Mal was too weak to walk so Ben had to carry Her out of the bunker like a damsel in destress. He then set her on his bike, gave her a glamour to hide any injuries she might have, and told her to hang on tight as he drove her back to the school.

Mal thought about how this ride was far more like the ride to the enchanted lake as Ben drove far slower, knowing Mal didn't have the strength to hold on if he just took off. Ben dropped her off at the dorms and made sure she was okay to walk. He had originally tried to walk her up himself, but Mal insisted that Evie would know something was up if she let him walk her home.

Mal then spent the rest of the night telling Evie lies (he was so nice it was disgusting) and half truths (we went to the enchanted lake) about her date with Ben. Mal went to bed the first opportunity she got and faked sleep so she wouldn't have to think anyone.

******the next morning*******

Mal woke up once the sun began to shine through their disgustingly pink curtains. Once she was fully Alert, all the memories from the night before came rushing back. Mal groaned. She wondered if she should just tell Evie the truth, but she might think it was a prank as she had never seen the future king of auradon as anything but a pathetic hero. Plus, the glamor was locked onto Mal's wrist, disguised as a bracelet so Mal couldn't prove it via her injuries.

Mal continued her inner debate while watching Evie get ready for the day. She was about to tab on Evie's shoulder, not sure what she was going to say but just planning to see what came out of her mouth, when a knock came at the door. The two girls exchanged a glance before looking through the peep hole to see one of the royal guards. Mal simply rolled her eyes before opening the door.

"Prince Ben has requested.. Mal's… presence before today's classes." The guard smeared when he had to say Mal's name but got through the message and left without a response.

Mal felt a flash of fear run through her before squashing it down. She didn't get scared, she was Maleficent's daughter for evils sake! The safety of Auradon had caused her to drop her guard and Ben took advantage of it. Mal vowed she would make sure the same thing didn't happen again as she made her way to Ben's royal office.

*****in Ben's office********

Mal shoved open the door to Ben's office, not bothering to knock.

"Good you got my message. I was thinking we should go over some-" Mal cut off Ben.

"Listen here beasty boy." Ben's eyes narrowed at the nickname. "I don't know what kind of shit you pulled yesterday to get me like that but I'm telling you right now that it will never happen again-" Mal was cut off by an angry slam on the desk between her and Ben.

"YOU DO NOT SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT! EVER!" Ben accented his point by grabbing Mal's chin hard in his left hand. Mal immediately released a pained scream, feeling an intense burning on the side of her face. Ben held on for what felt like the longest second of Mal's life then shoved her away, revealing his new, pure-iron ring. Mal's eyes widened and remained fixed on the ring as she rapidly backpedaled, only to hit the wall of Ben's small office.

Ben slowly stalked up to Mal, stopping only six inches away from her face. He then brought his hand with the iron ring mere inches from the fairies face, causing her to flinch and brace herself.

"This is the only time you will get a pass for such behavior, Mal." Ben said in a low growl. "I know you are getting used to this situation, but next time there will be serious consequences. Do you understand?" Ben asked pointedly.

Mal simply nodded, not trusting her words. Ben nodded in return then made his way back over to his desk to lean on it.

"Behavior like this is exactly what I wanted to speak to you about. Tonight is family day and I expect you on your BEST behavior." Ben pointedly glared at Mal who didn't dare move a muscle. "It will be the royals' fist time meeting anyone off the isle of the lost, so I expect you to be polite, not use foul language, and act as my perfect girlfriend. In fact I will be introducing you to my parents at the event."

Ben paused to make sure his date was understanding everything he was saying. "If you do something I deem inappropriate or 'villainous' I am going to give you a punishment that makes the isle seem like paradise. Do you understand, little dragon?"

Mal simply nodded again. "Good. Go to class before you are late." Mal took that as a dismissal and took off, scampering to remedial goodness 101.

(AN: I am going to pretend the call with the parents never happened and I can do that cuz this is MY fanfiction damnit)

*******family day*******

Mal begrudgingly let Evie stuff her into a dress for family day as she was trying everything to stay on Ben's good side. The four VKs made their way to the picnic area, the boys immediately raiding the chocolate fountain and Mal grabbing herself a strawberry.

Mal had just finished her fruit when she noticed the prince signaling for her. Mal motioned for Evie to keep an eye on the boys and made her way over to her supposed boyfriend and his parents. The moment Mal reached him, Ben wrapped his arm around Mal, laying his hand lightly across her open back. Mal felt the small stinging sensation of the iron ring's feather light touch. A warning.

"Mom, dad, this is my girlfriend Mal. From the isle." Ben seemed so proud to say it even Mal bought the act.

"Why don't you join us for lunch?" The queen seemed so uncomfortable asking.

Mal had a momentary panic. Would Ben want her with his parents throughout lunch? She had promised to stick close to the other VKs.

Mal looked to Ben as though his face might hold answers. "I actually…" Ben gave a small nod noticing her gesture back to her friends, encouraging her to tell his parents about them. "I came with my friends."

"Well you should invite them." Belle forced this reply but Mal was unphased by the queen.

"We can play crocket. The more the merrier." The king said then shared a fist bump with his son stating "game on."

Ben then removed his hand from Mal's back and lead her away whispering to her softly; "great job. Don't worry about crocket I'll teach you. Keep this up and you might just get a reward." Mal didn't want any reward from Ben, but she kept that thought to herself.

Mal told the other VKs about how they were invited to lunch with the king and queen and how they were to be on their BEST behavior, while Ben set up the crocket.

Mal discovered she was rather good at crocket. She took great joy in watching the king's frustration at losing to someone who has never played before. That is, after Ben told her to stop holding back as he wanted to watch his dad loose too.

Mal was waiting a few feet from the group, watching Ben trash talk his dad about how his girlfriend was beating him, when an older lady Mal didn't recognize walked up to her.

"Do I know you, you seem familiar?" The woman asked Mal who was forced to bite back to retort about how the lady must be stupid to no recognize her.

'Be polite to the royals.' Mal though to herself before responding, "no, I'm sort of like a transfer student." Only getting an 'ah' in return. She went to go back to watching the show until she noticed Audrey walking up to them.

Mal really did not want to deal with Audrey now, so she settled to tune out their babbling. That was until she heard; "YOU! How are you here and how have you stayed so young?"

Ben was immediately at Mal's side, placing his ring an inch away from her bare skin. "Queen Laya, maleficent is still on the isle. This is her daughter Mal. Don't you remember my proclamation to give the new generation a chance?"

"A chance to what, Ben? Destroy us?" The old queen was practically in hysterics, having to be held back by fairy god mother. "Don't you remember the poison apples? And the spells? My daughter was raised by fairies because of your mother's curse, so her first words, her steps, I MISSED IT ALL!"

Ben gave Mal a small tap with the ring and Mal knew he was telling her to apologize. Mal immediately went to comply, weather it was from fear of Ben or that she was genuinely sorry for the old queen, Mal didn't know.

"I'm so-" but she was cut off by chad pushing her back.

"Stay away from her." Chad yelled in an arrogant confidence that only chad could have. Mal could sense her friends gathering behind her, ready to provide back up at a moment's notice in case there was a fight. Mal was more surprised than anyone to find she didn't need them.

Ben moved in between her and chad and proclaimed in his loud, kingly voice; "why chad? What has she done other than try to apologize for something that SHE DIDN'T DO!" Mal had to hide her confusion at Ben's praise for apologizing when he was the one who had signaled her to do it. Ben continued in a softer tone; "they left their only home to go to a place where they knew Thay would be hated for something out of their control. That sounds pretty heroic to me, chad." With those words Ben wrapped his arm around Mal and lead her and her friends away to the nearby picnic area.

"Ben" king beast called over his son.

"Go on, I'll be right over." Ben dismissed the VKs and went over to his father.

The isle kids sat in silence, each one just trying to figure out what happened, Mal most of all. One second the prince was threatening her with iron, the next he was protecting her. She couldn't for the life of her figure out or predict her supposed boyfriend's behavior.

"Hey it's all right guys. Don't worry about it." Ben get no response from the villain kids. Mal stiffened involuntarily when Ben leaned down to whisper in her ear, "I'll fix this. Don't worry little dragon, you did everything perfectly. It is the royals I am going to have to set straight." He spoke the last words with a growl. With a final reassuring pat, Ben left to make a plan about his biased classmates.

Only moments after Ben left, Jane and Audrey approached the group. They began to whisper obnoxiously.

"how long does she think that is going to last? Mal is just the bad girl infatuation."

"Ya, I mean he is never going to make a villain a queen."

Mal wasn't sure who said what as the girls were basically one entity in Mal's mind, but she definitely knew she'd had enough. The fairy racked her brain for a way to get quick revenge without enraging Ben. Of course, that notion was soon wiped from her head when more people started laughing. If there was one thing Mal refused to be, it was a laughing stock.

An idea came to Mal then. She had given something to Jane in friendship, (well in an attempt to manipulate her but whatever) and she could take it away. "Beware, foreswear, undo Jane's hair." With a quick motion of her hand, Mal cast her spell.

Mal turned around when he heard Jane's scream. "Excuse me who do you think you are?" Mal heard Audrey's shill voice and decided that she was already going to catch hell for her use of magic, now she might as well just go all the way.

"Do I look like I'm kidding?" It wasn't a question so much as a threat as Mal began flipping through her mother's spell book, but true to form, the auradon kids ran away like the cowards they were.

Mal should have felt something about her victory, but all she could think was; "Ben is going to be so mad, and I am so Fucked."
