Rebekah and Klaus danced and twirled to the song as she took the scene in around them. Beside them were Sage and Finn, who coincidentally were in the middle of the room (not). As the song slowed down, all the couples were sidelined.
Sage looked confused as Finn removed his hands from her waist as he took a box out of his pocket. Finn knelt down on one knee as he opened the box. It was a beautiful ruby ring. Sage cupped her mouth as Rebekah saw tears come in her soon-to-be sister-in-law's eyes.
"Sage, it feels like I have known you for a thousand lifetimes and you have always accepted me no matter what. So I ask you, will you marry me?" Finn proposed.
Sage let out a choked sob as happy tears fell out of her eyes, "Yes. Yes! Yes!" she squealed.
Finn got up and she rushed into his arms. They both kissed under the light of the ballroom as the crowd cheered for them. Rebekah and Freya rushed forward and hugged the couple, who parted. The brothers congratulated their brother and his fianceé more formally.
Rebekah smiled, her plan was working and her family would soon be very happy.
Katherine Pierce had no idea why she had accepted the invitation to the ball.
Though she had to say, Finn Mikaelson's proposal had been very romantic. It made her feel a bit sad since she would never be so fortunate to have someone do it to her too.
She was wearing the dress that came with the invitation, and she had to say, Elijah Mikaelson still had his impeccable taste. Her champagne-colored dress was backless and spilled on the floor in waves. The dress was plain except for the designs on it that had almost every woman in the ball envious.
She spotted Klaus coming near her and she hurried away, she had managed to avoid him all evening, and she didn't want to meet him.
She relaxed after she was a considerable distance away.
"Katherine Pierce, what the hell are you doing here?" came a voice from her right.
She looked towards the voice's direction, "Stefan. Nice to see you too." she answered sarcastically.
"Yeah well, wish I could say the same," he replied.
Katherine laughed despite herself, Stefan's dry humor always amused, "Oh Stefan. You and your humor never fail to make me laugh."
"Anyways, like I said before, what are you doing here? Don't you know that Klaus, the guy that you have been running from for half a millennium is here?"
"Of course I do. But, apparently, Rebekah has taken interest in me. So she has invited me here."
"Hmmm…does explain why you're here." Stefan chuckled.
She was surprised when Elijah and Rebekah appeared out of nowhere in front of the frenemies.
"Rebekah. Elijah. Stefan and I were just about to go dancing." she said nervously, trying to slip away.
"I've actually changed my mind." Katherine looked at him with betrayal, "Rebekah, would you like to have this dance?" Stefan held his hand out and the blonde accepted it before they left.
There was an uncomfortable silence between them as they watched the dance.
"I didn't think you were going to come," Elijah spoke up, breaking the ice and making her wince in surprise.
"Nor did I. Though it was close." Katherine smiled weakly.
Elijah smiled back a bit hesitant, "Well then, I'm glad you came." at this she blushed.
"May I have this dance?" he asked.
She hesitated, before deciding, "Of course." and with that, they twirled away.
Damon took a sip from his wine. Here he was, watching his brother dance with Elena in almost…jealousy.
"Damon. It's good to see you after such a long time." came a familiar voice from behind him.
He turned and smiled, "Sage. Just the person I was hoping to see."
Sage smirked, "What can I say? Everyone wants to see me!" she joked.
Damon chuckled, "Lucky you! Congrats on your engagement. Clearly, you didn't want to tell me that you have a boyfriend."
Sage flushed, embarrassed, "Sorry 'bout that."
"Oh, it's alright." he waved the apology aside, "I just need to see if he's good enough for my friend."
"Damon!" Sage complained as she lightly pushed him.
He chuckled at her clear embarrassment.
"Let's catch up, shall we? After all, it's been a long time."
Katherine climbed the stairs as the last of the guests left the ball. She was heading towards the balcony to meet up with Rebekah as the blonde had requested (more like ordered) her.
She entered the balcony and found a head full of straight blonde hair. Rebekah turned and smiled at her.
'Okay, this is getting even weirder!' she thought.
"Katerina. Good to see that you accepted my invitation."
"Well, I didn't actually have a choice, did I?" she retorted.
Rebekah chuckled, "Well, can't say that you're wrong."
"Let's skip the small talk." Katherine looked the original in the eye, "What do you want from me?"
Rebekah felt a sense of deja vu, after all, Sage had said the same thing.
"I offer you a truce." she leaned against the railing.
Katherine scoffed, "As if. Klaus will dagger you if he even hears that you aren't going to give me to him."
"That is true. But everything has changed. We are scouting for new allies, and you just might be what I'm looking for. Not to mention, 'Lijah is completely obsessed with you and vice versa."
She gawked and felt heat rise in her cheeks, "I don't like him!" she protested.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night;" Rebekah grinned cheekily.
"Whatever." the brunette rolled her eyes, "And why should I accept?"
"Let's go inside and talk, shall we?"
