When Timmy fell, Tecna's felt as though her heart stopped. She pushed Tritannus out of the way and ran to Timmy, pulling him into her arms. "What did you do to him?" Tecna yelled to Icy with tears in her eyes.
"You'll find out soon enough, just know that we'll be back," Icy said before she vanished in a cloud of smoke. Tecna looked over to Tritannus and said, "Please help me get him to the hotel."
Tritannus nodded and said, "Fine, go get your friends." He picked Timmy up carried him back to the hotel while Tecna ran out the door. Personally, he wanted nothing more than to drop the boy in the sand and forget about him. But, if Tritannus was going to catch Tecna's attention, he had to play nice.
The group were there within three minutes and opened the door for Tritannus. Tecna was on the phone with her father telling him about the incident. Suddenly, she heard Timmy groan and rushed over to his side, "Timmy are you alright?"
He looked around with confusion and replied, "Yeah, of course I'm alright. Why wouldn't I be."
She threw her arms around his shoulders and whispered, "Thank god, I was so scared."
Unexpectedly Timmy's eyes started to darken, "Why are you hanging all over me like this?" he asked.
"Timmy, what's gotten into you? That was rude." Musa scolded him. She knew that this was out of character for the loving boy.
Timmy's nostrils flared, "I met her just a few months ago, I have a right to my personal space," He argued.
Sky stared at Timmy for a moment before commenting, "Hey buddy, I think you might be coming down with a fever or something. You need to calm down."
Timmy threw his legs over the bed and replied, "I'm fine. I'm going to the arcade. See you later."
Tecna bit her lip, she had never seen Timmy like this. Maybe he was sick of having to play hero. Tecna was the next to stand up, she placed her phone down entirely forgetting that Codatorta was on the line, and said, "I'm going to the hotel gym to blow off some steam. I'll see you all later."
When she left, Brandon picked up Tecna's discarded phone and asked, "Are you still there Codatorta?"
"Yes, what's wrong with Timmy?" Codatorta asked.
"We're not sure," Flora answered, "But, Tecna found a mood chip on Bloom earlier. Do you think it could be something similar?"
"Possibly," Codatorta admitted, "But I know this is not normal behavior for Timmy."
"We're all supposed to meet up at a restaurant later to celebrate his birthday. We'll call you with more information when we have it," Helia added before hanging up the phone.
…
While Tecna ran on the treadmill, she couldn't get over how Timmy treated her. It was as if she were a stranger. She didn't want to be upset with him, figuring he was just in a bad mood and would apologize later. But something about the way he looked was nagging at her. She had never seen his eyes so filled with anger and hatred. She let out a sigh and mumbled, "I guess only time will tell."
Riven walked in at that moment and got on the treadmill next to her. He could tell that she was upset, and said, "Look, Timmy probably just got scared you were going to get hurt and is trying to distance himself from you."
Tecna looked at him curiously, "Why would he do that? Is he afraid he's going to get hurt?"
"Yes, but not physically. But it wouldn't surprise me if he were scared to lose someone he has grown to care about. Give him time, Mainframe will come around," Riven replied.
Tecna smiled and said, "Now I am starting to see why Musa is interested in you. Thanks, Riven." She then turned off the machine and went upstairs to prepare for her dinner date.
…
Since this was Tecna's first official group date with Timmy, she wanted to make sure she looked nice. She pulled out a little sundress that Stella had picked out for her while she was shopping. It was a light green lace midi dress that accentuated her curves. There was a jeweled belt that cinched her waist nicely while dressing up the lace further. She borrowed makeup from Stella, while the blonde worked on her hair.
"You are going to have Timmy falling out of his chair when I'm done with you," Stella said excitedly.
"Considering how clumsy he is, he might do that anyway," Musa joked.
All the girls chuckled, and Bloom asked, "So, how's that shirt you were fixing for him coming?"
"It's done," Tecna replied, "I would show it to you, but I already wrapped it."
The girls met the guys outside by the ship. Tritannus and Layla were waiting outside as well, since it was technically a group activity. Brandon flew the ship to a Lynphean Restaurant in the heart of the city. It was a buffet style, so Tecna was excited to try so many different types of food.
As they sat at the table, Tecna noticed Timmy still seemed to be acting a bit off. Hesitantly she tried to start conversation with him, placing her hand on his to catch his attention, "So Timmy, Helia told me that you sacrificed something special to you to help me the other night."
He looked at her petulantly, and she continued, "I…I know I can't restore it completely, but I hope that you will like it. Happy Birthday Timmy."
She hesitantly handed him the wrapped gift and he opened it to find his mother's sweater. It was not perfect, but it was no longer in shambles. A frozen breath escaped Timmy's lips and he grabbed his chest.
Tecna saw his reaction and panicked, "Timmy what's wrong?" she asked.
Timmy shook his head several time before throwing the sweater on the floor, "You honestly thought a tattered sweater would be a good gift. It's like you don't know me at all."
Tecna's heart dropped, she nodded and excused herself from the table going to the bathroom. Once she knew she was alone started to cry in one of the stalls when she heard Musa come in, "Tecna." When she didn't answer, Musa sighed and added, "Tecna, I know you're in here. Supersonic hearing, remember."
Tecna opened the door and wiped away her tears. "I thought he would like it, I really did," she sobbed into her shoulder.
Musa paused before saying, "Tecna, I've known Timmy for a long time. That's not Timmy. I don't know what's going on with him, but I know for certain somethings up."
She then added, "Riven and Sky were talking earlier, and after we eat we are going to head back to the hotel. Codatorta is on his way with a doctor, to try to figure out what's going on. Just hang in there okay. I promise we'll get Timmy back to his usual self."
Tecna nodded and fixed her makeup before she returned to the table. Timmy was still acting cold, but Tecna noticed that the shirt was no longer on the floor and folded neatly on the table.
After everyone ate, the guys stood up to pay for the meal. When Timmy stood up though, his legs gave out and his head hit the ground. "Timmy," Tecna screamed in a panic.
Sky threw a wad of cash on the table to cover the whole group's meal and said, "Come on, let's get him to the hotel."
…
Back at the hotel…
While Tecna was pacing in the girls dorm, waiting for the doctor to finish, she noticed a note on the desk. She walked over curiously and read, 'meet us at the bar before midnight or the spell will be permanent. Come alone. Icy.' She shoved the note in her sweater's pocket knowing the Specialists wouldn't allow her to go if they knew.
"Tecna are you there?" she heard Codatorta call out from the other room.
"Oh yes sir, I'm sorry," she replied nervously walking up to the boys' dorm, with the rest of the girls.
The doctor was standing outside the door when Tecna asked, "What's wrong with him?"
"The Trix shot him with black magic. His heart is slowly freezing. Eventually it will freeze solid… there are very few who survive this, I'm afraid," the doctor explained somberly, "You need to find a way to warm his heart to break the spell. Though strangely enough, there does appear to be a small crack in the ice."
"Will my dragon fire work?" Bloom asked.
The doctor shook his head and replied, "No, only love can cure this kind of magic. And since he was trying to protect you Tecna, I would say that you would have to be the one to warm his heart."
"But, I can't control my magic," Tecna responded, "How am I going to warm his heart without hurting him."
Codatorta put his hand on her shoulder and said, "I know you can do this. Do you want us to give you some time alone?"
Tecna nodded and the group went downstairs to give her privacy.
Tecna thought for a moment before grabbing the shirt she had finished for Timmy. She folded it neatly and sat it on his chest with a note that read, "I'm sorry."
She then sat next to him and held his hand; it was ice cold. Finally, being alone with him gave her the courage to open the floodgates and release her pent-up emotions. "Oh Timmy, I am so sorry. You never should have risked your life for me. Trust me, I'm not worth it… But since you did, I want you to know that I will forever be in your debt."
She took a deep breath before continuing, "Tonight, I am going to the bar to meet the Trix. They did this to you, and they have a cure. If I don't make it back, I want you to know that I'm sorry." She kissed his hand and placed it on his chest before saying, "Please don't die on me Timmy, I couldn't bear to lose anyone else I love."
Tecna stood up and walked to the door. Before pulling the door shut, she finally admitted something to herself, and out loud, "I love you, Timmy. Goodbye."
Tecna was completely unaware that despite being in a comatose like state, he heard every word, and suddenly the ice cracked.
…
When the group returned the room, the doctor noticed the color was coming back into Timmy's face. He pulled out a scanning device and pointed it towards Timmy's chest. It gave him a crystal-clear photograph of Timmy's heart. "I don't believe this, the ice is cracked and melting rapidly. He should be awake within the hour," he explained, bewildered by this sudden turn of events.
"She did it," Brandon said excitedly, running to the room next door banging on it, "Tecna, you did it. He's going to be alright!" When she didn't answer, he said, "Tecna?" a little louder. He then turned to Stella and said, "Give me your room key."
"What, why?" she asked curiously.
"Tecna's not answering," he replied simply, sensing something was wrong. When Stella handed Brandon the key, he slid it into the door only to find the room empty. He then returned to ask, "Did Tecna tell you she was going anywhere?"
Everyone in the room shook their heads. Where would she have gone while Timmy was unconscious. "Do you think she went out to get a snack?" Flora asked.
Helia shook his head, "I doubt she would leave Timmy alone like this unless it was urgent. Besides, that girl hardly ever eats."
Suddenly Timmy's eyes shot open and he fought to get out of bed.
"Woah there, Timmy. Where do you think you're going?" Brandon asked.
Timmy fought against him frantically mumbling, "Tec...bar… the Trix."
"I think he knows where she went. Why don't we start there?" Aisha suggested.
Sky nodded and said, "Fine but I don't want to leave Timmy alone in this state. Helia, could you help him to the ship while we grab the weapons."
They all agreed and split into groups. Codatorta was the first on the ship. The students on board were gripping their seats as Codatorta steered his ship like a bat out of hell.
As they approached the bar, they were surprised to see a huge electrical explosion that shook the ship like a flag waving in a hurricane. It ultimately caused the ship to go down.
"Prepare for emergency landing," Codatorta yelled as he worked to regain control of the ship.
…
Tecna saw the Trix waiting for her as she approached the bar
"Where's the antidote?" Tecna screamed not wasting any time.
"It's right here," Icy said holding up a potion vial, "Now if you want to cure your friend, you are going to have to come back with us to Zenith."
Tecna suddenly felt electricity building up in her bones and said, "I have a better idea. Give me the vial or I will fry you like the chickens you are."
"I want to see you try," Stormy taunted her with laughter, "How about it sisters, are you up for a fight?"
"Always," Darcy said dangerously.
The three Trix flew up in the air and started throwing attacks at Tecna ruthlessly. However, Tecna could feel the power growing within her. She knew that if she kept letting it build it wasn't going to end well, for who she wasn't quite sure. Suddenly the power started to take over and electricity surrounded her. She closed her eyes as she tried to gain its control.
When she opened her eyes, they glowed electric green. She saw her friends coming towards their position from a distance and knew she had to end this quick. Electric wings sprouted and stretched out far and wide wrapping her like a cocoon and lifting her off the ground. The electricity started to morph before the eyes of the witches.
The Specialists were running as fast as they could with the fairies flying overhead, "What's happening?" Sky asked Bloom. She didn't know so she just shrugged.
Timmy was stumbling towards the group painfully with the help of Helia. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and aimed it at the electronic phenomenon. The cocoon opened and revealed Tecna riding on top of a gigantic electric bird.
The bird let out a powerful screech that could be heard for miles.
"What is that?" Bloom asked looking terrified.
"Tecna," Timmy answered.
The bird's cry blew the Trix back several yards. A ball of electricity flew out of the bird's beak towards Icy. She dodged it at the last second only to see a crater left on the ground where it struck.
Darcy and Stormy saw this new power and quickly vanished in a puff of smoke. They knew they were going to be crushed if they stayed any longer.
Codatorta had a look of pride in his eyes as Aisha said, "Now that my friends is how a fairy becomes a legend."
Icy was about to disappear when she felt an electric rope wrap around her, "Not until you give me the vial," Tecna said as her bird flew overhead, waiting for a command.
Icy smirked and said, "No problem, it was a trick anyway. I hope your boytoy likes lemonade," she tossed the vial to her and disappeared with a laugh.
With the witches gone, Tecna fell to the ground both from exhaustion and disappointment. "No, he can't die," Tecna said with tears falling from her eyes. The electricity that formed into the bird, quickly formed into a ball before returning to her soul. Two new wings formed where her former wings were torn. Her eyes glowed a ghostly color, before returning back to normal. As Bloom reached her, she heard Tecna whisper the word, "Electrix," before collapsing.
"What's wrong with her?" Tecna heard a familiar voice call out.
Tecna looked back and saw Timmy struggling to get to her. "She's fine," Bloom called back, "She just used up too much magic. Sky, help me carry her back to the hotel."
Sky carried Tecna over to Timmy, but she struggled out of Sky's arms and forcing her legs to hold herself up long enough to stumble over to Timmy. Her legs gave out as soon as she reached him, causing both to fall. "You idiot, why would you purposely put yourself in danger," she screamed crying on top of him.
Timmy looked at her completely surprised, "Tecna, you're crying."
"Of course I'm crying, I thought I lost you," she said weakly.
Timmy hugged her tighter and said, "I'm here." Codatorta walked up to the two and was glaring daggers at Timmy. He took the hint and sheepishly added, "But not for much longer if you don't get off of me."
She looked up and saw the look her biological father was giving them and started to laugh. "Alright, help me up," she said simply.
…
When they returned back to the hotel. Codatorta got Ms. Faragonda on a video chat. The group of students and school faculty listened as Tecna explained what happened after her friends had left.
"I felt my power build up inside of me until it exploded and became the gigantic bird you saw. I am not sure what it was, but I knew it was there to help me. That's when you guys arrived and, well you know the rest," Tecna concluded.
"You do realize that you melted the ice around Timmy's heart, right? How did you do it?" Bloom asked.
Tecna shrugged, "I have no idea."
"I know," Timmy said holding up the shirt that Tecna spent her weekend mending. "I never told you why this shirt was important to me but obviously someone did," he said glaring at Helia. Helia scratched the back of his head knowing he was caught when Timmy continued, "When you handed me the shirt in the restaurant, I felt something strange in my chest. It felt like I was having a heart attack… Then, when I was unconscious, I was still aware of everything that was going on around me. I heard every word you said Tecna. I felt the fabric of the shirt sitting on my chest and was touched thinking how you spent your weekend mending it for me. When I heard that you were planning to surrender yourself to the Trix to save me, something in me snapped and I fought hard against the spell."
Tecna gave him a weak smile and said, "I'm glad you like the shirt, and I am overjoyed that you are alive, but why did you purposely put yourself in danger Timmy?"
Timmy bit his lip nervously and replied, "Well, I think you said it best Tecna. I simply couldn't bare losing someone I loved."
Tecna turned beet red and asked, "Oh, you heard that." Timmy nodded and placed his hand on top of hers.
Codatorta interrupted the moment, "Yeah, yeah, people do crazy things when they're in love. But if either of you do something this stupid again, I am going to have you running laps around the school until there's a moat. Now girls return to your room."
As the girls were leaving, Headmistress Faragonda said, "I will be meeting with you, Tecna, when you return to school on Tuesday. That includes you Timmy and Codatorta."
They nodded in agreement and said their goodbyes before turning the chat off.
As they left, Riven turned to Timmy and asked, "So, what does this mean for you two now?"
"I have no idea," Timmy replied honestly, "I guess I will find out tomorrow."
Tritannus let out an irritated growl and said, "I'm going to sleep. See you later."
"Looks like someone's jealous," Brandon whispered to Sky jokingly.
