Greetings and welcome to chapter two of 'Pups At Chernobyl'. Well, last time we only heard sounds of glass shattering and Marshall barely missing the falling shards. Now it's time to find out what that really was. In the following chapter, it might contain some mention of burns and possible mention of death, just for awareness.

But apart from that, I do as always hope you enjoy the second chapter. Oh, did I forget to mention? Enjoy.

Chapter 2 – 1:23:45

The sky was dark. Not a single sound from the sleepy pups, except for a Cockapoo who was laying down by the shoreline near the Lookout tower. From a distance, Chase saw her from his pup house. He believed the time was now, but so many thoughts kept stabbing him like bullets, holding him back from confessing his feelings to the one pup he cares for. His mind was made up. The German Shepherd grasped one massive breath, then he carefully made his way to her.

"Hey." He spoke in a calming tone, then came to a halt. "Hey." She replied, keeping her eyes out to sea. Chase then slowly approached her. "Mind if I sit with you?" Chase asked. "Only because you asked politely." Skye granted jokingly. Chase smiled and took his place next to Skye.

Both of their eyes were aimed out to sea. The waters sparkled in reflection of the stars; no moonlight brightened up the rest of the town.

"Beautiful scene, isn't it?" Skye spoke, referring to the view in front of them. "Sure is." Chase agreed.

Without her noticing, Chase turned his eyes to Skye, seeing that she was still staring out to sea. He could see a worried look upon the Cockapoo's face.

"Is there something wrong?" Chase asked. Skye jumped as if she had just come out of a daydream. "Nothing. It's all fine." Skye said, shaking her head under her paw.

Chase heard it in her voice. He sensed the dishonesty coming from her. He wanted to admit his thoughts, but he was just too afraid that he might break the bond between the two. He decided to brave it and let it out on one breath could be regretful for the German Shepherd.

"Skye, I've been meaning to say this." He said with strength. Skye slowly turned to him, with eyebrows raised to their limit. "I've wanted to say this for an extremely long time, but I didn't know when to bring it up." Chase admitted. Skye saw his ears flop down behind his head. "Chase, where is this going?" Skye asked, feeling more curious as to what he was about to say. Chase scrunched his eyes up, then eased them and raised his pupils at her.

"Well, the thing is," Chase said. The two kept their eyes on each other. "I love…" Chase spoke, then was cut off by the sound of an explosion and a shockwave. The two pups were pushed off their paws and flown apart. Chase got up and went to Skye's aid. "Thanks, Chase. What was that?" She asked.

The two pups looked up and saw a blue light beaming into the night sky in the distance, followed by a raging orange glow. The sound of the shockwave woke the others up and saw the beam just like Chase and Skye. The pups were paralyzed down to their voices. Just then, their pup tags started flashing.

"Ryder? Are you there?" Marshall's voice came.

"I'm here. What's wrong, Marshall?" Ryder's voice replied.

"There's been an explosion back at the plant at Block Unit 4." Marshall reported.

"Where are you now?" Ryder asked.

"In the reception area." Marshall answered.

"Are there others with you?" Ryder asked.

"No. Just me." Marshall responded. "Okay, sit tight. We're on our way. Paw Patrol, to the Lookout." Ryder called.

"Ryder needs us." Skye called, then started to sprint toward the tower, leaving Chase behind. "Well, until next time I guess." He muttered to himself, feeling his ears flop down at the side of his face. He then went after her, joined by the others in the elevator. Once they were dressed in their uniforms, they reached the top and lined up, all except Marshall who was still back at the nuclear plant.

"Paw Patrol, ready for action, Ryder, sir." Chase informed with determination. Ryder press the button on his pup-pad and the screen lowered down.

"Thanks for hurrying at this time of the day, pups, but we've got a troubling situation right now. Marshall is at the nuclear power plant, where there's been a huge explosion." Ryder reported. Gasps shocked around the pups. "This might look like a dangerous mission, but we're not sure how dangerous it is, so for this mission, I'll need…" Ryder explained, then swiped his pad until a wrench appeared on a yellow badge.

"Rubble, I'll need you and your bulldozer to clear away any debris out of the way so that the other fire department gets here." Ryder stated. "Rubble is on the double." Rubble called out as he stood proud. Then the boy swiped his pad again until a golden star on a blue badge appeared.

"Chase, you'll scout around the plant to make sure the area is clear and nobody is trapped under any rubble." Ryder added. "Chase is on the case." Chase said. Then finally, a propeller on a pink badge showed up.

"And Skye, you'll fly around the plant to spot anyone or anything that we can rescue." The leader stated. "Let's take to the sky." Skye yipped as she backed flipped.

"Alright! Paw Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder called out. The pups howled as Ryder ran towards the pole and slid down it. Chase, Rubble, and Skye went down the slide and jumped into their vehicles. With Ryder leading in his ATV, the team charged on and headed for the nuclear power plant outside town.

Inside the control room for Reactor No. 4, panels from the ceiling dropped down to the floor and dust was sprinkled everywhere. Several men stood behind panels, wearing full white uniforms with white hats. All of them were in shock after the explosion. Alarms and sirens continuously sounded non-stop. A voice tried to reach a man with a moustache and combed back hair.

"Comrade Dyatlov. Comrade Dyatlov!" Another man with a moustache called out, but he was wearing glasses. Dyatlov woke up from his shocked state and raised his eyes, looking around to process the situation.

"What just happened?" He questioned. The man with the glasses had a younger man next to him at the panel. "I don't know." The man with the glasses answered, checking all over the panels. Then another worker came rushing into the control room. Sweat was pouring off his skin and was panting with deep breaths.

"There's a fire in the turbine hall. Something blew up…" He explained until he was cut off by Dyatlov. "The turbine hall. The control system tank. You blew it up, Akimov and Toptunov, you morons." Dyatlov raged. Then yelling came from outside on the corridor, followed by another worker who rushed into the control room. "It exploded." He yelled. "We know. Get the backup pumps running. We need water moving through the core. That's all that matters." Dyatlov ordered as he cut off the worker who had charged into the control room.

"There is no core." The panting engineer announced.

Everyone slowly turned towards him, even Dyatlov. "It exploded. The core exploded." Eyelids of every worker, except Dyatlov, were wide open. A few eyes turned to each other, Dyatlov strongly thought against his words. "He's in shock. Get him out of here." Dyatlov ordered, walking toward his desk.

The panting engineer followed him, trying to talk with reason. "The lid is off. The stack is burning. I saw it." The engineer argued.

"You're wrong, RBMK reactor cores can't explode," Dyatlov reassured him. "Akimov, tell him." He added as he raised his eyes in the direction of Akimov, who wore the glasses.

He turned towards his younger comrade, then at a label with 'AZ-5' marked on it. "Don't worry, Leonid," Akimov assured Toptunov. "We did everything right, but I don't know what happened." Then, Toptunov started to feel a strange feeling on his tongue. He couldn't quite name it but it felt to him like metal. "Do you taste metal?" He asked, alerting his comrade.

Akimov could also taste the metal, but an impatient Dyatlov brought him back from the mystery. "Comrade Perevozchenko, what you're saying is completely impossible. A core can't just explode. It must have been the control tanks." Akimov said. Perevozchenko stood defeated, feeling betrayed by his fellow comrade.

"We're wasting time. Let's go! Get the hydrogen out of the generators, and pump water into the core." Dyatlov commanded as he headed towards the door to the control room. "What about the fire?" One of the operators asked. He stopped and turned to the operator, eye brows raised and eyes dead on him. "Call the fire brigade!" Dyatlov answered annoyed.

The other workers went back to their posts, while Akimov and Toptunov looked at each other with unassured looks. Dyatlov wandered into the golden corridors. He stopped in the doorway, leading to a corridor that had broken shards scattered everywhere. He slowly took one step at a time. Each step Dyatlov took, he heard the finishing cracks underneath his shoes. Then slowly approached the open gap of where there was a clear view of the ground bellow, once blocked by a window. He looked over the edge and saw a Dalmatian pup running around the building. Then his attention was caught by a block on the ground, smouldering with glowing flames. Not a single worry line formed on his face.

Just a simple stare; inside him was something else.

Outside on the ground, Marshall carefully sprinted around the block and saw a massive landside of bricks and debris that lead to the inside of the fourth reactor. He then had a strange feeling in his mouth, which had a strange metallic taste. "Huh? Metal?" Marshall questioned. "Arf. Geiger counter." The Dalmatian's pup pack pulled out a Geiger counter and readings skyrocketed.

He gulped and lifted his eyes back at the fires. "This is bad." He said to himself.

He then heard sirens and a helicopter heading toward his position. He knew this was Ryder and the Paw Patrol. He rushed off into their direction and was met with Chase, Rubble and Ryder who braked in front of him.

"Ryder, the area is filled with radiation." Marshall warned. Ryder checked the levels on his Geiger counter. Like Marshall's readings, they too skyrocketed. "You're right, Marshall. We need to tread carefully around here." Ryder said. He then got out his pup pad and connected through to Skye. "Skye, there's radiation coming out of the block and it's in the fire. Try and keep a good distance from smoke." Ryder advised. "Copy, Ryder." Skye acknowledged.

She continued to search the area for any survivors. Ryder then turned to the Bulldog. "Rubble, use your digger to clear away the debris so the other fire fighters can drive through." Ryder ordered. "On it, Ryder." Rubble replied as he started clearing away the rubble.

"Chase, Marshall, you two and I are going to scout around the area to see if anyone is stuck underneath the debris." Ryder stated. "Lead the way, Ryder, sir." Chase said and they drove off.

Meanwhile back in Adventure Bay, the residence was starting to pack the streets up. Either they wore their normal clothing or pyjamas, they came out of the houses regardless. "What was that noise?" Alex asked his grandfather, Mr Porter, who kept close to him. "I don't know, Alex. But keep close to me." Mr Porter advised.

Mayor Goodway was even out, dressed in her night wear and robe, whilst holding Chickaletta in her arms. "What's everyone doing outside? And what was that explosion?" The Mayor questioned. "That's what we're wondering too, Mayor Goodway." Katie spoke, who joined up with her.

Then a skateboarder rode past the crowd and braked near them. "Yo, dudes. There's been an explosion at the nuclear power plant. The light show is oh so rave." The skateboarder called out.

"An explosion? Are you sure, Danny?" The Mayor asked. "Sure, am. I can take you to a good spot to get a view of the show." Danny said. The townspeople started to follow Danny, whilst Mayor Goodway and Katie remained where they stood. "Are you guys coming?" A male towns folk asked, referring to Mayor Goodway and Katie. "I'll be there." Mayor Goodway called out. The folk caught up with the crowd.

Mayor Goodway turned her attention to a worried Katie. "You coming too, Katie?" The Mayor asked. Katie looked up at her town leader. "I'm not sure. I'm heading to the Lookout." Katie answered.

"Fine by me." The Mayor said and caught up with the crowd. Katie kept thinking of what Danny mentioned. She thought a light show was strange to be at the scene of an explosion at a nuclear plant. Katie thought Ryder and the pups would know what was going on. As she mentioned to Mayor Goodway, Katie decided to head towards the Lookout. She kept running until she was across the bridge, all the way as her legs carried her. She eventually made it to the Lookout and saw that the remaining Paw Patrol members were sitting down watching Apollo the super-pup.

"Hey, pups." Katie called out as she entered the building. The pups turned around. Rocky jumped in fright. "Hey, Katie." They called out, except Rocky who hid behind his bed.

"Tell me when Katie leaves." Rocky whispered towards Zuma. The rest of the pups and Katie laughed. Rocky then raised an eyebrow in hesitation.

"It's okay, Rocky. You're not having a bath." Katie assured him. "You're not having a bath, Rocky." Zuma said to him. Rocky poked his head out and breathed in relief. The other pups laughed in amusement. Katie looked around and noticed that some of the pups weren't there. Even Ryder.

"Any of you know where Ryder is?" Katie asked. "He, Chase, Rubble, Skye and Marshall have gone to the power plant where there's been an explosion." Everest explained.

"I know about the explosion. The whole of town heard it and they're going to see, being escorted by Danny." Katie added.

"I hope they get back soon. Radiation is a scary thing when you know you can't see it. Oy-oy-oy." Tracker said. "True, dude." Zuma asked.

Katie could see trepidation going around the pups like a bird telling them an unpleasant secret. She also sensed their thought and feelings, scared one of them would be left behind. Katie pushed those dark thoughts to a side and focus on trying to raise the pups' spirits. "Well, I'm sure they'll get through it. It's like they're invincible. But in the meantime, can I fix you pups with anything?" Katie asked.

"Pup treats!" They called out in unison. Katie giggled and went to find the required food.

Back at the power plant, the control room operators were under pressure. Toptunov kept trying the phone lines, but only received several beeps after the dialling tone. "The internal lines are down." Toptunov reported. "Keep trying. Keep trying all of them. We've got to reach the pump operators." Akimov motivated his younger comrade.

Dyatlov came back into the control room. "I've lowered the control rods from the other panel." Dyatlov said. Akimov saw that they were still up. "They're still up. About a third in and I've sent the trainees down to the reactor hall to lower them by hand." Akimov stated. Dyatlov was becoming even more frustrated as more time was being wasted.

"Forget that now, what about the pumps? Are they in motion?" Dyatlov asked. "I've been trying the phones, but they're all down." Toptunov reported.

"Fuck the phones. Are the pumps on or not?" Dyatlov asked as his tone of voice became more and more enraged. "Stolyarchuk?" Akimov called out. The engineer that had his name called out dared not to make eye contact with Dyatlov. He already felt the enraged presence of the deputy chief engineer.

"I can't reach the panel. And I've called in for the electricians…" Stolyarchuk said until he was cut from his talking. "I don't give a shit about the panel. I need water in my reactor core!" Dyatlov yelled. None of the engineers dared to answer back at the deputy.

"Get down there and make sure those pumps are on." The operator stood still. Unsure of what to do, he was frightened that his comrades would be harmed if he dragged any of them in. But an irritated Dyatlov yelled at the top of his voice, which forced the scared comrade to leave the control room. Dyatlov, breathing in to drown out the anger, sat down and turned to Akimov.

"What did the dosimeter say before this shit had gone down?" He asked. "3.6 roentgen. But that's as high as the meter goes." Akimov reported.

"3.6 roentgen. Not great. Not terrible." Dyatlov thought aloud.

Akimov turned back to his panel, where joined by Toptunov. "But we did everything right." Akimov pleaded to himself. He felt his chest tighten with pressure. He wanted to reassure himself that there was nothing to be worried about; the alarms that continued only uncovered the reality more for the senior operator.

Meanwhile, the Paw Patrol were doing everything they can to make the situation reliable. Chase, Marshall and Ryder had made sure that the area is clear, in which they saw no bodies under the surrounding debris. Rubble had cleared away the debris and pushed it back against the blown reactor block, and Skye found two survivors who managed to clear away from the site. Then, Rubble heard sirens coming from nearby. He saw blue flashing lights in the distance and a slight hint of red. He immediately called Ryder with his pup tag with joy.

"Ryder! The fire department is on the scene." Rubble reported. "Great job, Rubble. We'll need to warn about the radiation before they get soaked in it." Ryder said. But then, they heard helicopter blades going fuzzy. Chase and Ryder looked up and saw that Skye's helicopter was tipping backwards and forwards, then it started to rotate slowly until picking up the pace. "Ryder, something strange is happening with my helicopter." Skye's voice came through, but static terminated her connection on Ryder's pup pad. The Cockapoo's chopper started to fly off into another direction and rapidly decreased its altitude.

"Skye!" Chase and Ryder screamed. Chase's paw smashed the accelerator and went after Skye. Ryder tried to call him back but was too late as the German Shepherd was out of his sight. Marshall was already after him. A loud crash flew into Ryder's ears and almost felt his pup pad slip out of his fingers. He shook off his emotions and focused on the mission at hand.

He then raised Rubble on his pad. "Rubble, Skye's in danger and she just crashed after losing her signal. We'll need you to tow her helicopter back to the Lookout." Ryder called on to his pup pad. "Coming, Ryder." Rubble replied and headed towards the rest of the gang.

However, they had been completely thrown off by the fact the fire fighters had arrived. The men rolled out the hoses toward the burning hole. One of them picked up a chunk of one of the debris. The chuck looked like it was broken up into a smaller quarter of the mineral of what it once was.

"Hey, Vasily!" He called out. "What's this? It's quite warm." The fire fighter had the piece in his bare hands. "I don't know. Don't fuck around with it. Get the hoses hooked up." Vasily called out.

The fire was big and everywhere. The whole building had a chunk taken out by the explosion. Vasily accompanied his fellow fire fighter but then had a strange feeling in his mouth.

"You taste metal?" Vasily asked. The other could also taste it. "Yeah, what is that?" The other fire fighter asked. "I don't know. Let's not worry about that now. The valves, Misha." Vasily said.

Misha went to the valves and the hoses shot opened fired with water in the blazes.

Inside, the trainees from the control room were closing in toward the reactor hall. They had seen many of their fellow comrades in pain, agony, covered in rubble, or worse. Then they saw one of the workers carrying another worker but was completely lifeless.

"What's wrong?" The comrade asked. "We need to get to the reactor hall to lower the control rods by hand." Proskuryakov stated. The comrade stood in front of the two trainees in shock. "I don't think there are control rods. I don't even think there's a reactor core anymore." The comrade believed in anxiety.

Proskuryakov recalled the moment when Akimov went against him. "But Akimov said it was impossible." He stated. He noticed that his comrade had another body in his arms. "Does he need a doctor?" He added.

The comrade lowered the body down and the trainees didn't speak further. The comrade gestured with his head with the urge that they follow him. The trainees eventually followed him to the reactor hall. They came up to a dark corridor, at the end had a massive yellow steel door. The comrade walked up to the door then turned to the trainees. "I'll hold it open but you'll have to be quick." The comrade informed.

They nodded and the comrade used all of his remaining strength to open the door. The two saw the opportunity and crawled through the gap. They quickly ran through the remaining corridor and entered the reactor hall. Their eyes were met with massive smoke blasting out from over the railing and they felt the intense heat blazing into their faces. Treading carefully, they stepped into the hall and they looked over the edge.

On the floor wasn't a massive steel plate which they were used to looking at, but instead a gaping hole underneath them. A huge fire blasting out its rage; it persisted to keep going on until the end of time. The core was covered with control rods and graphite, whilst the rest of the hall was in ruins. Feeling their skin melting away, the trainees retreated out of the reactor hall and got through the steel door that their comrade still held open. He watched then as they ran by. He released his grip on the door and it slammed shut, luckily not slicing anyone into half.

"Hey! What did you see back there?" The comrade called out. He then started coughing. Crimson liquid landed on the palm of his hand. "Hey!" He screamed at the top of his voice.

Back in the control room, Akimov, Dyatlov and Toptunov were waiting for the trainees to come back. "This kind of explosion with the control tank on 71, it's 100 cubic meters." Dyatlov spoke.

"110." Akimov corrected.

"Either way, it could still do it." Dyatlov still argued. But then the door slammed open. Toptunov was in shock to see who it was, but what had happened to him. "It's gone." Proskuryakov reported, feeling his breath stolen away. "I looked right into the core." Akimov was shocked too but turned to face Dyatlov, who was looking calm. "Did you lower the control rods?" He asked.

No answer, except the retching sounds of the crimson burned trainee and eyes swollen shut.

"Take him to the infirmary." Dyatlov ordered while the trainee retch louder. Dyatlov yelled for Toptunov to move him to the infirmary. The young comrade went over to the trainee. "Where's Kudryavtsev?" Toptunov asked. "He fell. I don't know if he's still coming." Proskuryakov answered. Toptunov led him out of the room, calling for a medic.

Dyatlov saw them leave the room, whilst feeling the deadly and shocked stare coming from his comrade. "He's delusional." Dyatlov assured him. "His face…" Akimov pointed out.

"The feedwater is contaminated. He'll be fine. I've seen worse." Dyatlov tried to assure him. But Akimov was standing in disbelief. "Call in the day shift. We have to keep water moving through the core. That's all that matters. We need mechanics, electricians, bodies." Dyatlov ordered. He still noticed that his comrade wasn't looking at him. Dyatlov breathed in and slowly approached the operator.

"How many times do I need to repeat my words? I don't know if I can make things better for you, but I know I can make them worse." Dyatlov threatened. Akimov saw the fury inside the chief. In his fear, Akimov met the chief's eyes.

"Call in the day shift, comrade Akimov." Dyatlov ordered, hiding his anger. Akimov nodded and swallowed his fear.

"Yes, comrade Dyatlov." Akimov spoke. Then Dyatlov leaves Akimov to gather in his thoughts, trapped in the room that caused the trouble.

Back outside, Chase was searching for Skye. His paw was firmly locked down on the accelerator; his eyes scanned left and right for something related to Skye to show up. "Oh, come on, Skye. Where are you?" Chase called out. He became even more worried by the second he didn't see her. He slammed on the breaks and nearly flew forward out of his cruiser, allowing Marshall to catch up with the runaway Police pup.

"Chase, why did you just go like that?" Marshall asked. But Chase was too busy to have heard what Marshall said. His eyes were the only source giving him the sense of his environment. Then he saw a small piece of metal in sight, hiding behind some bushes.

"Skye. She's over there." Chase said. Without thinking, Chase drove towards her and Marshall followed. The two pups found Skye's helicopter. Their reaction wasn't pleasant. The entire vehicle was nearly squashed into a pancake.

"Skye, are you okay?" Marshall called out as the two pups hopped out of their vehicles. "I'm fine. I'm trapped under here." Skye called out. The dally quickly raised a signal with Ryder.

"Ryder, we've found Skye." Marshall reported. "Okay, Marshall. Rubble and I are on our way." Ryder reported through his pup tag. "We've got to get her out of there." Chase worried. "We can't just yet. First, we need to wait for Ryder and Rubble to get here, then we'll get her out." Marshall advised.

Chase became increasingly worried as they weren't present. To his relief, the two had arrived. "Skye, are you hurt under there?" Ryder called out, jumping off his ATV and rushing to the crash site. "Just a few cuts and injuries. Nothing else." Skye called. "Rubble, use your crane to lift the chopper off Skye. Marshall, once the chopper is nearly off Skye, check to see if there are any critical injuries." Ryder ordered.

Rubble got his truck into position and his crane had a grip on Skye's helicopter. "Slowly, Rubble." Ryder called out. Rubble slowly lifted his crane and Marshall knelt to see if Skye was hurt badly.

But what she described was more horrific.

"Erm, Ryder. She's got way more critical injuries here." Marshall called. Skye's nose was bleeding, her head was bruised, her chest was slashed by the glass shards of her window, and a burnt red look on her face. Rubble held the crane in place while Marshall tried to get Skye out. Chase, at a distance, worried for her life. He thought this would be the moment that he'd never get the chance to admit his feelings toward her. Eventually, the Dalmatian got the Cockapoo out of the wreck. Rubble saw the devastating look on the injured pup pilot.

"Oh my, Skye, you look awful." Rubble said. "I'll be fine." Skye said.

"We're going back to the Lookout, Skye, to get you patched up." Ryder declared. She knew Ryder was right. Marshall took her to his fire engine and she strapped herself in. Then a thought bounced back to Rubble as he heard the sirens from a distance. "What about the fire fighters?" Rubble called out. "Good point, Rubble. We've got to warn them now." Ryder agreed.

"It's too late." Marshall spoke.

The pups slowly turned to the Dalmatian. "What do you mean, Marshall?" Chase asked. "They've been exposed since Skye crashed. There's no saving them." Marshall informed with regret.

The other pups looked scared, even Ryder. The firefighters did everything they could to put out the fire. Vasily kept his eyes on the flames and the water still flew into it. He heard one of the firemen cry in agony. He noticed a huge burn on Misha's hand. The burn covered the entire body part. Then the Head Guard approached Vasily. "Vasily! We're heading up to the roof to put out the fires from there." He stated. Vasily nodded and closed the hose. Along with some of the firefighters, he made their way into the interior of the building.

Into the monster that no human can visualize. Already, they felt the heat suffocating them. Their clothing became heavier with the sweet soaked up. The team managed to climb up to the roof. Fires had spread across the landing of the roof; huge blocks of black minerals rested in the extra debris. Vasily looked over the edge and saw the massive fires in the pit below.

"Alright men, open hoses." The Lieutenant called. The fighters blasted the water out on the flames on the roof and held their breaths to prevent their lungs from filling up with smoke. The hoses managed to put out the fires on the roof.

"Lieutenant Pravik," Vasily called out to the Lieutenant. Pravik joined up with Vasily at the edge and saw he was pointing down to the burning reactor.

"All hoses over here!" Pravik called out to the others. In their immediate response, they switched off their hoses and moved over to the edge, then reopened their hoses. The firefighters did nothing but wait. They all watched as the fire below continued to rage on. The heat became more intense and Vasily felt the metallic texture on his tongue feel more noticeable.

"Sir, it's not going out." Another fire fighter called out. Pravik looked over the edge and saw that he was right. "Save your hoses, boys. We'll think of another way." Pravik called out.

The water stopped falling and the fighters retracted away from the edge. Pravik and the other firefighters left the roof, whilst Vasily stared in horror. One of the fighters noticed him and approached him.

"Ignatenko, you alright?" He asked.

"Pravik. His eyes." Vasily stated.

"What about them?" The other fire fighter asked. "I swear they were brown when I looked at them." The fire fighter thought he was going delirious. "They always have been." He stated.

"But just before he left, Pravik's eyes were blue." Vasily pointed out. The firefighter walked away, feeling frightened by Vasily's behaviour. Vasily himself was more frightened of how Pravik's eyes managed to change colour. He turned back to the edge of where the reactor was, wondering what was being emitted from the fire.

Holly shit, this is getting real.

Well, hope you enjoyed this chapter and I will point out that the mention of the eyes changing colour was actually reported. According to a YouTube video with the 31 death toll, the Lieutenant, Vladimir Pavlovych Pravik was the leader of the fire crew who put out the flames on the roof of the fourth reactor. He did repeatedly visit the roof and the reactor hall several times, probably the reason why his eyes change colour due to the radiation. Just thought I might put that out there.

Well anyways, like I stated, hope you enjoyed and chapter three will be out: same time, same day of the week, next week.

But from me, I'll see you next time, "3.6 roentgen. Not great. Not terrible."
