They were in love the moment they set eyes on each other. They started off as childhood friends, and then as they got older, their feelings grew stronger. Initially, they were too scared to show their true feelings. Until one day some guy from school asked Jazmine out. She was getting ready for her date. When Huey stormed into her bedroom room.
"Huey, what's going on?" Jazmine held her chest, he was pacing back and forth.
She walked over to him.
"Is everything alright-"He sealed her lips with a kiss. She was in shock at first, but once she felt his sweet hot tongue, she couldn't resist. Moments later, she was pinned against the wall while he made love to her mouth and neck.
She moaned his name and he muttered.
" I love you, " he said breathlessly. Her eyes broadened by surprise.
"Wha-What? " She blinked her eyes, she couldn't believe her ears.
He inhaled deeply and held her hand. "Jazmine, I love you." He stared at her, searching for confirmation. He was worried that she didn't say a word, but She was stunned. Inside, she was the luckiest girl she'd ever been. When Huey turned to go, feeling his heart break. She jumped on his back and screamed,
"I love you too Huey Freeman!"
"Damn Jazmine!" He laughed, placing her down gently. He turned to her and she blushed. "Heh, sorry, " she said, embarrassed. He shook his head and elevated her chin.
"No, I'm sorry to have waited so long," he said, leaning towards her. He felt a flash of tenderness in his chest while his lips pressed hers. They had a passionate first kiss. It was infuriating yet soothing.
She breathed into his mouth and melted into him. Her arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him onto the bed with her. It was safe to say that Her date was canceled that night. Instead, she was on the hill, relaxing on her boyfriend's chest, gazing at the stars.
Years went by and they were still running strong. Huey went to great lengths to make Jazmine happy, spoiled her, loved her and protected her.
One day, Huey and Jazmine were sitting by the mound. Jazmine wore her hair in naturally, embracing her Afro-curls. She wore blue summer dress. She was always insecure about herself, but being Huey's girlfriend made her more confident than ever. She lifted her eyes towards Huey, who looked at her with such admiration. He stood up and lifted her up with him, and then he said the worst thing she could ever imagine,
"Jazmine, I don't want this anymore" Huey said with a sigh.
Jazmine's eyes gave him a look of disarray.
"W-what?" she stuttered, feeling her whole world end.
"In this relationship, I can't do this anymore. I don't like it, it's not enough. "Huey said, shaking his head. Jazmine's eyes blinked as tears filled her eyes.
"So what are you saying?" said she with a weak voice.
"I'm saying I can no longer be your boyfriend" Huey admitted.
WHACK!
Jazmine slapped Huey across his face.
"How could you do this to me? After everything we've been through. I bet it's because of Brandy. " Jazmine screamed, referring to the girl from his class who constantly flirts with him.
" Ever since you met that bitch, she can't keep her hands off you. You told me I had nothing to worry about, only you've been lying to me this whole time. I hate you! You fucking bastard! " Jazmine hollered, running away.
"Jazmine, wait!" Huey yelled, running after her, grabbing her arm, pulling her into his chest.
"What!" Jazmine shouted as tears coursed down her eyes.
He gripped her hands tightly.
"Jazmine, I know we're young and I always said something like this would never happen. I'm sorry for hurting you, but I don't know how to say this" Huey said in a shaky voice." Jazmine, I love you, but, I don't want to be known as your boyfriend" Huey took a deep breath.
"You asshole! Get the fuck off me!" Jazmine hollered, yanking her hand aside, but Huey grabbed it instantly.
"Jazmine, let me finish...please" Huey pleaded.
"Why are you doing this to me? You're breaking my heart" Jazmine whimpered. He grabbed her waist and pulled her closer.
"Forgive me baby, I'm just having a difficult time." Huey admitted. "please, let me finish," he pleaded, looking at her with slight teary eyes.
She nodded her head and sniffed.
"Jazmine, I don't want the boyfriend title" Huey said again.
Jazmine began to cry once more.
"Because I want more," Huey said, kneeling before her.
"Huey, what are you doing?" Jazmine asked tearfully.
Huey's hands trembled while he extended his back pocket and pulled a black box. Jazmine was panting while he opened the box to exhibit a beautiful pear-shaped diamond ring. The ring seemed expensive and it glowed in the sun almost blinding her eyes, sculpted with the initials H and J forever. The same that Jazmine would crave on the oak tree, the same she used to scrawl on her notebook.
"H-h-Huey?" Jazmine had difficulty pronouncing, breathing heavily.
He took her hand delicately and gave it a tender kiss to calm her down. He faced her with fear in his eyes, she never saw him like this.
"Jazmine, will you marry me?" Huey asked nervously.
Jazmine's mouth widened along with her eyes.
"Will you marry me?" Huey repeated, sweat poured down his brow..
"Jazmine?"
"Yes! Yes! YES! " Jazmine shouted, hopping up and down.
"Of course, I'll marry you Huey!" Jazmine exclaimed with tears of delight.
Huey let out a sigh of relief and placed the ring on her petite finger, then he picked her up and twirled her around lovingly. He held her tightly in his arms as he carried her. "I love you, wife to be" Huey said, inclining his forehead against hers
"And I love you too, hubby to be," Jazmine said excitedly.
For the first time Huey genuinely smiled at her and so he kissed her as she nuzzled in his arms. Jazmine wanted to announce the engagement, but Huey told her that they had to keep it a secret. He knew if Tom were to find out, he would be infuriated. He never like the idea of Jazmine dating Huey. He didn't think Huey was good enough for Jazmine, but the two were like magnets and no one or nothing could split them apart.
Everyone thought they were the perfect duet. They were perfect until Grandad passed away. That's when everything turned upside down. Huey had just turned seventeen when Granddad had a stroke and died. Because Robert Freeman died in debt, everything, including The house, was claimed by the IRS, leaving Huey and Riley homeless. Aunt Cookie had volunteered to take the boys, but when they were ten, Grandad and Mr. DuBois made a commitment that if something were to happen to him, Tom would take custody of them until they turned Eighteen. Tom used to consider Huey a son to him, but now that Huey was dating his only daughter,
He had a problem with him.
However, he was a man of his word. Besides, Jazmine begged and cried, so then Tom surrendered. He reminded himself that next year Huey will be legal to leave and Jazmine will be prepared to go to a college in France. Yet he was unaware that Jazmine and Huey had other plans. After graduation, Huey and Jazmine were planning to get married, attend Maryland University, and get an apartment together.
It was an difficult time for the both of them. Riley was heartbroken and so was Huey, However, Huey dealt with his pain differently. Deep down, he was grieving, feeling the worst pain. He wasn't going crazy because he had already knew his granddad was going to die, plus he had Jazmine to comfort him. On the other hand, it was Tom that was giving him a hard time. He understood that he couldn't sleep in the same bed as Jazmine and he wasn't allowed to have sex with her. That wasn't a problem since she was saving herself for their wedding night.
Nevertheless, he was in love and he enjoyed her in his arms, kissing her soft lips. But every time Tom caught them in an act, he would shout and send Jazmine to her room. There was a time when Tom did things deliberately to keep him from Jazmine.
He complained about how high the bills were, so he told Huey he had to work, so he found a job. He attended school and worked hard. By the time he would come home, Jazmine was already asleep.
Tom established this "No kissing" rule that Huey would violate with pride. By the time graduation came, Jazmine and Huey went off and secretly eloped. It wasn't Jazmine's ideal wedding. They married quickly in a courtroom with only the two of them. Jazmine wore a silky white dress and Huey wore a shirt, vest and trousers.
It was a beautiful moment for them. Jazmine didn't care that it wasn't her fantasy wedding, However, Huey still wanted to make her dreams come true. He made a promise that when he finished college, he was gonna give her the wedding of his dreams and he meant every word.
Though he couldn't give her a fancy wedding, he wanted their honeymoon to be a peculiar night. He took her to an upscale hotel. Took her to a romantic dinner with rose petals and he sung a song to her, One of his hidden talents. They made love to her for the first time. It was amazing and he was the happiest he had ever been and now that she was his wife, no one could tear them apart, not even Tom.
One night Huey snuck into bed with Jazmine.
"Huey, we can't, my dad!" She whispered a scream.
I couldn't resist it. I miss my beautiful wife "Huey whispered, slowly climbing over her.
She blushed, loving the fact that she was his wife. They kissed each other desperately, breathing coarsely and ripping off each other's clothes. Soon Jazmine was biting her lower lip just to keep quiet, but it was so hard. Huey was giving her his all. He knew they weren't allowed to be in bed together, but he could not help himself. He had to feel his wife again.
Damn, he loved that she was his wife.
Meanwhile, Tom was walking down the hall, in his words, to take a twinkle. As he walked, he heard the sound of a creaking bed, the sound of moving sheets, a slam sound, and most of all, the sound of heavy breathing.
Tom quickly approached Jazmine's door when he put his ear to it.
"Ooh! Huey, yes! " He picked up on a high-pitched moan coming from his daughter, then more kept coming. Huey had kissed Jazmine to calm her down, but in the mind of Tom, Huey had his hand on her mouth, forcing himself on her. Tom turned the knob angrily, but the door was locked. He could have slammed on the door, but he was so furious. He grabbed his shotgun and fired at the door, dismantling it.
Jazmine screamed and jumped up while Huey pulled her out the bed and stood in front of her protectively.
Tom walked in fuming with anger. Jazmine expected her dad to try and kill Huey, but he knelt down and cried like a baby. Huey stood in shock with his eyes wide open and eyebrows raised, while Jazmine wept, covering her face with the sheets she used to cover herself. That night they revealed to her parents that they had got married causing Tom to faint. When Tom awakened, he was more enraged so he kicked Huey and Riley out the house.
Huey didn't care; he told Riley that they were going to go in with their Aunt Cookie. Jazmine tried to come, but Huey told her to stay and go to the university they planned until he comes up with the money to get them a place.
Jazmine kissed him goodbye and they departed for Chicago. Jazmine went to the University of Maryland for the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences major. While Huey went to Chicago University to major in Law Jazmine was upset when she found out Huey wasn't coming back right away.
"How could you abandon me for a whole year! There is someone else, isn't there? "Jazmine screamed, releasing her insecurities.
"Come on, Jazmine, don't be ridiculous, I love you." Huey yelled, angry that she would accuse him of cheating. "I only have eyes for one girl and that's you, my beautiful wife," Huey said softly.
Jazmin smiled abundantly and wiped a tear from her long lashes. "I love you baby and I'm sorry for accusing you. It's just I miss you so much and I'm frustrated" Jazmine admitted.
"I know babe, I miss you more. Don't worry, I'm going to spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Just please do this for me, okay? I need to make sure before I leave Chicago that my brother is in good hands" Huey informed.
"Wait for me?" he asked.
"Of course, I'll wait for you. I'll wait as long as it takes. You better visit me from time to time and call me every night, all right? " Jazmine requested.
"Yeah, ma'am, anything for my one and only," said Huey gently.
Jazmine giggled, touching her rosy cheeks.
"You promise?" she asked in a distressed tone.
"I promise," Huey said, meaning every word.
Unfortunately, that promise had been broken.
