Addiction - A Big Time Rush Fanfiction….

A/N - Well, here is chapter nine; sorry for the wait; the Holidays came, and I got busy, plus I was stuck writing this chapter.
Anyway, please enjoy chapter nine! Wow, thanks so much for all the reviews; it means a lot to me! So without much else to say;

Chapter 9

It has been almost a week since Kendall has passed out during their live televised performance and nearly a week since he's been in the hospital. Kendall has mainly been sleeping; the doctors warned them this could happen. They had taken the drugs out of Kendall's blood system, and now his body was healing. Of course, James, Logan, Carlos, Mama Knight, and Katie all stayed at the hospital, only leaving when visiting hours were over. Gustavo and Kelly dropped in on occasion to get an update of Kendall's condition, but they couldn't stay long; they had work to do, of course.

About a few days into the second week, Kendall finally started shifting in his bed; this was a sign he was waking up. However, as he woke up, Kendall saw darkness, and the only sound was a faint beeping noise that was starting to annoy him slightly. It took a few tries, but Kendall was finally able to start opening his eyes, a bright white light hit him, and on instinct, the blonde-haired boy wanted to cover his eyes but stopped when he felt something attached to his hand. Looking over, Kendall frowns, seeing an IV in his hand a nurse checking his blood pressure. He groans, slightly startling the nurse; she stops for a moment and watches him.

"Turn it off - " Kendall mumbles, trying to move and get into a better sleeping position.

"Sorry, what was that, Mr. Knight?" The nurse questions with a raised eyebrow; he spoke so fast and so low she didn't even hear anything he said. Honestly, she had been surprised she even heard him speak; he's been sleeping for a few days now. "Come again, Mr. Knight?" She questioned once more when she didn't receive an answer from the boy.

Kendall groans and tries to shift into a more comfortable position. "Turn it off, the beeping noise, turn it off," Kendall grumbles as he tries to close his eyes to get more sleep, but his body refuses, and he remains awake.

The nurse sighs, "I'm sorry, Mr. Knight, but I can not do that; that's your heart monitor. It lets us know you're alive." The nurse finishes with a small smile, relieved that the boy is awake. "Speaking of which, how are you feeling? Once I'm done, I'll get the doctor so he can look you over. Your family will also be happy to hear that your awake; they've been worried sick about you." The nurse finishes as she watches the boy closely while checking his vitals.

"Okay, just tired…." Kendall trails, not wanting to speak more about the subject, and he remembered everything, and a lot of him was starting to feel guilty for what happened. The last thing he was worried about was his mother's reaction, along with Kelly, Gustavo, Carlos, and Katie's reactions. He wasn't ready for the talk; Kendall was ashamed and scared. So for now, he kept it quiet with the nurse; when she was done, he sighed happily as he was left alone while she went out of his room, no doubt to tell his doctor and the other's he was awake.

Kendall was alone for a while; the silence surrounded him, and frankly, he was alright with it. The only thing that annoyed him was the beeping of his heart monitor, but he soon learned to drain the noise out as he waited. Eventually, after about a half-hour, the door to the room opened, and the doctor walked in with the nurse. The two came over to Kendall, who watched them nervously. Writing a few things on his clipboard, the doctor looks up and smiles.

"Hello Mr. Knight, it's good to see you awake; how are you feeling?" Dr. Jason (his nametag read) questioned as he pulled up a seat next to Kendall's bed.

Kendall sighs, "I'm feeling okay, honest, just tired mainly…." Kendall explains for the second time, feeling slightly annoyed, he hated hospitals and just wanted to go home already.

The doctor nods and smiles as he writes some things on the clipboard in his hand. "Alright, so we're going to keep you overnight for one night to keep an eye on you. In the morning, if all your vitals look good, we will let you go home, sound fair?" Dr. Jason questions as he raises an eyebrow at the young teenager.

"I guess," Kendall states, knowing he doesn't have a choice. He frowns, "Can I see my mom and my friends? Please?" Kendall questions with almost a begging tone; Kendall wasn't looking forward to their reactions, but he wanted to get the lectures over with. If anyone knew his mother, sister, and friends, it was Kendall, and no doubt they all learned by now, it was no mystery that Kendall was going to get those lectures.

"Yes, you may. I have told them you were awake, and they are waiting anyway. But I wanted to speak with you first and see how you were doing before letting them back. I will get them and then be back in before the end of the day, alright? Just press the call button if you need anything, and a nurse should be there to help you." Dr. Jason finishes with a small smile.

Kendall nods and watches the two do some work before they leave. Once more, Kendall is left alone, feeling scared and nervous as he waits for his visitors to come through his hospital room door. Not knowing who would show up first, Kendall began to brace himself for the yelling and disappointed looks on his friends and family's face as they came in. However, when the door finally opened, his mother, Katie, and Gustavo were the first three to visit him. Surprisingly Kendall didn't see looks of disappointment but looks of worry and relief at the same time.

"Mom, I'm sorry - " Kendall beings only for his mom to interrupt him and hug him.

Kendall lets her hug him, and he allows some tears to roll down his cheeks. They pull away, and Kendall says once more, "I'm sorry, mom, I'm sorry." Kendall apologizes as more tears come down his cheeks.

Mama Knight frowns as she watches her son cry; he rarely does. It is no secret that they know, after all, Logan told them, and Kendall probably assumed he did, but Logan's story was also confirmed when the doctor told them they found Ecstasy in Kendall's blood system. This was still shocking to all of them, Mama Knight still was processing all this, and it made her even sadder to see her only son crying while lying in a hospital bed. Mama Knight didn't even know how to feel at the moment, and she was upset, confused, hurt, and so many more. But her son needed her, and that was all she knew, and she pushed her feelings aside to be strong for him.

"Shh, it's okay, baby. I promise it's okay." Mama Knight states as she strokes his blonde hair. "We will work through this together, and you will be okay. I love you so much, Kendall."
Mama finishes as she wipes her son's tears away; she tries not to cry herself.

Silence surrounds them after she speaks, allowing Kendall to cry. Gustavo and Katie watch as they feel mixed emotions. When Logan told them what was going on, Gustavo was shocked that one of his dogs had gotten a hold of drugs and was using them. The older man had been in Hollywood for a long time, he knew the stuff was out there, but when he started working with the boys of Big Time Rush, he never thought he would find himself in this position, let alone one of his dogs using them. So, Kendall being the one using drugs he somehow got a hold of, just shocked the older man; if this information got leaked, Kendall would get bombarded in Hollywood news, and his image would be crushed. But Gustavo wouldn't let that happen; no, they would keep it between themselves, and Gustavo would make sure Kendall would never think about using drugs again. At least, he hoped he could help the boy anyway. That is if the boy would cooperate and not be stubborn like he is at times…

But Katie, on the other hand, had been confused when she heard the information from Logan. Sure she was young, but Katie wasn't stupid; she was brilliant for her age. Katie had heard about drugs from all those crime shows she watched on the Fox Channel; she also learned about them in school. For her brother to be a victim of drug usage was just shocking to her. Kendall never seemed like that person; she had no idea how he had gotten ahold of them. But when Logan told them the information in the hospital hallway, she was utterly lost for words and crushed, her big brother that she looked up to was using drugs? And without realizing what they were? Katie was shocked and, seeing her brother crying in their mother's arms, crushed her. Katie made a promise then and there that she too would help Kendall get better any way she could. Moving over to the bed, Katie comes up and hugs Kendall, and she kisses his forehead lightly.

"It's going to be okay big brother, and we'll help you through this; we love you and are here for you," Katie explains as she hugs him a second time.

Kendall cries more, mostly from surprise by his sister's words. Mama Knight agrees with Katie and continues to try and soothe Kendall. The three stay next to one another in the hospital room, no one wanting to leave the boy's side. Kendall thanks his sister for her kind words and is pleased he's not getting lectured by his mother now. Why wasn't she talking to him? Maybe his mother was waiting till they were out of the hospital? Whatever the reason was, Kendall was glad she wanted, and he allowed his family to comfort him.

"So - " Gustavo begins as he gains the three's attention once Kendall is finally calmed down. They all look up at him; Gustavo sighs and says, " - As you might have guessed, Logan told us about what has been going on. Kendall, we care about you and want to help you. I signed you up for therapy with a very close therapist of mine, and I am also sending you to rehab."

"But - " Kendall tried to protest only to be silenced by Gustavo holding a hand up.

As he holds his hand up and Kendall goes quiet, he adds. "No buts, this is for your good and your health. You have many people who care about you, Kendall, and those who care about you want to help you.
So please at least give it a try?" Gustavo questions as he eyes Kendall thoughtfully.

Kendall sighs, looking back and forth at his sister, mother, and Gustavo. He knew it was the right thing to do. After all, he made a mistake, which was an excellent way to fix it. What was the harm in trying? Nodding, Kendall says, "Alright, I'll try it. I'm sorry again, everyone. I love you all too." Kendall finishes as he wipes his tears away and lays back down in his bed.

Gustavo, Mama Knight, and Katie watch as Kendall lays back on his bed and stares at the ceiling. They agreed to step out and allow James, Logan, and Carlos to come in and visit after checking with Kendall if that was alright to do so. The three walked out of the room together and back to the waiting room where the others were. Once they left, Kendall was alone, and the blonde-haired, green-eyed boy allowed himself to cry silently, thanking that he didn't get lectured and that everyone was trying to be there for him. At the same time, he was crying because he was worried about his friends' thinking. Sure, Logan already knew; heck Kendall wasn't even sure if he should be mad at Logan for him telling everyone or thankful? Either way, Kendall was crying because of the whole situation, he hated himself, and he still felt super guilty for everything.

While Kendall cried, the three made it back to the waiting room and allowed themselves to switch spots with Carlos, Logan, and James. The three were told which room Kendall was in, and they were sent back to see their close friend. Neither of the three was ready to visit Kendall, and they were nervous and worried about he would react to them coming to see him. Logan was nervous about Kendall's response, telling everyone that the boy had been using drugs. Was he mad? Happy that he told them? It was hard to predict. The three friends made their way to the hospital room in silence, not prepared for the conversations that neither of them was ready for...
