The pain felt after being thrown to the ground isn't new to her. The scars on her knees and hands is proof to that. Being unceremoniously pulled through another dimension? Now that was new to her. Regaining her bearings, she opens her eyes and was greeted by the same colored portal she opened earlier. Dusting herself up she scans and her surroundings and was met by a dusty landscape with few dead-looking trees sprouting in far between the area. Unbeknownst to her, she was being watched by a figure on top of the swirling vortex, looking down at her unamused.
After scanning her whole surrounding, the skater girl concluded that she is nowhere near earth after seeing the orange colored sky and dark clouds taking the shape of a cartoonish lightning bolt. "Where the heck am I?" She says to herself and before she could ponder more on her question, she notice Marco leap out of the portal and frantically looking around the place.
The moment their eyes meet, she was quickly embraced by the hoodie-wearing teen while asking her if she was alright and saying that she should have been more careful. She answer his question with a smile assuring him that she was indeed just fine before pinching the side of his face in a joking manner and telling him that she didn't exactly plan on getting pulled through another dimension.
With a sigh of relief, Marco told her that they should go back to their dimension before who or whatever pulled her through the portal came back. Hand in hand they made their way towards the portal. But before they could get near it the vortex disappear instantly and was replaced by a figure who landed in front of them.
Surprise by the sudden appearance, the two quickly step back in shock. Used to seeing monsters and other weird stuff due to his adventures with the princess of mewni. Marco dropped into a fighting stance ready to defend themselves from the fiery figure. Staring at the entity they see that it was a woman with pale white skin and long red hair that was tied back by a black spiky hair tie. They noted that she could pass off as an albino human if it wasn't for the fact that she has spikes on her arms, jagged horns protruding from her head with a fire burning in between, pointy ears giving her an elven like feature, and fiery orange eyes that burns brighter depending on her mood. Her choice of clothes is an elegant yellow-orange ball gown that compliments her curvaceous body very well igniting a small pang of jealousy from the blonde teen.
The two teenagers tense when they see the figure raise her hand before pointing at the object she was holding. The teenagers tense after noticing that she possessed their only way home. "Where did you get this?" the fiery entity asks with an annoyed look. "Seriously, flesh wads. Talk." She asks again after not receiving an answer from the two.
Not tempting to piss her off even more Marco step forward and explained that he borrowed it from the butterfly heir. The hispanic teen waits with bated breath and silently hoping his excuse would fly. Unfortunately for the two earthlings, the excuse didn't work as she looks at them with an unamused look. "Wrong answer. I am the forger of all interdimensional scissors. " She said as she approach the two.
Running the scissor through her fire, she let it stay there for a few second while explaining that each scissors were made for a specific person before showing them a strange glowing written language embedded at the side of the blade. "Uh, dude. We can't read that." Jackie said as she along with Marco tried to decipher the meaning of the letters. Rolling her eyes at the clueless teens. "That's my name! HE. . Hekapoo!" She explained to the two. "You earth-landers are lame times a thousand." She continued before poking their face while making a 'boop' sound for effects.
Without another word, the forger named Hekapoo open another portal and told them to go home but not before reprimanding them that they shouldn't steal and use scissors that aren't theirs. Suddenly the hoodie wearing teen spoke up making Jackie looks at him then towards the forger nervously. Hekapoo on the other hand looks at him with amusement. "And how do you propose your going to do to get them back?"
Jackie nervously nudged him with her elbow before quietly asking him what is he doing. Marco replied that he's going to earn them back the scissors. Marco looks back at Hekapoo who was looking at him in amusement. The forger just stares at him before toppling over laughing as she got told that he would earn the scissors by going through her challenge.
Insulted and embarrassed, Marco approach the laughing demon and confidently telling her that he was serious. Collecting herself she looks back at the hoodie wearing teen with a smirk. "Oh, I am going to enjoy this." She said before turning her attention to Jackie. "How about you, freckles? Care to join?"
She already knew that whatever challenge Hekapoo has in mind would be extremely dangerous and that she would rather be back on earth with Marco safe and sound. She turned towards Marco who was looking at her worryingly but she could see behind it was the fire of determination burning brightly, silently telling her that he can do this.
Looking back at Hekapoo, she expected to be greeted by an amused and excited look but is instead greeted by a look of understanding. "You can back out you know." Hekapoo says gesturing at the still open portal. If she backed out now, Marco would be facing the trial alone and having the chances of him getting hurt or worse get killed grow even more. She knows that she isn't like Star, who has knowledge when it comes to magic and fighting monsters and she definitely knows she isn't as proficient in hand to hand combat like Marco. But she wholeheartedly knows that she can and will help him through anyways she can. Steeling her resolve she shook her head at Hekapoo's offer to back out and agree to join in her trial.
Knowing that it was his fault that got them into this situation, Marco pleaded with his girlfriend that she might get hurt or possibly get kill while doing the trial. Adamant with her decision she just squeeze his hand, silently conveying her decision to stay with him throughout the trial. Marco argued for a bit but finally relented as he see that his girlfriend is not changing her mind anytime soon.
All the while the two argued with one another, Hekapoo silently watch them with a bit of jealousy marring her face and the flame on her head burns hotter conveying her emotion. Quickly realizing what was happening to her, she reigned in her emotion and schooled her feature before anyone notices, she then closed the portal she had made for the blonde after she see the hoodie wearing boy relented seeing that his girlfriend was so adamant in staying with him.
The forger then gather their attention with a clap of her hands and started explaining the rules to the challenger. She was met with raise eyebrows and a laugh from the two. She smirked. Oh, how she cant wait to see the look on their faces change when they realize that blowing her fire out isn't as easy as they thought it would be.
She laughs at their individual attempts at blowing out her fire while hurling insults to provoke and put them out of their game. Realizing that they have no chance of winning if they attack as an individual as the forger of the scissors is faster than them, they decided to attack her in tandem. Although already dating one another they are still at the stage where they are still having trouble deciphering what the others were thinking. With coordination that can be compared to a new born duck trying to walk, Hekapoo effortlessly weaves in and out of their offense while taunting them.
As stubborn as any human, the two teens continue with their attacks, and slowly by slowly their coordination is getting more fluid with each attempt. Less vocal, less time on waiting on another, and a little bit less clumsy.
Although their coordinated assault got a little better it was still wasn't enough as Hekapoo continue to evade their grasps. Exhausted the two earthlings collapse on the ground panting and covered in dirt and sweat. Realization of the difficulty of the daunting task they are presented with, the two glances at one another, silently asking each other if they should continue or just walk away and accept their defeat.
Even though she and Marco are on the losing end of the trial, she couldn't help but feel excitement and joy. To her, it was like she's in a skateboarding tournament with the thrill amp up to a hundred. The stakes were high but in this trial, it is much higher and the prize is much sweeter. Is this what Marco and Star usually do in their adventures? A wave of envy bubble up within her. To think she could have gone on an adventure with them and experience much more than skating in the park. To go through dimension she dreamed to only exist in science fiction. Maybe she could ask them if she can join them in their next adventure she thought.
Noticing that Marco was still waiting for her, she gave him a thumbs up to let him know that she's with him, whatever choice he made. Marco nods in understanding before standing up with Jackie following his lead. They were after all tired but not defeated just yet. With renewed confidence pumping in their veins they approach the forger who was idly leaning on a tree, looking at them with a look of respect.
Pushing herself off the tree she was leaning on, she walks towards a clearing while smirking at the two. Before the two can question what she was doing she quickly created multiple portals varying in colors. "Well that's enough trial run, don't you think?" She said as she casually created multiple versions of herself. "Remember you must blow out my flames." Hekapoo said to them and gesturing towards her clones. "All of them."
Nimbly hiding the scissors, she and her clone then went through the open portals not giving the two a chance to find out who was the original. The two teens stand in shock as they realized the difficulty just got amped up even more. They can't even catch one of her in this dimension, now they have to hunt many more of her clones in other dimensions.
Marco stood frozen, still looking at the swirling vortexes in front of them. Panic starts to set in him as he realizes the many unknown variables are added when they in a dimension. Like a dimension where the world is barely hospitable for them, or a world where it is made home by deadly wildlife. His thought then drifted towards his long time crush and now current girlfriend. Unlike him, she only get a glimpse of the weirdness, sure she and the others have encounter monsters but those monsters are under the command of Ludo who only wanted the wand. There might be monsters and other recognizable entities on the other side but what is there to tell those are as safe as those as they usually encounter? He was broken from his train of thought when he felt Jackie grabs hold of his hand while still looking at the directions of the swirling portals.
The voice of Hekapoo reaches their ears as a new familiar blue portal opens at the center of the circle of portals. "One last chance to back out, earth turds." They heard her voice echoes around them. He felt her squeeze her hand, making him look at her again. Instead of seeing a face filled with uncertainty, she met his with a look of determination. "Together?" She asks with a smile. Marco stares at her before returning the gesture. "Together."
"So which one should we go through first?" Marco asks looking at the portal one by one. Jackie's sudden laughter earned her a questioning look from the boy. Seeing his face, she replies that they look like they're just window shopping and not potentially choosing a dangerous dimension. Understanding what she meant, he joined her in laughter momentarily forgetting their predicament.
"What about that one?" Marco said pointing at a neon green colored portal. Jackie playfully nudged him with her shoulder. "Any particular reason why you chose that one?" She teases earning a small blush to appear on his face. Awkwardly scratching the back of his neck with his free hand, he told her that he remember that it was her favorite color. Hearing his answer, she snorts in amusement and teasing him that he remembers something so trivial. Before he could reply to her statement, she guide him towards the portal they chose while jokingly telling him that he score a bf point for choosing this portal.
