Danny sat watching Sam on the monitor. It had been a week and Sam was finally able to be unstrapped from the medical bed. She was being kept in a locked room under surveillance. Sam was civil and somewhat normal with everyone except Danny. It was like another person was in control if Danny was brought up though. She would say that he's a monster and she would lash out saying he can't be trusted.
The first person sent in to talk to her was Tucker. She smiled at him and Sam would talk about missing being outside. He would talk about his technology and they would watch videos on his phone. She asked if she could have a sketch pad and she would draw images from her nightmares. Besides saying they were coming from her nightmares, she wouldn't specify what they were. The one image that bothered Danny was a demonized version of himself as Danny Phantom flying towards the viewer with these giant claw-like hands.
Valerie was the next person to attempt to spend time with Sam. Sam told her she was open up to Valerie about the abuse she received in captivity if she could spare with her. Tucker and Valerie would remove the objects from the room. After that, Sam and Valerie would spare for an hour or two. Sam would continue to spare with Valerie even she started to cry as described the abuse she received. She wouldn't say Danny's name, but she would refer to Danny as he or him or his.
The one day after sparing Sam lay on the floor and motioned Valerie to do the same. "You know everything took the turn for the worst when Vlad found Luna transporting myself as an illusion to "him" to warn "him" about the robots. I told Vlad that I was telling "him" to stop looking for me. Vlad felt he couldn't trust me until "he" was eliminated. After that Luna was forced into doing Vlad's dirty work. Around the clock, he would inject me with a highjacking serum that was a red liquid. If I fought Vlad, he would beat me. Once the injection was complete I would feel like my body was on fire. My life would flash before my eyes. Each time one memory change with "him" in it. It was like the memory was edited and glossed over. Looking back I see Vlad was forcing Luna to change my memories to create fear and rage against "him". It was a rinse and repeat cycle until Vlad was tipped off that you were coming for me. He moved Luna into another location after he had me hypnotize to attack "him" upon first sight. He injected me with Ecto DNA to make me strong enough to do the job. The Ecto DNA almost killed me I imagine you can tell. The memories are becoming more clear as to which ones are real and which ones are artificial. Unfortunately, I have no good memory of "him", but I feel like I must have loved "him" at one point" she said.
"Sam, that's extremely awful. I wish you never had to experience that. The sexual abuse was bad before, but what Vlad did to you after the fact was a robbery. We can't find Vlad anywhere we search. I think Vlad is hoping that you will complete the mission" Valerie said sitting up. "I just want to go back to school and for everything to be back to normal. To be able to say "his" name and to feel the way I felt in my journals. I loved "him" from what I read in my handwriting, but if I saw "his" name I become enraged and I can't trust myself. I wish someone could enter my mind and conquer these demons for me. I have to work through this for myself and… Danny" she said avoiding looking at Valerie in return not knowing she was looking at the camera.
Danny knew he couldn't let Sam fight this alone. He needed to find a solution to his problem and fast. Sam couldn't live in a room locked away for the rest of her life. Even if that meant a life without him. Walking away from the monitor he knew he had to track down a ghostly enemy for help. He wasn't the worst of the worst, but he didn't want to allow him to gain more power. He transformed and flew into the ghost zone without anyone noticing.
Danny thought it would be easier to find his henchmen than the ghost himself. Out of nowhere, he appeared. He stood over 9 feet tall with his body looking like the night sky. His oval shape head with a point at the bottom, crowned with two curved purple goat-like horns on each side of his head turned to the side. His red eyes were staring down at the halfa. His slightly curved hairline scar along the side of his face, going through his right eye. He smirking showing his fangs as if he was expecting the halfa. He touched his small goatee and floated around Danny like an octopus with his tentacles moving all around.
"Hello, ghost boy who dreams of the Goth Girl. I assumed you would seek me out once I heard of the nightmare Plasmius has caused your girlfriend. It's the talk of the ghost zone how Plasmius turned her into the ultimate weapon to defeat you. You can't even come near her without her trying to kill you. It's a clever concept. To use the women of your dreams to become your worst nightmare" said Nocturn.
"I hate to admit, but I need your help Nocturn. I can't get near Sam without her attacking me and I don't want to hurt her. I need you to put her in sleep induction and allow me to slip into her mind to see if I can help defeat the brainwashing Plasmius put on her. It's a win-win for both of us, Sam will hopefully return to her normal self and you will gain the energy from the sleep induction helmet. Just don't abuse her with that helmet while you collect the energy" Danny proposed.
"Hhhhmmm very tempting indeed…I can't deny a good harvest' for energy. I will help you with one condition, the other ghosts are not to know I helped you. I am no daydream, I will forever be everyone's nightmare" he said stopping in front of Danny to shake upon their agreement. "Anything to get Sam back," Danny said. With that, they flew to the portal.
Valerie walked into Sam's room with Nocturn's helmet and Sam instantly raised her eyebrow. "Are you willing to try something crazy?" Valerie said raising the helmet. "At this time, I am willing to try anything. Question though. Is that Nocturn's helmet" Sam asked. "I think you know the answer to that. Use the bathroom and then get comfortable in bed. Let me know when you're ready" Valerie instructed.
Once Sam got situated and fell asleep, Nocturn placed the helmet on her head and placed Sam in a deep sleep. "The girl is in a deep sleep and you should be able to enter. Good luck Ghost Boy" Nocturn said. "Danny, you got this man" Tucker reassure him. With that Danny flew in, not knowing what to expect.
Danny was surrounded by fog and could barely see a foot in front of him. "You shouldn't have come here, Danny. You should turn back now if you know what's good for you" Sam said. "Where are you Sam" Danny yelled. He turns to find a 14-year-old version of goth Sam, but instead of the purple and green accents, it is replaced with black. "I warned you to leave and this will be your last chance. She will find you. If you stay, be prepared" she said, and then she was gone.
Danny started working through the fog and entered into Sam's subconscious. It was like an art gallery in sense with multiple displays, but instead of artwork, it was videos of her life. The videos were ones that influence her actions and feelings. Danny noticed any of the memory of him was altered. He was either rude and or abusive when the original memory was "lovebird" type.
"What did Vlad do to you, Sam," he asked himself. As he continue he saw exactly what Vlad did to her. A rinse and repeat torture cycle for not choosing him. If she fought the torture he would whip her with mental tassels, attempt to drown her, electrocute her, and more. At the end of the gallery was a woman watching innocent memory that wasn't touched.
It was a Sam before the kidnapping. Her hair was done in a wavy bun braid updo with curled hair wisps around her face. The soft curls and braids fold into each other for a mix between soft and romantic. Her makeup was done in a romantic glam. She wore a white versatile v neckline henley style long sleeve shirt with a red pleated fluid wrap-style a-line skirt. With five gold-tone rings featuring black and clear rhinestone detailing amongst her fingers. The engagement ring from Vlad was gone. She wore an open toe black T-strap stiletto heels with buckle closure.
She spoke to him as speaking to Danny like an art admirer. "This piece is my favorite. Unfortunately, everything similar to this piece has been rendered to fit another cause. Somehow they missed this one. So instead of watching the others, I just stay watch this one" she said. She turns to look at him "At her core, she still does love you, Danny. You can get her back, but staying here in the subconscious won't help her. I don't blame you for wanting to watch this memory though". Danny didn't comment as he watched the memory from this past fall.
Sam insisted to help Danny rake the leaves at his house. They got them into one giant pile. "Why did you insist on helping me after your cheer competition," he asked her as she did her last swipe of leaves into the pile. "Well, you insisted on coming to my competition an hour away in addition to the competition itself, and that put you behind on your chores. Plus I haven't gotten much one on one time with you. Especially since everyone is in my face about my birthday party. I hate parties like these. I rather have Tucker, Valerie, you, and I go do something" she said smiling at him. Unexpectedly Sam pushed him into a giant pile of leaves. She was laughing at him to the point she had tears in her eyes. "You think you're going to get away with that," he said getting up allowing her to get a head start. He caught her around the yard as they both laughed. She was pushing him back into the pile and he took her down with him. She landed on top of him with leaves flying all around them. They leaned closer to each other. Danny pulled back and pulled a leaf out of Sam's hair. "We should probably finish up soon. It's starting to get dark out and I didn't think to bring a change of outfit for after the competition. Thanks for letting me borrow your jacket by the way" she said sitting up a bit on top of Danny.
"Wow, guys! Are you becoming expeditions? The cowgirl position is a good choice. Do I need to leave and come back" Tucker said poking fun at his two lovebirds. The subconscious Sam turned to Danny and said "If you can defeat her, your Sam will return and hopefully these subconscious memories will restore themselves". She told him a direction to head and he vowed to her that he won't stop until she returns to her normal self. He flew around until the fog cleared. It was a giant arena and all the lights turned on.
Danny sensed something flying towards him and was barely able to turn intangible before an arrow almost struck him. He heard another arrow being drawn and in her evil voice "come out, come out wherever you are. You came all this way and decided to hide from me. My feelings are hurt" she said. He became visible and was able to dodge the next arrow. He flew in the direction the arrow appeared. He was instantly tackled by him making him drop to the ground. She wore an all-black jumpsuit with matching boots and gloves.
"Sam, I am not here to fight you. I am here to help you. I know what Vlad has done to you and I don't care. We can work through this" he said trying to stop her from stabbing him with a knife. "You're the monster who caused all my pain and suffering," she said performing an around house kick to him. Danny was able to knock the knife out of her hand. This fight continued for almost an hour. He was getting exhausted and she was kicking his ass literally. He wasn't willing to use his ghost abilities on her intent to harm her. His body forced him to transform back into his human form.
He tumbled to the ground something fell out of his pocket that caught her eye. She walked over to it and picked it up. "Why do you have this" she shouted at him. "I have carried in my pocket since the day you left in my coat pocket while racking leaves. I wanted to give you the ring when I asked you to be my girlfriend. I had you carry since freshman year since my father thought we were dating and I was stupidly chasing after Valerie" he said trying to get up off the ground with blood coming back down his face from a cut Sam caused while fighting him.

Vlad told me you only bring me pain and misery" she said turning away from him. "Why would I fight to save you if I didn't love you," he asked putting his hand on her shoulder. She turned to him with tears rolling down her face. "You love me," she asked looking him in the eyes. "I love you, Sam," he said.
Like a giant tidal wave, Danny was ejected from Sam's mind. Everyone gasps, except Nocturn, as Danny came crashing back into the room. Jazz and his mother rushed over to him in horror to see how badly was beaten and bruised. Nocturn and his helmet were gone as Danny rushed over to Sam's body. Sam gasped for air upon waking up as she had risen from the dead. She turned to look at Danny and she gently placed her right hand on his face. "I love you too Danny," she said quietly. He pulled her into a passionate kiss. His Sam was back in control.
Dani cleared her throat to remind the couple that they weren't the only people in the room. They broke apart and Sam stood up from the bed. "What the hell happened to you," Tucker asked. Valerie replied, "Sam kicked his ass in her head from what it looks like". "My highjacked self did it to him. Unfortunately with all the doses of the high jacking serum, the brainwashing, and beatings performed by Vlad had me want to kill "the monster" known as Danny Phantom" Sam spoke rubbing the back of her neck.
"Once Vlad finds out I wasn't able to finish him, he will bring his army to us. While in captivity I found out the ex-agents of the guys in white and some of the ghosts are willing to stand behind Vlad. Sadly, Vlad does have some good ghosts forced to work for him including my friend Luna. We'll need a full team of our own to take Vlad down" Sam said.
"Do you have any idea of when they plan on coming Sam?" Jack asked. "No, but Vlad will send a calling card guarantee. He wants this to be his ultimate revenge upon the entire Fenton family and anyone who stands with them" Sam responded. "So what do we do in the meantime," Tucker asked. "Train, line up an army of our own, and try to return to our normal life's in the meantime," Valerie said.
Later that evening Danny found Sam standing on the rooftop staring out into the distance past the ghost shield. He just watched her black hair blow around her face. "You know it's considered rude to stare" she commented. He walked over to her and he reached down to grab her gloved hand. "I would ask if you had any questions about my captivity, but I believe you know everything from watching me on the monitors and going inside my head. Besides meeting Luna, I don't think there was one pleasant thing about that whole experience...I can't believe you asked Nocturn to help you and that he was willing to help. Maybe you need your head examined like mine. Jazz is making do these therapy sessions with her to make sure one day I won't wake up and decide to kill you" Sam said.
"Why did put yourself through some of that? You could have let me possibly die from the robots inside my bloodstream" He said using his free hand to tuck a piece of Sam's hair behind her ear. "That's a stupid question to ask me. If the shoe was on the opposite foot, you would do the same for me and we both know that. The worst came after the last time my illusion was transported to you. Being whipped, nearly drown, and electrocuted to death was insane. The decompression box was terrible too, he left me with enough oxygen to live and just that. I remember wanting to die...Is there something else we can talk about? Have you told my grandmother I am alive" she asked?
"I revealed my secret to your grandmother and explain to her what happened to you. I explained why you couldn't come home yet. She wasn't surprised by my secrete though. My parents upgrade all your home defense when you want to go home. We already worked on a kidnapping store involving "Derek" kidnapping and we have a plan for how to clear up the missing person report as well. So, after that's done you can return to school. You have enough time to catch up for finals possibly" Danny said.
"It would be nice to return to school with Tucker, Valerie, and you. I wonder if Paulina will be upset with my return or not. She acts like we are "friends" for cheer, but she sees me as competition. Star will be happy to see me and most of the girls on the team. I remember the last day of school before Thanksgiving break the girls were talking about a winter formal dance at the end of January. Maybe that would be fun to attend... do you want to go inside" she asked turning towards the door leading to the stairs.
When she looked back Danny was holding on a very familiar ring out in front of him. "Sam, I could never have done any of this without you. I don't care what has happened and I don't care what's coming next... I just hope that whatever it is, you're there to share it with me. What I am trying to ask is, Sam will you be my girlfriend" he asked. "I thought you would never ask," she said. He took her left glove off and slipped the ring onto her ring finger. They flew around for a couple more minutes and headed back to Fenton's works. After asking his parents, the group was arriving at Sam's to spend the night at her place. Sam and her grandmother were so excited to see each other. Her grandmother noticed Sam's ring right away but didn't want to embarrass her granddaughter. The group decided they wanted to go swimming and hot tubing in Sam's indoor facilities. Valerie, Jazz, and Dani followed Sam upstairs to get changed.
Valerie wore a yellow slimming one-piece swimsuit with off-shoulder ruffles and a corset-style back. It was sweet and flirty. On the way over Sam's, she had Sam braid her into a crown braid. Jazz wore a teal one-piece swimsuit with a simple design that showed she had some curves and a sweetheart neckline. It had a keyhole back with a hook closure. Sam was braiding Jazz's hair into a French braid. Dani wore a navy blue shimmer modest halter neckline bikini top and a matching bikini short that provide a perfect full-coverage fit. Dani was next line to get her hair braided by Sam and she wanted a fishtail braid.
Sam hadn't changed yet since she was busy braiding hair. She was going to wear a red strapless balconette-styled bikini top with an eyelet-detailed fabrication that include a little ruffled trim across the sweetheart neckline.
