Second Chances for Nathan Chapter 13, Part 7, Page 87

Friday came and the first week of school was complete. The children were really enjoying learning the new jingles that Dee created to help them remember key facts in their subjects.

Timmy Lawson was interested in learning to play the piano better, and Angela was very pleased that she was able to teach him the notes of the scale to start. More of the children were interested in playing an instrument as they saw their friends inquiring. A few of the girls were thinking about singing too, so Dee was very happy. Now she had to talk to the parents, but most of them seemed willing to at least let their child try. Dee decided to have a special parents' meeting to talk about the music opportunities.

"Elizabeth, I best have an information time with the parents so I can find out who is definitely joining the after school music program and have them sign the parent's permission slip." Dee said as they walked to their homes.

"Of course, you might want to plan for Wednesday, so the parents will have time to make arrangements to come." Elizabeth suggested.

"I'll have to see that the teacher in Brookfield will send out a notice to the to the parents to meet with me on Friday. I'll have to call her today."

"Why today?" Elizabeth asked. Dee told her that she was going to a concert with Nathan, Molly, and Bill in Benson Hills Saturday, so she'll be too busy if she waits.

Elizabeth told her about her trip there on Christmas Eve with Rosemary and Abigail, who used to run the Cafe, and that they went to get a salami for Christmas, which made Dee burst out laughing. Then she shared how her precious boy, LJ, was born in a cabin out in the woods with Abigail and Rosemary helping. Elizabeth stopped to reminisce and beamed with joy.

"Oh my goodness, that must have been quite an experience, to say the least!" Dee remarked. "Well, there's nothing that extraordinary planned, but I am really looking forward to the concert!"

"You'll have a lovely time and you'll get to know Molly better too." Elizabeth smiled. "Enjoy your concert!" she said as she walked inside her house.

Dee stopped to talk with Allie who was outside with Karen who had just walked her dog, Dusty over to play with her sister, Ginger.

"Look at those two together playing," she laughed. The two sisters were tumbling about and biting each others feet and ears.

"Wait until their mother comes, she'll keep them in line!" Allie said authoritatively. "Oma is bringing Ella with her. Barrett is staying at the farm. He'll be a good watch dog for Jack. Twinkles the cat is still residing in the barn too. Berta is not doing much of anything, but Oma made sure Jack would just let her live out her days at the farm."

"Great! It'll be wonderful to see Oma here, and Ella too." Dee smiled. "See you soon Allie".

"Okay, Dad said he'll be gone all day tomorrow with you to a concert. I'll be staying over at Karen's house. I hope you have a great time. You know, Dad is his old self again. I am happy you are in Hope Valley!" and she gave her a hug.

"Me too!" Dee said as she left to walk to Faith's house.

She quickly made a call to Brookfield school and asked that a flier be sent out for the parents about coming to an informational music meeting that Friday.

As she was sitting at the kitchen table planning her lessons for next week, she heard a knock on the door. She was greeted by a handsome Mountie all dressed in his red serge and looking very dapper.

"Hello my sweetheart! I've missed you!" as Nathan handed her a bouquet of flowers.

"Oh Nathan, a girl could get used to this!" she said and gave him a kiss. "Let me see where Faith has a vase."

"Are you staying?" she asked.

"I can't, I have my evening rounds to do." Nathan sighed. "Just checking on my girl!" and he pulled her in close for another kiss. Dee slowly reached up and ran her hand through his thick wavy hair and then nestled under his chin. She closed her eyes and just held on to his embrace for a little longer.

Then she pulled away and said, "I hate to say this, especially now, but Fiona suggested you come in for a haircut and shave before we leave tomorrow."

"Talk about killing the mood." Nathan laughed. "What time?"

"Before we ladies take over. Molly and I are getting our hair done!" Dee informed.

"All right, I've been meaning to take care of this for awhile. Nathan agreed. "I can't wait for tomorrow," and with that he winked and gave Dee a goodbye kiss.

Dee closed the door and closed her eyes. Tomorrow he would see her in her new dress and hair do, and she would be escorted by the most handsome man in town!
