GH5 7: Origin Of The Bog-Man.

Connor, Isaac and i rode on 1980s bikes through the forest, heading for the bayou, with Copper sitting in a basket in the front of my bike. Seth was riding his own bike, which was blue. After saying goodbye to Adriana at the mall and returning home to the Victorian house from the mall, Connor asked Chelsea and Adam if he, Seth, Isaac and i could go bike-riding together. After giving us their consent, Adam went downstairs into the basement and got three bikes from the 80s, gave them to me, Isaac and Connor, and then we headed out on to the forest. Adam was a huge fan of the 80s and collected all kinds of it's merchandise, as he loved the vibe and nostalgia it gave off.

"You know this is crazy, right? Emma's behind all of it." Seth said.

"I'm not crazy. There's something to this." Connor said.

"Can't you just tell your Mom and Dad? They'll put an end to all of this." I said.

"No. They won't. They'll just put me back on those pills again." Connor said.

"That might not be a bad idea." Isaac said as we made our way toward the entrance of the bayou.
...

We rode through the bayou, trying to find some source of evidence that would back up the information we'd learned at the mall about the Bog-Man's origin story.

"Do you even know what you're looking for?" Seth asked.

"I'll know it when i see it." Connor answered.

Later, we were now running through the bayou, with Seth, Isaac, Copper and me ahead of Connor. After arriving at the area, we got off our bikes to investigate the place.

"Hey, wait up." Connor said while running after us from behind.

"Dudes, check this out." Seth said as he, the others and i ran up to a white bleating male goat. "What's up, goat?" He said before he and Connor started petting the bleating goat.

"Hey." Came an old male southern-accented voice. We then looked and saw an old man approach us. He long, wild, messy white hair that stopped at his lower-back, a long white beard that went down to his stomach, his eyes were brown, he wore a brown hooded robe that went down to the ground, covering his feet, and he held a long walking-stick in his right hand. "Are you boys lost?"

"No, sir." Connor said.

"Well, the lake is down that way, if-in you're goin' swimmin' or fishin'." The old man said, pointing in a direction.

"Hey, Mister, you ever hear of the Bog-Man?" Seth asked.

The old man just stared at us, as if Seth had just spoken a new language no one had ever heard before.
...

"The Bog-Man? Be careful, kids. We don't use that name around here anymore. As the story goes, R.L. Bogman disposed of the kids' bodies in this here bog. Cops suspected him since the first boy went missing in 1979. Legend says that he died here from his gun-shot wound after escaping the police." Said the old man as he led us to the top of hill where we looked down at a thick, green, churning bog that was the size of a pool. "Or at least that's what the legend says anyway. According to the story, the cops chased him through the bayou to re-capture him after he escaped custody during his transfer to a death-row prison for execution. Then one of the cops shot him and after pursuing him for some time, the cops eventually lost track of him. The missing kids' bodies were never recovered. There was no skin, no bones...not even a tooth. It was like they all disappeared. As for R.L. Bogman...he was nowhere to be found. It was almost like he had vanished off the face of the Earth...like a ghost."

"But if the cops suspected him of the first kid's disappearance, why didn't they just make an arrest then?" Isaac asked.

"Well, they couldn't, there was no evidence linking him to the first disappearance...or any of the others...until Halloween night-1983, when they found one of the missing boy's bicycles in the basement, and the police dogs caught the scent of human remains, during an inventory search." The old man explained.

"So he died here in the bog after escaping the cops on Halloween-1988?" I asked, referring to R.L. Bogman.

"Wanna go down there and see?" The old man asked.

We all shook our heads "No".

"Hahahahaha." The old man laughed. He bent down, picked up a rock in front of him, and stood back up. "Let's see if you can wake him up." He said, handing the rock to Connor, who then shook his head. "Throw it in. The bog will suck it right down."

Connor shook his head again.

Seth took the rock from Connor, blew out a breath of air, and threw it down into the green bog below and we watched as the rock was sucked down into the churning bog.

"Huh. Guess he's not home." Said the old man, referring to the Bog-Man.

I looked at Connor and noticed the serious look on his face as he stared down at the bog below.

"Sir...was it ever estimated that maybe R.L. Bogman could've survived the gun-shot wound?" I asked, looking at the old man.

"Why? Just because the cops never found the body?" The old man asked.

"If you ask me, sir, that body could still be walking around the countryside, targeting his next victim." I said.

"What makes you say that?" The old man asked.

"Because last night, someone was in our house, terrorizing me, my family and their friends. I mean, my Mom called the police, but by the time they got there, the person was gone." Connor explained.

"And you're sure it was the Bog-Man?" The old man asked.

"I'm positive it was the Bog-Man. The house we live in use to belong to him back in 1979 and the 80s." Connor answered. "Ask Keegan, he was there. He saw him in his nightmare and in his bedroom when he woke up. Even Isaac saw him."

"Well...just in my nightmare, not in real-life like Keegan did." Isaac said.

"Yeah, but still." Connor said.

"Is it possible that the Bog-Man is still alive?" I asked.

"You know...just because they didn't find the body...doesn't mean he survived." The old man said.

"And just because they confirmed he was dead without his body, doesn't mean that he is." I said.

"Well, you may be onto somethin' there, young man." The old man said. "Some say in these swamps that most people who go in never come out. But there was little doubt that R.L. Bogman had died here on Halloween night-1988. What happened to the Bog-Man? No one really knows. Some believe he was convicted of another crime and today he is still serving his time in prison. Some believe he died here in the swamp. The life-horror story is still fresh on the minds of the people of Edmonton today, despite the number of years that have passed. And if you should ask them what they believe happened to the Bog-Man...most would say that he's still living here in these swamps...lying in wait...for his next victim."
