Paige laughed as she walked back to the O'Brien Farm with her new friends. They had filled her in with some of Walter's wildest moments in his childhood and she told them stories of their work with Scorpion.
"So he's like a real life James Bond now yeah?" The younger woman asked "I guess" Paige replied thoughtfully "He did wear a tux once for one of our missions. God he looked hot! But if you were to ask him he'd probably have no idea who James Bond is" The girls all giggled together.
As they entered the field in front of the house a knot appeared in Paige's stomach and she paled as she saw Louise walking towards her. When Louise pulled her into a tight hug she let out a audible breath in relief. "I owe you an apology" Louise whispered in her ear "I just didn't want my boy getting hurt". Paige nodded in understanding "You were worried about Walter. I can't stay upset about that" Paige whispered in return.
Paige felt Louise tighten her grip in response before letting her go. They smiled brightly at each other before Louise greeted the other girls and returned to the kitchen to make everyone tea. Paige knew it would be a while until she would truly forgive Louise for her spiteful words that morning but the older lady didn't need to know that. Whatever had been said to her had been enough- the guilt was written clearly all over her face.
Paige was finishing telling Louise and the girls about the time Scorpion returned a painting to the original owners when Walter walked in the kitchen. He was pleasantly suprised by the easy atmosphere between his mum and Paige.
Paige smiled as soon as she saw him and greeted him with a kiss "Sweetheart I've missed you-you remember..." She began only for Walter to cut her off "Mary and Caiohme. Are you well?" The younger of the two (Caiohme) grinned as she greeted Walter "All the better for seeing you hot stuff. Who'd have known you'd grow into such a dish" Walter looked towards Paige with panic in his eyes. He was used to such comments from people he didn't know but last time he'd seen Caiohme he'd been swimming in the lake when her brother had pulled his swim shorts off. She'd seen way more of him then he'd like to admit.
Mary laughed at the panic Walter was clearly showing on his face "Stop it hun you're scaring the poor lad" she said as she pulled him into a hug "We are good Walt. Glad to see you've managed to keep your eyebrows attached" She laughed. Walter cringed as he thought back to the time one of his childhood experiments failed and he spent a couple of mouths without eyebrows. They all spent a good hour reminiscing before the ladies left. Leaving Walter spluttering when they told Walter they wanted a invitation to their Wedding when ("not if!") Walter and Paige got married.
This led to a even more embarrassing conversation with Louise afterwards, who expressed a desire to have some Grandchildren to spoil "You're in your 30s now Walter and your sperm isn't getting any younger" She said. "Mum!!" Walter cried out blushing furiously with embarrassment while Paige giggled. He took a moment to collect himself "We've just started our relationship Mother. While I'd like nothing more than to Marry Paige and have children with her but I'd imagine it's a bit too early in the relationship to be discussing these things. Besides Ralph has been like a Son to me for years".
Paige felt her eyes well up at Walter's declaration. A few years before he'd not believed in love and though she knew he was Married to Happy (what an awkwad conversation that was) he hadn't seen the value of Marriage outside its ability to keep him in the country. Now here he was not only expressing his love for her and her son but also a desire to have children and Marry her.
Though until the moment she broke up with him Tim had been caring and somewhat loving towards her and Ralph now she couldn't see what she ever saw in Tim when she had Walter in front of her all along. She kissed his cheeks a few times and cuddled into him. For how bad last night and this morning with the exception of the birth of her Son Paige had never been more happier then this moment. "I love you" she whispered in his ear. Walter smiled and turned his head to give a sweet kiss on the lips. Walter dropped his American accent as he brought his lips to Paige's ear and whispered to her "A chomhlánaíonn tú dom". Paige had no idea what he had said, but she could feel his love for her.
"If you want to break out your Irish accent and some Gaelic in the bedroom I wouldn't be opposed" Paige whispered seductively when they were finally alone, before nipping Walter's ear gently with her teeth. "Noted" Walter gulped feeling slightly overwhelmed now he had Paige all to himself. Their usual sessions were one thing but now they were officially an item he kept waiting for the other shoe to drop or to suddenly wake up and realise it was all a dream.
Paige stroked her hand down Walter's body. She wasn't in a particular rush to do anything just yet. She had all night to enjoy her curly haired genius after all. She laid on her back and looked around the room. The last time she'd been in Walter's childhood bedroom she'd been too preoccupied by what they'd been doing to take note of the surroundings. After nearly being caught in a comprising position there by his mum the last time Walter had told her at the time that they wouldn't be returning there together. She was glad he had been proven wrong.
His bedroom fascinated her. The blueprints he'd been arrested for were hung proudly on his wall and his desk was full of random trinkets that seemed to have no scientific value but had appeared well loved. So much different from the man that kept his trinkets hidden for fear of people judging him, seeing it as stupid or a weakness.
She stood up to inspect a battered looking teddy-bear. Walter didn't even open his eyes from where he lay on the bed but seemed to know exactly what she was holding regardless "Baldrick" he said out of the blue- earning a "huh?" from Paige in reply. "The bear. I know you want to know about it. He's older then me but he wasn't named until just before Megan and I left for America. We used to watch Black Adder together on the BBC- when we were packing she asked me if I was taking Baldrick with me. The name seemed to fit."
Paige hugged the Teddy to her chest and laid down next to him "I thought you didn't watch TV?" Paige replied smiling, Walter wasn't usually one for discussing the past. "I watched a bit- Casualty fascinated me for a bit. I considered becoming a doctor for a while- to help Megan you know. But when one of the Doctors started taking cocaine mum wouldn't let me watch it anymore. She didn't want me to get any ideas. Funny looking back he looked a bit like me" Walter said thoughtfully. "Sexy then" Paige smirked before kissing his neck. Walter snorted in amusement "If you say so".
The bear fell to the floor as the two lovers began to enjoy each other. Careful to make as little sound as possible.
