The Garage
"Happy you've got to come see this!!" Toby shouted across the room. "You will just die laughing". Happy slammed her hammer down on her workbench "Toby I swear to god this better not be another goat video" she threatened.
Toby grinned madly "No but I stand by that joke...behold Mr no-fraternising-with-work-collegues, our illustrious leader Walter O'Brien looking all sexed up over the front page of a national newspaper at an event he was meant to be networking at with our dear liason." Happy let out a rare grin "Not good" she replied, but her face said otherwise.
"Can you imagine what ol' Timbo is going to think?" Toby asked. "Sod it. We barely know him. Walt and the Waitress however been pining for each other since they met. Where'd you get it from anyway?" Happy asked "Sly sent it to me. There's some lovely pictures of him and Paige standing and dancing as well but honestly I think this one deserves to be framed." Happy rolled her eyes "Don't be ridiculous Fungus she replied" Tobys smiled dropped "Canvas is much better"
Toby laughed. He loves the way Happy thinks
The Loft
Ralph lay on Walter's bed smiling. He was sure Walter wouldn't mind. Toby had just sent him a picture of his Mum and Walter dancing at some fancy event. They had a look in their eyes Ralph had seen on them give each other many times but never both at the same time.
Though he'd warmed to Tim over time he was glad he appeared to be out of the picture now. As weird as it sounded from the moment he met Walter he knew he wanted the older Genius to be his Dad. He had made it as clear as he could (without outright saying it) to the both his mum and Walter over the past year how happy he was with Walter practically raising him alongside his mum.
He climbed out of bed spotting the diffuser Walter had taken to using in the loft. Filling it with lavender essential oil and water he turned it on and climbed into the bed. The smell of his mother and his (hopefully soon!) Stepfather lulling him into a peaceful sleep.
When Toby found him an hour later he registered the smell of the lavender and the smiling young boy curled round and breathing in Walter's favourite pillow. He smiled at the sleeping Genius and ruffled his hair before returning downstairs. He didn't mind camping in the Garage's Airstream for one night.
Fennellys of Callan
"I can't believe your mum put us in separate bedrooms" Paige laughed before sipping at her coffee. "Well we have been at it like rabbits" Walter replied blushing "I think she's afraid of what would happen if you were to get pregnant before we were married. I believe if she had her way we'd be down the aisle before the end of the week."
Paige nodded her head in agreement "Well we've not exsactly been careful" she said. "But that ship sailed many years ago when I had Ralph. Speaking of which have you spoken to him today?" Walter nodded in response "Yes he sent us both a hi five but I'm not sure what for, and said that Happy posted your replacement phone priority yesterday. He'll video call us when he gets back from night school this evening." Walter replied. Paige smiled, she missed her baby. She was sure he'd be happy when she revealed her new relationship- he was more blatant then her mother.
"Hypothetically if I were to express a desire to Marry you would you be agreeable?" Walter asked wringing his hands nervously. "You want to get Married?" Paige asked suprised. "But you're still Married to Happy". "I know" Walter replied pulling at his collar nervously as he stood up "I don't mean right away and I'll have to partition the church for an annulment but..." he pushed in his seat, walked round to her chair and did something Paige did not exspect.
He got down on one knee
and pulled out a small velvet box
"It's er not a engagement ring." He said opening the box and showing her. "It's a Claddagh- a traditional Irish promise ring symbolising love, loyalty, friendship and of a couples stability and partnership. This has been passed down the O'Brien family for the past hundred years. It's a promise of my intention to ask you to be my Wife when the time is right."
Paige hadn't moved. Her eyes wide with shock. Walter brought his other knee down. His eyes felt glassy with tears that were threatening to fall 'Stupid. Stupid. It's too soon.' He thought mentally berating himself. He looked to the floor in shame-
He didn't see Paige dive towards him knocking into the chairs behind him.
She captured the suprised Genius's lips in a hungry kiss, before pulling him up to stand, hugging him tightly then holding out her hand excitedly for him to slide the ring on her finger.
"Thank the lord!" A old woman nearby exclaimed to the couple "My heart was in my throat! Was yours Roisin?" She asked turning to an older woman next to her who nodded. 'Your throat???' Walter thought to himself 'I was about to pass out!!'
"I know you didn't ask but I got some pictures- I know your Ma would like to see them" the woman passed over her phone to Walter who Bluetoothed them over to himself. "Thank you" he said sincerely (although he was getting concerned about the amount of secret pictures people had taken of him recently) "Mum will really appreciate this Aoife" he grinned. The old lady smiled happily in return, While Paige turned to Walter in shock
"Is there no one here you don't know??" She asked in suprise
A/N oh I'm so happy! As always please review and let me know what you think. How do you think their family and friends are going to respond? What will happen when Tim finds out?So much love for you all xxx
