Blaine is back in the dorm again, now drinking profusely, gulping each cup for every time he hears all the slurs and bruises his dad gave him as a Christmas present. His peers, including David, have left for their home to celebrate the holiday season and Blaine decides to stay at Dalton again. Every gulp of the drink makes me forget the slap and the thrashing, he got right in front of his mom, his mom trying to push him from his dad and his walking away outside in a rage.
Blaine and Pam get a cab to drive to their house. They bid goodbye to the Family with whom they spent their night and head towards their house, trying to reach before his dad comes. Blaine decides to confess the truth to Jane and he pulls his phone for a sudden change of plan. He calls Jane to arrange for a meet at Lima Park and thank his lucky stars! she is near that area, that day. Blaine's heart races like a racing car. He keeps drinking water to calm himself and he feels his mom's hand on his shoulder in a gesture of support. Blaine gets down from the cab and walks towards the park.
Jane is waiting there, sitting and scrolling her phone. "Hey, Jane," Blaine calls her. She looks up and throws herself on Blaine, putting Blaine into an awkward hug.
"Do you remember that I exist just now? Have you brought my Christmas gift?" Jane is chuckling as she says.
"Uh...no. I remember you always. Look, Jane, I-I came here to talk and settle a matter with you. I don't know how to talk about this." Blaine is getting awkward and is searching for the right words not to hurt her. He holds her hand and continues, "I-I am sorry for the w-way I behaved on Halloween. I like you, Jane. You are sweet and gorgeous and I don't deserve you, Jane."
Jane blushes for a while but soon she realizes where this is going." Blaine, cut to the chase.", she says.
"Um...I didn't want to hurt you. But, I never thought of you as my girlfriend. I had to take you as my girlfriend because of my dad." Jane's eyes are watering right now. She knew this would be coming, but she didn't expect it to be so soon. " I am seeing a boy named Kurt, Jane. I love him. He is the love of my life. I-I am sorry, Jane. I shouldn't have lied to you. I-I..."
Blaine is cut by Jane at this point. She hugs him warmly," I know this would be coming Blaine, honestly. I thought you were cheating on me with another girl, but I didn't think It was a boy. Whatever it is, Blaine, I am happy that You found your man." Blaine has never seen her like this. He always thought of her as a spoilt brat-spoilt by her fortunes and pride.
"So, are you gonna tell anybody that I broke up with you? That I'm gay?"
"Oh no. I don't believe in outing you. Your secret will be safe in my chest." Blaine feels guilty about cheating on this girl, who has a nice heart in her.
"Why didn't you tell me before? I would have readily helped you, Blaine."
Blaine looks down, not wanting to face her, "I am a coward. I don't dare to speak up. I didn't know how you would take."
"Look, Blaine. You are not a coward. You, you just needed some time, Blaine. I always know you thought of me as a spoilt brat, but deep inside, I have the fear of not speaking up for myself much time and I regret it, Blaine. If you want something, ask for it. Do not hesitate. " Jane pats Blaine's shoulder and gives him one last peck on his cheek." I will miss you, Blaine. But, we will continue as friends, for sure. Call me if you need help. And don't forget to invite me to your wedding!" Blaine chuckles on hearing Jane.
"Oh, I missed your insanity! You are the best." Blaine's eyes are filled with happy tears. One problem is solved. She hugs him one more time before he leaves.
His mom knows it was a successful talk as she sees Blaine's face glow in happiness.
Little did they know that the trouble was coming on their way by the same person who just assured of his secret's safety in the park.
His dad is sitting there on his usual comfy single couch. He sees him, but says nothing- so disciplined, isn't it? Pam and Blaine go to the kitchen to make their family traditional dinner. It's evening already and they don't want to piss off Michael more.
3 hours of referring cookbooks, experimenting and finally cooking come to an end, as they set the table for their dinner or 'their execution altar.'
Blaine gulps another glass as he remembers the Christmas tragedy. He remembers as if it is happening right before his eyes, right now. The rage that his dad was trying to hide, the subtle, elegant start of the conversation that was going to be a disaster, every minute when the conversation was becoming heated.
Michael: Soo, did you do what I asked you to do?
Blaine:Umm..w-what dad?
Michael:How is Jane?
Blaine has a suspicion that his dad knew something.
Blaine: Umm..totally fine.
Michael: So, you should have brought her here. Too bad, you didn't bring. Wait, I have her number, I'll call her.
Blaine: Oh dad, no. Don't call her. Why should we disturb her?
Michael: Yeah, why should we disturb her? She should be busy searching for a new boyfriend.
Blaine exactly knew what is happening. Jane would have told his dad about Blaine. He doesn't know if he is outted yet and that is terrifying him.
Blaine: Umm..sorry?
Michael:Don't you fucking lie to me, bastard.
Before Blaine could get every word from his dad's mouth, his cheek starts to burn like hell. Michael has slapped Blaine right in front of his mom that's the first time his mom has seen him getting beaten. Michael pushes Blaine out of his chair. Blaine lies on the floor, Michael takes the chair and hit him. In the chaos of hearing all swear words, Michael gets aggressive more and more and starts to throw plates at him. Luckily, he doesn't get any cuts. His mom tries to push him away, but she eventually falls to the floor. Blaine tries to get up, but Michael pulls him by his collar. Blaine doubts if he knew he is gay.
Michael: I am more humiliated now. All the fortunes and properties will go out of my hands.
He throws Blaine on the floor and sits on the chair, in a rage.
Blaine manages to get up and run towards the door and starts his car as he sees Michael chasing him. It is a close call for him.
Blaine's visit to a bar in Westerville becomes frequent and his guitar is his new accompanist. Every day, he will sing a sad, heartbreaking song along with recommendations and Blaine will get a few drinks as tips. On December 30, After finishing his usual routines of singing, he feels his phone buzzing. The screen lit up with Kurt's message-
"Hey, Blaine. My glee club friends are holding a new year party and We are invited. I will come to pick you up at 7 tomorrow. Be ready :)"
Blaine smiles, maybe even blushes. This is a text from the only person other than his mom, on whom he has hope of a better future.
It's December 29 and it is cold outside. Kurt is in his room, designing his outfit for the New Year party. His thin body can't handle the bitter winter like others and he has to throw extra clothes on himself, almost looking like baggage. Finn comes in, hastily.
"Kurt, can you lend me your lappy for some time?"
Kurt throws a death stare at Finn as if he asked for his life.
"My laptop isn't working. There is a school assignment that I have to submit tomorrow. Please?"
Kurt nods reluctantly and points towards the Lappy.
Finn takes it to his room to surf for some pictures. Kurt has opened the history page and he has forgotten to close it. Finn takes a glance unintentionally and he is quite confused.
Why is Kurt searching for rehab centres and therapy centres? is the question that runs in Finn's mind now.
Blaine's been chewing nearly 6 chewing gums to cover up the alcohol smell. He's been waiting on a front chair, with all necessary clothings-jerkins, scarves, boots. A familiar honking sound is heard-Kurt has arrived. Blaine gets up, runs and gets into the car. Kurt smiles warmly, placing his soft hand on Blaine's. He can feel the comforting warmth from his hand and this is something that he needs.
Kurt can smell alcohol clearly and he is feeling nauseous. He just wants to help Blaine.
"Blaine, I think you have to think of reducing your alcohol consumption."
"Is it bothering you?" Blaine snaps. He immediately regrets it.
"I'm sorry Kurt. I didn't mean to be rude. Don't ask about that."
Kurt looks at him in concern," I am ready to help you, Blaine. We're friends, you know that."
"I know, Kurt. I will ask you if I need it. I promise." Blaine smiles, but on the inside, he really needs to ask for help- help to open his heart out to Kurt.
Kurt pulls up at Sam's house. It isn't far from Mercedes's, so the path seems familiar. The house is already trembling with all the music and people. Kurt rings the doorbell and is received by Tina.
"Come in, Kurt! Oh, I've seen you somewhere-wait, Are you from the Warblers?"
"Yeah, hi, I'm Blaine Anderson!"
Tina pulls Kurt's hand and drags him inside. Blaine is looked at as a rival team member as he enters, but as he starts interacting, almost everybody loves him instantly. He makes some quick friends. The party is blowing up and everybody is going crazy. Kurt decides not to get drunk. Blaine-of course,he drinks.
"Hey,Hey,hey. We all know Blaine is an amazing singer from the show choir competition. And so, he is going to show his talent again, right here," Sam says as he leans on, putting his hand around Blaine's neck in a friendly gesture.
Blaine hesitates first ,but cheers are blowing in the air,as everyone sits in a circle. Kurt is sitting in the opposite, right across the circle. Sam pushes his guitar into Blaine's hand and Blaine tunes in.
You think I'm pretty
Without any make-up on
You think I'm funny
When I tell the punchline wrong
I know you get me
So I let my walls come down, down
Kurt is turning around and seeing ,if Blaine is singing to somebody else, because he notices Blaine's eyes fixed on him, smiling and feeling.
Before you met me
I was alright
But things were kinda heavy
You brought me to life
Now every February
You'll be my Valentine, Valentine
Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance until we die
You and I, we'll be young forever
You make me feel
Like I'm livin'
A teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
Blaine looks at Kurt with love in his eyes. He is absolutely looking gorgeous and he gets lost in Kurt's glasz eyes. It will be a dream if he is his valentine.
My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now, baby, I believe
This is real
So take a chance and don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
We drove to Cali
And got drunk on the beach
Got a motel
And built a fort out of sheets
I finally found you
My missing puzzle piece
I'm complete
By this point, Mercedes figures out who is Blaine sing to-it is to her best friend, her white boy. She is happy inside that Kurt is finally getting someone whom he can trust and love.
Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance until we die
You and I, we'll be young forever
You make me feel
Like I'm livin'
A teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now, baby, I believe
This is real
So take a chance and don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
Blaine can't believe it. He has his 'boy'friend, sitting straight across, staring at him as he sings. He tears up a little bit, to everyone's surprise, but they enjoy his singing.
I get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
You make me feel
Like I'm livin'
A teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back, no
My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now, baby, I believe
This is real
So take a chance and don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
I get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
(tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight)
Applause, cheers and hugs shower on Blaine. But more than that, Kurt watching him singing his heart is the biggest gift he received that night.
Later that night, Kurt decides to leave soon, cause his dad is texting him.
"It's okay. Just pick me up tomorrow morning. I would like to stay here today."
"Looks like someone has got new friends, so he forgot his old friend."
Blaine and Kurt chuckle together. Blaine holds Kurt's hands," I will never say goodbye to you, Kurt." It melts Kurt's heart and leaves him with an 'aww' impression.
"Alright, have fun, Blaine. And, don't drink too much." Kurt warns. Blaine gives a thumbs up and sees Kurt leaving after he bids goodbye to his friends.
Blaine wakes up with a severe startle. He doesn't know what caused him to wake up, He has a hangover. Rubbing his eyes and forehead, he scans around the room for the source of the noise.
He finds his phone buzzing, under the cushion on which he was sleeping. It is from Kurt's phone.
"Hey, Kurt! I am gett-"
A voice interrupts, but it's not Kurt's.
"Hello, Blaine? Can you come to St. Rita's hospital?"
The voice is panicking.
" Why Mr Hummel? Is anything wrong?"
a minute of silence prevails.
" Hello? Mr Hummel?"
"Kurt's in hospital, Blaine."
