1 A Demon Awakens

"Come on, Akira!"

"I'm coming! I'm coming!"

A young man in his late teens stomped on the snow beneath him, trying to properly balance himself as a large blizzard hit him, his heavy clothing just barely protecting his face from the snow that was carried by the wind.

Akira looked forward to see his father, a middle-aged man with brown hair and a thin mustache, motioning him to come over. Akira then moved hurriedly toward him, trying to ignore the stinging feeling from the snow.

"We better step up, the others are already ahead," Akira's father said.

Akira gave a groan as he finally caught up to his dad. "Sorry about this. I didn't think this would be so hard."

"Well, going up the mountains, Himalayas especially, isn't cakewalk. Though, to be fair we didn't expect such a strong wind to come," the older man said before giving a sigh. "And here I thought this father-son bonding would go without complications."

"It's fine, dad," Akira reassured. "I never said I didn't like it, just that I found it harder than expected.

Mr. Fudo smiled. "Glad to hear it, son," he said before having to spit out some snow that flew into his mouth. "Blasted wind. Let's go before the others begin to think we're lost."

Akira nodded and the two began walking up, right towards several more people that were ahead of them

The young teen thought back on how this came to be.

Several days ago, the Fudos gave their long-time friends, the Makimura's a visit. It was an often occurrence with how much the families knew each other, the children especially.

The Fudo family consisted of Reijiro Fudo, Kaori Fudo, and their teenage son Akira. The Makimura family consisted of Noel Makimura, an immigrant from America with sandy blonde hair and beard, Akiko Makimura, a woman with long brown hair and eyes, and their children were Miki, a girl Akira's age with shorter brown hair and green eyes, and the youngest child, Taro who had short black hair and brown eyes.

The families were seated around a table, discussing how their days went. The first subject was… how Akira got a black eye.

"Let me guess, it's those bullies again," Noel said in a disapproving tone.

Miki sighed."Yeah. Dosu and his gang got Akira after our practice with the rest of the team. They dared Akira to fight back, but…"

Akira looked down in shame, actually threatening to have tears spill out.

"Akira, sometimes you will have to fight back," Noel told the young man. "I've seen boys like that before, and they aren't going to give up."

"Don't talk like that, honey," Akiko interjected. "You know that Akira isn't the type to do that. Besides, that's not the example you should set for our kids, the right thing to do would be to report the bullies to the Principal."

"Sorry about that," Noel apologized. "I guess that's my own dad's influence on me. He drilled into me that I should fight back." He shook his head. "That man, I feel like if I was like Akira, he would have disowned me."

"We'll have a talk with the boys' parents," Kaori said. "We'll have the situation sorted out."

"I hope so."

Reijiro took a glance at his son, seeing him wipe his tears. "Hey, you kids have a school break next week, right?"

"That's right," Miki answered and Akira gave a nod after wiping his eyes.

"Well, remember how I have that trip to the Himalayas next week? I was thinking of bringing Akira with me."

Kaori blinked. "Are you sure, Reijiro? That's supposed to be a business trip, not a vacation."

Reijiro shrugged. "I just think that our son needed a change of scenery once in a while. Besides, you know my job keeps me busy, and I thought Akira and I would have father-son bonding while we explore some of the wonders of the world."

"You know, I think that might be a good idea," Noel commented. "No offense, Kaori, but you have to admit that Akira mostly spends time with you."

"That is true, but… I'm still not sure," Kaori said.

Akira stayed silent during the conversation, something which Reijiro noticed.

"Akira, I know this probably isn't how you thought of spending your break," Reijiro said. "You probably thought of going out with friends, playing games, watching movies, or going to some… raunchy websites."

Akira immediately blushed, with Miki slightly blushing as well and Kaori looked at her husband in shock before elbowing him.

"Hey, don't talk like that while we're visiting!" she scolded.

Noel laughed. "Don't worry, we're all pretty much adults here. We all know how these things work."

"Some things need to be kept private," Akiko said.

"Ah, you're no fun."

"Well, Akira?" Reijiro said while looking at his son, who still seemed uncertain. "I understand if you don't want to waste your free time, going hiking up a mountain with your old man instead of hanging out with your friends."

"No, it's not a problem, dad," Akira said, surprising Reijiro. "I would love to spend some more time with you. I'll go."

And the rest was history. His mother was still hesitant to let him go, but they were able to convince her. She made sure to pack him some good food for the trip, and wouldn't let him go if he didn't give her at least three kisses.

The rest were shocked that Akira would actually spend so much of his school break on a trip, but how often did people get the opportunity to visit the Himalayas? Besides, with how much his father was occupied with his work, it was good to at least spend some time with him for a while.

And Miki…

'Oh, Miki,' Akira thought. 'I really hope you aren't upset with me because of this?'

Call it paranoia or whatever, but even with Miki's approval, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow disappointing her. And considering how he felt about her, that was the last thing he wanted.

But what's done is done. He decided to spend some time with his father and that is the decision he was going to live with.

"Come on, Akira!" Reijiro called. "I can already see Dr. Yamanobe waiting for us!"

"Yeah, I'm coming," Akira said before once again hurrying his step.

Then, when his foot stomped on the snow the ground gave way, some ice cracking beneath him before he fell through, screaming as he did so.

"AKIRA!" Reijiro yelled while watching in horror as his son fell through the ground.

Akira was sliding on the snow beneath, still screaming as he fell further down, his body twirling from the slippery slide. But it didn't last long as he landed face-first into some snow beneath.

He then spat out the snow from his mouth and wiped his nose before brushing a tear that almost escaped his eye. Akira quickly got to his feet before looking up and seeing the hole that brought him here. He didn't fall down too far, and it looked like he could climb back up with the equipment he had.

"Akira! Son, can you hear me?!" Reijiro yelled from above.

"Yes, I can, dad!" Akira replied. "Don't worry, I'm fine! This hole isn't that deep!"

"Can you climb up?!"

"Yeah, I can!" Akira said before looking around. "Though, I'm not sure where I am! I think it might be a cavern!"

Akira took off his backpack and began rummaging through it, before finding the flashlight he was looking for.

"I'm coming down!" Reijiro exclaimed as Akira turned on the flashlight. Soon, Reijiro also slid down and saw his son. "Are you sure you're fine?"

"I'm not injured. I told you already," Akira said.

"I know, but I'm your father, and I should be overly concerned," Reijiro said before taking out his own flashlight. "Your mother would be pissed at me if you even received a scratch."

Akira smiled and nodded, before looking at the spots he lit with his flashlight, and noticed some peculiar. "All of this seems to be… just ice."

"I think you're right," Reijiro agreed. "I think that you walked over a weakened spot before falling through."

Akira moved the light nearer the place he fell through, only to be met with a sight that almost made him jump out of his skin.

"What the…?!" Akira exclaimed before moving two steps backward.

Reijiro wondered what his son saw and went to see for himself, only to end up gasping as he finally understood what got Akira spooked.

There was something… someONE in the ice. They moved the lights so they could get a clearer image of whatever was in the ice, and it seemed to be a humanoid creature, just over ten feet tall. The lower body seemed to be covered in fur, with the feet having claws, while the upper seemed clean of any hair, showing the blue skin this... man had, and a very muscular physique, with his hands also having claws.

His head had the most intriguing features. The back of his head and the jawline were covered with some black skin-like material, two horns were sprouting from his forehead, while the sides were adorned with… They couldn't tell what those were. Small wings? Some sort of ears? Plus, he had some red markings under his eyes and next to his shoulders.

The giant man's eyes were closed and his mouth slightly open, giving an impression that he was asleep.

"What is that?" Akira asked.

"I… don't know," Reijiro answered. "In all my years in archeology, I've never seen anything like this. I swear, this looks like some sort of demon."

They stared at the frozen man for a few more moments before Akira spoke. "Man, that must be quite a discovery."

As the two pondered on what this could mean, something else shocking happened. As they shone their lights into the creature's face, the eyelids seemingly twitched before suddenly completely opening, revealing them to be red.

Akira and Reijiro both gasped at what they saw. That man was actually still alive?! Then cracks began loudly forming on the ice in front of the man's face and then began to spread throughout the entire length of his body.

The two Fudos began backing away, still frightened by what was going on, as the cracks moved even above the creature. Then the ice began to break, with several chunks crashing loudly down in between the creature and the two men.

"Move, Akira!" Reijiro exclaimed as the ice began crumbling further and dropping down. Soon, part of the roof of this icy cave began collapsing, with the two Fudos trying to desperately get away, however they looked in horror as the destruction caught up to them and the last they saw were the falling chunks of ice before everything went black.

Now free from his prison of ice, the man moved about, his muscles making popping sounds from the flexing and stretching he did. A large grin soon formed on his face, revealing the sharp teeth. He looked up into the sky and saw the moon above before taking in a huge breath of air and exhaling.

'So, I'm free,' the man thought. 'But… why was I here in the first place?'

He tried to remember but just couldn't for some reason. All he remembered were images of light, flames, and feathers before he suddenly found himself trapped in ice.

Looking down, he saw the figures of two humans that have awakened him. The older man laid crushed beneath boulders of ice with a huge amount of blood pouring from him, and the other younger man was lying further away, only had one of his legs beneath an icy boulder but blood was seeping from his forehead, his eyes, and mouth open in shock.

They were dead. Both of them, the large man determined. Quite a shame considering they were the ones who helped in his freedom.

Wings then appeared on his back, colored red on the front and black on the back. He was ready to lift off, but suddenly found himself stopped as sharp pain came from his side.

The large man looked down and only now noticed that his side was bleeding profusely, right from a large circular hole that was formed in his flesh.

His hands went to his wound as he collapsed on a knee, his strength slowly waning. He groaned and narrowed his eyes as he tried to stop the bleeding with his hands but it was no use. It wasn't healing like it normally would for him, and he felt like he was about to collapse.

'No, I'm not dying like this!' he screamed in his head. 'I am Amon, the great warrior demon! And I refuse to die in some cave in the middle of nowhere!'

Amon, determined not to perish, looked down at the corpse of the young man. A thought came to him, the only chance he had for survival.

He moved closer to the boy, his size reducing as he got closer before kneeling in front of the body. What he planned to do was risky but he was running out of options.

Amon put his arm on Akira's shoulder, his form slowly dissolving as it slowly turned into some sort of black mist that slowly began entering Akira's body. Once it was gone, any evidence that Amon was present was completely erased.

Akira's eyes suddenly snapped open as he took a huge intake of air. He moved his hand in front of his face before smiling.

'Yes! The possession worked!' Amon thought to himself. Normally taking over a dead body would be suicide for a demon considering the specifics needed for possession, but with someone as powerful as he was that wasn't as big of a problem. In the end, the gamble paid off.

"Akira! Seijiro!" Amon heard some voices coming from the distance, no doubt the companions of these humans that freed him. Excellent, this meant that he would have aid in getting this body out of here.

Amon slowly relaxed and closed his eyes, deciding to play the proper role for this situation and let these other men take this body to safety.

And soon after, he couldn't wait to wreak havoc upon the world again.
