Eventually, Matt lead Lilith towards a rather large building.

"...How is there a place like this in town?" Lilith asked, before noticing Matt still walking inside, and followed him in, and noting a large amount of people fighting in arenas, as well as more arenas out back. "What IS this place?" She then asked.

"You may not believe it, but this town's got a pretty hefty vanguard community, ranging from the red gang all the way to famous cardfighters across the world. This place is basically a place to show your skills, and if you want to register, you can track your fighting record with one of their IDs." Matt said, flipping it out and tossing it to Lilith, who looked at it.

Yep, that's Matt alright...Wait, 400 wins?! Lilith thought to herself, shocked, and looking over at him.

"Yeah, I know, but you can't win 'em all. Those 20 fighters put up some good fights." Matt said.

"I wasn't reacting like that about your loss count!" Lilith said.

"...Oh." Matt said, blinking. "Awkward moment aside, membership of the Legion Sanctuary, that's this place, obviously, is free. All you've gotta do is pair your ID with your Neo-Fight system." He explained. "So, care to do a bit of training?" He asked.

"Uh, of course I would!" Lilith said, holding her Neo-Fight System out.

"...Dude, I don't work here, the reception desk is over there." Matt said, sweatdropping, as Lilith blinked.

"Oh. Sorry, got caught up in the moment." Lilith said, before awkwardly walking over, before rushing over to some of the fight arenas.

"Well, this oughta be interesting..." Matt commented.

After a few hours of fighting, Lilith was sitting on the nearby bench, staring at the ground.

"Y'know, I'm not gonna say you did bad, but...uh, yeah, nevermind, that was pretty bad." Matt said, sitting down next to her.

"Gee, you think? I think 10 losses in a row is pretty good." Lilith said, sarcastically.

"Could've been worse?" Matt asked.

"Yeah, like 11." Lilith said, before sighing. "That jerk was right, I've got no real strategy and I'm using a goddamn start deck..."

"Really hoping I'm not that jerk, because I only thought that second part, and never said nor thought the first." Matt commented.

"No, it's not you...It's that head of student affairs at our school. He was trying to offer me a deal to help me get stronger to fight that red gang leader, but at this rate, I'm never gonna even hold a candle, but I hate the thought of having to ask him for help even more." Lilith admitted.

"Uh, Lilith...He's in one of the arenas." Matt commented, pointing over to Maurus, as well as a rather large battleroid with white and red accents.

"It appears you've reached your limit. Dystopic Justice, Sylver attacks your vanguard." He said, turning around as the unit punched through another unit, dealing a 6th damage that wasn't a heal trigger.

"Are you kidding? He beat that guy like he was yesterday's garbage!" Lilith said.

"I dunno, three day old garbage sounds more appropriate." Matt commented, before noticing Maurus approach.

"I see you've found your way here as well." Maurus commented with narrowed eyes.

"...Yup." Lilith commented. "Let me guess, undefeated?" She asked.

"Yes, although it seems you've been struggling. Maybe you should consider my offer after all." Maurus answered, as Lilith just took her deck out and tossed it to Maurus. "If only you'd been so willing to listen from the beginning." he said, before going elsewhere and coming back with a suitcase, putting it down and opening it up, revealing countless other cards.

"...Well, you've got a neat collection, I'll give you that." Lilith admitted.

"So I've been told. It seems there was still plenty to find on this strange Resonance keyword lately." Maurus said, carefully moving cards around. "With that in mind, I can't tell you how to think in a fight, or at all, so the direction the deck takes from this initial one will be solely up to you." He said, putting the last cards in the deck, and handing it back to her. "So, in order to put you in a position where you'll have to make those decisions, I know just how to present them without getting you or someone else harmed." He said, taking a flyer from the wall and handing it to her.

"The...Junior Youth Cup?" Lilith asked.

"It's an event they're holding here tomorrow. They do it to scout out potentially powerful young fighters, and in your case, the perfect training opportunity." Maurus explained.

"Dunno why a group of adults want to see children fight each other, but that's life." Matt commented. "Heck, I'm entered in it already, too."

"Wait, you want me to go into a tournament of all things?" Lilith asked.

"Of course, and try not to get yourself in such a humiliating last place." Maurus told her, as she flinched.

"Are you getting some kind of sick entertainment out of this, or are you entering too?" Lilith asked.

"Of course not, I'm part of the Senior youth cup, where the adults are." Maurus said.. "However, people you know may still be there, it's quite the big event, after all." He told her.

"Just great...And you want me to go in there and try NOT to immediately bite it with a deck you tuned without me looking at?" Lilith asked.

"Yes, that's exactly the idea." Maurus answered. "Good luck tomorrow." he said, while walking out.

"...I hate that guy." Lilith said.

"Yeah, I think the whole room could tell." Matt commented.
