AN: I don't own TVD or TO.
Warning: A bit of Esther Mikaelson bashing.
Rebekah Mikaelson didn't hate her older brother Niklaus Mikaelson. No, she often said that he was her favorite brother. She also loved the fact that she could talk to him and hug him again. But she did hate him for the fact that he was making her go to school again.
Of course, she skipped and went to shopping. She had her own place in Mystic Falls, thanks to her brother, but they agreed that she should somewhat stay with the Salvatores'.
She knocked on the Boarding House's door before she kept her compact mirror in her pocket. Damon opened the door.
"Where's Stefan?" she questioned him.
"Who the hell are you?" he asked in confusion as she walked past him.
"He actually left me here." she acted as she and Nik had agreed.
"I'm sorry, your tone implies that I'm actually supposed to care."
"You're Klaus's sister?" Damon asked in shock.
"Rebekah. Pleasure, I'm sure." She turned, "Where's my room?"
"You're not staying here.", 'Oh Stefan and his usual whim to control everything when his switch is off.'
She then looked at Damon, but he didn't respond. She raised an eyebrow, "Rude. Both of you." With that, she went to the same room she had gone to last time.
It was weird walking through the same walls that she used to years ago to visit Hope at the boarding school.
She set her bag down on the bed, closing the door behind her, muttering to herself.
"You're lucky I love you Nik. I really don't like the Salvatores, sure Stefan a bit, but not that much."
Rebekah did not at all like Tyler Lockwood. Well, the future Tyler Lockwood. He wasn't that bad now, but that didn't mean she wanted to teach him how to feed.
But Nik wanted it and she wanted him to be happy, so she did it. She walked towards Alaric's classroom, not caring if she was late.
"... starting with the the country's original founders, the Native Americans."
"What about the Vikings?" Rebekah questioned as she entered the room and took a seat. Tyler, Caroline and Elena looked at her.
"There is no evidence that Viking explorers actually settled in the United States. Who are you?" Alaric looked at her.
"My name is Rebekah, and my favorite subject is history." she smirked at him.
Later, Rebekah walked up to football team where the cheerleaders were practicing. As someone was asking about a cheerleader that Stefan killed, she entered the conversation.
"Looks like you have an opening on the squad."
"What are you doing?" Caroleech asked. Rebekah started stretching, but the baby vampire was still standing beside her.
"Hey. Hey! You can't just come in and infiltrate all of our lives!"
"Caroline, sweetheart, I'm only interested in yours." she started, "Your spunk, your popularity, even some of your clothes." she glanced at Tyler, she wasn't truly interested in him, she was just riling up the blonde, "Maybe even your boyfriend." with a smirk, she walked away and did the same series of tricks she did last time, ending in a front split.
Rebekah was now internally panicking. She had forgotten that Katerina was going to wake Mikael up, that Matt Donovan was seeing his sister, and the Scooby-Doo gang was trying to get rid of her. The latter she had a plan for. Mikael had been defeated twice, they could defeat him one more time, she was counting on it. It was the ghosts coming back to life that she didn't have a plan for.
Her mother was a pain in the ass from the other side too. She had convinced Vicki Donovan to kill Elena, so that Nik couldn't make more hybrids, which pissed her off greatly.
She skipped the party and the god awful flirting with Damon. She knew what she had missed, but she was preparing to see her father again. He had been defeated by her and her family twice, and now she had to see and talk to him again.
She was in the Mikaelson Manor, rather than with the Salvatores. There would be ghosts all around her in a few hours and she wasn't even prepared for them.
The next day, she tried to walk as casually as she could through town, seeing as she had killed so many people, she couldn't take a chance, any of them could be near her, wanting revenge.
She went to a shop and bought a cup of coffee to satisfy her hunger. She walked out of the shop, and froze at what she saw.
A certain someone from her human life waiting for her. She took deep breath and walked towards the person. She went and sat on the bench, sitting beside the figure.
"Rebekah Mikaelson," she greeted softly, "it's been a long time."
"A long time indeed, a thousand years to be precise, Ayana."
"Your mother has gathered a lot of followers," Ayana told her, " some worship her, some fear her. I'm hear to warn you." she smiled at her surrogate daughter.
"Why are you here, other than that?" the original couldn't help the question that slipped past her lips.
"Do you know, theoretically, if the other side were to collapse, many would perish. I would not be one of them." Rebekah's eyes widened, "I have been watching you and your family for a thousand years. I have watched as you betrayed each other, argued, loved each other. I also know that you are not in your time."
"I lost everyone but Hope, Davina and Nik." at Ayana's silent question if she was talking about her brother, she shook her head. The witch also didn't question who Davina, Nik and Hope were.
"How did it come to that?" Ayana asked as she ran her thumb over her cheek.
"I lost Finn first. I cried for days. Then I lost Kol. But the blow was harder this time. Then I lost Kol again because of Finn. I got him back but then I lost Finn again. I lost Nik and Elijah on the same day. Nik sacrificed himself to save Hope, and Lijah couldn't live without him." she cried a bit.
She bit her lip, hesitating to tell the brunette about Freya, "Freya was bound and killed by a surviving servant of Dahlia. The cure for immortality was forced down Kol's throat by werewolves and they slaughtered him. I got his body with the last vial of the cure."
"So you know about Freya."
Rebekah nodded, "It was nice to have a sister. After that, only Hope, Nik and I were left as full-blooded Mikaelsons. I died soon after I said goodbye to the others."
"But your story didn't end there." Ayana continued.
"No, it didn't. Before I died, I wished I could save my family and the entire Vampire species. Somehow, I ended up in the past. I would like to thank whoever sent me here. Thank god, they sent me back to save all of us." Rebekah murmured.
Ayana nodded, looking at the couple in front of them, "Esther is trying to come back."
"I know, I've already lived this life once. I can live it once again and succeed." she said with confidence.
"That's the girl I knew." Ayana smiled at her.
Rebekah pulled Ayana into a hug, "Thank you for looking after us."
The spirit kissed the top of Rebekah's head, "I've been doing it for a thousand years, and I will keep on until they say I cant."
And with that, Rebekah Mikaelson held onto Ayana Bennett until she faded away.
