Clint finally caught up with Illyana who didn't even care to notice if he was even there. He seriously wondered if she has ever once in her life shown a smile. If not then he'd really be worried. They walked down the stairs.
Clint wasn't really good at making friends or small talk for that matter especially for someone like Illyana who literally screamed 'antisocial' and beyond. But he figured it was worth a try since his ass is gonna be stuck in here for a while.
"So how long have you been in this joint for weeks, months, years?" Clint asked, but Illyana just kept moving on with no reply.
Ooookay let's try again, "Are there any other quacks besides Reyes?" And nothing back.
They reached the bottom of the the stairs and Clint was kind of annoyed at this point he snorted at her, "Why aren't you-"
"Shh!" Illyana said cutting him off, before he could say anything else he saw her look at the puppet on her hand.
"What's that Lockheed?" She asked bringing it up to her ear as if it was speaking to her.
This of course brought a weird look to Clint's face and honestly he didn't think Illyana would even care if she even bothered to notice that is.
"Oh I know, I hate her too!" Illyana replied. Resuming her walk again taking 'Lockheed' as Clint heard her call it. Off of her and and slid it into the back pocket of her jeans there was a minute or two of silence as the pair came around the corner to the main entrance where they came to a stop for a minute Illyana huffed before snapping her fingers.
"Dr. Reyes!" She yelled. In response the door buzzed and the lock opened as did the door.
They went outside where Clint got his first good glimpse of his new surroundings the first thing he seemed to notice was that they were in the middle of nowhere from what he could tell. Nothing but thick trees and forest for as far as he could possibly see.
"Main building is here, dorms, over there is the Chapel if you actually believe in that shit, and lastly garden, that's it for the tour!" Illyana noted as she went along.
"Oh by the way you don't happen to know how to grow weed do you?" She asks Clint impatiently.
Clint gave her a look, "Seriously, do I like someone who does drugs?" Point at himself.
Illyana just sighed in response before turning to the small yet poor excuse for a garden in her mind that is.
"What kind of teenager are you?" She asks.
Clint doesn't really get this girl at all but answers anyway, "The kind that doesn't want fuck up their health!"
She looks at him passively, "It was rhetorical!"
He then sees her pick up a can of spray paint shaking it up, "Keep and eye out for me!" Illyana demands before jumping back down proceeding to start spray painting the wall.
Meanwhile Clint on the other hand is still getting use to his new surroundings.
"Hey I know you're doing art class right now so I keep it simple and ask if you know where the hell we are?"
"Who knows, Dr. Reyes did always tell us that the closest tow is 20 miles away from here, although I think she's lying." Illyana says looking back up at him.
"Why?"
"To keep us from trying to ditch this place and escape, why else genius, to keep us from missing the monthly parade that goes through here!" Illyana says sarcastically. Honestly Clint is starting to feel this bitch really get on his nerves.
He looks a the gate and road in front of him. "There's no fence or security?"
"Nope no fence, no security, no guard dogs, absolutely nothing stand in your way to freedom!" She clarifies.
Clint takes a moment before he breaks into a run and boy was he running he was slower than a tortoise crossing the freeway when running the mile in high school and now it's like he's possessed almost and he actually enjoys it as he keeps on running down the path.
Meanwhile back at the building Dr. Reyes just concluded the session for the day and the 4 remaining mutants exit the building.
Rahne feels like it's a nice day and throughly enjoys the feeling of the sun shining on her skin not as much as Roberto of course she'd never admit it but she was kind of envious of how he could just spend hours and hours out in the sun without getting burnt. Rahne knew for sure if she had that kind of stamina she'd never stop running in her wolf form. Which is the primary reason she always came outside including today to go for what she considered he morning run.
"Well I don't know about you but I'm off to catch some sun!" Roberto says tipping down his glasses as he walks off to suntan like clockwork.
Rahne just rolled her eyes at the spoiled rich boy. Then noticed out in the open the new arrival Clint his name was. Her green eyes turn into pitch black ones with yellow iris's as she changes into her wolf form and takes off after him to see what's going on.
Clint doesn't know how long he's been running but the only thing he can hear is Illyana's chanting for him to go faster and faster from a distance. Off to the side Clint slightly notices what looks a red fur wolf running down the hill as if it was purposely trying to catch up with him. What Clint doesn't know is there is an invisible force field in exactly 3…2…1… Clint is suddenly met by what feels like a wall right in his face and is blown back a few feet due to how fast he was running. And is now flat on his back groaning from the pain his face is feeling. Thankfully he wasn't cut or badly bruised.
"What the hell was that?"
You ran into a wall. The voice says flatly.
Clint growls, "Yeah no shit I ran into a wall or at least what felt like a wall!" He says out loud this time. Too angry to care who hears him.
Clint gets back up slowly rubbing his forehead while cautiously he reaches out and feels a wall and sees a orange like energy glow as then presses the rest of his hand harder against the wall and the glow spread all the way up to the sky. It was a force field he realized. While several feet behind was Illyana who was laughing hysterically. Then the realization suddenly hit Clint that she meant for him to get in a head on collision.
"Aww!" Illyana coos
"This isn't a hospital city slicker, it's a prison and now you stuck here forever, man that must've really hurt, I really should've warned you!" She mocks.
Clint let's put a nice fake laugh and turns to her.
I take it back I don't like her she is a irritating little bitch, let's get her!!!! The voice demands with as much rage as Clint feeling welling up inside him.
Ever since he's started hearing the voice in his head he's coped with being annoyed every now and then but for once it finds an issue that it and him agree on. Especially after all the bullshit he's been through in the last 48 hours someone's gotta pay.
"You you what mother Russia I've had it up to here with everyone stuffing their bullshit in my face, particularly you that is and usually I'm not a very violent guy by nature and the way I was brought up I was taught to treat women with love and respect and that fighting solves nothing well in your case I'm willing to make an exception you DAMN BITCH!!!!" Clint yells running towards her with his fist cocked just as she's within his grasp Illyana suddenly vanishes in a blue light as he swings at her falling to the ground.
Rahne watches from a distance even in her wolf form he features show clear signs of sadness for the boy.
Clint slams his fist into the ground screaming out of anger. Breathing heavily getting a chance to finally let some steam loose. When his ears pick up the church bell over at the chapel.
Suddenly a very bad idea hits him. He slowly walks over to the bell tower with that look on his face that literally spells trouble.
Don't even think about it Clint, if you die I die! The voice warned.
Good then I guess in a twisted fucked up sense justice is served and I can't eat anyone else. Clint responded mentally.
As he started walking through church up a few sets of ladders although he couldn't put his finger on it but there was that same strange outside force feeling like it was trying to take a hold of him and more specifically his body the same feeling from the memory. Only this time instead of embracing it he was trying to fight against it as Clint kept going up and up.
Over on the concrete court was Roberto shirtless wearing a nice pair of sunglasses doing his usual routine for the day until a small gust of wind blows against him followed by a blue light and there stands Illyana. She doesn't seem to acknowledge him much rather his drink that she so kindly takes a few sips out of the straw.
"So did the newbie meet the fence yet, you can let me know when your finally about to teleport us through that thing!" he says.
Illyana sets the drink down giving him a stern look. "I thought I told you not to talk to me!" She turns on her heel and walks away.
Roberto just shrugged, "Suit youself!" He calls out. Then with a finger he slides his sunglasses down onto his nose and gives a naughty smirk at her watching Illyana's ass sway with each stride in her steps, "Didn't say I couldn't look though!" He comments to himself.
Illyana was heading back off to her room and then to get some food. However she was cut short as Dr. Reyes was walking right at her with annoyance plastered on her facial features. "Illyana, where's Clint!" Illyana just shrugs casually.
Back at the bell tower Clint has finally reached the top but unfortunately doesn't see any roof access door so instead he just tears open the old wooden boards on the clock with ease. Clint steps out onto the ledge shuffling slowly a few feet over. Looking down on at least what has to be between 30-50 feet of empty air from him to the ground.
Clint takes a deep breath in and closes his eyes before leaping off the edge he feels the air around him speed up, just then two black looking tendrils shoot out of his back latching onto the concrete wall hoisting him back onto the ledge pulling him tight against the wall with a brute force unlike anything he's ever felt before.
"WHAT THE HELL!" Clint yells to himself, honestly he's pretty sure he's more sacred of what saved him rather than his failed suicide attempt.
Deep and heavy breaths roll in and out of Clint as he feels like he's about to have a heart attack. He tries to move but it's almost like his back has gotten caught in a vacuum refusing to yield it's grip on him. Suddenly two more come out of the back of his arms locking them into place against the wall as well. Clint tries desperately in vain to break free but his arm only gets a few inches at most before being pulled back again.
Listen and listen good Clint, I cannot allow you to kill yourself because I need you to be able to get out of here! The voice says loudly and with a slight tinge of annoyance.
"You…I..I-I don't even know what you are expect maybe a figment of my insanity!" Clint says between a mix of terror and humor.
That conversation can be for a later time but first you need to get your ass down from here and figure out a way to get out of the dome. Clint just scoffs at that. Seriously he's either really losing it or whatever this mutant power of his is has some very unpleasant side effects.
Before Clint can respond he hears the sweet chimes of one redheaded Irish girl a few feet away sticking out her head. "What are you doing out here?" she asks out of concern.
Clint was slightly startled but the sudden interruption and Rahne could tell that she scared him. She's just glad it didn't cause him to fall.
"Sorry! I didn't meant to scare you." She apologizes.
Rahne then looks down at the ground, "Wow this is really high up, a fall from up here could really mess you up by the time you get down there!" She commented in amazement.
Okay fine you win I won't jump but that doesn't mean I won't try again once I get out of here and I don't need one of the only nice people at this place to think I'm crazy so if you could let me go that would be really cool! Clint mentally replies to the mysterious entity praying it's listen right now.
Fine, but you better not try anything because I am starting to get hungry and if I don't feed soon then I will eat her and she does look delicious!! Clint gives a look of confusion to himself. Wonder what the voice meant by needing to feed.
Those thoughts were quickly shoved back as he felt the grip on his back and arms dissipate. As he slowly lowers them against his sides.
"Yeah I bet it would, and yet I wouldn't feel a thing would I, it would be quick and painless which is more than I deserve after what I've done!" Clint says with guilt and shame in his voice.
Rahne is a little bit more curious, "I want to get out of here to, but not like this, I don't know what you've done, but what I do know is that you don't deserve this!" She says with as much sympathy as she can in regards to his past crimes.
Her words give Clint a tiny bit of comfort that he feels like he needed. However it isn't enough to convince him that his crimes are worthy of death especially after everything that's happened to him throughout the course of his life, what does he possibly have left to go back to.
"Your right, you don't know me so let me give you a quick catch up summary then shall we, I'm a loser whose parents are both dead, and the only family I've got left doesn't even know what happened to me or where I am, more than that I don't even know if they are still alive!" Clint sarcastically sums up for Rahne.
"I have nothing left to live for I don't want to be here I want to be with my family!" Clint said frustration clear in his voice with small hints of depression.
Rahne felt her heart go out for the boy, it seems she may have something in common with him already. She clears her throat before speaking, "Where I'm from we believe that suicides go straight to Hell! It always scared me out of giving it a try!" Clint doesn't look at her for the moment.
"If they're gone and your still here maybe there's a reason why, perhaps it isn't your time to be with them just yet, I believe that God works in mysterious ways and sometimes those ways aren't good but sometimes he isn't there to vanquish the evil from this world, maybe he's there to help us find the strength to get through it together!" Rahne suggests bushing a loose strand of red hair out of her face.
"But I'm all alone! There's no one left who wants to be there for me!" Clint admits sadly feeling the emptiness inside of him. And if what the voice has said is any consolation that he only wants Clint until he's outside the dome.
Rahne looks at him solemnly, "There's two people up here!"
Clint finally looks at her his face softening, "You calling me a nobody?" Rahne asks pretending to sound insulted, but the kind smile she gives him gives her facade away.
"Please, it's going to get better!" Rahne says sweetly and soothingly, she then reaches her hand out offering him to take it, "I promise!"
Clint takes a moment before sighing in defeat and shuffling back over to the entrance taking her hand in his helping him back inside. Unfortunately Clint trips as he's bringing his foot in Rahne notices and out of instinct she wraps her arms around him as they fall to the floor together both of them gazing at each other on their sides.
Clint couldn't help but notice how pretty Rahne looked up close especially with that smile of hers combined with that little giggle. They stayed there for another minute.
"Let's go find your Heaven, Clint Fincham!" Rahne encourages. Clint smiles back in return.
