Romantic Nonsense

Chapter 2

In the dim morning light, Maddie smiled over at Mike. He'd only been sleeping since about five, and Maddie groaned at the memories and how her body felt like jelly. It wasn't like it was something that she did a lot, taking guys back to her hotel room. But, she had been attracted to Mike; even on the James. She just couldn't do anything about it then. Now, she wasn't in the Navy, and neither was he. There was nothing wrong with what they had done; but she still felt odd.

Mike was still grieving for his family. Maddie knew that would never end but he practically worshipped his wife. Maddie didn't mind that. It was sweet, but she was afraid that he would regret their night together. And for Maddie; it had been an amazing night. She couldn't remember a better one and she wanted more. She didn't care about a relationship at that point. She didn't have the energy for dating, commitments, accountability and all that other nonsense. She was fine with simple sex with no strings attached. Just as she was about to get out of bed to shower, Mike wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer. He nuzzled behind her ear, which sent shockwaves through her.

"When's checkout?" Mike asked quietly.

"Eleven. Maybe by then I'll have a call on a job and can put a deposit on an apartment." Maddie answered. Despite being drowsy; Mike had cupped her left breast with his hand and was kissing down her back.

"And if not?" Mike asked.

"Back on the road to Louisiana." Maddie answered. It was really hard to think or talk with everything Mike was doing.

"You're from Louisiana?" Mike asked as he pulled her on top of him.

"Yeah. New Orleans." Maddie answered. She leaned over, grabbed a condom and handed it to him. She waited impatiently as he put it on. As impatient as she was, she wasn't going to risk a pregnancy with someone who was a one-night stand…maybe.

"I wondered about the accent." Mike said. Maddie straddled him, and lowered herself onto him.

"No talking." Maddie answered. She propped herself up on her elbows, and gave Mike a long kiss. He only groaned in response, but quickly was able to roll her over, all while kissing her.

A half hour later, Maddie smiled again at Mike. It was funny how quickly he could fall asleep after having sex. She was a bit jealous. She was also hungry. Due to being low on funds, she would just have to be satisfied with the continental breakfast the hotel offered. She slipped out of bed and took a shower. She walked back out of the bathroom, wearing skinny jeans, a loose fitting white t-shirt that still managed to show off her assets. Mike was sitting up in the bed, looking around at the clothing that cluttered the floor and the almost-empty box of condoms that were sitting on the nightstand.

"You have too many clothes on." Mike complained.

"Well, its nine now. I have to pack and I'm hungry. Figured I would go downstairs, get breakfast, and come back up here to pack. Maybe by then; I will have had a call from my job prospects so I don't have to start the drive back." Maddie explained as she tied her hair into a ponytail.

"I could find a way that would delay the drive back?" Mike offered.

"How so?" Maddie asked.

"Well; I have an apartment and could host you until you find a job. I even have a second bedroom, so if you weren't satisfied, you would have your own space." Mike answered. Maddie sat down on the bed next to him and gave him another kiss.

"I was definitely satisfied. No worries there." Maddie said.

"So, what do you say?" Mike asked.

"I would say; as irresponsible as it is; I hate the idea of driving back, so I suppose I could put it off for a few days." Maddie answered with a laugh.

"Good. I will make it worth your while." Mike said before kissing behind Maddie's ear, right as her stomach growled. "Alright; let's get you packed up and I'll spring for breakfast, something other than a continental breakfast." Mike said. He stood up and walked to the bathroom, not even bothering to put his boxers on, not that Maddie minded. She heard the shower turn on, and so she began packing up and cleaning up. What she had done was not like her and she might regret it later; but for now; it was fun and different.
