CHAPTER ONE
Twenty Five took a seat in his chair and looked over the files in front of him. Of course, the information was limited at best, this was the foundation, after all. He still needed to prove that they could trust him and his organization. The last person attending the meeting stepped into the dark conference room. Her commanding presence showed her authority, combined with the anonymity shown by her mask, proved she was an Overseer.
"Straight from the top eh?" Twenty Five mused. "Must be important if they aren't getting Alpha-One involved." The Overseer took a stand at the podium at the front of the room and cleared her throat.
"Good morning. You all are here because you are the most qualified individuals for this mission. The information you are about to receive is of the utmost secrecy, Level Four clearance and above only." The Overseer opened the briefing with. "Last week, the following image was taken from security camera footage in a department store in Yasoinaba." The Overseer pressed a button and an image was shown on a projector. Three teenagers falling inside of a TV, the screen distorted.
"Agent Kawahara secured this footage and sent it to us for processing, and we have reason to believe it may be connected to a pair of deaths in the area." The Overseer continued, showing two more images. Both were equally as disturbing. One was a woman strung upside down on a telephone wire, the second showed a schoolgirl in a similar position on a TV antenna. "The victims are as follows: Mayumi Yamano, a television presenter who gained notoriety in the area after an affair with one Taro Namatame was revealed to the public. Saki Konishi, a student at Yasogami High who discovered the body of Yamano. No cause of death has been identified in either person. We suspect this effect of the persons in the image falling into a television is connected to the deaths, mostly due to confirmed rumors that both victims appeared on a local legend known as 'The Midnight Channel' information is included in your Dossies."
"So we're basing this off a rumor?" the only other person in the room asked.
"Correct, commander." The Overseer stated. "As for your roles, Commander, you will lead MTF Epsilon-6 as an emergency team in case a confrontation is to occur. Agent Kawahara has already infiltrated local police, meaning we only need one more team. Twenty Five, you will lead your Kommando Insurgency to observe and capture the students shown in the photo. You will then use them to investigate the television and deaths. We have the designation SCP-7870 on standby for this effect. Your transport leaves at 0500 tomorrow. You are all dismissed." Twenty Five stood up and stretched before approaching The Overseer.
"Ma'am, we won't let you down." Twenty Five stated.
"I know you won't, you didn't come cheap after all." The Overseer chuckled.
"I understand. You will receive your money's worth." Twenty Five stated.
"I'm not just talking about money." The Overseer stated. "It was difficult getting the Village Idiots to work with you. Not a lot of people trust your background, and with your age..."
"They can trust me after this, don't worry ma'am." Twenty Five stated. The Overseer sighed.
"The rest of the council is, let's just say, concerned about letting you lead this operation." The Overseer explained.
"Do not worry, the foundation's goals and my own coincide." Twenty Five started before leaving to brief his team. Looks like the Kommandos had their first job.
Something was bothering Yu Narukami, he had a feeling that he was being watched since Chie awakened to her Persona. While Chie and Yosukue argued about the Midnight Channel, Yu took a look at his surroundings, checking for anything that didn't fit the norm. There were multiple people sitting at separate tables, all dressed different, all observing the three in some way. However, one particular observer caught his attention. A man sitting at a table probably a few meters from them. He wore a dark brown leather jacket with a salmon dress shirt and a pair of jeans paired with black low quarters. He was sitting with a coffee in his hand, carefully observing the group, occasionally pressing a finger to his throat. Yu silenced his friends and pointed out the people watching them.
"I guess we were being pretty loud, huh?" Chie chuckled. Yu sighed.
"It's more than that, did any of you get a feeling you were being watched since Chie Awakened?" Yu asked.
"Now that you mention it, I caught a Car following my dad going to work." Yosuke mused. Chie snapped her fingers.
"Oh, and I saw someone working on the telephone wires outside my house, I think they set up a wire tap." Chie added. Yu nodded.
"We have to test something." Yu began. "Go to the electronics section and try to get into the TV, Yoskue." Yoskue nodded.
"Chie, could you come with me? I can't hold my own in a fight." Yosuke asked.
"Ugh, fine. But you owe me." Chie muttered. The two got up and walked to the elevators. Four of the men nodded at each other and followed. Yu was right, they were being followed. Yu got up and followed the men, making sure he would be followed, shaking them before taking the stairs. He walked to the electronics section, a horrible sight awaiting him. The men who followed them had Yosuke and Chie in cuffs, aiming large rifles at them.
"YU, RUN!" Yoskue yelled before being hit in the head by one of the men. Yu did as his friend said and ran, hoping to find an exit and get a plan together to get Yosuke and Chie back.
"Pursuing." the man in the brown jacket stated. Yu ran down through aisles, knocking over products to slow down his pursuer, but it was in vain. It was almost as if he knew what would be thrown at him before it was. The man cornered him at the models, his expression completely blank.
"You're cornered, best surrender." The man stated, pulling a revolver out of his jacket.
"You're not a cop aren't you?" Yu stated. The man chuckled.
"No I'm not, I'm representing the interests of a private organization that has taken a special interest in you and your friends." The man stated. "Come along quietly, I don't want to risk an incident." Yu evaluated his options, he could grab a fake sword and get him to back off but he wasn't about to bring a sword to a gunfight, or he could run but that wouldn't work. His only option was to surrender. Yu slowly raised his hands and the man nodded.
"Good choice. Kommando-5, mask the VIPs and disperse Class-A Amnestics." The man stated. The man approached and handed Yu a gas mask and handcuffed him. Yu could only hope he and his friends would be okay.
Yu woke up in a strange room wearing an orange jumpsuit. A label on it read 'Person of Interest'. Chie and Yoskue were in the room as well wearing the same jumpsuits. Yoskue was pacing in a corner and Chie was confronting a man in white fatigues and black armor.
"Ma'am, that's enough." The man stated.
"No, I want to know what's happening!" Chie demanded.
"Ma'am, you will be told that soon." The man stated. A message suddenly blared over a loudspeaker.
"Persons of interest Chie Satonaka, Yoskue Hanamura, and Yu Narukami please report to interrogation cell LCZ-3." the loudspeaker stated. The man with the armor stepped forward and rounded the group into a line. They were escorted into a room with chairs and a single table. They all sat down before the man who had captured Yu took a seat in front of them. Yu finally got a good look at him, he was very young, military age, but young. His face, despite having clearly seen combat, was not old enough for many to consider the man a veteran, and he sat with a presence more akin to a college student than an elite special forces member.
"Good evening. You all are involved with SCP-7870." The man began. "You will all tell me what you know about The Midnight Channel, this TV World, and anything else related to SCP-7870."
"We aren't talking." Chie spat. The man sighed.
"I was afraid you would say that." The man stated. "Let me offer you an ultimatum, give us the information, or you will be held here."
"So what? People will know we're missing, they'll find us sooner or later." Yu stated with a smug smile. The man returned the smile.
"Not likely. You see, we have access to numerous resources, and the backing of many governments." The Man explained. "As far as anyone would know, you died during a gas leak at Junes. Then anyone who ever interacted with you would have their memories wiped. It would be as if you never existed. You would spend your entire life in this facility, being tested on, perhaps even forced to use SCP-7870 on D-Class to see what happens. You'd never leave, these walls would be the only thing you know."
"Y-you can't be serious." Yoskue responded.
"The rest of our lives…?" Chie murmured.
"Correct. A fate worse than death, to be frank." The Man responded. "Now, tell me what you know."
"Fine, as long as we get to go home." Yu sighed before explaining everything. Personas, Shadows, The Midnight Channel, everything was explained. The Man nodded.
"Thank you. I have one last proposition." The Man continued. "You can operate outside of us, risking containment should we deem it necessary, or, you can work with us to bring an end to the murders occurring in your town."
"Fine, it's best for everyone." Yu sighed.
"Glad you could see the light." The Man responded. "Introductions are certainly overdue. My name is Twenty Five, I'm the commander of the Kommando Insurgency, a PMC being contracted by The SCP Foundation."
"What the hell is The SCP Foundation?" Chie asked.
"The SCP Foundation is the people in the background who maintain the normal, and hide the abnormal. Our goal is to find things that don't make sense, no matter if it's a creature that ceases to exist when you look at it, or an object that you can't know anything about, we secure it, contain it, and protect it, hence the name." Twenty Five explained. "We are the ones who maintain the veil, if you will."
"So that means you kidnap people and force them into confinement?" Yoskue asked, trying to provoke a reaction.
"Only if they refuse to come willingly." Twenty Five answered, not falling for the trap. "We pull test subjects from death row inmates and people who volunteer in return for rewards such as degrees and debt amnesty. As for any person who is anomalous, they usually come willingly. If not, we have to use force."
"Does The Foundation have any enemies? Surely, you must." Yu asked.
"That information is classified, but we do have some groups we keep an eye on." Twenty Five answered.
"Why are you so willing to say all of this?" Yu added, it was odd he was answering their questions when he was in the position of power, after all.
"Because, we want you to work with us." Twenty Five stated. "And we want you to know who you're working with. I've already had my phone number placed on your cell phones, contact me when you next enter SCP-7870, and inform the entity within that you work with to make preparations for my arrival." Twenty Five left without a word.
Twenty Five sighed before stepping into the observation room. The Overseer gave him a nod and offered him a seat and a cup of coffee. Twenty Five accepted both and let The Overseer, who he now knew for sure to be O5-2.
"Well, you did very well for your first interrogation." O5-2 said with a masked smile.
"Thank you ma'am." Twenty Five responded. O5-2 nodded.
"What do you plan to do from here? It's imperative that we figure out how to contain SCP-7870." O5-2 questioned.
"If you're looking for weakness, let me know if you find any." Twenty Five stated. "But, I plan to cooperate with those kids and identify the origins of and methods of containment for SCP-7870."
"Very good. Now then, we have identified the school they attend, we have the perfect cover for you to be able to keep a closer eye on them."
A/N: Glad to get this out! This is an Idea I've had for a while, and I'm happy to say that I'm writing this now. The idea came from some stuff a friend and I talked about once, the idea of what the SCP Foundation would do with Persona Users and Shadows, and the idea stuck with me. A few things to note, Kommando is not a part of the SCP Foundation Mythos, it's my own original creation, same with Twenty Five (though my friend helped me make him). At the time of writing this, SCP-7870 does not exist, it may in the future, but not when I wrote this. I'll be following the SCP writing guides on the wikidot as much as I can, please help me correct any mistakes I make, as it may not be perfect. Also, there will be no Cannon Cross-testing with the TV World or Personas, but I may make some Omakes if anyone wants to see some. Well, that's all for now, hope you enjoyed, and have a great day!
