Satine was crying. Obi-Wan didn't know what to do when it first happened. She was always so strong. But now she was crying.

"Satine…" Obi-Wan said, reaching out for her. He pulled her into a hug. Normally he wouldn't, but the alcohol said he should. She was upset and he should try and make her feel better even if Jedi couldn't have attachments.

Not only did he hug her, but he ran his hands through her beautiful blond hair. She rested her head against his chest. He liked it way more than he should have.

"I'm… I'm failing my people, Ben." Ben… Satine was the only one who called him that, and he liked it. It sounded right. Not that he ever had told her that. "I'm failing everyone."

"You're not," Obi-Wan said, his words slurring. She shouldn't even think that. She was so amazing and great and wonderful. Yes, before Satine Obi-Wan found other women attractive, but Satine… it was different with her. He was attracted to her, more than the others, but it was deeper than that.

And he knew the Jedi Council wouldn't approve.

Obi-Wan thought about talking to Master Qui-Gon about it, but he always stopped himself. But maybe if he came back soon he would… The alcohol said he should.

"I am!" Satine said, gripping his robes. "I'm even failing my own sister."

"But you—"

"She… She's either in hiding now too or she's with my mom and in even more danger. What if someone hurts her because of me? She's my baby sister. I don't want her to get hurt." Satine cried even harder after that.

"We…" Obi-Wan didn't even know what to say. He needed to make her feel better. She was so sad right now.

"I wanted things to be better, Ben. I wanted to make things better, but what if I only make them worse?"

Obi-Wan kept his hands on her shoulder, but pulled away. "You're not making things worse, Satine," he said. His words didn't sound normal. "You're gonna make Mandalore really really good. You're…" Why were words not come? Wait… That was bad grammar. Even though it was just in his head, the bad grammar normally would have annoyed him. He corrected it. Why did the words not come? "Mandalore is lucky to have you as their leader."

"I… I don't know if that's true," Satine muttered. She pulled away from Obi-Wan and looked at her drink.

"It is," Obi-Wan said. "You're… special."

She gave him a look and he wondered if he had said something he wasn't supposed to.

"I thought you didn't like me," Satine said.

"What?" Obi-Wan asked. He took another drink of his. They were running out of alcohol.

"We argue," Satine said. "And so…"

"I like that you're so opinionated." And he did. Satine was so smart. He liked how she would tell him what she thought, even when they disagreed and they did disagree a lot. She was… special and Mandalore and all the people who got to be around her were lucky.

Obi-Wan was lucky.

"So… we're friends?" Satine asked.

"Friends." But Obi-Wan liked her more than that. He shouldn't. Attachments were forbidden. He had always been good. Always by the book, but then he had met Satine and things got confusing.

Satine sighed and looked down.

"We're friends," Obi-Wan said.

"I just… My sister… She's so little."

Her love for her sister was sweet. It made Obi-Wan like Satine even more. She was so caring and compassionate.

Obi-Wan wondered if he had any siblings out there. He had been so young when he had to leave them. Normally, he didn't even think about his family all that much.

"She's lucky to have you," Obi-Wan said.

"No, I'm lucky to have her," Satine said. She sighed and finished her drink.

"Do you think we should stop drinking?" Obi-Wan asked. He reached out and touched Satine's hand. It was so soft.

"I don't want to," Satine said. "I… Do you want to, Obi-Wan?" He wished that she would have called him Ben sort of, but didn't say anything. She would shift between calling him the two names.

He shook his head. He didn't want to either. He wanted to keep drinking and he wanted to turn this night around for Satine. It was the least that he could do for someone as sweet as she was.

Besides, Obi-Wan would make sure the two of them didn't drink too much. Everything would be fine.

At least that was what he told himself.

Qui-Gon didn't think he would be gone long, but when he got held up in town, he wasn't worried. Both Obi-Wan and Satine were responsible. Sometimes it seemed the Jedi Council trusted Obi-Wan more than Qui-Gon, even if they had asked Qui-Gon to join about not too long ago. Some of them probably were relieved when he had declined their offer.

As for Satine, even though she, like Obi-Wan, was a teenager too, she was also wise beyond her years like he was. She was the Duchess of Mandalore. One of the youngest they had. Even though she had a lot on her plate and had already graduated early, she would still study and try to better herself. She also would write letters for her sister and mother, even though she couldn't deliver them. She probably planned to give them to them when she returned home. Satine was a sweet girl.

And Qui-Gon could tell his padawan had a crush on her and that she fancied him too. But he doubted either of them would do anything. Qui-Gon thought it might be good if the two spent some time together. Obviously Qui-Gon knew the Jedi Council wouldn't approve, but teenagers deserved to have fun, and Satine had been devastated the last week.

Qui-Gon could only hope that they would be able to cheer each other up.

And surely nothing bad would happen. Qui-Gon trusted his padawan to be responsible and Satine as well. The worst that would happen probably would be the two would drink a little bit. Maybe they would kiss. If the two managed to cheer each other up for one day, Qui-Gon would be happy.

But he wouldn't be surprised also if Satine had locked herself back in her room when he returned and Obi-Wan would just be sitting in the living area quietly, looking toward Satine's room obviously worried about her, but not sure what he should do.

However, what he didn't expect when he returned to the ship was complete quiet. Usually he could hear Obi-Wan and sometimes even Satine, but now nothing. Some of the lights were off too.

And the living area was a mess. He didn't know how it was even possible, but for some reason there were empty glasses everywhere as well as just random things that normally would have been either in Satine or Obi-Wan's rooms. There was water on the floor in front of the table.

Nothing had felt off with the Force and Obi-Wan was skilled and talented. Nothing would have happened. He would have protected Satine and she wasn't helpless either despite that she was a pacifist.

No… They hadn't been taken. Something else had happened.

And then he saw it. More alcohol than he had given the two of them. Somehow, they had more. Satine must have had it. He hadn't thought she would and even if she did, he didn't think that she would bring it out and then the two would drink all of it.

That was way too much alcohol. Way too much.

And his padawan didn't even drink. He never even showed any interest in alcohol. Sometimes he had even given Qui-Gon looks when he had drank and yet there was no way that Satine had drank all of this or even most of it on her own. She would have died. No, Obi-Wan obviously had too.

Even between the two of them this was a lot.

Qui-Gon sighed and shook his head.

And that was when he saw a note on the table. At least it looked like a note. It was wet and smelled like alcohol.

Qui-Gon sighed and shook his head and did his best to shake the note dry. The ink was fading from it and the handwriting was messy, but it looked like Obi-Wan's. Well, if Obi-Wan had broken his arms. Qui-Gon squinted trying to make out his writing.

"Qui! Satine and I gone! Heading too town an aventure. Be back." It didn't have any dates or times but it did have a sketch of an owl below it, which was darker as if someone had been pressing harder so Satine had probably drawn that. Obi-Wan didn't have any artistic talent.

Then again this horrible spelling and grammar wasn't like his padawan. But it was his handwriting. Sort of…

Qui-Gon turned over the paper and saw more writing, but he couldn't read it because of how messy it was and because there was another owl like thing over it. This owl was a lot sloppier than the other one, but he could tell that Obi-Wan hadn't drawn it because it was beyond his talents even this way.

"Ran ow of allchoool. By." This if possible was even worse than the note before, but it was Obi-Wan's.

"What the…" Qui-Gon didn't even finish. How drunk was his padawan? Obi-Wan always had perfect grammar and penmanship and wouldn't have allowed even something like this to have a spelling mistake. It just wasn't how Obi-Wan was. He was very by the book, even when it came to things like this at times. This… Normally writing something like this would have killed Obi-Wan.

And yet Qui-Gon didn't think anything bad had happened and they had been forced to leave. No, no, Qui-Gon had trusted the two teenagers to just have a couple drinks and talk and apparently that had been a mistake.

Even now it was hard to believe that Obi-Wan would do this.

But the note was here.

Qui-Gon sighed and ran a hand through his hair. If the two had been here being… very drunk… it would have been fine. Qui-Gon could have made sure that they didn't get into any trouble or do something they would regret later.

But they had left.

And that…

Even if Obi-Wan was…wasted… he knew his padawan wouldn't do anything too bad, but they had gone to town. Satine wasn't supposed to go to town too often. People could recognize her. There were bounty hunters out there who wanted to murder her.

Qui-Gon wouldn't let that happen. Not just because of the mission or because Satine Kryze would be good for Mandalore. Great for them even. No, he wouldn't let it happen because she was innocent and a sweet girl. She deserved to have a long and full life and to even make silly mistakes like leaving a ship with a boy she fancied when she was drunk.

Normally Obi-Wan would be a good boy to leave with since he was a good person but now…

Qui-Gon would not let anything happen to his padawan or Satine Kryze. He would find them and he would make sure that they were safe. And he would also make sure that the Jedi Council didn't find out about this. Obi-Wan had made a mistake, but he shouldn't be punished by them. And he would make sure that he found them before either of them could get hurt. Satine didn't deserve anything bad to come of them either.
