Second Chances for Nathan Chapter 12, Part 9, Page 79

As the town was all heading home, from the potluck, Allie was glad that there was no German potato salad left to take home. She had received lots of compliments.

Karen and her decided to run back to her house. Her mom and dad told her that she had a few hours to play and then be back home to clean up and get ready for school the next day.

Bill and Molly decided it was too nice to go straight home, so they took a long walk around the pond. "You know Molly. I have been holding back, but I have feelings for you that I'm tired of fighting. I think the feeling is mutual and if it is, I'd like to take you out on a real date. Would you like to go to Hamilton for a dinner date next Saturday weekend?"

"Why Bill, that would be lovely! I'm looking forward to spending time to get to know you." Molly smiled sweetly.

When they got back to Molly's house, they saw Dee and Nathan outside talking. Bill and Molly walked up to them and said how they enjoyed the potluck and joining the students and parents, but most of all the singing.

"I love the song," Dee was pleased. "It's more fun when the ladies sing one chorus and the men sing the other, and that's exactly what happened!"

Looking at Bill, Molly gushed,"Yes, it was a fun way to end the event." Bill winked in response to her.

"We're going to call Ma," Nathan said. "She'll be happy to hear from us." Nathan said as he put his arm around Dee.

"I want to say hello too." Dee told Nathan. "Wait until she hears about Karen coming here!"

"Say hello for us Nathan. Talk to you later." Bill said as he walked Molly home.

When they got to Molly's door, Bill kissed her on her forehead as Molly sweetly looked at Bill and blushed.

Inside, Nathan looked for Allie and found her upstairs in her bedroom with Karen. "Hi girls, I'm going to call Oma. Don't you want to tell her about Karen moving here?"

"Yea, I want to tell her!" Allie said. "Me too," Karen laughed.

They made the call and Oma answered right away. She was just sitting a spell talking to Barrett and Ella. "Oh my angel, how wonderful to hear your voice!" Oma exclaimed.

"Oma, guess what? Karen is here in our house. We just got back from a potluck and everyone loved my German potato salad. Now, Karen wants to say hello." Allie told her and then Karen got on the phone and said, "Hello Oma!"

"Hello sweetie! How do you like it in Hope Valley?" Oma inquired.

"It's so nice here. You got to come." Karen informed her, then handed the phone to Allie.

"Oma, Karen and I have to give the phone to Dad, he has good news to share!"

Allie teased. Then the two girls ran back upstairs to Allie's room.

"Ma," Nathan started, "I want to tell you something happened you need to know."

I asked Dee if I could court her and she said yes!"

"Is this for real? Oh my goodness my son, you make your Ma so happy!" Oma laughed. "Allie was right, this is great news!"

"Hello Emily! Yes, it's for real and I couldn't be happier!" Dee told her.

"Ma, we're both so happy. You were right, I needed to allow myself to heal. The only way I could do that was because of your advice. Love you Ma!" Nathan confirmed.

Emily was smiling and humming when she hung up the phone. Then she walked with the dogs to the pasture to check on Berta. Berta was just grazing, but she looked so sad. When Emily went up to her, she barely mooed. "Oh Berta, I understand, this old farm is so quiet without our angel or our Nathan. I need to go visit them. Now, don't you fret, it won't be right away."

When Emily went back inside she sat in her rocking chair and continued working on the outfit she was crocheting for little Nicholas. She was humming and crocheting until she got so sleepy she fell asleep in her daily nap. This time her dream was about Nathan and Dee. They both were together talking and laughing at a fancy dance hall. Nathan took Dee's hand and guided her on the dance floor. The tune was so cheerful with a beautiful melody. As they danced they were lost staring in eachother's eyes. The attraction to the other was very intense and they were both close enough to kiss, but were singing along with music. Emily could almost feel the sway of their dancing. They were singing, "Let me call you sweetheart, I'm in love with you. Let me hear you whisper that you love me too. Keep that love light burning in your eyes so true. Let me call you sweetheart, I'm in love with you." When Emily woke up, she looked around and realized she had fallen asleep. That song was so strong and real to Emily and wondered why she could still hear it?
