Two weeks into the semester and still Adaline hadn't really made friends in her House. They were friendly, but they were also wary of such a dark past as hers. But that was something she was used to. Regulus was the closest thing to a friend that Adaline ever had.
So they met often in the corridors and after class. He was also the only one willing to pair with her for assignments. She had started calling him Reg, and he seemed to be alright with it even if he hadn't given her a nickname yet.
Walking to the Library she was surprised to be pulled into an abandoned classroom suddenly by the boy who looked so much like Reg. Looking up at him she realized he was almost a foot taller than her and swallowed, "What is it?"
"What are you playing at?" he demanded.
She was confused, "Excuse me?"
Glaring down at her, "Don't play dumb! What does Fenrier Greyback want with my brother?" He all but hissed.
Looking into his face she realized the brother was Reg, "My friendship with Reg has nothing at all to do with my Uncle." She studied him, "But you should wonder how I could be blind enough not to see that your friend Lupin is a werewolf." He stepped back, "A fact that I have not shared with my Uncle, or Reg, not with anyone." Looking him in the eye, "So as a member of the house of Black you should wonder if I like you are an exception to the rule rather than a sneaky counterpart."
With that she left him dumbfounded. Hurrying to the Library she met Reg at the prearranged table and he stood up when he saw her, "Are you alright?"
She smiled at him, "It seems your brother is far more protective of you than you thought." Covering his hand where he placed it on her arm when the joke didn't work, "I'm fine." Nodding to the pile of parchment, "Let's get this assignment done." He let go of her arm and they sat down to start.
