It's been a week since they first met. By the rumors flying around he knows for sure it was her that just transferred into his school. Her name is Megumi and she's all everyone keeps talking about. She is not in his class but from the rumors he finds that she was supposed to be. Or rather, he was supposed to be - if he hadn't failed last year. On the way to his next class he finally spots her briefly in the hallway. She doesn't notice him. Most likely because he was out of Toman uniform, hair gelled and tied up sporting thick glasses unfitting of his delinquent reputation. Somehow the thought of her seeing him in his "nerd" disguise is discomforting. Not because he cared what she thought, but because he wanted to assert that he was on the same level as her.

The beautiful girl he met last weekend - Megumi - is swarmed by people. Not surprising considering the rumors. Some were fawning, some feigning. He could tell having a knack for great intuition who fell into either category. One of the people Baji recognizes trying to befriend her was a problematic girl but he doesn't bother to make himself known or try to warn her. It isn't his problem. He walks behind them - his class just off the hallway they were about to pass - when he overhears the mystery foreign girl asks one of the other girls flocking her, "hey do you know a guy with long black hair? Sharp canines, kind of a smartass - drives a nice bike."

"Um. I'm not sure I know anyone like that." Bullshit. He knows she knows him. They took the same math class last year - the one he failed. He's also sure he had beaten up her brother a couple months back for shit talking. Must run in the family. "A lot of guys commute by bicycle. Do you know if he is a second year?"

"No I meant a motor bike - like a Motorcycle. I'm not sure if he even goes to this school. Him and his friends were wearing a different uniform so I doubt it." He senses some frustration from her though he can't see her face because he is walking behind them. Has she been looking for him for a while now?

"Oh what did it look like? Is he cute? There's this Instagram page with all the hottest guys and what school they attend."

The fuck? Who's running that operation? Are these girls spies or some shit?

"Isn't that kind of stalkerish? Do you really do that over here?" Megumi asks but quiets when she feels an aura of heavy judgement radiating off of the girls. "He was only wearing black pants but one of his friends was also wearing a black button down shirt with gold buttons. It was embroidered with yellow writing down the arms too."

"That sounds like the Tokyo Manji Gang!" A short ginger headed girl shouts out loud.

"What?" Megumi asks in surprise, "Like a real gang? He didn't seem like the type." Well - maybe - now that she thinks back on their first encounter. The boy in question doesn't stay around to eavesdrop on the rest of the conversation. Apart from her being pretty, he wasn't sure what other reason there was for getting involved with her. And from the looks of the company she had already acquainted herself with, he was sure she would be trouble.

The girl Megumi was speaking with stopped abruptly, "shh! I think I just saw him. If it's Baji-San you're talking about - it's definitely bad news. Stay away from him. He's a delinquent."

That warning had come too late, having already caught her interest. As they walked back toward their classroom Megumi ponders the one question she left unanswered. Yes - Baji-san was very cute.

The second week of school Megumi seeks out more information while Baji observes her from afar, purposely avoiding her. She finds out that there is another person in this school connected to this supposed "Tokyo Magic" gang or whatever it was. Matsuno-san is a grade below her. With striking blue eyes and a cute face, the only thing that ruins him is his done up hair that she thinks makes him look like a chicken. The blue-eyed boy is hard pressed to give up any information. Seems like he was fiercely loyal to Baji. It would have been an endearing quality if it hadn't been preventing her from getting what she wanted. Matsuno-san seems comfortable in her presence, unlike many other of the boys that skirt around. So instead of pressing far enough to break his patience she asks him to relay a simple message, "can you tell him he owes me ice cream.. please?" Blue-eyes, eye her suspiciously but he nods in agreement.

Later that day Megumi finds trouble with her newly acquired "friends" after one of them caught wind that she had been looking for Baji. The ginger headed girl and one who tried convincing her that Baji wasn't at this school sneakily followed her into the bathroom to warn her that he already had an admirer. There were two more she hadn't been introduced to yet standing behind them.

Their words were carefully cunning, under the guise of being "helpful" but she knew better. Why else would they call in for back up if not to intimidate her?

"We don't think it's okay that you're going after him considering you just transferred here." One of them says.

The red headed girl adds, "There are plenty of other guys interested in you, I just saw you talking to Chifuyu which you might have not known is his best friend. We'll let this slide if you let Baji go - if you want to switch to Chifuyu we won't mind that either. "

To say she was taken aback was an understatement. These girls who had been welcoming and nice the past week and a half, flipped on her in a matter of hours. What was more upsetting was how much shit they talked about him just last week.

"I don't know what to tell you guys." She could have gotten out of this situation easily but the more she thought about it, the angrier she felt. "If you've recently come to like him, it has nothing to do with me. Being new means nothing either. You've been here with him since the start of the year and nothing came about it. So - if you'll excuse me, I'll be heading back to class." Megumi could feel nervous adrenaline creeping up from the pit of her stomach. She knew she could have gotten off easier if she feigned compliance, but that would make her just as shifty as them. One thing was for sure, this had to come to an end quickly. The bathroom they chose to confront her in was at the end of the hallway. She was secluded and outnumbered.

On her way out the bathroom one of the girl pulls Megumi to the ground by her hair. Screaming on her way down she kicks wildly at the other girls coming towards hers. It's a chaotic and intense 20 seconds but she manages to escape their hold. Kids and teachers hear the commotion and the fight is soon broken up. Megumi sports a small cut on her left eyebrow but the other girls look way worse. Two of the girls are taken to the infirmary having been kicked in the stomach and punched in the nose. Megumi and the other two are taken to the Principals office where a familiar face is already sitting down outside the door. His bronze eyes widen in shock seeing her and the other girls looking so disheveled. Megumi turns her eyes away from him embarrassed, she didn't even know him and yet he was the reason behind the fight. Hopefully he would never find that out.

He gets up when his name is called, eyes locked onto her until he disappears behind the frosted glass door. She can hear the principal and a another staff member yelling at him for knocking over a teachers computer and breaking it. His smooth baritone voice replies a nonchalant apology and the principal sentences him to 2 weeks detention.

The sharply dressed lady comes out behind the door again, calling the group of girls inside. The tight knit possy of punks go in first bowing their head in shame when Baji passes them by. Megumi however takes the chance of glancing his way when her eyes lock onto his as they pass shoulders through the doorway. She hadn't noticed how bright they were or how tall he was (he had been leaning against his bike when they first met.) The door closes with a loud click and the burly sour faced principal begins berating them. Of course she should have known that the group of friends would try to make her out to be the one that instigated the fight. One even had the nerve to fake tears, claiming Megumi started the fight because she was jealous over Baji.

Megumi calmly made her case without telling a single lie. "I don't even know the guy to have feelings for him. They jumped me in the bathroom because of some rumor they probably made up." Fortunately, Principal Sho was a perceptive person - but not a forgiving one. They too were sentenced to two weeks detention. After being forced to call her mother, Megumi walked back to her last class of the day and spent the hour silently fuming.
