Hi guys, thank you for the wait and your reviews. I really appreciate them. Someone said that some parts are hard to figure out. I've proofread and edited the chapter. Give it a read if you have time and see if you understand better as I changed some parts but I'm not really confident in my proofreading as every time I read I always find some mistakes but it should be better than before. Lol. About Tatsuya not being freshmen representative, it's explained in this chapter. You should have got a hint from reading about Tatsuya's and Miyuki's description in chapter 1. If you still can't get it, I'll try to explain again. And it's not an Harem I assure you. If someone is here for harem then sorry to disappoint you because I'm not very fond of harem. So yeah, it's purely Tatsuya x Miyuki story. Someone also has something to say about Tatsuya having emotion. Well it does have a reason behind it and you need to wait to find out. Anyways thank you again for the reviews.
Waking up he found himself staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. Where was he again? Ah, he remembered now.
Tatsuya was currently in Shiba residence. He was now laying on a bed in a room which was previously Shiba Tatsurou's, his aunt's ex-husband's bed room.
His aunt and uncle had separate bedrooms but there wasn't really any need for that given it was rarely used. It didn't mean that Shiba Tatsurou shared a room with his wife, it was because he was hardly ever home; most of the time he stayed at his mistress's place. Well whatever…
Speaking of which, it wasn't as big as his room in Yotsuba villa but it was adequate. When his eyes found the clock on the bed side table he noted that he still had a few minutes before getting up. So he thought to close his eyes, not that he's going to get any sleep.
His biological clock was such that even if he wanted to it wouldn't allow him to sleep in. Regardless he closed his eyes and the memory of the day before came back to him.
He had come home (where he would be staying for the time being, so yeah, home) with Miyuki and they were greeted by Shiba Miya and Sakurai Honami. When he was shown his room which was across from Miyuki's, much to his satisfaction, he found his things already there. Hanabishi Hyougo did a perfect job of delivering his necessities beforehand.
He had a lovely dinner with his cousin/fiancée, aunt and her guardian who kept teasing them subtly at every possible chance she got causing Miyuki to blush continuously. His aunt didn't say anything but she was amused as the corner of her lips went up more than once.
The talk they had before getting home had helped to melt away the awkwardness between them somewhat. Miyuki was still shy and all but she wasn't uncomfortable around him anymore.
While eating he learned that the food was made by Miyuki. He was surprised. He never really thought that besides her ethereal beauty and overflowing magical power, she had a talent for cooking. He really enjoyed her food.
He was surprised yet again when he drank the coffee Miyuki made. It wasn't as good as Hayama-san's but if he was being honest it was the second best coffee he had had so far. He really didn't know where to start complimenting her. She was just too perfect!
Looking at the clock Tatsuya cursed. He was five minutes late which had never happened before. He realized why though. After meeting Miyuki his head had been filled with thoughts of her and he had been noticing too many things than he would love to admit.
Sighing he got out of the bed.
After washing his face he came downstairs and was surprised to find Miyuki in the kitchen.
Sensing that she wasn't alone, she turned around to find Tatsuya standing near the dining table.
"Good morning," she greeted him.
"Good morning, you are surprisingly early," he sat down in one of the chairs.
She placed a glass of fresh fruit juice in front of him and he drank it gladly, for once not bothering to see if it was poisoned or not. Checking food before eating or drinking was like second nature to him. Not like any poison could harm him. He was just too used to do it to change his habit.
'Another first…' he thought absently.
"I just couldn't sleep," Miyuki admitted after taking a seat across from him.
Before he could open his mouth Sakurai Honami chose that moment to enter the room and interrupted them unintentionally, "Oh my, you guys are awake?" She walked in wearing an apron over her maid uniform.
"Good morning, Tatsuya-sama, Miyuki-san!" she greeted them.
"Good morning, Honami-san," Miyuki greeted back.
"Good morning."
Tatsuya got up from the chair to go to his training.
"Tatsuya-sama, are you going out for training?" Honami asked.
"Yeah."
Her eyes lit up for some reason. "I know! Why don't you take Miyuki-san with you?" she asked cheerily clapping her hands.
At Honami's suggestion Tatsuya's eyes went to Miyuki who appeared surprised herself. Feeling his eyes on her she met his gaze.
"I don't really mind but do you want to come along, Miyuki-san?" he asked.
"Is it OK for me to come?" she asked hopefully. She really wanted to see him training. She had heard from her mother and Honami about him training under a famous ninjutsu user – Kokonoe Yakumo.
"Sure," he gave her a reassuring smile.
"Then give me two minutes to change," smiling Miyuki went up to her room.
"Take your time," he responded at her back.
In the morning fresh air Miyuki glided up the hill road against gravity. Her long hair fluttered with wind. Tatsuya was keeping up to her as he jogged beside her.
She was surprised when she learned that his training place was ten minutes away from their residence. He also informed her that he would be coming to train everyday from now on when he used to come here twice a month.
When they reached their destination, which was at the foot of a temple Tatsuya ushered her to go up. As she started to ascend the stairs she didn't meet any obstacles but Tatsuya was met with a violent greeting.
Mid-stairs she turned around in shock as more than two dozens of people attacked her fiancé from all direction. "Tatsuya-san!" she cried out.
Throwing two guys flying as if nothing happened, Tatsuya responded, "This is usual greeting, don't worry!"
"Go up and wait for me. I'll be there in a minute," he assured her in between punches.
Recovering from her initial shock, she was fascinated to see him fight with ease. She was filled with awe as she watched him fight through those bald guys. Half a minute later she turned around and went up as she was told.
She knew the length of her fiancé's power. He was a fearful magician and a great fighter but unfortunately she never had a chance to witness his magic or combat abilities.
She covered her yawn with her hand. Last night she wasn't able to sleep at all. She was glad that they had a nice talk without any interruptions, just the two of them. But recalling their conversation, specifically the way he expressed that he was attracted to her and wanted to kiss her again, she found herself blushing furiously. Honami-san also teased her to death.
When she thought that he was staying just across from her room, it got her all worked up and she was restless all night. She had tossed and turned in her bed and before she knew it the sun was already peeking out from the horizon. She knew that she wouldn't be getting any sleep, so she left her bed earlier than intended.
She was beyond happy when Honami-san gave her a chance to see him training and it irked her to know that he had been coming here twice a month but she never knew about it.
While she was drowning in her thoughts an unfamiliar voice asked, "Who might you be, beauty?"
She turned around, startled. She found a bald man in a black robe whose age she couldn't guess standing there. What made her uneasy was that she hadn't felt him coming near her which had never happened before. 'Who is he?'
Her hand reached in her pocket to get her CAD but before she pulled it out of her pocket she heard Tatsuya's voice behind her from mid-stairs, "Master, that's my fiancée, Shiba Miyuki."
She turned back to see him jogging up and within few seconds, he was beside her.
'Master?' realizing Miyuki turned around quickly and gave a deep bow, "My apologies. I'm Shiba Miyuki, nice to make your acquaintance, Kokonoe sensei."
"Nice to meet you too, Miyuki-kun!" he threw her a smile before saying, "So she's the chosen one?"
"Chosen one?" his brows furrowed.
"Well your cousin/bride, so chosen one," he replied with a grin.
Rolling his eyes at his choice of words he asked, "So you have already known?" Tatsuya didn't even bother to ask how he knew because sometimes he even knew some things before he knew them and if asked how, he would always reply with the same words, "Because I'm a shinobi."
Without replying he just grinned and said, "Let's get started."
Miyuki along with the disciples watched in amazement as they went at it. About 15 minutes later they stopped with Tatsuya laying flat on the ground breathing heavily and his master sitting beside him sweating.
Miyuki knelt beside Tatsuya with a worried look, not caring that her clothes were getting dirty. She produced two hand towels – who knew from where and handed one to Kokonoe who gladly accepted it with a nod of thanks and with the other one in hand she leaned over Tatsuya.
While dabbing it over his forehead, temple and face, she asked worriedly, "You OK, Tatsuya-san?"
It was cold against his wet skin and felt good. Tatsuya comprehended that Miyuki must have cooled it with her magic beforehand. Giving her a slight smile of appreciation he said, "I'm fine."
Taking a deep breath he sat up abruptly and suddenly found their faces close, just few centimeters away from each other – their breath fanned each other's face.
Before passing a second Miyuki quickly got up and looked away, her face heating up.
Yakumo watched the scene with amusement from the side but didn't make any comment.
Tatsuya sprang up. His eyes automatically moved to her skirt. It had got dirty because of kneeling on the ground earlier.
"Sorry, I got your skirt dirty," he apologized, more like wanted to repel the awkward silence.
Thanks to the morning breeze her face had cooled down, so she turned her face around and gave him a small smile saying, "It's OK."
Pulling out her mobile shaped CAD from her pocket she entered a few digits and initiated a magic. Suddenly clouds appeared out of nowhere and wrapped around Miyuki and Tatsuya both. When the mist dispersed their cloths became immaculate.
Yakumo gave a small clap, "That's a nice magic, as expected of Tatsuya-kun's bride." He praised.
It made Miyuki flush.
Ignoring his master's comment Tatsuya said, "Thanks for cleaning mine as well."
"It was nothing," Miyuki responded.
Tatsuya was also amazed at how skillfully she evoked her magic. Just like Miyuki, Tatsuya also had just heard about her being talented in magic but this was the first time he witnessed it.
As he saw her magic an idea came to his mind. He wondered if she would let him calibrate her CAD.
Getting out of the cabinet car they walked side by side as they entered the gate of First High School. They knew that people were eyeing them for coming to school together – the freshmen representative Shiba Miyuki and the Yotsuba Prince Yotsuba Tatsuya – 'an angel and a devil' quite the pair, if you ask.
Though people were curious about them coming to school together, they didn't have the courage to approach them out of fear which they took advantage of and walked forward.
They could see a red haired girl having a fight with a guy and a bespectacled girl was trying her best to stop them. You don't need to be a genius to know who they are.
Miyuki and Tatsuya exchanged a look between themselves before walking towards their friends' direction. As they got near they heard a part of their conversation.
"What did you say!?" the guy roared.
Not backing down Erika said as if repeating something, "I said, are you an idiot?"
"Why am I an idiot?"
"Only an idiot wouldn't see someone walking before bumping into them." Erika said while gesturing her hands as if it was something obvious.
"Stop it, Erika-chan!" Mizuki was struggling while trying to stop her friend.
"Mizuki!" Tatsuya called out.
"Tatsuya-san! Miyuki-san!" she cried out in relief as if her savior had appeared.
"Miyuki, Tatsuya-kun! Good morning!" Erika greeted them cheerfully, waving at them as if she wasn't fighting with the guy beside her just a moment ago.
"Good morning, Erika, Mizuki," Miyuki greeted back.
"Morning," Tatsuya greeted shortly before asking, "What happened?"
"Nothing much, just this idiot bumped into me," Erika pointed her finger towards the unfamiliar guy.
"Hey!" he yelled, getting worked up and they started throwing words at each other again.
Watching the pair Tatsuya thought that they were quite compatible with each other but he didn't voice his thoughts because from what he gathered while talking to Erika yesterday, he knew that she would get mad if he said that.
As they kept going Miyuki said, "Erika, stop now!"
"Give it a rest, Erika, and?" Tatsuya added and turned towards the guy.
"Oh, I'm Saijou Leonhart," he took the chance to introduce himself and further added, "My father's a half and my mother's a quarter, so while I look Japanese, my name is Western. Anyways just call me Leo, nice to meet you!" He held out his hand in greeting.
This may be the first time any guy had talked to him frankly without any fear, awe or any ulterior motives. It was refreshing for Tatsuya.
He took his hand, "Likewise, I'm Yotsuba Tatsuya. Just Tatsuya is fine." He waited to see his reaction.
"So you are the famous guy!" Leo said with a slight smile, to Tatsuya's surprise he didn't seem to be intimidated by him.
It's not like he wanted everyone to be intimidated by him, not really. It's just ever since he set his foot in the school he saw fear in most of the students' eyes, except his fellow female classmates. Well they were also afraid of him but for some unknown reason they kept crowding him yesterday nonetheless.
"Famous?" taking his hand back he asked.
"I heard that you got 96% marks in written exam and some other stuff but what I don't get is why people are so scared of you," he replied offhandedly.
Tatsuya heard a chorus of gasps and he didn't need to turn his head to know who – Mizuki and Erika were shocked at the piece of information.
"Tatsuya-kun, is that true?" Erika asked.
"Yeah," he didn't see any reason to deny it.
"Wow!" she exclaimed with amazement.
"Then why are you not the freshmen representative?" Mizuki asked innocently. Then she shot a look at Miyuki, belatedly remembering that Miyuki was there with them.
Miyuki shook her head in response indicating that she wasn't offended with a smile.
"My practical skill isn't as remarkable, it's average," Tatsuya replied in a matter of fact manner.
At some point they all had started walking. Miyuki was walking on Tatsuya's left while others were on his right side. At Tatsuya's response she took a step ahead so that she could see all of their faces.
"Not really, we don't have that much difference between our overall marks, just two," Miyuki supplied resourcefully. The look she gave Tatsuya clearly said that 'You are just being polite.'
Tatsuya raised his eye brows at the information and turned his head towards her, giving her a meaningful look – his look clearly said he would like to know how she knew that and Miyuki looked away, not meeting his eyes, her cheeks heating up.
Erika and Mizuki watched them with amusement while Leo asked pointing his finger towards them, "Are they together?" Mizuki's face was red and Erika just shrugged. Those didn't reply his question but they neither confirmed, nor denied it.
When their small exchange between Tatsuya and Miyuki ended Erika said, "So your practical skills aren't that average as you make it sound like."
Tatsuya could only sigh at that and Erika grinned.
"Saijou-kun, you aren't afraid of Tatsuya-san?" Miyuki asked the question she knew everyone in their group wanted to know including Tatsuya.
"Why do I need to be afraid of him?" he asked back, confused.
"He's a Yotsuba," Erika pointed out.
"So what? Are Yotsubas that scary?" he asked turning his head towards Tatsuya.
Tatsuya didn't know how to respond to that question without sounding like he's boasting or anything at that regard.
Now feeling like she had made a mistake by asking the question in the first place Miyuki looked up at Tatsuya and found him looking at her. It seemed like somehow he had read her mind and shook his head as if saying that 'It's not your fault.'
As his question was met with silence Leo said, "I've never really met one before until you and I honestly don't know what's there to fear about them. Right now I can just say that I'm not afraid of Tatsuya."
Tatsuya was glad to hear that and it brought a smile to the girls' faces. Erika was amazed at his way of thinking – not knowing whether he's too brave or a total idiot.
As if to change the subject Mizuki asked, "Leo-kun, which class are you in?"
"Class E," he replied. Others also informed him about their classes.
Miyuki smiled after a quick glance at Erika and so did Tatsuya. They exchanged a look. He thought, 'Well… Now that seems like destiny.'
After separating from their friends, Tatsuya and Miyuki went to their class. When they entered the whole class fell silent. Tatsuya quickly spotted his seat and went there, not bothering to greet anyone.
On the other hand Miyuki greeted her classmates with the grace of a lady and with that the spell of silence dispelled. She spotted her seat which was surprisingly in front of Tatsuya. When their eyes met, he flashed her a slight smile from his seat.
Her face warmed at that and she threw a tiny smile at his direction before making her way towards her seat. A girl with two pig tails was standing near her seat, seemed like talking to the girl sitting in front of her seat who had short hair. She looked panicked for some reason when she looked at her direction.
Miyuki passed by her and when she was about to take her seat the girl with pig tails turned around. She took a step towards her direction, only to trip on her own feet and lost her balance.
While falling she shrieked and bumped into Miyuki causing her to lose her balance as well but fortunately her fall was broken. She found herself being pressed against a sturdy body as a pair of strong arms encircled her tiny waist.
She didn't need to turn around to know who it was.
"Miyuki-san, you OK?" Tatsuya asked. His voice in her ear and them being pressed closely like this made her flush but the concern in his voice stopped her from thinking these things.
Turning her head back towards him she replied, "Yes, I'm fine, thank you."
Finally Tatsuya let go of his fiancée's waist and they found people staring at them. Boys were staring at them – specially at Tatsuya with envy which clearly screamed that they wanted to be in Tatsuya's place and girls were watching them with dreamy eyes.
They also heard some of them whispering, "They are already on first name basis!"
"How did that happen?"
"Are they acquaintance?"
"Are they a couple?"
"They look so good together!"
Miyuki's flush darkened at their looks and conversations while Tatsuya ignored them.
The fallen girl was helped up by the short haired girl and she was asking her if she was OK who replied her in positive before turning towards the couple.
She was ashamed and looked down, not being able to face them. Miyuki stepped towards her and asked gently, "Are you hurt somewhere?"
"No, I'm fine!" she squeaked out straightening herself. Her over the top response made Miyuki blink curiously, while Tatsuya seemed amused at her reaction.
The short haired girl beside her whispered something in her ear encouragingly which they both heard, "Go Honoka, this is your chance!"
Encouraged by her words she nodded at her friend. Then she turned towards them with a determined look on her face. She greeted them with a bow, "Hello, I'm Mitsui Honoka, nice to meet you Shiba-san, Yotsuba-san! And I'm sorry for earlier!"
"It's OK, nice to meet you too, Mitsui-san," Miyuki gave her a small smile.
"Likewise," Tatsuya greeted shortly, not bothered/surprised that she knew his name already.
"And you are?" Miyuki turned her head towards the short haired girl.
"I'm Kitayama Shizuku, nice to meet you," she introduced herself in a composed manner, a stark contrast to her nervous friend.
"Nice to meet you," Miyuki greeted her while Tatsuya gave her a nod of acknowledgement.
Shizuku said, "Sorry about earlier, my friend is such a klutz."
Honoka whined, "Shizuku, that's mean!"
Ignoring her she continued, "She's a big fan of yours, Shiba-san and it was love at first sight," a small smile teased her lips.
"Oh my God, Shizuku, stop saying such things!" Honoka cried out with a red face. The guys in their class watched the scene enviously and thought only if there were able to say that so easily like her…
"I'm sorry but have we met before?" Miyuki asked tilting her head to the side as she couldn't recall meeting her until today.
Some of the students swooned at that cute gesture.
"She saw you during practical exam and fell for you," Shizuku answered causing her friend to cry out again.
Tatsuya found this duo quite amusing, specially Shizuku who seemed to be able to say embarrassing things with a straight face.
"Oh, really?" Miyuki was surprised to hear that. Then her eyes moved down involuntarily and she saw dirt on Honoka's clothes which she had got from the fall earlier, "Your clothes!"
"Ah!" she exclaimed.
'It's only the first day and it has already got dirty,' Honoka's face fell but she was surprised to see Miyuki leaning down and before she knew it a quick flash of light came from Miyuki's hand which she held near the dirt on her cloth and in an instant it was gone.
It happened so fast that other than them no one else noticed it. Miyuki placed a finger over her pink lips as if saying to keep it a secret to which she nodded vigorously.
Straightening up Miyuki gave her a smile before going back to her seat as if nothing had happened while Shizuku and Honoka exchanged amazed looks.
Tatsuya was already in his seat. He set his ID card into the terminal and began an information check. He was scrolling through the course regulations, disciplinary regulations and rules concerning the use of facilities to admission associated events, automatic activity guides and the curriculum for the semester.
He skillfully operated the terminal manually while his fingers flew over the keyboard. When he looked up after finishing the task he found three pair of eyes staring at him in which two were gaping and the other one looked surprised yet amazed.
Miyuki's eyes didn't bother him like the other two and thus he asked them, "What's the matter?"
"Yotsuba-san, are you doing the registration manually?" Shizuku asked.
"Yeah, I'm done actually," he responded.
"That was so fast!" Honoka exclaimed.
"It's kinda rare to see someone use keyboard nowadays," Shizuku commented.
"Really? It's faster this way if you are experienced, though it's not that accurate," Tatsuya said matter-of-factly.
As they kept staring at him with admiration, he started to feel embarrassed and asked more to diverge their attention from him, "Don't you guys need to register?"
"Ah, yes!"
Sizuku and Honoka went back to their respected seats while Miyuki smiled at him and said, "You never fail to amaze me, Tatsuya-san."
"Oh, were you impressed, Miyuki-san?" he asked leaning forwards on his desk as the corner of his lips went up.
"Yeah," she admitted still smiling.
When the bell rang she turned around and opened her terminal. As she started her registration, she heard his low voice near her ear, "Let me know if you need any help."
She didn't respond because she knew that he didn't expect any response from her. Registration is a simple task and it didn't need anyone's help but he said that just because he wanted to make her blush. She realized that he had seen her blushing when he was holding her close just a few minutes ago and asked her if she was OK near her ear. And that's why he did it again.
'You are such a tease, Tatsuya-san!'
Before they knew it, lunch time came. Honoka and Shizuku came over.
"Where are you taking your lunch, Shiba-san, Yotsuba-san?" Honoka asked expectantly.
The pair exchanged a look and Miyuki replied, "Actually we are going to the student council. President Saegusa had asked us to go there yesterday during recess."
Honoka's face fell but she recovered quickly when she noted reluctance in Miyuki's voice. Besides she understood that they couldn't refuse president's invitation.
Tatsuya got out of his seat, nodded at them and said, "Let's go, Miyuki-san."
"Yes, see you later, Mitsui-san, Kitayama-san," she followed Tatsuya out of the class.
Student Council Room
Tatsuya and Miyuki stood outside the door of Student Council room. Tatsuya could see nervousness and reluctance in her beautiful face. Well he also didn't want to come but they couldn't refuse the president when she invited them personally.
He took a hold of her hand which surprised her but she didn't pull it back. Miyuki looked at their joined hands - her small one in his large one and then up at him. She could see Tatsuya's expression softening a bit and he gave her hand a light squeeze before letting it go as if reassuring her.
Though it was for a brief moment, the warmth of his hand made her feel warm and she relaxed. It was as if he was telling her that it would be fine.
They introduced themselves through the speaker and asked for permission to enter which they got. When the lock of the door opened they entered.
They saw Mayumi sitting at the end of a long table. She wasn't alone though, three other female students were there as well, among them Tatsuya and Miyuki recognized one person – Watanabe Mari, Chair of Public Moral Committee whom they had seen during entrance ceremony.
Mayumi had a huge smile plastered on her face and Tatsuya really wanted to ask her what caused her such happiness to greet them so eagerly.
As the couple stood side by side Miyuki greeted them gracefully with a bow while Tatsuya gave a small bow of his own.
Tatsuya suppressed his smirk when he saw their overwhelmed faces courtesy to Miyuki's greeting.
Mayumi recovered first and invited them to come and have lunch. The dinner server module amazed them and they quickly chose their lunch.
Miyuki stopped near the table, wondering which seat to take but she didn't need to think long as Tatsuya wordlessly pulled the chair closer to Mayumi and ushered her to take the seat. Nodding her thanks she sat down.
They may have known each other for less than a day but somehow they had managed to develop an understanding between themselves and it amazed them how they understood each other without saying anything.
Tatsuya took the chair next to Miyuki's all the while ignoring the raised brows and pointed looks that his upper classmen were throwing at him.
Tatsuya had a pretty good idea why Mayumi had asked Miyuki to come as he knew that it was First High's tradition to invite the top student to the student council but he didn't know why he was invited.
He may be the 2nd top student but he had no intention of joining the student council or anything. Whatever the reason was, he decided from the start that he would decline.
"Ho… You two seem pretty close," Mari commented with a smirk. She leaned back in her chair while crossing her arms over her chest.
"I heard that they even came to school together," Mayumi added.
"You are quite fast, aren't you?" Mari asked.
"What do you mean by that?" Tatsuya asked back.
"It hasn't been a day and you have already made your move," she remarked.
"I take offence to that. We live pretty close by and I found Miyuki-san standing alone, so I just offered her a lift," Tatsuya defended himself.
At that moment the cover of dinner server opened and the petite timid looking girl got up to bring their foods. Miyuki followed her example and got up as well. It also gave her a moment to cool down her heated face.
While that girl brought her food along with two other trays, Mari took out her own lunch box and placed it on the table. Miyuki took two trays – one for herself and the other one for Tatsuya and made her way towards the table. When Tatsuya saw her carrying two trays together, he quickly got up and took one from her hand earning a grateful look from her and they both placed their trays on the table in front of them.
Their seniors watched them with amusement and Mari again asked, "Are you sure, you aren't interested in her?"
"I never said that I'm not interested," Tatsuya replied. He didn't miss Miyuki's short intake of breathe at his response.
"Oh, so you are?" Mari placed her folded arms on the table and leaned forward, looking very interested.
Tatsuya looked at his fiancée who looked back at him. He could see her cheeks flushing enchantingly and he smiled at that. "Who won't be if it's someone as beautiful as Miyuki-san?"
As they kept staring at each other Mayumi coughed to get their attention. "OK let's not stray any farther. Before starting let me introduce them again. To my side this is our accountant Ichihara Suzune aka Rin-chan."
"Only president calls me that," Suzune quipped dryly.
Mayumi continued as if she didn't hear her, "This is Chair of Public Moral Committee, Watanabe Mari."
Mari didn't say anything and Mayumi introduced the last person sitting at the end of their row, "And this is our secretary Nakajou Azusa aka A-chan."
"President, please don't call me that! I've my position to think of too!" she cried out.
Ignoring her cry of protest Mayumi turned towards them. Azusa earned a sympathetic look from Tatsuya.
Mayumi said, "You guys have already met the vice president Hanzou yesterday who was with me."
As if on cue the door of student council opened and the said guy entered. "Oh, Hanzou-kun is here as well. So these are the members of our student council." Mayumi finished the introduction of the members.
"Hanzou-kun, you know them already, right?" Mayumi asked turning towards the vice president who had come, passed the couple and stood on Mayumi's right side. He gave a curt nod.
Turning towards Miyuki she said, "I hope you can join us in Student Council."
Miyuki hesitated. Under the table Tatsuya put his hand over hers and gave it a squeeze again but this time he didn't move his hand away so quickly.
Squeezing his hand back appreciatively Miyuki replied, "I'll be glad to be a part of the Student Council."
Tatsuya took his hand back after repressing a smile and found Mayumi looking at him. He gave her a questioning look and she said, "Tatsuya-kun, I hope you can also join the Student Council."
"My apologies President but I don't want to," he replied flatly.
"Can you tell me why?" after recovering from her initial shock Mayumi asked. She had never thought that he would flatly refuse her like that.
"Do I need a reason? I just don't want to," his reply sounded borderline arrogant but he really didn't want to be involved with Student Council because he didn't feel like he was up for putting up with Mayumi on a daily basis. Mayumi's face fell at that.
Hattori didn't like Tatsuya from day one for some reason and he had been holding himself in check tightly but he couldn't bear it anymore when he saw Mayumi's sad face. Thus he shouted, "How dare you?"
Except Tatsuya everyone in the room looked surprised at his sudden outburst specially his fellow Student Council members.
"Hanzou-kun?" Mayumi murmured.
"How could you be so rude to the president?" he stared daggers at Tatsuya who looked anything but apologetic for his rude behavior. He even had the gall to look bored at his question.
"I didn't mean to be rude," Tatsuya started, his voice calm, "I just refused something I didn't want to do. If that makes me sound rude, then I'm sorry, President," he said the last part looking at Mayumi.
Tatsuya knew that his response to Mayumi had sounded arrogant and that's why he meant his apology just now though it didn't seem like much of an apology to Hattori.
"Yotsuba Tatsuya, let's have a fight!" Hattori challenged him.
"Huh?"
"Yes, let's have a fight and if I win, you'll give President a proper apology," Hattori said.
The people in the room were all shocked at the sudden term of events.
"I don't want to," Tatsuya turned around uninterested. His personality wasn't cute enough to grab any challenge thrown at him.
"Afraid you will lose?" Hattori snarled.
Tatsuya stood up and faced him. For a split second Tatsuya's cold eyes made Hattori shiver. Tatsuya asked, "Vice president, are you sure you won't regret it?"
At that question Hattori's face became red with fury, "Don't be so conceited!" He was also furious that he felt fear for a split second.
"Very well, let's do it," Tatsuya accepted the challenge.
Mayumi interjected, "As the Student Council President, I authorize the formal mock battle between 2nd Year Class B, Hattori Gyoubu and 1st Year Class A, Yotsuba Tatsuya.
Mari followed after, "On the basis of Student Council President's declaration, as the Chair of Public Moral Committee, I recognize that the match between the two of you as a legitimate extracurricular activity in abidance of the school rules."
