Chapter 6: The Burning Passion of the Sports Festival!
Two weeks have gone by since the U.S.J. incident and the U.A. Sports Festival is finally about to begin. Class 1-A, along with the rest of U.A. High School, has had 2 weeks to prepare for this annual event. How will they fare in the competition? How will the rest of the school measure up to Class 1-A's performance?
Let the chapter begin…
Following the events of the last chapter:
(With All Might, Gran Torino, Satoshi, and Izuku)
"Alright then, the Sports Festival starts next week," All Might said, "you best get some rest and make some final preparations.
Satoshi and Izuku looked at him and Gran Torino and nodded. They walked out of the room and headed back to their classroom, excited about the upcoming competition.
"We have about 3 months to prepare them for the things to come," All Might said, "we need to get them ready for their internships as well as their second year, they haven't got much time."
"The trajectory of the future of Pro Heroes is determined by them now." Gran Torino agreed.
(With Shigaraki and Kurogiri in their hideout in Kamino Ward, Yokohama City)
"Here, give this a glance, it'll show you what I told you in detail." The lady said as she gave Shigaraki a book that details her feats and accomplishments.
Shigaraki looked at the book curiously as it read, in bold: Hunter J, the Terrifying Stonewright.
(With Satoshi and his parents)
"Mom, Dad, I'm heading out," Satoshi said as he was putting his shoes on by the door.
"Alright, be careful out there Satoshi. Make sure you do your best and don't give up till the end." Hanako, his mother, said as she encouraged him.
"You know I always do! Be sure to be watching me!" Satoshi said as he gave his parents a thumbs up.
"You know we will be, we will be at the stadium in a bit," Gen, his father, said as the trio pulled themselves into an embrace, " we're proud of you son."
"I know," Satoshi said as he closed the door behind him and left for U.A. High School.
"Our son is all grown up," Gen said.
"We have raised him well, Satoshi has a great future as a Pro Hero as well as a future with Serena," Hanako said as they went into the house and prepared themselves for an exciting day at the U.A. Sports Festival Stadium.
(With Izuku and All Might)
"You ready for this Young Midoriya?" All Might asked his green-haired protegee.
"As ready as I can be. You, Gran Torino, and Satoshi have helped me a lot in the last 2 weeks, and I think I am ready for the festival." Izuku answered as he recounted his training schedule with Satoshi, All Might, and Gran Torino as well as in his own time over the last 2 weeks.
"Before you go out there, allow me to put one more burden on you," All Might said as he pulled Izuku back, "my time as the 'Symbol of Peace' is dwindling. I can still fight, but my time is coming to a close. Since you are my successor, you will need to carry that torch in the future."
Izuku looked at All Might, not breaking focus.
"The whole of Japan is watching you. Your family, Pro Heroes, adversaries, and others are curious to see what you have to offer, so go show the world that you are my protegee." All Might encouraged him.
"How do I do that?" Izuku asked curiously.
"You show them a big smile, and you never give up," All Might replied, "you tell the world that you, the next 'Symbol of Peace', is here. You have to tell the world that 'I am here!' just like I do."
Izuku gave him an assuring nod as he looked down at his palm, he balled it into a fist.
(With Class 1-A in their classroom)
"Oh Gosh, why are people crowded out of our classroom." Ochaco cried out as a stream of people blocked the entrance of the 1-A classroom.
"Hey, why are blocking our door?" Tenya asked the masses.
"Yeah, can't you see we're trying to head to the stadium?" Minoru followed.
"They're here to scout out the competition you useless idiots," Katsuki grunted as he walked towards the door.
"Get the hell out of my way extras, you're blocking my way to the stadium," Katsuki said as the crowd continues to block the entrance.
"Hey, I said get out," Katsuki began to talk but was pulled back by Satoshi.
"Let me handle this," Satoshi said as he walked towards the door and addressed the crowd, "I don't know why you guys are here, I can't think of many reasons why you should even be here other than to declare some sort of hostile intention. But seriously, don't you have better things to do? Like preparing for the Sports Festival."
"I came here to see what you're all made of, but I guess you're all just arrogant pricks." a guy with light purple-colored hair emerged from the crowd and addressed class 1-A.
"No, the arrogant person is him," Satoshi said as he pointed towards Katsuki, "and don't call him a prick."
"Regardless, I came to check up on our competition, but I guess you're all too full of it, the name is Hitoshi Shinso, by the way," the light purple-haired boy said, "some of us in the general education course are striving to pass into the Hero course. You do well to remember that if any of you slip up, I will pull the rug from underneath you, and take your place in 1-A."
"What do you mean?" Serena asked.
"Oh, you don't know? The Sports Festival is a chance for the general course students to ascend into the hero course if we perform well," Hitoshi responded, "and if the Hero course students don't do well enough, they get relegated into the general course class."
The class muttered as they had never heard of this from Aizawa.
"I came with a declaration, so be prepared…"
"Are you done?" Satoshi interrupted as he was beginning to become irritated, "all I've heard now is yapping from you and all corners of the corridor this whole time. Like I asked earlier, don't you guys have better things to do?"
The crowd looked at Satoshi furiously.
"Okay, so we're your competition for the Sports Festival, so you came to scout us out. Fair enough. You came to see what we're made of, I understand that!" Satoshi continued, "but you crowd our classroom, waste our time and I daresay your own time, and then what? Are you getting any useful intel on us? Why bother doing this at all? You've only made more enemies and cause us to want to beat you the hell up in the Sports Festival."
"Hey I'm from Class 1-B, we know about the villain attack on you guys, don't get too full of it!" Another boy with silver hair announced to the students of Class 1-A.
"Too full of it?! What are you saying? You have the gall to come here and lecture us about getting full of it? I'm sorry, but when have we ever shown off our encounter with the villains," Satoshi scoffed, "do you have any idea what it feels like? To be helpless and at the mercy of villains? Unless you think you're All Might or any of the other Pro Heroes, which I know you're not, maybe you guys need to not be full of it."
Satoshi's words silenced the crowd as they uttered not another word.
"Now, as my classmate Katsuki said. Get the hell out of our way. NOW!" Satoshi demanded as he pushed through the crowd and headed towards the Sports stadium, the rest of the class following him.
"You were kinda cool there." Izuku and Serena said as the group walked by the raven-haired boy. Satoshi smiled as he brought his focus back on the festival.
(With Class 1-A in the waiting room)
"So I guess we aren't allowed to wear our costumes, I wonder why that is?" Serena complained, "I wanted to wear them."
"I think it makes sense for it to be fair, besides, it's not like you need it to do your thing," Mashirao said as he walked over to her.
"Is anyone else excited for what the first round is going to be?" Mezo asked.
"Regardless of what it is, we have to do our best and get through it." Fumikage reminded Mezo.
"Yeah, let's do our best!" Rikido said.
"Hey, how are you guys feeling?" Satoshi asked as he approached Izuku, Serena, Ochaco, and Minoru.
"I'm nervous, I hope I can do well in this tournament," Minoru answered.
"Same, I can't let my training go to waste," Ochaco added.
Serena and Izuku also affirmed their convictions when the door suddenly opened. Tenya Iida had entered the room and was about to address the class.
"Everyone! We're almost up, are you guys ready?" he asked as the group answered yes.
Shoto, meanwhile, approached Izuku slowly and gave him a serious look.
"Izuku, I have something to say," Shoto said as the class grew silent.
"Yeah, what is it?" Izuku looked at him, returning the serious look.
"Objectively, I think I am stronger than you, and although I don't doubt the fact that you trained hard these last 2 weeks, I stand by my claim," Shoto started, earning a glare from Satoshi and Izuku.
"I noticed that All Might has his eyes on you, and though I don't mean to pry, I'm here to say this. I'm not planning on losing to you." Shoto said as the class was visibly troubled at his statement.
"Hey knock it off, Shoto," Eijiro said as he walked towards the trio.
"Yeah, first the other students from our year, and now you? Haven't we had enough conflict for one day?" Satoshi said as he pulled him back.
"While we're at it, Satoshi, I've seen your power, I don't plan on losing to you either," Shoto said as he eyed Satoshi sternly, "we're competing against each other. We're not here to make friends, you do well to remember that."
Shoto left quickly but Satoshi stopped him.
"I don't doubt your conviction Shoto," Satoshi started, "but know this, I do not plan to lose to you either."
"Me neither," Izuku added, "I don't know what you're thinking when you said you don't want to lose to me, and I agree, I think you might be right when you say you're stronger than I am. But just like everyone in this room, I am here because I want to be a great Hero, so I'm going to give everything I got."
Shoto turned around, his serious expression carried on with unwavering determination.
"Looking forward to fighting the both of you."
Meanwhile, Katsuki was irritated that Shoto did not direct this towards him, he grunted and got up from his seat and left the room.
Kacchan.
Izuku knew that look, and he was troubled by his childhood friend's attitude, but he had no time to worry about others, he had his own Sports Festival run to be mindful of.
(In the First Year Sports Festival Stadium)
"Alright! Looks like everyone is in their seats! This means we're finally ready to begin the U.A. Sports Festival," Present Mic announced as the audience responded to him with loud cheers and applause, "welcome all audience members who have come from every corner of Japan to see our students compete in the Sports Festival! The thrilling notion of young people taking action is the best, let us welcome them with our loudest voices!"
High up in the stands, Satoshi's parents, Hanako and Gen, have secured favorable seats that allow them to see the action unfold before them. In the teacher section, the staff of U.A. High school is all silently observing the flow of the Sports Festival. All Might in particular is paying special attention to Izuku, as he expects great things to come from his protegee.
"Please join me in welcoming the first years of U.A. High School!" Present Mic announced as the crowd continued to cheer them on.
"First off, we have the students who survived and triumphed in an encounter with villains, the first freshmen class to take part in such peril in a long, long time. Please join me in welcoming Hero Course Class 1-A!"
The students of Class 1-A walked out slowly but in formation, as they responded to the cheers and applause of the audience. Many of them were looking around nervously, others simply took in the recognition.
"Though they've not had the experiences of their peers, this class has students that are both talented and show much potential! Please join me in welcoming Hero Course Class 1-B!"
Like their peers in the 1-A class, Class 1-B walked into the stadium field with determined looks on their faces as they are all striving for successful performances in the Sports Festival
"Now let us welcome general education courses, classes C, D, and E; Support course, classes F, G, and H, as well as business courses I, J, and K!" Present Mic concluded as all of the first years have now entered the stadium field.
About 2 minutes later, all the first-year students were on standby as Midnight, the R-Rated Hero, stepped onto the referee stage.
"Alright, it is now time for the First year's Athlete's Oath," Midnight announced, "representing the first years is none other than Satoshi Ketchum from Class 1-A!"
"Uhhh what? Why me?" Satoshi sweat-dropped as he began to walk up to the stage.
"Of course it's you, you got first place in the entrance exam," Serena muttered as she pushed him to go faster.
Satoshi gulped and walked up to the referee stage, he looked at Midnight with a serious expression and looked into the crowd at his parents, finding them instantly using his quirk.
"Hmph of course it's someone from the Hero course." A girl from another course said as she was irritated.
"Darn, they hate our guts," Momo said.
"I blame Katsuki, he always gets us into these bad situations," Hanta said as the class decided to ignore the comments from other classes and turned their gaze towards Satoshi.
"I pledge…" Satoshi started as he turned back towards Midnight, "to respect and abide by the rules that govern the tournament and to be fair and just in all competition in the spirit of sportsmanship."
"Thank you, Satoshi, for that wonderful Athlete's Oath," Midnight said immediately as Satoshi had stopped talking but the raven-haired boy remained on stage.
"I'm not quite done yet," Satoshi said as he took a deep breath, Midnight saw his serious expression and handed him the microphone once again.
Wait what are you doing Satoshi! Serena thought as Satoshi took the microphone.
"I also pledge…" Satoshi turned round to his classmates and competitors, "to win it all."
Any cheers and applause that Satoshi had received beforehand had all but disappeared, instead, what greeted him now were 'boos' and other forms of noises that one can only consider as an anger response.
"I did not expect him of all people to say something like that," Hanta said as the rest of the class collectively sweat-dropped.
"Yeah, that was behavior that I thought only Bakugo was capable of." Minoru pointed out as the aforementioned peer glared at him, causing the former to hide behind.
"What were you thinking Satoshi?" Serena asked angrily as she interrogated her boyfriend when he left the referee stage.
"I made a declaration of war, it didn't sit right with me that everyone else could do it." Satoshi replied, "if they want to see me lose, then they have to do it themselves."
"So you decided to do that by forcing their hands?" Ochaco asked.
"I'm forcing all of our hands," Satoshi answered as he turned away from his classmates, "that's how this works in the real world. playtime is over y'all, time to get serious about this."
Their attention quickly turned as Midnight began speaking into the microphone again.
"All right then, now that we've had the Athlete's Oath out of the way, it is time to get started with the first even," Midnight announced as screens lit up in the 4 corners of the stadium, "this first event is akin to a preliminary round. Only those who can come out on top can make it to the next round. In the past, countless students have fallen to this section of the tournament."
The screens have now scrambled and began to shuffle, as the events moved, it stopped finally at the event called 'Battle Royal'.
"Looks like this year's starting event is a 'Battle Royal', how exciting!" Midnight announced, "we have 11 classes of 22 students each, which makes 242 students, they will be split into two groups of 121 students each. The students will knock each other out using their quirks until 30 students remain, for a total of 60 that will advance to the second round. Now, it is time to group the students up."
The screens on the board all lit up as the name cards of all the students began shuffling in place and then, a line separated the screen and placed 121 students on each side.
Satoshi began looking for his name card immediately and found it quickly, he was in the second group. The rest of class 1-A also found their name cards as they were separated into both groups, and somehow, there were 11 of them in each group.
Izuku was in the first group alongside Serena, Shoto, Eijiro, Minoru, Mezo, Hanta, Mina, Momo, Fumikage, and Rikido.
Satoshi was in the second group with Tsuyu, Tenya, Ochaco, Denki, Katsuki, Yuga, Toru, Kyoka, Mashirao, and Koji.
"Now, the first group will be on the field." Midnight announced.
The 121 students from the second round left the field as the first round took place.
"Our Medical team is ready to move the students that are knocked out. Remember, you have to stay within the bounds of the stadium field," Midnight announced, "now show us a spectacular performance, students! Ready! Set! Go!"
The huge explosion popped off as the start of the first round of the Battle Royal had begun.
"Hmph, this should be easy," Shoto said as he quickly fired up an ice attack that engulfed the entire field, catching just about everyone off guard. The ice traveled a long distance and caught all of the students.
"Wait! What is this? Todoroki froze everyone in an instant! What unbelievable power, expected of course from the current No. 2 Hero, Endeavor's Son. But hey, you know we need 30 students to qualify for the next round, right?" Present Mic announced quickly as he, along with the audience, was surprised at the immediate turn of events.
Before Present Mic could continue commentating, a few figures broke free from the ice.
"Wow, you really don't hold back huh Shoto?" Serena complained as she thawed herself out of the ice.
Tetsutetsu and Eijiro also emerged as they broke the chunks of ice around them. Mezo, Fumikage, Izuku, and a couple of other Class 1-A and Class 1-B students followed as they also broke out of the ice.
"You need to be more careful with your attacks, you know, we're not trying to kill people here," Serena said with a serious expression. Her palm glowed an aqua blue as she summoned forth a torrent of water, she then hurled the jet of water towards her opposition, blasting everyone around her away and sending them flying.
"Look who's talking. It seems like we're the same." Shoto taunted as he called forth a huge ice block and hurled it towards Serena.
"Oh, I wouldn't say that at all Shoto," Serena said as she went for an electric attack that broke through the attack of Shoto, almost landing a direct hit.
"So what now? You have Denki's quirk?" Shoto demanded, "what kind of joke is this? Are you cheating?"
"As I said, I wouldn't say that," Serena smirked as she summoned flames from her left arm and wind on her right arm. She combined it to form a large heatwave. She then sent it throughout the stadium field, throwing Shoto backward, thawing down almost all the ice, and releasing all the trapped students.
"What a surprising combination move?! Serena Yvonne from Class 1-A has thawed everyone out of their icy prison, but why would she do that? What if they attacked her?" Present Mic announced, "what do you think of this move Eraser Head?"
"Hmph, it is curious why she did that, but it seems like," Aizawa followed up, "it could be because it makes for a more exciting competition? She also solved the 30 people problem."
Things weren't quite as Aizawa had expected, though many of the students have recovered from the icy trap set on them by Shoto many of them were unconscious.
"Look like the competition started as quickly as it ended, many of the students that are thawed remain unconscious," Present Mic announced, "we are cutting close to the threshold of remaining students, and all 11 students in Class 1-A are still in the competition."
Izuku looked around to see many of the competitors still around him. All of these classmates were there, and they were all trying to fight to be in the last 30 places.
"This is not the time to be dozing off!" Mina yelled as she blasted some slippery acid towards Izuku, threatening to trip him, he managed to dodge it barely before he was ambushed by a general course student.
"I got you now!" The student yelled as she tried to land an empowered punch onto Izuku, but Izuku simply dodged the attack and returned a kick that knocked her out.
The battle on the field continued as student after student was knocked out, Shoto and Serena decided against fighting each other and instead focused their energy on the rest of the competition. The rest of the 1-A students decided to follow their example.
Minoru and Mezo worked together, albeit coincidentally, as they knocked out about 10 people using Minoru's grapes balls and Mezo's super strength.
Hanta used his tape quirk to fling a lot of the other students around and knocked them together. Momo created a metal shield and defended herself from incoming attacks while Fumikage used Dark Shadow and Rikido used his Sugar Rush to knock everyone around them backward.
The scuffle continued for a few more minutes until 30 students were left standing. Shoto and Serena looked around the field and then at each other, giving each other an approving smile as they were happy to see the other advance. The stadium had erupted into cheers and applause as the crowd yelled their hearts out at the fascinating display of power, speed, and wide range of quirks used on the battlefield.
(Off the field with Satoshi and the other 120 students)
Tsu, Tenya, Denki, Ochaco, and the rest of the first years looked at the battle between the two with awe.
"Damn, your girlfriend is super strong!" Denki hollered at Satoshi, "her electric powers are scary."
"No, her battle skills are strong. Her electricity is not as strong as yours, Denki, not strong enough to fry her brain at least," Satoshi replied, "this means that your peak is higher than hers."
"But she can still control all of those elements!" Tenya said, "Yvonne is quite the subtle one."
"She's what I would call a jack of all trades, she hits hard with a lot of elemental attacks," Satoshi continued talking, "but not the more powerful moves compared to those with one of the quirks as their main quirk."
Their attention was captured as Midnight spoke again into the microphone.
"After a thrilling 'Battle Royal', we finally have our 30 students, and all of class 1-A remain," Midnight announced, "the field has been cleared of ice and students, so now let's welcome the second group, which consists of the bold representative of the first years, Satoshi!"
"It's our turn now, let's get this going." Tsuyu point out to the group as they all went towards the field.
Satoshi went on the field and instantly took a deep breath, channeling energy into his body, he was not waiting for an announcement any longer, he was ready.
"Alright, looks like group 2 is ready to take the stage," Midnight announced, "once again, please do show us a wonderful performance, students! Ready! Set! Go!"
Ochaco, Tsuyu, and Tenya heard grunting and the sound of people collapsing as soon as the explosion signal was set off as they saw students falling left and right, the culprit was Satoshi, who was running around the field, knocking out all the students that weren't in class 1-A.
"He's real fast," Tenya complimented, "well it's no time to be idle, let's get going."
Tenya followed Satoshi's train of thought as he also used his speed to great effect, even matching Satoshi's speed as he knocked out many people. His engine came in real handy as it guided his movement through the field, being a great defensive and offensive tool.
Meanwhile, Ochaco and Tsuyu decided to work together as a team. Ochaco used her quirk to make the students float into the air while Tsuyu grabbed them with her tongue and hurled them onto the ground, knocking them unconscious in one swift combo, they eventually had to disperse when they were separated,
Satoshi, meanwhile, had finally encountered some resistance, as he stared down the silver-haired boy who hollered at his classmates earlier in the day.
"Wow, you actually are strong, If I wasn't able to turn myself into steel, then I would have been knocked out like the rest of them. My name is Tetsutetsu by the way, nice to fight ya." Tetsutetsu said as the duo traded blow for blow.
The rest of the competition got busy as Satoshi was preoccupied.
With her quirk being Invisibility, Toru was one student that actually had a chance to launch a lot of attacks on those around her. Though her uniform revealed her, she found a way to knock others out as she sneaked upon them when they were unaware of her presence.
Katsuki refused to allow his classmates to have all the glory as he blasted the competition, blasting everyone around him away. He launched from corner to corner, knocking out students quickly. Soon enough, his eyes were drawn towards the fighting Satoshi and Tetsutetsu, and he saw a good opportunity to blast them away. He launched himself towards them, trying to land a hit on them, he was successful as both of them got caught in the explosion and were pushed back.
"Hey, what's with the sneak attack?! Can't you see we're having a reserved, private fight here?" Tetsutetsu asked in an annoyed tone.
"You think I care about your stupid fight? This is a Battle Royal, you nerds. I can hit anyone I want to, and I chose you two." Katsuki smirked.
Satoshi and Tetsutetsu eyed each other and decided to turn the tables on Katsuki. Satoshi launched a blue sphere to Tetsutetsu who punched it, giving it a big boost in momentum. The sphere zoomed across the field and found itself connected with Katsuki's face, knocking him onto the ground. Katsuki got up quickly and saw the duo standing right on top of him.
"We're giving you one choice, Spiky Blonde Pomeranian…" Tetsutetsu warned.
"...leave our fight alone, there are so many students you can knock out, go find some other people to tangle with," Satoshi said as the duo left him.
Katsuki looked on with confusion as the duo left him and went straight back to fighting each other without an extra second thought.
What a weird duo. Katsuki thought as some of the audience members began to laugh as they observed this peculiar yet hilarious phenomenon.
The rest of class 1-A were doing well for themselves too. Kyoka and Koji used their quirks to subdue and immobilize their opposition, Denki and Yuga used their long-range attacks to knock people out from a distance and Mashirao used his tail and his arms to maneuver around the battlefield.
15 minutes passed and the second set of 30 students was declared. Once again all of Class 1-A advanced to the next round. The survivors of the first group stepped onto the field and joined the second group, together they formed the 60 man group that will be taking part in the next.
They were once again greeted with cheers, as the audience loved what they are seeing, they gave their applause to the students that were able to advance to the next round. The students looked at the audience members with bright smiles on their faces as they were also happy at their performance.
(With All Might on the stands)
Young Midoriya and Ketchum have both survived to the next stage, this is within my expectations. All Might thought as he wore a satisfied expression on his face.
"I wonder how the students are doing mentally, they won't be getting a lot of time to rest for the next course," Snipe addressed All Might, "what do you think about this development All Might?"
"I think this is a great chance for the students to recognize the hard work a Hero has to do," All Might answered, "we get no breaks when villains decide to strike, and neither will they in the future. They have to be prepared for the worst, and this competition is no exception."
Snipe turned towards the field as he agreed with All Might's opinion. The crowd continued to be lively as the Sport's Festival continues on and on.
(Back on the stage with Midnight and the students)
"Congratulations to the students who have survived so far, right now we have 60 students who will participate in the next round, "Midnight announced, "now let's see what the next event is."
Immediately after Midnight stopped talking, the screen started shuffling events around, and after a few seconds of waiting, the wheel stopped on the 'Obstacle race event'.
"Looks like the next event in the Sports Festival is the obstacle course race, I will explain the rules for this event now," Midnight announced, "this event will take place outside of the stadium. The race is 4 km long with 4 obstacles around the stadium. As long as you remain on track, you are free to use your quirks however you want to gain any edges you wish to have. The first student back into the stadium is the winner of this event."
The students muttered as they were all excited to start this event.
"Students, please line up by the start line, the lights displayed are your signal, when the 3 lights are all gone, then you may start the race," Midnight announced, "now, without further ado, let the second event begin!"
The stadium was filled with hollers, cheers, and everything in between, the audience members were excited for the second event to begin, and so were the students. They all got ready as the lights began to dim.
Satoshi, All Might, and Gran Torino helped me with my speed, and I will not disappoint them. Especially Satoshi, I won't lose to him. Izuku thought.
I used my full power last week, and everyone in 1-A knows what I can do. I won't slack off now, I made the declaration to win. I intend to hold that declaration true. Satoshi thought as the last time turned off, signaling the start of the race.
With the dimming of all three lights, an explosive sound echoed through the stadium as the students ran through the stadium exit quickly, each not wanting to give an edge to the other.
Shoto was the first one to exit the stadium, who was skating on the frozen ground thanks to his ice. What he did not expect was behind him, Katsuki, Serena, Satoshi, Tenya, and the rest of the competitors have already joined him in exiting the stadium.
"Hmm, you guys catch on very quickly." Shoto said, "where's the speed that you used last week, Satoshi?"
"If you think I'm dumb enough to use it with all this ice around, then you've got another thing coming," Satoshi said as he threw Aura Spheres to break the ice and bounce forward using the broken ice.
Meanwhile, Satoshi was overtaken by Serena who, like Shoto, glided on the ice.
"Thanks for letting me borrow the ice Shoto," Serena said as she was accelerating and glided right by him, "see you later though." Serena pushed herself forward with a blast of wind that propelled her forward.
"Hmph, just what I thought was coming up, you do have a knack for this." Shoto complimented as he continued to glide forward, not wanting to give up his number 1 spot.
"Would you look at that! Class 1-A has this race all figured out, they are all breezing through the competition, but what happens when they come face to face with the first obstacle?" Present Mic commented, "get ready to be crushed by 'Robo Inferno'!"
Serena and Shoto stopped when they were met with towering robots that blocked their way forward.
"What?! These robots again?" Serena stammered as she had seen these before at the entrance exams, "are they out of their minds? Sending those things to deal with us?"
"Hey, what are you two standing around for? Keep going forward." Satoshi yelled as he grabbed one of the robots and tore chunks of the armor off. Using the force of the tear, Satoshi propelled himself upwards as he jumped forward, claiming first place in the race.
"What a turn of events! Satoshi Ketchum has claimed the first place!" Present Mic said, "these class 1-A students are something else."
"Well, I guess there's no way to it," Shoto said as he waved his right hand and released a large ice pillar that engulfed the robot, instantly stopping the incoming robot. Serena also froze the other robots, using this opportunity to run past them. They were now fighting for second and third place.
Izuku, Katsuki, and the rest of 1-A continued to charge forward but they were all blocked by the advancing robots.
"Alright, let's run under them," Izuku said, but he heard the faint sound of Shoto coming from ahead of him.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Shoto smirked as the robot began to collapse, "I froze them when their balance was off, they'll collapse on you."
Thinking fast, Izuku charged up a 5% smash and destroyed the falling chunks of the robot. He found a piece of armor and decided to hold onto it, not wanting to overuse his quirk. Tenya took advantage of this opportunity and ran alongside Izuku, kicking and disabling the robots.
The debris landed on Eijiro and Tetsutetsu but they punched it away and continued moving forward, following closely behind Satoshi, Shoto, Serena, Izuku, and Tenya.
"Hmph, I guess running under them won't be sensible anymore," Katsuki said as he launched himself over the robot, propelling himself with his explosions, following him closely are Fumikage and Hanta, who also used the robots to propel themselves forward.
A lot of the students have cleared the first obstacle within the minute, with most of them being students from class 1-A.
(With the teachers in the stands)
"As expected, many of the students that advanced are from class 1-A," Sniper commented, "they are getting fired up for the final event."
"Some of the kids from class 1-B are also doing well." All Might said as he observed Kyoka and Denki disrupting the robots using their respective quirks on the screen.
"The difference that sets this class 1-A from others is their experience," Thirteen added.
"They have little to no hesitation now, their encounter with the villains informed them of the cost of that." All Might said, "They know what they must do."
The screen shows more and more 1-A students moving forward as Momo, Mineta, and the others created a path to the second obstacle.
"Wow, the first obstacle was cleared in no time. Perhaps it was too easy? I guess it's time to tune in to Satoshi, who is close to the second obstacle. This one is rather shady, so prepare yourself for some green action." Present Mic announced as he earned the collective groan from all the audience members and teachers alike.
"Can we dispense with the puns please, Present Mic?"Aizawa said, earning the cheer of the crowd, much to the dismay of Present Mic.
(With Satoshi currently in the first place)
Satoshi had just arrived at the second obstacle, it was a narrow path with swinging logs coming back and forth.
"Welcome to the second obstacle, 'The Wood Hammer'! The students have to dodge or avoid the wooden logs by running past, above, or underneath them; they may also circumvent them in any other way that they wish, but remember, stay on the path." Present Mic announced.
Dad definitely trained me for this obstacle. Satoshi thought as he closed his eyes and began to identify the movement of the logs. He used his aura to sense the pattern of the incoming logs. As soon as he identified it, he began dodging them as he ran forward in a state of complete blindness.
Even though he had closed his eyes, Satoshi effortlessly evaded every single one of the wooden logs and arrived at the other side in no time. He took a moment to take a deep breath before he began to run ahead.
"Hmph, piece of cake." Satoshi said as he sees Shoto and Serena arriving on the other side, followed by Izuku and the rest of the competitors, "see you guys at the third obstacle!"
Serena and Shoto grit their teeth as they both tried to run through the wood, but they barely evaded the trees as they threatened to knock them out of bounds. Shoto decided against running and creating an icy highway that got him across safely while Serena used the wind pressure to create a whirlwind that lifted her above the trees, getting her across the obstacle.
Katsuki meanwhile just used his explosions to propel him upwards as he flew to the other side, he was determined to catch up with the people in front of him, especially hoping to beat the raven-haired teen in the first place.
Izuku also wasted no time, using his fingers to create a moderate amount of wind pressure that distorted the movement of the logs. He used the decreased movement of the logs to climb on top of them and jumped quickly on the other side.
(Back in the stadium with Satoshi's parents)
"Wow, Satoshi is using the technique that you taught him, how brilliant Gen!" Hanako cheered as she was excited and proud to see her son do so well in the tournament.
"I agree, he is using the training that we taught him well," Gen added, "his experience with the villains, is something to be wary of but cherished. Any signs of him hesitating has been diminished, he is no longer the little boy that we have to protect now, he has found people and things that he has to protect."
(With Satoshi at the third obstacle)
Satoshi continued to run forward as he met face to face with a large chasm, chunks of rock pillars stood in front of him as he saw ropes dangling on the edges of those rocks.
"The third obstacle is called 'The Fall', if you fall into the chasm you are disqualified immediately, your best chance is to crawl across the chasm to get to the other side to avoid the rocky situation." Present Mic announced as more audience members face-palmed at the terrible puns.
Looks like I'm going to have to do this the hard way. Satoshi thought as he grabbed the rope tightly and began to crawl across the chasm. Slowly but surely, he made his way across the chasm.
He was halfway across the chasm when Shoto, Serena, and Katsuki showed up. Shoto used his ice to glide across the ropes while Serena and Katsuki took to the skies using their wind powers and explosions respectively. Izuku, meanwhile, was behind them crawling slowly towards the edge, just like Satoshi. He also couldn't afford to slack as the rest of the students have also caught up to him.
Ochaco used her quirk, Zero Gravity to float across the chasm; Hanta used his tape to propel him forward; Tsuyu, using her powerful leg muscles, jumped from rock to rock, and members from class 1-A continued to move forward as they try to clear.
When all is said and done, the quartet that covered first to the fourth place was had all arrived at the other side of the chasm, with Satoshi holding onto first place. They all cleared the third obstacle and edged towards the fourth one.
This is the last spurt, let's finish this with a win. Satoshi thought as he continued running forward, followed closely by Shoto, Serena, and Katsuki.
The next obstacle that greeted them had the label of 'Danger Mines', Satoshi observed several on the ground as he discerned the locations of the mines and began evading them.
A few moments later, Izuku had finally arrived at the other side. He took just a moment to catch his breath then took off running.
I can do better than this. He thought.
"The fourth and final obstacle, it's a minefield, though you can see them clearly if you tried, you still have to avoid them, obviously they are used in games only, so they are not that powerful, but they will still give you the jump scare if you give them the chance to." Present Mic said.
"Speak for yourself Mic," Aizawa added as the audience members began to laugh as Present Mic had just exposed himself.
Satoshi tried to go over them carefully, but the sound of a certain classmate dissuaded him.
"Hey, Raven-haired nerd, you've evaded me long enough!" Katsuki yelled as he jumped forward alongside Shoto and Serena, all trying to out-pace Satoshi.
"You two really should stop declaring war against the wrong people," Katsuki said as he decided to blast Shoto and Satoshi with his explosions to slow them down.
"A new person has taken the lead, although just barely! Katsuki Bakugo, also from class 1-A, what a fascinating turn of events." Present Mic announced as the crowd cheered on the wonderful display that the students are showing.
Izuku saw that he was behind a lot of people. I can't take the same approach, I have to think of a way to move forward quickly.
He thought of an idea and quickly put it to action, using the piece of armor he obtained from the robot, he began to dig into the ground, gathering the mines, one by one he gathered them into a pile that, in his judgment, was sufficient enough to carry out his plan with.
These mines aren't that powerful, but they will still explode upon stepping on them. If I can use the power created by their explosions to propel myself forward. Since everyone is moving carefully to avoid the mines, this means they are also moving slowly. The further you move ahead, the more mines there are, which means you are going slower and slower. If I take advantage of this hindrance, then I can catch up with the fighting quartet in the front. Izuku thought as numerous other competitors looked at his actions with great confusion.
This will work, it has to. Izuku thought as he quickly got on the chunk of armor and jumped onto the mines that he collected.
Upon impact, the mines created a huge explosion that sent him flying across the field, evading all of the mines as well as the competitors in his way.
"What is this? Class 1-A's Izuku Midoriya has suddenly shifted the balance and propelled himself forward as he is on hot pursuit of first place," Present Mic announced, "actually that's a lie. It looks like he has already taken the lead with his brilliant idea."
Satoshi, Serena, Shoto, and Katsuki looked on as the green-haired boy zoomed across them.
"Oh no you don't," Satoshi hollered as he moved forward instantly, changing his target from Katsuki to Izuku, running and jumping behind him.
"Hey, you don't get to go in front of me, Damn Deku!" Katsuki yelled as he flew forward, trying desperately to catch up with his rival.
"I guess this can help those behind me, but I have to worry bout what's in front of me!" Shoto said as he create an ice field and glided along the path, moving forward as fast as he can.
"Looks like we're all getting serious, then I can't lose this race!" Serena stated loudly as she propelled herself forward, catching up with everyone in front of them.
"Wow, would you look at that? The students that were formerly first to fourth place have stopped slowing each other down and are now after Midoriya. The common foe has quelled their fighting. The race isn't over though! Who can come on top!" Present Mic announced as the crowd cheered and applauded at the interesting turn of events.
Izuku, meanwhile, felt that he is losing critical speed, he looked down to see that the quartet have caught up to him.
I can't lose here, I've gained such a lead, I need to grab hold of this chance I created, I have to keep moving forward. Izuku thought as he found an opening.
He did a flip as he was mid-air and used Katsuki and Shoto's back as a landing pad. He turned the armor he was holding around and bashed the ground, launching himself forward with the explosion he created that, at the same time, pushed Satoshi, Shoto, Serena, and Katsuki away from him. He landed on the ground and got up immediately, using the momentum he gained to run forward.
"Midoriya moves forward spectacularly, not allowing those behind him to catch up. He cleared the minefield easily and now holds control over first place as he runs swiftly towards the finish line," Present Mic announced excitedly, "Your class is kind of amazing Eraser Head, just what are you teaching those students?"
"I didn't do any of this," Aizawa responded, "They motivate each other to be the best, and they are the ones who got each other all fired up!"
The quartet blew the smoke away immediately and are running swiftly behind Izuku, Satoshi looked on at Izuku who was running before him, and he couldn't see the concerned boy that had no hope for himself anymore.
Even then, I won't lose to you. Though Satoshi was glad that Izuku made so much progress, it just made him want to beat him more. After charging himself with more energy, he moved forward past the other three, catching ever so closely to Izuku.
"The first student back into the stadium is the winner of this event" echoed through the minds of the top 5 students as the finish line was ever so close to them. Izuku still maintained first place, but in the corner of his eye, he could see Satoshi moving closer and closer to him.
"Izuku! I won't lose to you!" Satoshi yelled as he had almost caught up to him.
I won't lose to you too! "Satoshi, thanks for racing with me, but you've beaten me many times…" Izuku hollered as he managed to be the first person to enter the stadium, earning the cheers and applause of the audience members.
Izuku stopped to take a breath as Satoshi ran into the stadium.
"…now it is my turn to beat you. Finally." Izuku said as his eyes met with Satoshi.
"U.A Sports festival, your second event was full of turns and surprises, and no one could predict this result at the beginning of this race," Present Mic announced, "the winner of the Obstacle Race is none other than class 1-A's Izuku Midoriya!"
Izuku looked at the crowd and took in his moment of triumph, he then turned his attention towards Satoshi as he held out a hand to him.
"That was a good run, congratulations, Izuku." Satoshi grinned, "though I was hoping for a different result, your victory was a well-earned one and an eye-opener for me."
"Thank you, this was my first, and I plan to use the lesson I learned here to do better in the future." Izuku smiled as he shook Satoshi's hand.
"That's what I like to hear," Satoshi said as the duo gave each other a fist bump.
The rest of the students gradually entered the field. They were tired but also glad that it was over, even though some of them had wished for better results.
The second round is now over, and the top 16 places have been decided.
"With the end of the obstacle race, we now have a ranking for the final round." Midnight announced as all eyes turned to the big screens around the stadium, "the results are as follows, in descending order."
Izuku Midoriya
Satoshi Ketchum
Shoto Todoroki
Katsuki Bakugo
Serena Yvonne
Ibara Shiozaki
Tenya Iida
Fumikage Tokoyami
Eijiro Kirishima
Hanta Sero
Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
Mina Ashido
Momo Yaoyorozu
Denki Kaminari
Ochaco Uraraka
Hitoshi Shinso
"We will have a one-hour lunch break, when we return, the final event will be upon us!" Present Mic announced, "the top 16 placed students in this race will advance to the final round, which consists of fifteen 1-on-1 matches in an elimination bracket. Please look forward to the spectacular contest that is yet to unfold!"
(With Izuku, Serena, and Satoshi)
"Wow, you surprised me there, Izuku," Satoshi said as the trio walked together to get some lunch, "I honestly thought I had first place in the bags."
"Well, I had to use the training we went through to some degree, otherwise it would have been a waste," Izuku said as the trio found a few empty chairs by Shoto, who was eating alone.
"Hey Shoto, can we sit by you?" Satoshi asked as Shoto stared at the trio for a moment, he gave them a quick nod as the trio sat down beside him and started eating.
"Congratulations Izuku…" Izuku stopped as Shoto offered a congratulatory gesture to his classmate, "…that was quite the impressive comeback."
"Uhhh, thanks, I guess," Izuku responded as he was taken aback by Shoto, but that didn't stop the former from giving the latter a wide smile.
"I'm glad you got something done, your first win huh?" Shoto continued, "hopefully this isn't your last one."
"I'll do my best," Izuku said as Satoshi observed his friends having a somewhat normal conversation.
"Serena, you're really strong. You matched my ice powers, and you can thaw ice as I could." Shoto addressed Serena. Satoshi, meanwhile, looked at the former and studied his expression.
"Shoto…why aren't you using your left side?" Satoshi asked after a long pause, "you'd have a much better time against Serena, yet you choose to withhold your power."
"Yeah, I don't think that you are arrogant enough to hold back," Izuku added, "so there must be another reason why you chose not to use your left side."
Shoto looked at all three people in front of him and sighed.
"I did not want to break my pledge," Shoto started, a comment which intrigued the two boys, "Remember what I said about you and All Might's connection Izuku?"
Izuku nodded as he took him.
"Well we can dispense with the baseless speculation," Shoto said, not wanting to make the conversation more awkward.
Izuku, Serena, and Satoshi looked at Shoto as the latter wore a stoic expression.
"To be frank with the three of you. You know Endeavor, the No. 2 Hero, is my father right?" Shoto asked as the trio nodded quickly, "he always wanted to be the best, and he did so in a manner that could only be described as brutal and overwhelming. yet All Might's position as No.1 always eluded him. Eventually, my father knew that he couldn't surpass All Might by himself and gave up on his chances. Instead, he made a new plan."
"Do you guys know what a Quirk Marriage is?" Shoto asked Satoshi, Serena, and Izuku, who looked towards one another and nodded.
"It's the phenomenon where two people get married based on their quirks?" Satoshi answered after a moment of thought, "I think it became a problem in the 3rd generation since quirks first appeared."
"I thought it was the 2nd generation?" Serena asked quickly.
"It was both I think," Izuku whispered to the honey-blonde girl as the latter gave him a nod.
"Anyway, they were made by couples that wanted to produce more the next generation that was more powerful," Satoshi interrupted the duo as he faced Shoto, "as the objective was to merge the quirks of the parents to produce the stronger next generation.
"It was a phenomenon that could force people into marriages due to the obvious lack of ethics and regulation of laws, and of course, the hunger in the pursuit of power." Shoto continued.
Satoshi, Serena, and Izuku stared at him, feeling the ominous turn of the conversation. Somewhere in the back of their minds, they started to have an idea of what Shoto was eluding to.
"My father was vastly wealthy, he also had a lot of fame and achievements, so he won my mother's family over with large sums of money, to force her to be married to him," Shoto looked down at the table as he explained to the trio, "he used my mother's quirk, along with his own, to create me."
Shoto took a deep breath as he looked up at the trio.
"I am just a tool in his own goals to surpass All Might. I was raised to fulfill his selfish desires," Shoto said as the trio gasped in horror at this revelation.
"It's irritating and infuriating, becoming a tool of someone like him," Shoto vented as he was beginning to get angry, "my mother was always sad, and she cried all the time, as far as I could remember."
"What I also remember is she saying, "I hate your father, I hate his ugly face, and your left side" as she poured boiling hot water on me," Shoto said as he placed a hand on the scar on his face, the same spot that Satoshi had asked about a week ago.
"I started that declaration this morning with you to prove to him that I can win completely by rejecting his power," Shoto added.
"Izuku, if there is indeed some sort of connection between you and All Might," Shoto concluded as he began to stand up and walk away, "then I have all the more reason to beat you in the Sport's Festival."
Satoshi had a sick feeling in his stomach, he looked towards Shoto with compassion and regret.
"Shoto, wait, I did not know…" Satoshi started, but he could not continue.
Shoto did not turn his back but stopped to wait for Satoshi to talk. As he heard nothing, Shoto walked away without hesitation.
(40 minutes later, after lunch break was over)
"Alright, everybody! Welcome back to the final round of the U.A. Sport's Festival!" Present Mic announced, "For those of you who did not make it into the final round, you need not be worried since we have a lot of recreational games that everyone can participate in!"
The crowd cheered as much as the students did, as they were glad to participate in more recreational games.
"After the recreational games are done, the top 16 of the obstacle race will advance to the final round! As I have said earlier, the students will be put into an elimination bracket consisting of fifteen 1 on 1 matches." Present Mic announced.
"Wow, a 1 on 1 bracket! I'm pumped!" Serena said, "it's about time to show everyone what I'm made of."
"I get to fight on the stage that I have watched all these years!" Eijiro pumped his fist as he was filled with joy and excitement.
"Quiet please!" Midnight announced as the screens behind her started shuffling the name cards, "the bracket is being created as we speak. Once the bracket has been finalized, then it is time to begin the recreation games. Participants in the final round can choose whether or not they want to take part in the recreation games, as the alternative is preparing for the final event."
"The bracket is about to be determined, contestants and audience members, can I direct your attention to the center screen please!" Midnight announced as the screens have stopped spinning as the matchups have been determined. On the screen, 8 matches were displayed as follows:
Hitoshi Shinso vs Izuku Midoriya
Hanta Sero vs Shoto Todoroki
Satoshi Ketchum vs Denki Kaminari
Fumikage Tokoyami vs Momo Yaoyorozu
Ibara Shiozaki vs Tenya Iida
Mina Ashido vs Serena Yvonne
Eijiro Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
Katsuki Bakugo vs Ochaco Uraraka
The fellow battlers greeted each other with determination and composure (though Katsuki did not know who Ochaco was)
"Looks like the bracket for the final round is complete! Alright then, let's get ready to begin the recreational games!" Present Mic announced.
The recreational games started and went for about an hour, in that time, all the contestants prepared for the final round in their way.
(With Satoshi and Serena, sparring in a small gym in the stadium)
"So how would you deal with Denki if you were me?" Satoshi asked Serena, "I know I'm more than fast enough to dodge his attacks, but his electricity is super powerful, and I don't have a way to discern its range."
"Well if you want to, maybe you can practice against me using my electric attacks and formulate a plan accordingly," Serena suggested.
"I guess it's a good idea that we are using this time to spar with each other huh," Satoshi started as he hurled an Aura Sphere towards Serena, who intercepted the attack by using electric attacks.
"Start running around, I'll throw electric shocks at you and you can dodge them," Serena suggested as Satoshi gave her a nod and began running
Serena released an electric shock blast that Satoshi dodged by jumping, while he was in the air he was quickly electrocuted as Serena found an opening and threw electricity at him.
"Wow, you're not holding back on me at all," Satoshi said as he shrugged off the electricity.
"You know, maybe if I gave you a few electric showers, then perhaps you can endure the electricity that Denki throws at you." Serena teased as she stuck her tongue out at Satoshi.
"That just sounds like too much fun for you my dear." Satoshi laughed, "so how are you planning on beating Mina?"
"Well, I got you to help me right?" Serena asked.
"Well, her quirk is 'Acids' which means she probably uses long-range attacks," Satoshi suggested, "maybe try using fire attacks, they can melt through the poison and land a hit."
The two continued sparring until it was almost time to return to the field.
"You nervous about this?" Serena asked Satoshi as they walked down the hallway.
"Just a bit," Satoshi replied, "we've been watching the Sports Festivals for years now. Many of the current heroes have stood in the positions we now stand in. I'm nervous, no doubt about it, but I'm also ready to win it all. I have a declaration to fulfill after all."
"Slow down over there, hottie!" Serena challenged as she jumped onto his back, "I'm taking the win."
"Well, I'll see you in the finals of the bracket then." Satoshi smiled as they shared a quick kiss.
(5 minutes later, in the main stadium)
"Audience members! The event you were all waiting for! The 1 on 1 elimination event," Present Mic announced, "we have 16 participants and we are ready to start the tournament."
The crowd cheered as they were excited and pumped to see more action unfold in front of their eyes.
In the corridor leading up to the stadium, Izuku was stationed as he was prepared to be called out.
"Hey, sorry I'm late," a voice, as well as rushed footsteps, caught his attention as Izuku turned around to see All Might, "how are you feeling?"
"Nervous, but I've trained for this, and although I have a limit in place for my abilities, this is the best chance for me to show the world who I am," Izuku responded.
"One more thing, Young Midoriya," All Might said as he turned into his muscular form, "when you are worried, scared, or in a pinch, that's when you need to smile the most, so deal with this match by smiling. It doesn't matter if the smile is fake, just be proud of who you are and stand tall."
Izuku gave him a determined look and balled his hands into a fist, as the sound of the audience caught his attention.
"Remember, I have high hopes for you, and so do all of your friends!" All Might encouraged Izuku.
"Alright! Let's get ready to invite the contestants of the first matchup!" Present Mic announced, "He survived the chaotic and gruesome 'Battle Royal' and won the competitive yet unpredictable 'Obstacle Race', from the Hero Course, it's Izuku Midoriya! VERSUS! Even though he hasn't done anything flashy, he still qualified for the last round all the same! cheer him on loudly as we welcome, from the General Studies Course, it's Hitoshi Shinso!"
Izuku and Hitoshi both entered the stadium as the crowd cheered and applauded eagerly for both of them as everyone hoped for a good battle.
It's finally begun. Satoshi thought as he cheered for his friend in the stands
"The rules for the 1 on 1 battle are very clear!" Present Mic continued, "the match is over or when a student is immobilized or out of bounds. You can also win if you force a student to say, 'I give up', causing them to forfeit the match! Once again, Recovery Girl and the medical team are on standby, so don't be shy to throw out some big moves. As long as it's not life-threatening, then you can unleash whatever hell you want to!"
"If things get out of hand, I will put a stop to it to ensure the safety of everyone here," Pro Hero, and U.A. staff member Cementoss stated as he created a seat out of cement on the referee stage
"Hmph, "I give up!" huh? Guess that's too bad for your friend with the weird-looking tail," Hitoshi Shinso said, trying to irritate Izuku, "I took this spot straight from him."
"READY!" Present Mic hollered as the noise from the audience, reached an all-time high, signaling the start of the last round, "GO!"
Alright, this seems like a great place to end the chapter!
As per usual, changes, changes, changes. I didn't want to copy everything that the anime did in terms of the Sports Festival, so I changed the format; I was also not confident in writing the Calvary Battle as too much is happening and it can be hard to keep a track of in writing*. You can also tell in the Battle Royal that they a short because I didn't go through every single detailed encounter to its full potential.
*You can decide which one of those is the real cause of the change XD :P
The first two rounds of the Sports Festival have concluded, with the top 16 students decided. Hitoshi Shinso will go head to head against Izuku Midoriya in the first round, like in the anime. And the rest will follow.
For now, that is all! Hope you all enjoy the story!
Chapter 7: U.A. Sports Festival Final Event. The battle begins!
To be continued…
