When the guys came home from shopping with their girlfriends, they popped their heads in to checked in on her.
"How is she," Riven asked.
"Her fever went down, so she should be fine with plenty of rest. We have to make sure she doesn't try to use her powers right now, though. That's what got her in this position in the first place," Timmy explained.
"I can't believe none of us noticed she was sick," Brandon said, feeling disappointed in himself.
"To be fair, Stella can be a handful to keep track of," Sky poked fun at his best friend.
"Not going to argue that one," Riven agreed, "By the way, how does Tecna know my girlfriend?"
Helia shrugged, "She probably knew her from going to Alfea."
To their surprise, Tecna groaned and said, "Would you guys shut it? Seriously, unless you have algorithm soup, get out."
All five boys started laughing before exiting the room. Timmy was the last to leave, but before he did, he said, "I will go get you some of that soup."
"Thank you," Tecna mumbled before going back to sleep.
…
When Tecna woke up, she was freezing. She wrapped the blanket around herself and walked out the door to find the guys lounging around in tank tops and shorts. She didn't think anything of it and went to turn on the heat.
Riven saw what she was doing and said, "Woah, it's not cold. It's 90 degrees out there right now, and we just came back from the gym."
At that moment, the smell of body odor hit her nose, and she asked, "Then why are you all out here instead of showering?"
"You're sick. Timmy didn't want to wake you, so we were all waiting to use the shower in the other room. Brandon's in there right now," Helia explained.
"You didn't have to do that. Go shower," Tecna said, walking back to the room.
Helia was the first to go to the room. He noticed Tecna was shivering in her bed.
"Timmy went with Codatorta to the store. They should be back any minute. I am sure he wouldn't mind if you borrowed his blanket. It's not like what you have is contagious."
She felt weird borrowing it without asking his permission, but she was too desperate to care. She pulled his blanket off the bed and pulled it on top of her.
…
When Timmy returned, he saw that everyone had showered and went to his dorm to do the same. He was surprised to see Helia sitting on his bed with a finger over his mouth. He looked over to Tecna and saw she was snuggled deeply under a pile of blankets.
Timmy put down the soup and medicine he bought and walked over to her. He placed his hand to her forehead and said, "Helia, go get as much ice as you can and bring it to the bathroom. I'm going grab the thermometer."
When he returned with the thermometer, he gently shook her awake and said, "Tecna, I need your temperature. Open your mouth."
Groggily she did as he asked, and the thermometer read 103.4. Too close to 104 for his comfort. He walked into the bathroom and started to fill the tub with cold water. Helia returned with a bucket full of ice and, Timmy instructed, "Pour the ice in the bathwater and ask Codatorta to get a fairy doctor."
Timmy removed all the blankets and picked Tecna up, carrying her to the ice bath. He sat on the edge of the tub and started to search for more information on the fairy flu on his palmtop. He was surprised when he felt Tecna rest her head on him. She was such a guarded individual, and it seemed out of character. He placed his hand on her forehead and noticed her fever had already started to come down.
Codatorta ran into the bathroom and was relieved to see she was being watched over by Timmy. "The fairy doctor is on her way."
When her temperature came down, Timmy pulled her out of the ice bath. He held her over the tub for a minute for the water to drain off. Codatorta then wrapped her in a blanket he found lying on the floor and carried her to the nearest bed. She instantly snuggled into the pillow and mumbled, "Timmy."
"What did she say," Timmy asked from the bathroom as he dried his clothes.
Codatorta raised his eyebrow but responded with another question, "Whose bed is this?"
"Mine," Timmy answered, "But she can sleep there. I will just crash on the couch."
"That's ridiculous. Why don't you just use her bed," Helia asked.
"Simple, I am sure the nurse is going to put her in dry clothes when she gets here. She's going to need a dry bed to sleep in," Timmy answered.
Sky then walked into the room and said, "You've been the one watching over her. Why don't you sleep in Helia's bed, and he sleeps on the couch?"
"I don't mind," Helia agreed.
Timmy nodded and replied, "That will work, I suppose. I just don't want to put anyone out."
The fairy doctor walked in the room and greeted, "Hello, my name is Doctor Natalie. I will be evaluating Ms. Tecna today."
…
The group stood outside the room, waiting to hear what the doctor had to say about Tecna's health. Codatorta looked over at Timmy, who was staring out the window nervously. He couldn't help but wonder if Timmy had a thing for Tecna. He suspected he did, but Timmy was always the most caring member of Sky's group, so he couldn't be sure.
The nurse came out with a smile and said, "The fever broke. With some food and rest, she should be fine. I would like to change her into some dry nightclothes, but I can't seem to find clean pajamas in her dresser. Would one of you guys mind if I borrowed something for her?"
"My dresser is right next to hers," Timmy replied.
When the nurse had returned to her room, Codatorta asked, "I thought I told you guys to make sure she has a proper wardrobe."
"She got sick during the shopping trip," Riven said irritably, "It put my girlfriend in one of her crappy ass moods."
"Like your Mr. Congeniality," Brandon joked.
"You've been hanging out with Stella too much," Riven countered.
Codatorta looked over to Timmy and said, "Thank you for taking care of her," before standing up and leaving the room.
…
The following day, Tecna was much better. She gazed out the window to see the boys training in the field. As she was walking closer, her leg hit the nightstand, catching her attention. She looked down and noticed a bag with soup and medicine on it. There was a sticky note on it that read, 'feel better.'
Tecna gave a rare smile and grabbed one of the cans of soup. Then, she walked over to the shared area of the dormitory and pulled a bowl out of the cabinet.
While the soup was heating, Tecna realized that she wasn't in the clothes she was wearing when she fell asleep. 'Who changed my clothes?' she wondered silently.
At first, she thought Timmy, since he seemed to be the one who looked after her the most, but shot down that idea, mumbling, "It couldn't be him… he would most likely faint at the sight of a boob… Then who?"
"Who what?" Saladin asked as he walked into the room.
"Oh, Headmaster Saladin, I didn't expect to see you this morning," she said, slightly embarrassed.
The old man smiled, "I had to check on my only granddaughter. How are you feeling?"
"Much better," she replied as the microwave went off. "Do you know who changed my nightclothes?" she asked.
"Oh, we had the fairy doctor do that… Natalie, I think she said her name was," Saladin answered.
Tecna let out a breath of relief. She didn't want any of her roommates to have seen her scars. Saladin noticed Tecna seemed tense and asked, "What's the matter, dear? Do you not like your roommates?"
Tecna shook her head and replied, "No, it's not that… Riven's kind of a pain in the ass, but overall, they seem like decent human beings. I just don't know what to do now that my wings are gone. I know my powers are still here. I can feel them, but I can't seem to access them. When I try to use them, I get sick."
Saladin gave her a weak smile and said, "You will be able to use your powers when you need to. But, for now, try to learn how to live without them. It might even strengthen you in the long run."
Saladin then stood up and said, "I have a meeting with Headmistress Faragonda, so I will let you get back to your lunch. Eat up. Codatorta wants to test your fighting skills this afternoon."
…
As promised, Codatorta came up after practice with the guys and said," Change into your workout clothes and meet me in the field."
Tecna stood up and walked over to her dresser, pulling out the black shorts, shirt, and sports bra she bought yesterday. She quickly changed before walking out to the area the guys were practicing earlier.
She noticed they were nowhere to be found and asked, "Private practice?"
Codatorta nodded and replied, "I need to test your skills before I can figure out where to place you. Now attack me."
To his surprise, Tecna didn't hesitate to attack him like many of his students. She charged at him, throwing a punch at him. He quickly caught her fist and said, "No hesitation, that's very good! So many of my students hesitate not wanting to attack when it is unwarranted."
"I'm 5'4 and 105 lbs, as if I have any chance of dealing any real damage," Tecna replied.
"Oh, you definitely have the potential to do damage. Now straighten your wrist when you punch. Otherwise, you might sprain it. Now, try again," Codatorta encouraged.
Once again, she surprised him. Instead of backing up to attack, she tried to throw a kick at his head. He still had her fist in his hand and used it to block the attack. Unfortunately, the block caused her to lose her balance.
…
Meanwhile, the two had an audience of six watching the private lesson.
"She's almost as bad a fighter as you, Timmy," Riven said with a laugh.
Timmy frowned, he knew he wasn't great with combat, but he excelled in other subjects like strategy and engineering.
"You're one to talk when you get your ass handed to you by a fairy with pigtails regularly," Brandon retorted.
Saladin snickered and said, "Ah, first love, so unpredictable. I remember when Eldora and I had our first argument. She was an air fairy, and I somehow found myself hanging upside down from a tree three miles away. I don't know whether it was when I hit my head on the tree or when I first saw her later that day at the winter formal dressed to the nines, but I fell hard."
"Ooh, she managed to land a punch," Sky said excitedly.
Timmy smiled and commented, "Codatorta looks proud."
"Sky, my love, I'm here," a beautiful blonde said as she walked into the room.
Sky scratched the back of his head and replied, "Oh, Diaspro…It's great to see you."
"I was just in the neighborhood and decided to drop in to see my honeybun." Diaspro then noticed all the guys were looking out the window and asked, "Who's she?"
"That's Tecna. She's a new student here," Sky answered.
Diaspro raised an eyebrow and said, "I've never seen a girl attend Red Fountain."
"She's Codatorta's daughter," Brandon explained.
"Oh, well, that explains it… Although, she's kind of wimpy looking for being related to Codatorta," she commented.
"That's my granddaughter you're talking about," Saladin added, looking peeved.
"Oooh, that looks like it hurt," All seven said in unison as Codatorta flipped her on her back.
"Shit, she's crying," Riven said.
…
Tecna charged at him again and was surprised when he managed to flip her over him. When she landed on her back, she felt the area where her wings had been torn off rip back open. The pain was unbearable, and she struggled to catch her breath. Tears filled her eyes, and Codatorta rushed to her looking concerned, "What's wrong?"
She tried to speak but couldn't catch her breath. Codatorta flipped her over and saw the back of her shirt was covered in blood. "Damn, Saladin was right. It was too soon to start this. Come on, I will call the fairy doctor to patch you back up," He said regretfully.
He then noticed 6 people running towards them with Saladin waddling behind. "Is she okay?" Timmy asked, reaching her first.
"Her wounds on her back reopened," he said simply, ready to walk past them.
"Diaspro, don't you have healing powers?" Brandon asked, knowing that she wouldn't offer unless it was to impress Sky.
"Sure, I can heal her," she said, mildly irritated that she would have to touch some peasant. "Lay on your stomach," Diaspro told her.
Diaspro helped her to the ground and lifted the back of Tecna's shirt. She gasped in horror at what she saw, "What the hell happened to her?" she asked.
Timmy saw Tecna close her eyes, trying to control her emotions. She didn't want anyone to see her scars, and now her entire group was looking at them. Timmy frowned, noticing her discomfort, and asked, "Can you please just heal her?"
"Oh right," Diaspro said as she put her hands on a clean part of her back. Tecna felt the fairy's energy warm-up and slowly close the wound. "It's done," Diaspro concluded.
Tecna pushed herself off the ground and said, "Thank you, Miss…"
"It's Princess Diaspro, and no problem, I would do anything to help a friend of my sweetheart," she said as she planted a kiss on Sky's cheek.
Tecna bit her lip, knowing that Sky had called Bloom his girlfriend just the other day. She could see that Sky was sweating bullets as Diaspro added, "Sky is my fiancé."
"That's nice. If you guys will excuse me, I would like to get out of these bloody clothes. Thanks again, Princess Diaspro," Tecna said as she walked back to the room.
When she left, Diaspro commented, "Weird girl." Codatorta shot her a glare, and she continued, "Well sweetie, I have to get going back to Eraklyon. I will see you later."
Sky waved, "Okay, bye."
…
When Tecna came out of the shower, she looked at her back in the mirror. There was still some visible scarring, but at least she wouldn't have to worry about it opening back up again. She grabbed her dirty clothes and walked out to see all the guys hanging out in the dormitory staring at her, except for Timmy. He was busy doing some work on his laptop.
She looked down at herself to see if there was toilet paper on her foot or something, but she saw nothing. "What?" she asked.
"I was just curious, why didn't you bust me when you found out Diaspro is my fiancé?" Sky asked.
Tecna raised an eyebrow and asked, "Did you want me to?" He quickly shook his head, so she continued, "One, it's none of my business, and two, I really don't care what you guys do with your personal life. It's not like I'm close to any of your girlfriends anyway."
She paused for a moment and said, "Except for you, Riven. If I find out you cheated on Musa, I will bust your ass so fast you will get whiplash. Now, if you will excuse me, I have my own 'dirty laundry' to tend with."
Timmy started chuckling as she walked out the door with her laundry basket.
"Ugh, nerd humor," Riven said, looking like he had just been smacked across the face.
