We start off with Dwayne Junior narrating.
The school system, the way it's set up, is useful for helping young kids achieve their goals. But, the students of Bronzestone high, can sometimes crack under the pressure, and make bad decisions. This is the difficult freshman year.
The tugs theme then plays.
Junior's POV
In every high school, their are classes, and Bronzesone high is no exception. As I said in the previous story, how we did on the entrance exam, determines what classes we take. The day obviously starts off with homeroom, then 3 regular classes happen, then lunch, then another 3 classes, and finally it's the end of the day. Our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Hills, had certain words for me during homeroom.
Reader's POV
As it was the first day, Mrs. Hills was taking attendance. She hesitated when when she got to the last student, before saying the name, "Dwayne Santori the second." Everyone then looked at Junior. "Present" he said. "This school is all too familiar with the Santori family, your father was the only student in Bronzestone history, to be voted the most popular student all 4 of his years." "He managed to become a school prefect his senior year." "Considering the things you've already done during the events of the Ridiculous race, I expect big things from you Mr Santori."
Junior's POV
While I don't think she meant to add pressure, she made everybody in that room, think I was going to be a repeat of my dad. When it comes to being a former reality show contestant, i'm usually fairly modest. I enjoy signing autographs here and there, but I don't rub my fame in others faces. I usually just try to be treated like a regular guy.
I had classes with all of the students that I mentioned were in my group. I took popular literature with Seth. Several students had to be reminded, that there were several differences between the Harry Potter movies, and the Harry Potter novels. It was no surprise that halfway through the class, Seth had to ask if he could go to the bathroom. I took calculus with Hudson. Some of the numbers just seemed so off, and I was surprised that I actually got picked to be in this class. Zoology with Wilson was up there as one of my favorites. I was really fascinated with the life of several different animals. Of course when we got to lunch, there were several people who wanted to sit at my table in the cafeteria.
Reader's POV
"Did you really go around the world?" asked one of the students. "Not exactly, I made it halfway before getting eliminated by a mechanical bull" said Junior. "Shame you never got to see England, you would have enjoyed Buckingham palace" said Terrence. "I've never heard of Buckingham, but it sounds like it's got nothing against horse meat" said Wilson. "Wilson you nincompoop, Buckingham is not a type of ham" said Bertha. "I love you because you're my cousin, but your stupidity is pissing me off." "Now now children, play nicely" said Oscar. "Oh and Junior, don't think you have to live up to your fathers expectations." "You just be the best you can be."
Junior's POV
I really liked Oscar the groundskeeper. He was a wise old mentor, that was always willing to help others in need. He knew a thing or two, given how he used to be the principal for several years. He could remember his younger days as the principal, back when my dad was a student of his. Whenever the two of them weren't in school, they would pull pranks on each other during the weekends, and they would both share a laugh.
The second half of my classes were really interesting. No surprise, I was taking United Kingdom history with Terrence. He knew the answer to so many questions, that the teacher had to kindly ask him to not raise his hand, and let other students try to answer. I then knew how to handle auto mechanics. Bertha was actually the only female in this class. Nobody really judged her, for being a female that wanted to work on cars. This was the section of the entrance exam, where I was the only student to get a 100% in this portion. I figured out so much about cars, courtesy of my NASCAR knowledge. Not wanting a repeat of Terrence, I didn't raise my hand once, despite knowing every single answer. But quite possibly my favorite subject, was dance class in the gymnasium. This was a subject the entire group was in. For certain dances, we needed a partner. The partner that we chose, would be our partner for the rest of the year. Me and Bertha decided to pair up, and this will be an important point in a later story.
Now obviously, there are way more classes than this, but they had to whittle it down to just six. Students did have the option to take extra after school classes, if they weren't in detention, or in an after school club. While this wouldn't be something I would do right away, I would occasionally do this in a future story. Taking extra classes would be a difficult way to start out, as there was already homework from the main six. Now at the end of the day, there was a thirty minute window in between the end of the final class, and for when the buses were to take us home. I usually used this time to get a head start on my homework. I asked Oscar if there was a quiet place to work where I won't get bothered, and he told me that my dad asked the same question when he was a student. He said that nobody usually hangs around the homeroom classroom. But as I was in there, shit hit the fan.
Reader's POV
Junior was struggling on a calculus question, when a twelfth grader with a nose ring came into the room. "Listen here you little bastard, my name is Chester Creed, and i'm the most popular kid in school." "I'm going to be the most popular student, four years running, and i'm not going to let you take it from me, all because they know you for your precious daddy." "I'm going to make your life hell here, and make sure you don't fuck anything up." Chester then proceeded to beat the crap out of Junior, before leaving the room laughing.
Junior's POV
While there wasn't blood, several areas on my front side under my shirt, were covered in bruises. Chester told me that if anybody else found out about this, the same thing was going to happen to my dad. So of course, I didn't go straight to the nurses office. This was going to become irritating over most of the school year. I had to walk to the bus at a not very slow pace, so nobody would know I was in pain. Moving quickly while covered in bruises, obviously increased my pain. When I finally got home, I found out I was going to be getting my first ever roommate, but that is a story for another day.
Authors note: Chester's last name, actually comes from my least favorite NASCAR driver. If you've read my fast fics, you know that I like to bash on Sheldon Creed's fake championship. And yes, Junior x Bertha will become a ship in this story.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
