The whole thing started with Riley. He was one of the best basketball players at Wuncler High and became the best at Chicago High. His goal was to keep up with his grades. He needed to get a scholarship so he could play professional basketball in college, so one day he could get drifted to the NBA.
It was difficult to keep up with grades attending Chicago's worst high school. Riley got into fights back to back, and often got suspended. He was nevertheless a bright kid who did his best to remain an honorary student, however, things fell apart. Aunt Cookie lost her job and was living on social security checks, there was hardly any food, and Huey remained on campus.. The only time Huey came by was once a month to give Aunt Cookie some money. He was always busy working because he wanted to save up for him and Jazmine's place.
A year passed, Huey had finally had the money to buy him and Jazmine a place and he even received money to buy her the wedding dress of her dreams. He was entirely thankful for his savings from work and his refunds checks from school. Huey was already searching for condos in Maryland. He hasn't told Jazmine the news yet because he was trying to surprise her.
Auntie Cookie was back on a fixed income, but Riley wasn't doing well. He began hanging with the wrong people and he started getting involved with the drug game. His test scores were below basic and no colleges wanted him. He barely even went to school. Huey had no idea his brother became involved in the drug game because Riley was playing it off. During that time, Huey had his transfer papers to go to the University of Maryland and he already bought his ticket to fly there.
He couldn't wait to see his gorgeous wife, but he received an urgent call from a crying Riley. He said a drug kingpin was trying to kill him because he owed him money. Huey rushed to Riley, missing his flight and paid the kingpin off with all the money he had saved.
Huey was so devastated, he didn't have the courage to tell Jazmine. Instead, he lied and told her that his aunt was sick, so he won't make it to Maryland any time soon. Jazmine was disappointed and extremely frustrated. She ended up fleeing to Chicago herself, which went wrong because she discovered that Aunt Cookie was in perfect health.
Jazmine called Huey, screaming furiously, calling him a liar, accusing him of not loving her enough, and accusing him of cheating on her with another woman. The two had a fight with Jazmine on a plane, weeping on the way back to Maryland. During that time, Huey was beating the crap out of Riley and so he grabbed his collar and shouted.
"Not only did you cost me to lose the money I worked hard for, but your stupidity is corrupting my livelihood, and mostly importantly, my marriage. You might want to pull yourself together, 'cause next time. I promise you, I'm not coming to save your sorry ass! "Huey shouted.
That was the last time Huey spoke with Riley. After that night, Huey cut him off entirely. He stopped coming around if Aunt Cookie needed anything he would transport it by mail. He kept in touch with her and never spoke to Riley again. Riley tried to contact him, and he turned him down.
Huey worked things out with Jazmine and told her the truth. She understood, but she said she was fed up with not being with him. She pleaded with him to return to Maryland. She told him she didn't care if he didn't have the money for their place, she just wanted him to come home, but Huey refused. Jazmine was upset, so upset that she went to a party with one of her classmates and ended up getting wasted. Jazmine drunkenly called Huey, and when he heard men in the background, he went ballistic.
In fact, Huey hopped on the first plan available. By the time he arrived on Jazmine's campus, it was early at dawn. He spotted Jazmine lying nude in her bed. He made an immediate assumption that she had slept with another man. He yelled at her and destroyed things in her room, before demanding that she tell him who she slept with. Jazmine denied the allegations, but he didn't believe her.
Huey was flipping out, saying things like
"Who is he? Who's the dead nigga walking? How could you do this to me! Everything I worked hard for I did for us. I'm busting my ass to please you because I wanted to give you everything I thought you deserved!"
Huey was furious and did his best to restrain the tears he refused to release. He loves her and despite the fact that she betrayed him, he still loves her. For the first time ever, he was heartbroken. He didn't know how to deal with that kind of thing, so he did what he thought he would never do. He called her a whore and broke it off with her. Jazmine begged him to stay, but it was useless. All she could do was cry.
It was one big misunderstanding.
She did go to a party, and she was completely drunk, but it was her roommate Marissa. She dragged Jazmine out of the party and brought her back to her doom. She slept naked because she vomited on herself and so Marissa helped her take out her dress and put her in the shower to help her sober up. As soon as Jazmine was sober, she was too exhausted to dress. Marissa was in class when Huey arrived, and she wasn't able to explain it to him without her.
She tried to call him, but Huey rejected her calls. Apparently, he was busy looking for the guy Jazmine slept with. After interrogating all the guys he picked. He ditched and went to the bar to express his pain with booze. He wasn't the drinking type, but that night he needed a drink. When he was on the verge of drinking his grief away, he heard a conversation between two guys. One was brown skin with hazel eyes and wavy hair. He looked of African descent and was the same height as Huey.
"
"Yo, last night was the fucking best. I got my dick sucked by two bad, redheads" he blustered.
His Caucasian friend laughed hysterically. "That's wassup! My nigga Marcus! " He exclaimed, trying his best to sound "Urban".
Marcus laughed and continued,
"But I was sick when I never got the girl I really wanted. Ok, there's this fine ass light skin girl. Bad as fuck fun-sized, green eyes and this crazy colored, curly hair. She's perfect, body and everything, her name is Jazmine DuBois. "
Huey's jaw tightened up while he listened.
"She's my lab partner in our Microbiology class. She has this angelic little voice and she's really easy to talk to, she's not conceited or stuck up, and did I mention, she's bad! " He exclaimed, licking his lips.
"Damn, so you hit that?" The friend asked.
Huey squeezed his fist together and his leg started shaking.
"Relax, relax, let me explain." So we were having a good conversation and I noticed we shared a lot in common. Just like me, She's a vegetarian and she loves animals and she wanted to become a vet. She is very extroverted, but she acknowledged that she was a little shy at times. Everything seemed to be going well, until she mentioned that she was married," revealed Marcus in a disappointed tone.
"Goddamn, she cuffed up already, how old is she?" the friend asked in disbelief.
"She's two years younger than me, she's nineteen. Ain't that some shit. ยป Marcus remarked.
"Yeah, that's some crazy shit who she married to?" The friend " She is always blabbing about this dude Huey, showing me her wedding ring. She told me about his interests which are completely opposite from her."
"The only thing they have in common is their age and they're vegetarians. Anyway, this nigga seems like the kind of guy who's disgusted by the sight of rainbows. "Marcus spoke with envy in his voice.
"That's crazy, so you met him?" The friend asked.
"That is the point. She's babbling about how good he is to her and how much she loves him, but I have yet to see this dude. As a matter of fact, check this out. He's in Chicago right now."
"Now, tell me, what kind of guy leaves his fine-ass wife alone in Maryland?" Marcus argued, showing him a picture of Jazmine from his Instagram.
"Dammmmmn! She's smoking hot" the friend exclaimed. " Bro, if you hit that you're the fucking man!" he appended.
" Actually, he's fucking dead" Huey mumbled.
Marcus smiled at the thought then he continued, " like I was saying, She claims that he's just out there temporary then when he comes back he's going to get them a place. "Marcus said, rolling his eyes.
"This nigga must have some Chicago pussy, he's not coming back," said the friend. " But then again he'll be a sucker not to come to that." He nodded.
"That's what I was thinking, so I asked her on a date, but she kept rejecting me. I tried to buy her flowers, sweets, jewelry and stuffed bears. You know, shit that would make bitches fall on their knees, but she wasn't a bitch because she wouldn't take anything," said Marcus.
Huey smirked, proud of his wife.
"Damn she's the real MVP and her loyalty game is A1" The friend remarked.
"That's what made me want her more. Then a couple days ago, I spotted her staring at her ring and crying. I asked her what was wrong. She told me she got into a huge fight with her husband and she thinks he's falling out of love with her. In my head, I was like bingo! But I had to play it cool, so I console her and listened to her, " Marcus explained.
"Then you hit?" the friend asked anxiously.
"Hang on, nigga!" After she cried in my arms for about two hours, I calmed her and I invited her to the angel's party. At first, she denied it and said she wasn't exactly a party girl, but I reassured her, she'd have fun. " He explained.
She thought about it and called me the following day to accept my invitation. Long story short, as soon as we arrived at the party, she wanted to go home, but I told her to at least have a drink, and then we can go. She said she didn't want a drink, just a soda, "Marcus explained, smiling extensively.
"Oh shit! You laced that drink" the friend said, also smiling widely.
" I sure enough did!" Marcus revealed, rubbing his hands together.
" And after a couple of slips she was turned up. She loosened up, started dancing, and shouting out, calling every guy Huey. I walked up to her and she wrapped her arms round my neck and said,
" I miss you baby in an extremely horny voice.
"Immediately, my dick was ready," said Marcus arrogantly.
"Oh shit! Oh fuck, yeah, yeah! Did you hit my nigga? " Cried the friend.
Huey felt his blood flow warm and felt it was about to explode as Marcus explained in more detail.
"Take heed! She rubbed up against me and called me Huey. I was salty as fuck that she believed I was her husband, but I went along with it. " Marcus admitted.
So I told her " I'm here babe" then I grabbed her ass and squeezed it tightly" Marcus revealed.
" Yo bro, that thing felt like Jello. I couldn't wait to bust that ass, so I carried her upstairs, kissing her and everything" Marcus exclaimed.
" Damn you are a lucky motherfucker fucker" the friend said, swaying his head
" Wife fucker" he added, causing Marcus to burst into laughter. Huey was grumbling and pressing the glass.
"Chill, hahaha! So as I was getting her out her dress, she was into it too unbuttoning my shirt, but then, she started saying no ''. She told me no again, and said I wasn't her husband. I Didn't give a fuck I was already hard as fuck, and I wasn't trying to take no as an answer. She was gonna get this dick! Marcus said it hoarsely.
"Anyway, I kissed her to try and sway her spirit, but she wouldn't kiss me back. She started crying in shit, but it didn't matter to me. I was just trying to get some pussy. I mean, I was planning to make her wifey, but she too sprung for her " husband" Marcus admitted.
"Anyway, I laid her on her stomach, lifted her dress up. It wasn't hard since she was still drunk. " Marcus described.
He continued,
"As I was putting myself behind her, I started removing my pants, but right when I was about to receive the best pussy in my life-" Marcus said, but stopped when he heard a glass scatter.
I was about to receive the best pussy in my life-"
Huey growled violently and pressed the glass so hard that it broke to pieces. The bartender gasped loudly and Marcus stopped and looked over at Huey. Marcus' eyes widened because he remembered Jazmine had a photo of him on her phone and her Instagram. Huey looked at him dangerously, his wine eyes resembled the devil's. He didn't move a soul. He just held his eyes on Marcus, who looked as if he was going to shit his pants.
Huey's hand was bleeding due to the broken glass. The bartender offered to help him, but he avoided her and continued to glare at him. Marcus felt something crawling out of his stomach, swallowed and tried to run. Huey chased him, and the minute he got Marcus, he wouldn't let him go.
He kept punching him while Marcus yelled and begged him to stop. Eventually, Marcus's friend broke him up, but then Huey turned around and attacked him, damaging his face. Things got so hectic, the police stormed into the bar and stopped Huey.
When Jazmine discovered what had taken place. Feeling ravaged, she went to the police station along with Marissa and explained what had happened which resulted in Marcus getting arrested. He was charged for criminal sexual assault for giving Jazmine a club drug, and trying to have sex with her without her consent. Though he did not rape her, thanks to Marissa who walked in before anything happened.
Once Marcus was indicted, Jazmine thought Huey would be released, however, because Huey had attacked Marcus' friend, Dylan, whose parents were furious and threatened to sue him. Jazmine instantly ran to her daddy, but he rejected her offer and told her he hopes Huey gets what he deserves. Tom was still bitter about their marriage.
The only hope she received was to beg and cry for Dylan's parents who shook their heads at her, however, Dylan's father came up with a deal. Dylan's father, a commander of the US Army, offered an arrangement to drop all charges against Huey under a condition that he join the army.
If he doesn't take the offer, Huey risks three to four years in prison. Although this was selfish on Jazmine's part, she urged him not to, but Huey told him that he would rather be a soldier than a prisoner.
Huey was on his way to the airport to meet up with the commander. He took his suitcases and placed them in the truck. Jazmine stood hugging herself, observing until he came walking towards her.
Her lips trembled as he bore his hands upon her face.
"I'm so in love with you, Jazmine. It's gonna be awhile, but I'll visit. And when this is all over, I'm gonna get you that wedding dress, and we're gonna have the biggest wedding of all time. Then I'll pick you up and we'll ride on a carriage so you can feel like a princess. " Huey said, stroking her hair.
Jazmine let out a little laugh at his princess reference.
"I know it sounds cheesy, but that's the sort of impact you put on me. I'm in love, I'm whipped, I'll acknowledge it." He said while laughing a little.
In all seriousness, Jazz, when I come back, I want to start a family. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And though, I'll be overseas. I'll always keep you on my mind. But tell me you'll wait for me? "Huey said, gazing into the depths of her sad eyes."
She didn't want him to leave, she was afraid he wouldn't come back.
"Jazmine" he said in a worried tone. Jazmine turned her head aside and closed her eyes as silent tears fell down.
"Would if you don't come back?" she asked, sobbing aggressively.
"Would if something bad happens to you and you, and you" she gagged. She was on the verge of saying the word Die, but she couldn't.
" Then you'll leave me all alone, I can't survive without you. I can't, I can't" Jazmine cried hysterically.
"Don't say that," Huey said, wiping away the tears. I won't forget you, babe. I'll come back, whatever it takes" Huey assured her, but he wasn't sure if he'll come back.
Realistically, he could die, but he wouldn't say that to her.
"No matter how lost I am, I will find you. You'll be my reason to stay alive," Huey promised.
"This is my fault," she whispered. " I should have listened. I shouldn't have been at that stupid party, she cried furiously.
"Stop saying things like that!" Jazmine, if anything. It's my fault I should have" Huey said, but the cab driver whistled loudly.
Huey exhaled deeply, " Jazmine, I have to go, but I can't leave unless, I know that you'll wait for me?" Huey said, holding her fragile fingers to his chest.
"Babe, I'll wait for you as long as it takes," said Jazmine, bringing him in for a kiss. They kissed one another like it was their last kiss. It was emotional and intense. In fact, the kiss went on for so long that the taxi driver became impatient, beeping the horn irritably.
Huey was the foremost to pull away, but Jazmine held on to his neck. She didn't want to let go, ever.
"Jazmine, I must go," murmured Huey, sensing his eyes tearing.
Jazmine kissed him once more, then she whimpered "don't be long" into his mouth.
Stay, Stay she was yelling in her head.
I don't want to go. He was screaming in his.
"I'll see you soon." I love you, but I have to go," he said, kissing the wedding band on her finger. He never wanted it to be this way, he wanted more.
"Don't leave me" Jazmine whines, she doesn't understand. "Couldn't you just tell them you can't leave," she desperately demanded.
"That's not the way things work. Goodbye Jazmine" he said, kissing her forehead. She continued to hang on to him, but he removed her hands.
""I'll write to you" Huey stated in a serious tone, pulling away again. This time, he took off without turning around. He couldn't bear to look at her anymore.
"Huey, wait!" Jazmine shouted, but Huey told the driver to pull off which wasn't a trouble. "I forgot to mention,"
Jazmine ran after the car, but she just wasn't fast enough. She stood in the middle of the street and knelt down and wept.
"I love you," she whispered.
When the car left the block, Huey felt tears running down his face, but he wiped them down quickly. He knew he had to be strong for her.
Huey spent two years completing RASP 1 & 2 then he was finally assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment to officially become an Army ranger. When he first started his training, He thought it wouldn't be much of a challenge for him since he was already accustomed to this kind of stuff, However, it is extremely exhausting.
He spent days and nights training in combat, swimming in low-grade waters, running more than 5 miles a day, and training in the cold rain and dirty mud. Traveling through high mountains and spending Several hours getting yelled at, then being forced to shorten his hair. Overall, the toughest to deal with because was missing his wife.
Though he did get a chance to see her every time he would leave, she would give him a hard way to go because she was always so emotional. Jazmine wasn't aware that he was becoming a U.S. ranger which worried her more. She always made him feel like he was going to die now, he wishes she could believe in him. The only beneficial thing was the salary. When he obtained his first check and was able to buy him and Jazmine a place to stay. He brought a three bedroom, but once he makes more money, he was proceeding to buy a bigger house.
Jazmine finally graduated and is working as a student vet. Tom was thrilled that Huey couldn't make it, and did his best to rub Huey's face when he saw him. After all these years, Tom still felt resentful toward him as Sarah accepted it. Huey never cared what Tom thought because no one could stop him from loving Jazmine.
Huey and Riley are back on speaking terms. He was attending community college for business administration, and he was dating Cindy McPearson. Aunt Cookie has finally found her dream man and is married. Everyone was doing fine, except him. Huey met a lot of friends, one particular Michael Caesar. They bonded right away and both are them had women at home, they couldn't wait to come home to. It was great to meet somebody he could identify with, but he was still in distress. He didn't like being away from his wife. The only way for him to see her was on Facetime for a maximum of 15 minutes and house visit every six months.
Though sex wasn't the primary priority in his relationship. He thought about it incessantly, and when he did visit that's all he and Jazmine did. He never gets a chance to actually take her out. They would make love all day and night, then she would have to work, and when she got home. She would cook for him and he would carry her to the bed and make love to her once more. If Jazmine hadn't taken the pill, he would have gotten her pregnant several times, but he didn't want to start a family until he finished. Although Jazmine wanted children badly, he did not like the idea of Jazmine raising their children alone, plus he wanted to see them grow up.
"So, you're going to that tattoo party? " Caesar asked.
"I don't do parties," Huey stated firmly.
"Come on, man, you got to go, by the way, we should have a little fun before the big day," suggested Caesar.
"Oh yes, that" Huey mumbled. He nearly forgot about "The big day". The day he and his fellow recruits are transported on their first combat mission to Syria. Huey hadn't told Jazmine yet because he didn't want to hurt her feelings and he wanted to tell her in person. Sergeant Russell allowed them to return home only three days before they headed the mission, and he'll tell her at that time.
"Then, are you coming or not?" exclaimed Caesar with excitement.
"Fine, but I'm not getting any stupid tattoos," Huey said, but Huey soon bit back his words. He found himself lying on the table, getting a large tattoo across his back that read JAZMINE. It had a beautiful flowery font with pink roses around it. Caesar chuckled as he got a picture of his back and when Huey finished, he showed him it.
"Jazmine is going to kill me," Huey said as they returned to the unit.
"Not when she sees her name, now if it was another woman's name, then you're in trouble," Caesar exclaimed. "But goddamn, you're crazy. I mean, I love Aaliyah, but, uh, I couldn't spend all those hours with a needle in my back," Caesar said.
"Yeah, I'm crazy right, crazy in love," Huey admitted.
Caesar laughed because it was his first time hearing Huey say he was in love.
"Yeah, me too, but Aaliyah has a smaller tattoo," he pointed out.
"Wow, Freeman, the training really, did you right," Chelsea said in a flirting tone. She was one of his female recruits. She was Hispanic and she could attract any guy, except Huey. His eyes were only for one woman.
Many women flirted with him and offered him invitations to sleep with them because they believed he was available. For protection of his wife and Army requirements. While on duty, he was not allowed to wear his wedding band, but outside of duty, he was allowed.
"Er, thank you, Chelsea," Huey said, pulling his hand away.
"So I was wondering if you wanted to have some fun," she said with a wink.
" Hey Chelsea right?" Caesar interrupted. Did you see Huey's new tattoo? "Caesar remarked, nudging Huey's arm.
"It's on his back," he noted, smiling widely.
"No, I didn't, did I?" she asked, awaiting Huey's approval to remove the bandage from his back.
Huey smirked at her and nodded.
She blushes and laughs when she takes off the bandage to display his tattoo.
"Wow, that's beautiful," she went on.
"Who's Jazmine? Your mother or something? " She asked.
"My wife, by the way," Huey said.
"Oooooh, you're married... wow" Chelsea said, disappointed. "Well, she's extremely lucky," she added.
"Actually, I consider myself Lucky, she can have so much better, but she chooses to stay by my side." Huey said, thinking about all the times he hurt Jazmine when he told her he could not come home. The loneliness she had in his absence.
The tears she shed because she missed him, not knowing that soon she'd shed more.
