3 years later,
Lilly got diagnosed with lung cancer, with a 35% chance of surviving after 5 years. She was afraid that she'll never see Cole grow to be a ninja. She's worried that she wouldn't be there supporting him. So she did what she have to do… She kept fighting for Cole, for Lou, for her friends, her family.
Cole pleaded with his dad to stay with his mom for one night and after lots and lots of pleading, Lou finally gave in and agreed.
"Hey mom," Cole greeted his mom with a smile.
"Hey there my li'l beetle," Lilly replied, then she coughed afterward.
Cole sat beside her rubbing circles at her back. As soon as she calmed down, Cole yawned.
"Looks like it's someone's bedtime," Lilly smiled
"Not sleepy," Cole replied with another yawn
"What about I sing you a lullaby?" Lilly suggested.
"But your voice–" Cole tried to reason, only to get cut
"It's okay, Cole" Lilly reassured
Cole nodded in agreement while leaning to his mom.
"You can build me up,"
"You can tear me down,"
"You can try, but I'm unbreakable,"
"You can do your best,"
"But I'll stand the test,"
"You'll find that I'm unshakable,"
"When the fire's burnt,"
"When the wind has blown,"
"When the water's dried,"
"You'll still find stone,"
"My heart of stone…"
"Goodnight my li'l beetle," Lilly said as she kissed his forehead.
"Goodnight, mom…" Cole said as he started to drift asleep.
