A New Target
Miko calmly walked to school, her bag hanging in her hands, but her enthusiasm seemed to match that one of a sloth.
She rubbed her head as her mind went back to the events of last night. The events seemingly came out of nowhere.
Miko didn't realize how she found herself dressed in nothing but her bikini in some stranger's bed.
She just wanted to tell Mr. Nagasaki that Miki wouldn't be able to come, but then he started asking her questions and told her he could make her famous.
She agreed. Not sure why. Maybe because she was jealous of Miki's fame, maybe because anyone would want to be famous, but in the end, she lay on her back in a sensual pose as the camera flashed.
"Oh, that's nice," Nagasaki said as he continued taking pictures.
Miko quickly shook her head and wrapped her arms around herself. But the events just kept replaying.
Nagasaki now kneeled over her as she laid on the bed, taking some photos up close.
Miko shut her eyes and began biting her lip while her arms held tighter. Tears threatened to escape her eyes.
To her shock, Nagasaki had completely forgone the camera and began laying right on top of her.
"Wh-what are-?"
Nagasaki put a hand on her lips. "Shhh, be quiet."
Then his lips were on her neck while his hand grasped her breast under the bra.
Miko let tears flow as her lips trembled. She didn't mean to… she didn't… mean to have…
Oh, dear God, what had she done?!
How could she let Nagasaki have his way with her? She didn't want it. She wanted to say 'no', to push him off, but something stopped her.
Then Miko's mind went to Akira, back on the time he kissed her and promised to take her on a date.
And she betrayed him.
Amon had to admit, Sachiko can be really creative when it comes to coming up with a way to spend time. Like singing songs, and if you sang well you could have some candy, which was pretty much all the time since kids weren't really good critics.
Or having a bubble-blowing contest, to which Amon still didn't get the rules, and if you won you can pick what movies you can watch.
He was honestly glad his kids weren't like that. He'd probably lose his mind.
He thought of getting rid of the girl, but that would cause too many complications. And that would bring too much attention.
Looking at his hands, he began grinning. He only had a short time to work on his body but he was able to feel the results already, as small as they were. Amon needed to also to work on staying in his true form as long as possible with some daily transformations. Though, he would need to be in some more isolated area for such a thing.
Walking into the school grounds, Amon then noticed a familiar face walking there. Though she had a very downed look on her face.
"Hey, Miko," Amon called out as he got closer to her. "What happened? You don't seem to be in the best of moods. Forgot your homework, or something?"
Miko finally looked at him, her eyes trembling as her lip quivered which surprised Amon. If nothing else, he'd think that she hoped she wouldn't run into.
"Oh, Akira," Miko began, her voice shaky. "It was… I-it was noth… No, no, it…"
Her eyes began to water before she shut them tight, her whole body trembling. Then she suddenly run up and gave him a tight hug, her face buried in his chest.
Amon gasped in shock. What on Earth has gotten into her to suddenly behave like that?
Miko then began to sob into his chest. "Oh, Akira, I'm sorry! I'm so, so, sorry!" she exclaimed as tears streamed down her face. She then looked up at him with her teary eyes. "I'm sorry! I betrayed you, I… I d-didn't mean for it to happen, but… it's like something just… Oh, god!"
She once again buried her face into his shirt as tears poured down, her whimpering muffled.
Amon was honestly at the loss of words. What was she talking about? Betrayed him? What was that about? Why was she so distraught by whatever she did?
He decided to wrap his arms around her in a comforting gesture. "Hey, hey, it's alright," he said in a hushed tone. "Now just tell me what-" Amon stopped himself as his nose suddenly flared. He picked up some strange scent coming off of Miko.
With his sense of smell, he does memorize a lot of people that he got close to since each one has its own unique scent. And he remembered Miko's own pretty well, and this time it seemed to be… well he felt some foreign scent lingering off of her. A scent that belonged to another person.
Amon's eyes widened for a bit before narrowing in anger. He clenched his teeth as actual fangs began forming from his true form. He knew exactly what happened.
"Miko," he said in a very restrained tone as he tightened the hug, trying his best not to growl. "Who did this to you?"
At a different location, several people were currently in a meeting, and not really a normal one either, a fact that shouldn't come as a surprise with a peculiar name such as 'Human Alliance' for a corporation.
Seated at a square table were several men dressed in suits, and along with them was a beautiful woman with long blond hair and blue eyes, her arms crossed against her bountiful chest.
"Now, in case you didn't know," said a man that was at the head of the table. "There is something that went viral in public, something which is a great cause for concern."
The man then grabbed a remote before clicking it. There was a big screen at the wall opposite of where he was sitting, and it began flickering to life before showing an image from a news article. The picture was that of the silhouetted 'Devilman' as the people began calling it.
The man continued. "We were able to confirm that this is not a hoax, but an actual picture of a demon that a random passerby took after a mysterious explosion happened at the docks. You do know what that image signifies?"
"That our efforts into hiding the existence of demons are getting less effective and that it is only a matter of time before they end up revealed to the world?" another man suggested.
"Correct, which is why we'll need to work fast to keep this under wraps. Otherwise, the efforts of the Human Alliance would have gone to waste." The leading man then turned to the woman. "Miss Asuka, were you able to find our solution as you promised?"
The woman, Ran Asuka, simply gave a nod before taking out a magazine and sliding it to the leading man. The front of the magazine displayed a stunning woman in a beautiful white dress, long flowing brown hair, and beautiful brown eyes.
"I believe that this woman, Jun Fudo, may be the solution we are searching for," Ran Asuka said. "She possesses a dormant but very powerful Devilbeast Factor. If we awaken it, we may have a soldier whose power is a match for any demon."
"Are you certain this woman has such a powerful Devilbeast Factor?"
"Positive."
Another of the men smiled. "You know, this Devilman name seems fitting, so how about we rename it to the 'Devilman Factor'?"
"This isn't a time for jokes."
"I'm just saying."
As they talked, Asuka then looked at the photo of Jun Fudo. This woman, she was definitely going to be a major player in the things to come, the blonde could feel it.
The Human Alliance would be that much closer to its goal of keeping humanity safe from the demonkind.
Miki stood at the balcony of her room, letting the light breeze tickle her skin and ruffle her hair, the sensation making her smile.
She was a bit surprised that neither Akira nor Miko ever talked to her today during school hours. The two didn't even come to track practice. That was very strange.
However, Akira and his mom, Kaori were visiting their family for dinner. And Miki couldn't help but feel happy for that. It's been a little while since their families spent time together. Not since… the incident.
And boy did Akira change ever since then. He was a different person entirely. Aggressive and confrontational, not meek and subdued. His physical performance has put him on the top of the track team instead of being the last.
She honestly wasn't sure how to feel. Should she feel sad that the friend she knew from when they were very little is now different, or should she be happy that he can now stand up for himself and no longer be a laughing stock?
It was confusing.
But the one thing she was definitely glad for… is that Akira was still alive. He came close to death back in the Himalayas. So Akira may be different, but he was still with them at least. You have to take your blessing where you can.
Her phone then began ringing. She took it out and saw a video call from Nagasaki.
"Miki, come down! Akira and Kaori are here!" Akiko called out outside Miki's room.
"Just a minute, mom!" Miki responded before pressing 'accept' and was met with the smiling face of her photographer.
"Hey there, Miki! How's my favorite client?!" Nagasaki said with a smiling face. "Guess what, I got a brand new place for us to shoot!" He then redirected his phone camera, giving Miki a view of a pool. "Quite something, isn't it?"
Miki titled her head amusingly. "Is this really necessary, Mr. Nagasaki?"
Nagasaki chuckled. "It's just to spice things up a bit. Trust me, your fans will love it."
Miki was about to respond, but then she heard footsteps behind her. She turned and saw Akira standing at her doorway. "Oh, Akira! Look I'll just talk with Mr. Nagasaki for a bit before-"
The moment she mentioned the name, Akira's eyes flared with anger and he quickly walked over. Miki was so surprised by the sudden act that she failed to react to Akira snatching her phone out of her hand.
"A-Akira, what's the matter with you?! Give that back!" Miki demanded and tried to reach for her phone, but Akira put a hand on her collar area and held her back.
Amon's eyes burned into the image of a shocked Nagasaki on the phone, recalling what Miko told him this morning.
Nagasaki recovered from his shock before glaring. "Hey, who the hell are you? Give that phone to Miki!"
"I… I'm so sorry," Miki said as she tried to reach her phone but she couldn't get past Akira. "He's a friend. I don't know what came over him all of a sudden."
"Listen here, you son of a bitch!" Amon growled out, catching both of them off guard. "You think you can just get away with what you did?! Miko told me everything, and you better watch yourself because you're now on my personal shit list!"
Miki blinked in confusion at what Akira just said, while Nagasaki then began to slightly panic. "Miko? Akira, what does Miko have to do with this?" Miki asked.
Amon turned to her. "So you don't know? Well, let me tell you."
Amon then proceeded to tell her everything that Miko told him. At the end, Miko stared at Akira wide-eyed, her mouth hanging open in shock. Her gaze then went back to her phone before she took it back and addressed Nagasaki.
"How could you?!" Miki demanded as she glared at Nagasaki. "I thought you were just a hardworking person, but to take advantage of a girl as you did! How can you be so despicable?"
Nagasaki swallowed. He was in a really bad spot now. He honestly didn't think that Miko girl would run her mouth. Normally girls in that situation would be too embarrassed to tell what happened to them, but it looked like this wasn't the case.
He needed to salvage this situation. And fast.
"Um, l-look, Miki," Nagasaki began. "It's not as bad as it seems. I assure you, I just-"
"Forget it!" Miki interrupted him. "You don't have any excuse for doing this to my friend! You can forget getting a single photo of me!"
"WHAT?! No, Miki, wai-!"
Miki ended the video call and made sure to erase her contacts with Nagasaki and block him in all her social media. She didn't want to see or hear from him ever again.
"Akira," she said, her tone now receded. "Please, tell the others I'll be late for dinner. I… I have to call Miko."
Amon nodded. "Right. You do that." He then walked away, leaving Miki as she quickly got to her contacts and pressed Miko's number.
Kaim honestly couldn't remember the last time he felt so annoyed. Ever since Sirene saw that picture of Amon (at least she THOUGHT it was Amon, there was no concrete proof it was him), he was ignored even more than before.
Right now he stood atop a building, watching the sunset in the distance. Despite what so many mortals believed, demons weren't just creatures who only knew how to hate and kill. Some of them can appreciate the beauty in things. Like how Kaim saw the beauty of Sirene, demon form or otherwise.
He then lit up a cigarette before inhaling and exhaling the smoke to calm his nerves. When Amon disappeared centuries ago, Kaim began to feel some measure of hope that he would have his opportunity with Sirene, that she would see him more than some underling.
But no such luck. Sirene never gave him a second thought. She has tried to be with other powerful demons, but only ended up disappointed and unsatisfied, only reaffirming her resolve into waiting for Amon to return.
And now that he has seemed to have returned, Kaim began losing any hope he had before.
"Hey there, Kaim!" a chirpy voice said from behind him. He turned back to see a young woman dressed in a short-sleeved red shirt and black shorts. She had short red hair and her eyes were also ruby red in color.
"What are you doing here, Faim?" Kaim asked. "You're not causing trouble, are you?"
"Oh, don't be such a prude," Faim said as she gave him a dismissive wave. "I heard some interesting news and went to check with auntie Sirene. Has papa really returned?"
Kaim groaned before palming his face. "Please, I don't want to hear any more of this."
Faim smirked. "Oh, is someone still jealous?" she asked rhetorically, much to Kaim's further annoyance. "I'm sure momma will also like to hear that papa has returned. I wonder why hasn't visited us yet."
Taking a drag of smoke, Kaim replied. "Because he's an uncaring bastard, who rather be alone."
Faim laughed. "Ha, you wish! Sorry, but you're not getting into auntie Sirene's pants that easily," she chastised. "I do hope papa comes to momma's upcoming concert. I know he loves to hear her sing."
"You hope for too much if you ask me."
"Well, it's a good thing I wasn't asking you," Faim said chirpily. "See ya, Kaim!"
Faim's entire form was then engulfed by fire before she suddenly flew upwards, leaving a frustrated Kaim behind.
The Fudos and the Makimuras sat at the Makimura dinner table, though the mood seemed somber for some reason
Akira and Miki were completely silent, totally focused on their food as they ate and sparing anyone else a glance. Taro was honestly excited to have Akira over, but with the way he was silent the youngest Makimura only ended up feeling disappointed.
Eventually, the silence became uncomfortable.
"So, um, how was school today?" Noel broke the silence with a somewhat awkward question.
"Fine," Akira said as he took a bite out of some meat.
"It was alright," Miki said in a hushed tone.
"Akira, be more polite," Kaori told her son.
"What's the matter with you two?" Akiko asked. "What got you both in such a bad mood?"
"It's… it's personal," Miki said. "We'd rather not talk about it."
"Miki, you know if there is any trouble you can talk to us," Noel said as he looked at his daughter.
"I know," Miki replied. "But this situation I think is best we handle ourselves."
Noel sighed. "Alright, if that's what you wish. But if it gets too tough, then you know who you can turn to."
"Hey, Akira," Taro chimed in. "Do you remember that head priest from the Hosen temples, the one who has many watches on his right arm?"
"Taro, I don't think that appropriate to talk during dinner," Noel said.
Amon raised an eyebrow. "What about him?" From Akira's memories, he was a pretty quirky individual. He also lived near the Makimura's and would sometimes visit, and even Akira talked with the guy.
"It seems that he mysteriously disappeared a couple of days ago," Taro explained. "Nobody has seen him ever since."
"Disappeared?" Kaori wondered.
Akiko sighed. "Yes, unfortunately, that's true. His wife is very worried about him, especially since their child was born only a month ago."
"It's even more unfortunate that this isn't the only disappearance around here," Noel added.
That piqued Amon's curiosity. "Wait, there were more people who disappeared?"
Noel nodded. "There were four other people that suddenly disappeared. In fact, the police came to us this morning and asked if we knew anything about the disappearances."
"You know," Taro began. "I met this one guy who says that he heard some loud noises and screams coming from the hills nearby really late at night. He told me that demons are the ones who took those people and killed them."
"That's enough, Taro," Akiko said sternly. "Don't listen to such outlandish stories. It's very disrespectful to the victims of these disappearances."
"But… I'm just saying," Taro said as his shoulders sank.
"Look, I only wanted to talk about this after dinner but since we're here," Noel said as he looked at the Fudos. "Akira, Kaori, please be careful. Who knows which one of us might be next before the police take care of the problem?"
"Of course we'll be careful," Kaori said to which Amon just nodded in confirmation.
The dinner continued, though the uneasy feeling still remained.
Once their visit to the Makimuras was finished, Kaori and Amon safely returned home. It was late at night, and Kaori then went to sleep, to which Amon used the opportunity to sneak out of the house.
He stood outside in the cool night air, walking past the buildings of their neighborhood.
Amon was sure that these disappearances were the work of demons. They more than likely got bored and started to sate their urges by killing humans one by one.
This posed a problem for Amon. He couldn't let the local authorities put this neighborhood under watch. That would just complicate his situation even further. And for that not to occur, these demons had to be dealt with.
Once he determined he was out of sight, he transformed into his true demonic form before spreading his large leathery wings and taking off into the air.
It was time to teach some pathetic demons a lesson.
AN: And that is it, my dear readers! The plot thickens as we get introduced to some characters from the Devilman lore. And yes, in this one I'm making Faim a daughter of Amon. And no, not like an adopted one, a biological one. It seems logical that Amon would at least have some children throughout his long life.
I also implore you to check out my other stories, trust me, they are worth it. And leave a review, they are great motivators.
See you next time!
