GH5 8: A Ghost In The Basement?

Back at the Dale Victorian home, Seth opened the basement door, holding a lit flashlight, and began descending the stairs into the dark underground room, with Connor and i holding lit flashlights as well, with Copper at my side as we both followed Seth. Isaac, meanwhile, was in the living-room with Emma and the adults, as he had chickened out after our encounter with the old man in the bayou of the forest, who told us about the origin story of the Bog-Man. To be honest...i really don't blame him. We were going down to the basement to look for the bodies of the five missing boys R.L. Bogman had killed. If there was any place in a house a person could hide a body or two-or in this case, five-it was the basement.

Seth, Copper and i looked back and noticed that Connor was standing in the basement doorway.

"It's fine. Don't be chicken." Seth said.

"I'm not a chicken. That guy just...freaked me out a little." Connor said.

"Yeah. He's just old. Besides...Keegan, Copper and i are with you." Seth said. "Right, K and C?"

"That's right. And we're not about to let anything happen to you." I said to Copper. "Right Copper?"

Copper barked, agreeing with me.

Seth, Copper and i resumed descending the stairs and Connor followed after us. We soon reached the bottom of the stairs, entering the dark basement, and Connor went over to where the room's only light was and reached up for the long switch to turn it on.

"Stop!" Seth shouted, making Connor stop reaching for the switch. "I've seen this ins movies. It's just gonna explode. He warned. "Come on."

Seth, Connor, Copper and i explored the dark basement, looking for any signs or traces of the bodies.

We then went over to the stuff that was stored away in stacks of boxes. Stuff from the 80s Adam had collected over the years, no doubt. "Man...your Dad's got a lot of junk down here." He said to Connor. We walked over to one of the stacks of boxes that had the top box open and Seth got a toy hand-sword out of it. "What is this?"

"It's one of my Dad's collectables from the 80s. Be careful." Connor said.

Seth put the toy-hand sword back in the box, followed by getting out an old baseball. "So this is where the Bog-Man lives."

"No. He lives over there...in the basement closet." Connor corrected, pointing at a dark area where the basement closet was.

Seth tossed the ball into the air and caught it. "I wanna me him." We resumed exploring the basement.

"Connor...can i ask you something?" I asked.

"Sure, what's up?" Connor said.

"Do you're parents ever come down here?" I asked.

"Sometimes." Connor answered. "Why do you ask?"

"Why haven't they seen the Bog-Man?" I asked.

"Cause he's invisible to grown-ups. Only kids can see him." Connor said.

"This R.L. Bogman dude is probably an old man by now." Seth said.

Connor stopped in his tracks, making us stop in ours. "You guys...look." He said as he looked down at something he was shining his flashlight on.

We looked down at what Connor was shining his flashlight on, revealing it to be two trails of slimy green foot-prints that led to and from somewhere. They looked too big to belong to Emma, Isaac or any of the adults in the house.

"No, that's impossible." Seth said.

We then saw that the two trails of slimy foot-prints led over to and from the basement closet-door.

Seth slowly followed the slimy foot-prints over to the closet as Connor, Copper and i stayed behind and watched. Seth then knocked on the closet-door with the ball he was holding. "Anyone home?" He called. But there was no answer.

We, meanwhile, just kept staring at Seth and the closet-door.

Seth opened the closet-door, revealing to to be a walk-in closet, and he shined his flashlight in it to see if there was anything or anyone inside. But there wasn't. It was completely empty. Except for the slimy foot-prints that led in and out of the closet.

"You guys, let's get out of here." Connor said, now officially creeped out.

Seth looked back at us.

"Please." Connor begged.

Seth turned back to the closet and went inside, following the two trails of foot-prints.

"Wait here." I said before Copper and i followed after Seth

"Don't do it." Connor said.

Copper and i followed Seth into the closet and all three of us stopped in our tracks when we reached the end of the closet. We looked down at the foot-prints and Seth and i stared wide-eyed and in shock, with dropping the baseball and our stomachs dropping like elevators, as we saw that the two trails of foot-prints began and ended...at the wall.

First the nightmares...then the manifestations of them...the unknown intruder in the house...more manifestations...the origin story of the Bog-Man...and now this.

This mystery was truly getting more and more scary by the minute.
