We start off with Dwayne Junior narrating.

The school system, the way it is set up, is useful for helping young kids achieve their goals. But, the students of Bronzestone high, can sometimes crack under the pressure, and make bad decisions. This is the difficult freshman year.

The tugs theme then plays.

Junior's POV

That night, the pain was becoming too much for me. I got out of bed, and went into the bathroom. I took off my shirt, and it wasn't a very pretty sight. Most of my sides were covered with dark bruises. There was even a couple cuts. I had bad blood stains on my shirt. There was no way I was going to tell a doctor, nobody was supposed to know about my condition. I went for the medicine cabinet, and began putting bandages on. What I didn't expect, was Izzy walking in on me.

Reader's POV

"Haven't you ever heard of knocking?" asked Junior. "I saw that the light was on, and heard you moaning, must have been the rubbing alcohol" said Izzy. "It's nothing too serious, I just got hit with a baseball a bunch of times during tryouts" said Junior. "I would appreciate it if you didn't tell mom or dad, I don't want them to be concerned."

Junior's POV

Between you and me, we both know where the injuries really came from. Of course, I wasn't going to tell Izzy. She agreed not to tell my parents, and said that she respected somebody who can fight through the pain.

Over the next couple of weeks, Chester was still giving me a hard time, constantly hurting me. I felt weak, but I still struggled on through baseball practice. During dancing classes, Bertha pointed out that I was having trouble keeping up with her. I simply just lied to her, and said that I had stomach cramps.

I'm not going to lie, the way the end of term exams work, are weird. Basically, during the final week of the school, there is no teaching and it's all studying. All of the students actually have one big sleepover inside the school Monday through Thursday, and we take the exams on Friday. I though school sleepovers were something that only happened one night, not a whole week. I guess they just wanted everyone to have more time to get to know each other. But the real good stuff, happens on the Monday afterwards. All of the students and their families come together, for an end of term feast. But a week before exams, there is actually an end of term dance, and I surprisingly got a date.

Reader's POV

In auto mechanics, Bertha was helping Junior handle some heavy car parts, as Junior was still in a lot of pain. "So, do you still have a crush on Carrie?" asked Bertha. "Not really, it didn't take me that long to lose interest in her, but she's still a friend" said Junior. "Does this mean you're open for dates to the school dance?" asked Bertha. "More than likely, who do you think would be interested in me?" asked Junior. "Oh i'm more than interested, i'm infatuated" said Bertha. "Congratulations, who's your special someone?" asked Junior. Bertha was starting to get angry. "You obviously can't take the hint, that i'm hitting on you" she snapped. "Oh, okay then, i'll go tot the dance with you, and we'll see where we go from there" said Junior.

Junior's POV

I told my parents that Bertha might be taking a liking to me, and when they tried to tell me about the birds and the bees, they had a stern talk with Izzy for already mentioning it to me. Little did I know, that Bertha was actually going to save my life at one point. But that is a story, for another day.

Author's note: I'm not going to spoil anything, but the scene where Bertha saves Junior's life, is going to be a very serious scene.

Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
