This had to be one of the worst of the more normal days since her life was once again turned upside down by the woman she still thought of as her mother.
Not only was she still reeling from the loss of said mother yet again the worst part was she hadn't even been able to spend the night cuddled up with her girlfriend due to some apparent 'vital mission' going on at the office.
Part of her wasn't surprised Michelle had left them. In that small way, she completely understood. After all, if it had been Nicole wondering lost outside the boundary line, she would most defiantly do everything she could to find her.
It didn't make it hurt any less though.
"So."
Waverly gritted her teeth and rolled her eyes as the slurred single word sounded from behind her as she deliberately turned away to do another quick count of bar snacks and the napkins people use instead of actual coasters.
"Heard your Mom ditched again." Champ hiccupped then laughed that annoying drunken laugh of his as he hauls himself up onto one of the bar stools.
"You're drunk Champ." Waverly points out wondering how in the hell he hadn't learned his lesson after the whole vampire murder Champaign thing.
"Just getting on some holiday cheer." Her ex snickers bringing up the bottle he'd brought with him up to his lips for another drink.
"It's not Christmas anymore." She reminds tossing her braided hair over her shoulder when she could no longer keep her back to him.
While trying to gently provide the last of her ex's alcohol out of his grip Champ splashed it into Waverly's face with an angry "Also heard that bitch cop-"
Wynonna came out of nowhere her fist connecting hard with Champ's face sending him sprawling onto the floor spitting blood and beer onto the sawdust-covered floor while the angry heir loomed over him. "Don't you dare talk about Nicole like that." She snarled planting her boot clade foot hard against the dazed drunken man's groin.
"Get the hell off-" Champ ends in a pained groan when Wynonna rocked forward digging the heel of her boot into her target.
"Oh, don't worry I am." Wynonna smiled sending her sister a sideways appraising look. "You alright baby girl?" she questions far more seriously as she once again puts more than a little added pressure on the thing under her heel. The move earned another pained curse from Champ.
Waverly nodded dabbing at her wet eyes with a clean bar towel as well as the front of her beer-splattered shirt. "Yeah, Yeah I'm okay." She could already tell her older sister didn't believe her but for once Wynonna held her tongue on the topic.
"Hey Sexy come comfort her while I take out the drunk trash and call Red Haught to come to get his sorry ass." Wynonna says instead making Waverly immediately brighten at the idea of finally being able to see the woman she loved even when her sister's gaze never wavering from Waverly's brightened but still downcast as she spoke.
Given the pet name Waverly assumed she would be momentarily responsible for Peacemaker still resting snuggly at her sister's hip. Much to her surprise a man in a loose-fitting tee shirt bearing the Purgatory Fire fighter's logo and a pair of light-colored blue jeans steps up behind her grinning elder sister.
Wynonna stayed long enough to press a kiss first to Waverly's forehead with a whispered: "It's gonna be okay baby girl." Then making a quick half turn to give another kiss to the mystery man's lips with a playful "Thanks, babe." Before she reaches down to start dragging a groaning Champ out the door by his ankle.
"I'm Charlie." Wynonna's newest flame introduces holding out his hand
"Waverly." She smiles back taking his hand with the one not covered by her trusty oven mit.
By the sound of it, Wynonna was nowhere near finished in berating Champ for badmouthing 'my spicy pop tart.' If Waverly was hearing her sister's not-so-hushed words correctly from the back corner where the two had ended up. "Only I can do that. She's my sister's ginger I'm allowed."
"So." The man she knew only as Charlie sighed after the two had shaken hands. "how about a game?" he suggests gesturing towards the back pool table.
"Sure." Waverly shrugged already crossing to pull to ques from the rack.
