Again, I don't own the characters. I hope you enjoy the second chapter.

Duty and no Fear.

The now 65-year-old Booth began to run towards the sound. It seems to be the house or was it the backyard. Moving as fast as he could. He arrived at the closed front door. Why was it closed? He opens the door tentatively to see fear and defiance etched in the eyes of those in front of him. There is a man threatening, a man he remembered; this man had once killed innocent children, had killed whole families but had pretended to be a family man. "Bones and I put him away!" he whispered. "How is he here? Booth continued to murmur.

Slowly, he began to speak to the man with the gun,

"Now, let's talk."

"You really don't want to do anything."

"You just got out of prison; this would ruin everything."

The man in front of him replied, "You ruined everything; I have no family. They have changed their names. I have no children, no wife, no home!"

"It is all your fault, Booth!

Bang bang!

Within a second, the shots, Brennan held the statue which Booth had always hated, smash the intruder's head.

But no! Booth was shot, defending his family, his home. The family had their phones out in immediate panic.

"Special Agent Christine Booth, Agent Seeley Booth has been shot in his home. Come quickly, Like immediately! Like Now! "

And Hank, "911? shooting, FBI agent has been shot! He is my father!"

Brennan, "Director Smith, Booths been shot. Send help, NOW!"

Within moments, the quiet road with ablaze with lights. The local Leos, FBI and an older man with a limp from the CIA, Danny, Booth's friend from his time in the Rangers. The shooter was arrested pulled to his feet; as he did so, he spits in the direction of the sprawled Sealy Joseph Booth, who laid in a puddle of his own blood. Everything was a haze and confused except for the unexpected primal cry, a yell so pained, so passionate, so uncontrolled. It came from one Dr. Temperance Brennan. Before she collapsed in the arms of her family.

The next couple of hours went in a blur; the children were on their phones. Questions were being asked, no answers were coming. "Who was the perp?" "Why did he hate their family so much and most especially Dad?"

Christine looked like a female Sealy Booth in the hospital waiting room, and unexpected LEO walked up to her blindsided to give her a hug; he ended up on his back with her service revolver in his face.

After this run-in, she kept repeating, – – "People are going to pay!" – –

Dr. Temperance Brennan - mother, partner and Doctor sat in the corner inconsolable.

She didn't know what to think.

He was most likely dead.

He saved them again.

How was she going to live? Were they not partners? Didn't he promise never to abandon me? Their children needed their parents! "These children need their father!"

Their mother needed to keep their lives on track, but how about her life? Her life was over! What would she do? She would resign everything, stop writing, no more lab work…

Doctor Morton came out and confirmed her worst nightmares. Booth was dead!
