Hey, so here's the second chapter!
I don't have much to say here, so, enjoy!
Darkness and more darkness. That would be the best way to describe what was known as the Doom Dimension, the place where bakugan were sent to die, submerged in solitude and nothingness. However, some were able to stay alive for a small margin of time, trying to escape with all their being. But even that wasn't enough.
For as horrible as it may be, it's probable that the absence of light in the Doom Dimension has a reason. In the case that a source of light were to reveal what was hidden in such a place, most bakugan would be horrified. And it's understandable, after all, mountains of dead bodies aren't exactly a satisfying sight.
And even then, there are things light cannot reveal and darkness cannot hide. Anger and sadness, despair and frustration—all these emotions remain hidden in each creature's mind. But not this time, this time the accumulation of such emotions would result in something greater. They wanted revenge.
From each corpse, each fallen bakugan, small spheres of light came out of their chests, rising into the dark sky—if one could call it sky, that is. Eventually, the smaller spheres of light formed a bigger source of energy that could perfectly be compared with a supernova. And just as one, it exploded.
The enormous amount of hatred, sadness, despair, grief, resentment; became an unstable mass that didn't take long to explode. However, as unexpected as it could be, from the explosion of negative emotions, something emerged. As the light of the supernova started to dissipate, the silhouette of a giant creature could be identified.
As the creature assimilated its surroundings, it glanced up. He knew, for some reason he couldn't really point out, where to go. And in the blink of an eye, it had already flown away.
This activity did not go unnoticed, though. There were certain forces watching over the Doom Dimension. And such an event going unnoticed was a very unlikely scenario.
Izuse was running through an alley, trying to go back home on time so his mother wouldn't ground him. The sound of cars that filled the city disguised the sound of his steps.
The sun was starting to set on the horizon, so he increased the pace. He didn't want to risk his mother getting mad.
His bad luck, as usual, wouldn't make it as easy for him, though. As he exited the alley, he found a water pond, where he slipped and fell to the ground.
At this point, the only reaction he had was a sarcastic chuckle. He stood up, and aimed to continue, but his nose bleed made him stop for a moment.
While he looked for something to take care of his bleeding with in his pockets, he noticed something unusual on his field of vision. This, of course, caused him to turn to look at his side.
"A bakugan?!"
"What are you?" A small green ball asked before opening and turning into what seemed to be a toy.
Izuse raised an eyebrow out of confusion towards the question of the bakugan. "Don't you know what a human is?"
"Human... Never heard of such a thing," it started floating and got closer to the green-eyed boy. "I can sense other bakugan, but I can't locate them. I need to fight them."
"Fight? Wha-" he stopped himself as he realized what an opportunity this was for himself, as he had read online how powerful and rare talking bakugan were. "Well, um, if you want to fight you can join me."
"Join you?"
"Yes," he took his Ventus Siege out, "I have other bakugan companions that fight by my side against other bakugan!"
"Sounds interesting," the bakugan remained silent for a couple of seconds before taking a final decision. "If what you say is true, then I wish to join you."
"Great!" He couldn't hide his excitement, but then an obvious question came to mind. "Oh, and what's your name?"
"Hmm... I am... I think I am Leonidas."
"Alright, Ventus Leonidas, welcome to the team!"
As he woke up the next day, he realized that for once he'd waken up before his mother went into his room to do so herself. He stood up and moved his curtains slightly to check if the sun was already out, and it was.
He glanced to the desk on his room, where he'd left his bakugan and cards last night, and noticed the absence of Siege and Leonidas. He panicked.
Neither in the closet nor under his bed. However, as he moved the curtains away, he saw something. The two bakugan in their small forms pushing each other and occasionally jumping back to attempt something different. But of course, Izuse stopped the fight before anything else could happen.
"What are you guys doing?"
"This guy is fun! I hit him and he fought back, I like him!" Leonidas cheerfully said as he turned to look at the green-eyed boy. "Only downside is that he can't talk."
"That's rude..."
"What does rude mean?"
"Disrespectful." Izuse facepalmed himself as he found out he needed to teach his new addition some basic etiquette.
"Why rude? I'm quite sure I said I liked him." Leonidas complained, his previous cheerful tone dissipating in favor of a mad one.
"He can't control the fact that he can't speak, you dumbass!"
"What does dumbass mean?" Leonidas would raise an eyebrow if he could, there were so many words he didn't know of. He just learned this language by instinct, or at least he thought so, and didn't learn it fully.
"Never mind, just don't start more fights, ok?" He pointed at Leonidas, who moved upwards and downwards, attempting to imitate the nods he'd seen from Izuse a couple of time prior. "Alright, today we'll try you out in the park, so be ready."
"Oh, will we fight today?"
Unlike the day prior, this time the park was filled with boys and girls of all ages ready to have bakugan battles. As it normally was.
Izuse couldn't deny he had some extra confidence thanks to his newest addition to the team. Not to mention he'd gotten his Ventus Falconeer back as well. But even with that, he'd try to start with an easier challenge.
He spotted a kid that beat him by a little margin a month prior. He'd found the first challenge of the day.
"Hey, Daisuke!" the green-eyed boy called from behind, causing the kid to turn around.
With one of his eyebrows raised, the kid turned around. "You again?" That same arrogance from before, and he failed to turn it into shame. But this time it would be different, this would be his first victory.
"Me again," said Izuse confidently, a smirk forming on his face. "Let's battle!"
The kid rolled his eyes, knowing from the start what the result of their battle would be. But he still took one of his gate cards out as a battle against Izuse was free points for the rankings.
"Field open!" said the two of them in unison, freezing time all around them and entering a blank space in what probably was another dimension. At least according to Izuse.
Then, the two of them threw their respective cards onto the space between them, causing the cards to increase their size immensely once they touched the blank floor. "Game card: set!"
The kid beckoned Izuse that he would go first, and as the latter nodded, the kid took his first bakugan out. A small, white sphere was thrown onto the cards that had been placed a couple of seconds prior.
"Haos Terrorclaw: G power 315 Gs" announced the Bakupods of each brawler as they detected a battle going on, once the bakugan landed on the gate card.
"Alright, time to try you out," said Izuse as he grabbed Leonidas from his pocket. "Bakugan brawl!" He'd aimed his bakugan at the opponent's card, where the terrorclaw was standing, and once again he did not miss. He was starting to improve his aim.
As the bakugan landed on the card, it turned into a giant, slightly anthropomorphic dragon. The kid didn't recognize the bakugan neither in its ball form, nor in its bakugan form. Which was weird for him, as not only did he play everyday, but he spent his nights studying about them.
"Ventus-" the bakupod paused for a minute as it processed information, not recognizing Leonidas. "Ventus Leonidas: G power 400 Gs"
"Four hundred?!" The kid gasped once he heard the unknown bakugan's G power. "What? No way, that's like on par with The Top Ten's bakugan."
Izuse himself had been shocked at his new addition's power. He didn't really know how strong the Top Ten's bakugan were, though, so he couldn't really tell if such a statement was true or not.
"Bah, whatever. Gate card, open! Gate of Light!" The kid said, trying to ignore the dragon-like bakugan in front of his terrorclaw.
"Haos Terrorclaw's G power increases by 160 Gs. Ventus Leonidas's G power increases by 100 Gs."
"Ability card, activate!" said the kid almost immediately after the attribute bonuses from the card were given. "Bright light!"
A strong flash surrounded the kid's Terrorclaw, blinding Leonidas temporarily.
"Terrorclaw's G power increased by 50 Gs."
A drop of sweat went down Izuse's forehead while he looked through his ability cards. His eyes snapped, though, once he saw a new card that had randomly appeared on his deck.
However, before he could play it, Leonidas recovered his sight and attacked the opposing bakugan with his claws. Terrorclaw grabbed the dragon's hand with one of its pincers, and started slowly pressuring it, trying to cut it off.
Leonidas screamed, and kicked the giant crab in a desperate attempt to escape its grip. This didn't work, and only caused the Terrorclaw to strengthen its grip.
As his new bakugan continued to scream out of pain, Izuse reacted. "Ability card, activate! Alpha Blaster!"
A strong light appeared on Leonidas's mouth as he opened it, and the dragon aimed it at the Terrorclaw once he noticed what it was.
"Ventus Leonidas' G power increased by 200 Gs."
"Wha-" the kid was interrupted by the Ventus bakugan's energy beam, which left his mouth and hit his Terrorclaw, sending it back to ball form.
"W-woah," was all Izuse could push out of his mouth as his new bakugan turned around to face him. Leonidas went back to ball form and floated back to the green-eyed boy, who was still kind of shocked by how powerful he was. "My first victory..."
"What?" Leonidas asked, confused at such an statement. "Your first victory? Did I join a bunch of weaklings?"
"N-no, we're just unlucky!" Izuse laughed nervously, at least until he got interrupted by his opponent.
"What the hell is that monster?!" yelled the kid after witnessing Leonidas reach the 700 Gs. "How did you get such a strong bakugan? This... there's no way you have such a strong one..."
"Hey hey calm down," the green-eyed boy beckoned his opponent to relax a little. However, his advice was ignored.
"I surrender, I have no chance against that thing!"
Izuse thought his opponent was over exaggerating, but hey, who could say no to a free win?
The blank space all around them disappeared as they found themselves back on the park of their city.
"Did that thing just call me 'thing'?" Leonidas asked as both him and Izuse watched the kid run away.
"Technically, but he was just shocked by how powerful you are." The green-eyed boy explained as he put his cards back in his pocket.
"It felt great to crush that bakugan!" The Ventus dragon said as he remembered how his Alpha Blaster defeated the Terrorclaw easily.
Izuse ignored his comment, as he was distracted thinking about his first ever win. Apparently, Leonidas would be his key to success.
"Let's go and challenge some more!"
"More?! I'm in!" Leonidas exclaimed, his heart rate accelerating as he remembered his previous battle.
This chapter was basically Leonidas's introduction, I hope it was a good one. Would like to know your opinion on it, so feel free.
Anyways, I'll try to be posting another chapter this week, but with this I'm now working on two fics + I'm a uni student, so pls be understanding.
Outside from that, I have not much more to say, so hopefully see you soon!
