Chapter 12: The Final Battle
Hannah and Rebecca then perked their heads up, sensing a magic burst and they closed their eyes before nodding and the dark-haired mage went up to where the barrier was by herself, looking to see a flare of magic and it was in the shape of a fiery dragon. She nodded. "It's time," she said softly before heading back to the others and looking at them all. "We just got the signal. It's time."
The monsters all stood up and Asgore got on his battle armor, as did Grillby while the others readied their magic. The kids got together and took deep breaths while some of the monsters held the babies to keep them safe.
Rebecca took Papyrus' hand and he squeezed it before their magic mixed and the young woman's cloak became armored with the orange magic of her husband and his battle body had touches of pink and green to it, indicating it had been reinforced with his wife's magic. Sans held his wife's hand while holding Esther, who hugged him, a bit scared, but willing to help out.
Gaster got his extra hands ready and once they were all set, Rebecca led them to the barrier, her staff glowing brightly as she led the way. Hannah stood behind her with River Person beside her and the younger mage took the cloaked being's hand. He gently squeezed her hand and looked at her. "All will be well, little one," he said. "And when this is all over, I'd be more than happy to take you in as my daughter."
She smiled. "Thank you," she said before they faced the barrier, the magic humming as it held strong. Rebecca then turned to face them all and she took a deep breath.
"I need all the human children with the seven traits, including Esther," she said.
The nine children came up to her and she looked at them. "I know this is a lot to ask of you all, but I need you to use your traits and break down the barrier," she said. "I'm going to remove my magic from it."
"But...won't that leave us open to an attack?" Undyne asked.
"No," the dark-haired mage said. "Because as soon as the barrier is gone, we rush out of the mountain and surprise the evil mages. I sense they are getting close."
"They won't be expecting us to break the barrier," Grillby said in realization.
"Bingo," Rebecca said. "Element of surprise."
She then looked at the kids. "Are you all ready?" She asked.
The children nodded and nine hearts floated in front of her, two of determination, one of bravery, one of justice, one of kindness, one of integrity, one of patience, one of perseverence, and the last one with all seven traits. Gathering them up gently with her magic, she faced the barrier with them, holding up her staff high and taking a deep breath.
"My magic has held for long, but now is the time,
I now remove my magic, for our chance to be free,
With love and family is what I fight for,
The evil mages will not win today."
Her magic pulled away from the barrier and with a burst like shattering glass, the barrier broke and to all their surprises, the magic gathered in Rebecca's staff burst out of the opening, flying outwards and it wasn't long before they heard cries of surprise from the evil mages.
"Charge!" Asgore called out.
They ran out and it was a frenzy for a bit as magics clashed, but the evil mages were no match for the monsters and the two mages that were with them, along with the human children and the two adult women who stood by their husbands as the battle raged.
Hannah and Rebecca worked in tandem to keep up shields over their families while shooting out bursts of magic at the evil mages before the blonde-haired mage looked at the dark-haired mage. "Becca, let's show them the Gemini team up," she said.
"I'm with you, sis," the dark-haired mage said.
They crossed their staffs and magic swirled around them before their staffs became joined in an 'X', which they held up before taking each other's free hand, their hands seeming to fuse together before they rose up and charged, flying into the evil mages as a strong wave of magic made the evil mages part and hit their machinery and weapons, destroying it all before the two rose up and then came down fast, slamming into the ground with their staffs and making the Earth shake.
As a result, the evil mages all fell down and the ground began soaking up their magic, which was traveling to the joined staffs. "What's happening?!" One evil mage asked.
"Your attempts to destroy our family is over," Hannah said. "You killed my dad and I really should have no mercy, but my family has taught me that mercy makes me a better person and so, I refuse to be like you."
"That goes for me too," Rebecca said. "You mages will bother us no more."
The evil mages felt their magic drain out of them completely before the magic soaked into the ground, making it roll as the evil mages were carried away to the bottom of the mountain and a forest grew on the mountain and a small village was created too before the two good mages reached high along with the nine children and then threw the magic as hard as they could.
The magic wave made the forest grow thick and impossible to enter while the evil mages felt the magic hit them and their minds were wiped of the knowledge of the monsters and the two mages that fought for them.
By the time the roar of the magic had died off, the monsters looked to see Rebecca and Hannah were standing up and their staffs disconnected before they let go of each other's hands. They stood for a moment before their legs gave out and they fell forward.
"Hannah!" River Person said, running forward and catching her before she hit the ground. "My little one, are you alright?"
She took a few deep breaths and looked up at him. "A bit tired, Father, but unhurt," she admitted.
"My love!" Papyrus said, catching Rebecca and cradling her close to him. "My love, please say something."
She gave a weak chuckle before looking up at him. "I'm okay, hon," she said. "A bit weak, but still alive."
The kids also looked a bit tired and were sitting down on the ground. "Did we win?" David asked.
Hannah nodded softly. "We did," she said.
Rebecca smiled. "The forest is here for our protection and the village is ours," she said. "Only the good mages will know the way in."
"Good," Asgore said. "That will be a good start to us easing our way into the human world."
"And now we'll have someone to stand for us," Muffet said as she held her children.
"Our children will be safe now," Toriel said.
"Thanks to a mage who didn't give up," Sans said, smiling at his sister-in-law, who smiled back.
"And thanks to the family who believed in me," she said before closing her eyes and leaning her head against her husband's shoulder. "For now, I think I speak for everyone when I saw we're all bushed."
"Can't beat around that bush," Sans said jokingly.
"Sans!" Papyrus groaned out.
Toriel chuckled. "I suggest we all rest before going into this magnificent forest," she said.
That was met with agreement as Papyrus picked up Rebecca and carried her bridal style while River Person picked up Hannah like a parent would a small child, holding her protectively as they headed back into the mountain, finally feeling completely free.
They are finally free. :)
