Hello my loves. I am deeply sorry for the delay. I lost my notebook which has all my chapters written down in it. I can't just sit in front of a computer and type away. I need to copy it out. I know that way I am essentially writing my story twice but that's how I roll. Any way, I have now located my book (it was accidentally kicked under my bed) and can type up all of the chapters which I currently have written so this doesn't happen again.

Normal disclaimers apply.

"Can you believe mom told us to stay away from Chief Swan's kids? I mean he's a police officer, how much trouble can his kids get into?" Alice was pacing in my bedroom waiting for me to give her a ride to school. It was the first day back and I was dreading it.

Don't get me wrong, I like school, I just don't like the constant inane chatter that comes along with it.

Alice on the other hand is a complete social butterfly. Friends in all of the typical high school cliques and she just had to know everyone's business, not that she would do anything malicious with the information. It's just the way she is. As far as twins go we're complete opposites.

"I mean what if we have classes together? How am I meant to stay away from them then? What if they talk to me? I can't just ignore someone like that. It'd be rude. Mom's always told us to not be rude and be nice to people. She's gotta see how contradictory she's being right?"

I didn't answer any of Alice's questions as I got ready for the day. I knew she would eventually answer them herself and it's not like I would be able to get a word in edge ways either.

I grabbed my relatively light back pack and left Alice talking to herself in my room. I greeted mom in the kitchen with a kiss to her cheek.

"Morning honey. Looking forward to your first day as a senior?"

"I guess." I shrugged, pinching some bacon off of the platter and savoring the hot, crisp saltiness of it before swallowing it down and reaching for another.

"Don't think I can't see what you're doing." Mom said, swatting my hand away. "Sit down and eat."

"I can't. I gotta get to school early. Mrs Cope needs to see me in the office before classes start."

"I hope you're not in trouble."

"Mom, school hasn't even started yet. How can I be in trouble?"

"Don't get smart with me young man. Where's your sister?" She queried, turning off the stove.

I shrugged again. "She was having one of her moments in my bedroom, but I left her to it. Not sure if she's still in there or not." I glanced down at my watch. "I gotta get going ma. Love you. See you after school." I headed out to my car and honked the horn to let Alice know I was leaving. When she still wasn't in sight after five minutes I drove off. I didn't wan't to be late because of her.

I parked in my usual spot and made my way to the office, smiling at Mrs Cope as I entered.

"Oh Edward there you are."

"Hello Mrs Cope."

"I wondered if you had received that email. I just needed to let you know that you'll be Mr Swan's buddy for the next two weeks as he adjusts to the school." She motioned behind me. I looked round in time to see Chief Swan's son stand up from the row of seats along the wall and walk over to where I was standing.

"Sup." He said, socking me in the shoulder. Now I'm pretty tall, over six foot, but this man mountain seemed to tower over me. "Emmett." He grinned, sticking his massive hand out for me to shake.

"Edward Cullen. I believe we met the other day." I replied, shaking his hand.

"Oh yeah. Your mom seemed a little stuck up. No offence."

"None taken. I know what you mean."

"Emmett looked past me to the double doors. "Erm, is that your sister?"

I turned around to see a furious looking Alice tapping her foot outside the glass doors. "Yep."

"Who pissed in her soup?"

"Me...uhh figuratively I mean. I wouldn't actually do that. I am house trained. I swear."

Emmett burst into violent fits of laughter making both myself and Mrs Cope jump. "Oh Eddie, we're gonna be great buds. I can tell."

"Erm, okay, it's Edward and we better get going or we'll miss homeroom."

Luckily Alice was shooed away by a passing teacher, so I didn't have to face her wrath just yet. No doubt she'll guilt trip me into buying her something expensive to make up for the fact she had to drive herself to school.

Emmett -it turns out- just so happened to be in a majority of my classes, with the exception of Biology and Gym, so it was really easy to show him around, point out which shortcuts to take and what areas to avoid when it gets really crowded.

Our first class was English and Mrs Fonseca gave us all a small joint assignment and we were to work in pairs. Seeing as I was Emmett's buddy I agreed to be partnered up with him to work on the project. "You can come round mine after school to work on this if you like? Alice will probably go round her boyfriends this afternoon so we'll get some peace."

"Sure. Sounds cool bro." He nodded, drumming his pen on the desk. "Hey, does this school have a wrestling team?"

"Err yeah. We do. Coach Clapp is on lunch duty today, you can ask him about tryouts for the team then."

"Sweet. Are you on the team?"

"Wrestling? No way. I'm on the basketball team. Will hopefully make captain this year."

"Nice."

"Yeah." Great comeback Cullen. God no wonder you don't have more friends. You have the social skills of a damn Platypus! At least they sometimes mate with one another. You haven't even done that yet! Oh! I know what I can ask him. "So you and Bella are in the same year yet she said you were her younger brother. Are you like some type of advanced genius?"

Emmett started laughing. "No. Nothing like that. And don't for a second believe that Bella was held back a year. She's as smart as they come. No, you can blame overly horny parents and proving that breastfeeding equals contraception is a myth. Bella was born in September and I was born the following July, thus making us in the same year in school. It got very confusing to begin with as everyone assumed we were twins even though there's ten months between us." He shrugged. I could see the love he had for his sister radiating out of him. It's the same type of look I have for Alice when she's not bugging the shit out of me.

"That's cool. I just have a regular old twin. I love Alice, but boy can she be frustrating. Especially when she bursts into my room with no warning."

"I know what you mean bro. Sisters. Who'd have them."

After a rather odd lunch break where Alice sat with her girlfriends and pointedly ignored me, and me introducing Emmett to Jasper who just so happened to share the next class, it was time for me to head to Biology. I sat down at my usual desk and pulled out all the necessary text books, pens et cetera, when none other than Bella Swan walks in. Seeing as my desk had the only available stool she made her way over and shyly asked if the seat was taken.

"Uhm...no." I squeaked.

She gave me a demure smile and tucked her hair behind her ear before sliding onto the stool, dropping her bag at her feet while I just sat there and stared open mouthed at her.

"Yo Cullen, close your mouth or a fly might go in it." Tyler snickered from behind me.

I forced my jaw to cooperate, but continued to stare at Bella. She tried her best to ignore me and the sniggers going on around us until she couldn't take it any more.

"What?! Do I have food on my face or something? Why do you keep staring at me like you've never seen a girl before?"

"I-I-" I took a deep breath. The scent of strawberry lotion hit me and almost made me groan out loud. Fuck. I've never been this badly affected by a girl before. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to stare, but you're the prettiest girl I've ever laid eyes on. And no one has ever willingly been my lab partner for Biology before. I'm not sure if you remember me. We met on Saturday. I'm Edward. Edward Cullen."

"I remember, and thank you. I don't get called pretty very often."

"Well people are idiots."

"That's true, although sometimes they redeem themselves by calling girls pretty."

"Yeah." Edward you dumb ass, wake up! She just called you an idiot. "Wait, what?"

She didn't get a chance to reply as Mr Banner chose that moment to walk in and call the class to attention.

I tried to take notice of him as he droned on about the stages of mitosis, but I found focusing on Bella a lot easier.

"MR CULLEN!" Mr Banner yelled across the classroom. "Perhaps you could tell me why the anaphase stage is so important."

I floundered for a bit before Bella nudged me and pointed to the correct part of the textbook spread open between us. I recited the answer from the text and shot Bella a grateful look.

"Perhaps if you had been paying attention to the class instead of gawping at Miss Swan she wouldn't have had to help you. I'll let you off with detention this time as it's your first strike. Don't let it happen again."

"No sir. Yes sir. Sorry sir." I babbled, flustered at being caught out.

The bell rang then, signalling the end of class. Mr Banner held me back as the rest of the student body filed out. "What went wrong today Edward?" He asked as I stood in front of his desk. "You're normally my best student. You got straight A's in my classes last year and came out top of the class. The fact I had to call you three times to get your attention is not appropriate behavior."

"I'm sorry sir. I promise it won't happen again." I shuffled my feet and adjusted my bag. "It's just-"

"Miss Swan is attractive to you." He filled in for me.

I nodded dumbly like a mute child.

"I understand Edward but we can't let cute girls distract us from our studies. I remember the first time I set eyes on my Violet. I threw a basketball straight into my captains face because I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I got benched for the next game but she was worth it. Now, am I going to have to find you and Miss Swan new lab partners?"

"No sir. I'm sorry. I really am."

"I believe you. Here, take this." He handed me a signed tardy slip. "Make sure to give that to Coach Clapp. I don't want to see the schools best player benched for the season."

"Thank you sir. I'll make sure I'm not benched and I'll try harder in class tomorrow." I exited the classroom and and after making sure the coast was clear, I sprinted down the hall towards the gym.

I quickly changed and handed the slip to Coach Clapp who slapped me on the back and told me to run laps to warm up. I caught Jasper's attention whilst I was jogging around the perimeter and he joined me for a bit. "Dude, what went on in your class today? Tyler told me you couldn't stop staring at the new chick and got into trouble for it. Is it true?"

"Yeah. It's true. It's like I turn stupid around Bella. I met her for the first time on Saturday and the same thing happened. I just sit and stare at her."

"Man have you got it bad. Alice used to affect me the same way until I pulled my head out of my ass and asked her out." He clapped me on the shoulder and jogged off to rejoin the basketball match while I finished my laps.

I didn't mind running. It helped me to clear my mind and sort out my issues. I would become friends with Bella. Yeah. That's what I'll do. Maybe then I can stop acting like a mute goldfish whenever I'm near her.

I think I ended up running more laps than coach told me to as I was too focused on what was going on in my head.

By the time I sorted through all my mental crap the class was over and my team mates were filing into the locker room. Coach Clapp was stood by the stands with his fists balled on his hips.

I slowed to a jog before coming to a stop in front of him. "How much trouble am I in sir?"

"Trouble? Why would you be in any trouble? I just wish you would try out for the track team. You have a natural talent there son and you're letting it go to waste. Your team mates on the other hand suck when you're not on the court directing them. The game they played this afternoon was a complete shambles which is why I'm making you team captain this year. I know you'll be able to get us to the finals this year. Don't let me down Cullen."

"I won't Coach. Thank you." I accepted the captains arm band from him and jogged off to the locker room.

It was filled with half naked, sweaty boys who thought that whipping each other with their towels was better than washing off their stink.

Jasper was the first to notice the captains band in my hands. "No fucking way! Coach made you team captain? You didn't even play today." He exclaimed, taking the band out of my hands.

"Well Coach saw how shit you lot played and decided I was the best option. So suck it Whitlock!" I snatched the band back from him and hung it up in my locker, making sure the lock was in place before going to shower.

Oh Edward, what are we going to do with you?

Let me know what you think.

Much love x
