Chapter Three

Lab

Kasie was waiting in her office to received further information from Bethesda, hospital on an employee that might still be working there the last ten years plus as a lab technician for different x-ray devices.

Finally after an hour. She had received an e-mail from an associate of hers that works in the personnel office on the Q.T. in order to ask a favor. Looking at the profile of one Donny Brooks with a history having worked in Special Ops for the Naval seals before washing out, and eventually getting a job as a lab technician at Bethesda.

He's had a police record that was closed due to complications. And it seems with therapist comments that he might be unstable at times.

Moving to another site on her computer terminal. This is when her office phone began to ring as she looks at the name on the screen with a smile.

"Special Agent Gibbs how are you doing?" she will say to her friend and associate having been out of work on the suspension.

"I am okay Kasie. Listen I need to ask you a favorite on whether you were able to find anything with the briefcase found in the trunk of the vehicle that blew?" Gibbs will say looking over at his wife anxious like always.

"Actually I found a print on the briefcase that just might lead to your serial killer that Marcie had mentioned to me over the phone Gibbs. His name is Donny Brooks ex-Naval Seal washed out to now working at Bethesda hospital as a lab technician with a history of violence. No doubt he's involved in others Gibbs that will lead you to the reason as to why you're friend was killed in the first place?"

"The police said it was a drug overdose along with two shots to his chest before getting blown up as well," Gibbs said with caution to the wind.

"He was force-fed no doubt to make everyone think he was back on the juice again?" Kasie had to say with the lingo.

"I know he wasn't Kasie since I only spoke with him on the phone last month telling me that he had cleaned a very long time." Gibbs had to say to Kasie.

"And there is something else you're not going to like Special Agent Gibbs?"

"What is that Kasie? I need to know anything that might help," he exclaimed with his statement over the phone.

"Marcie had told me about the case you two are working on and it seems that Donny Brooks just might be the serial killer having the guts to kill with his military history?" Kasie noted with hearing Gibbs's reaction over the phone.

"If this is the case. This will mean that Brooks might be after us in order to finish up with killing spree?"

"Then you need to make Marcie understand since she is anxious to put that man in jail after killing her childhood friend?" Kasie suggested.

"I have tried to have her stop looking even though she is my wife for god sake. She is just too stubborn at times?" he coyed with his response.

"It sounds familiar Gibbs!" Kasie joked slightly even though it was a serious matter. "However be careful Gibbs with this nut case?"

"I can take care of myself Kasie. You know me from the past three years on how I work?" he croaked out with his response.

"Yeah, I know Gibbs. But things are different now that you're been suspended and no doubt Director Leon Vance is going to look for any type of dirt on you in order to get rid of from NCIS?" she commented strongly.

"I know this fact about Vance since his altitude has changed a great deal the past year," Gibbs noted.

"I have noticed. But my question to you, Gibbs is what do you and Marcie are going to do about Donny Brooks at the hospital?" she had to ask with the importance of this one question.

"I will have to discuss it with Marcie because nothing gets past her?" he exclaimed with a deep breath.

"Good luck on that one Gibbs. And if I find anything else I will be sure to call." Kasie needed to say with hanging up the phone.

He turned to face his wife with that look on her face needing to get her hands on Brooks. "I need to do this Jethro with going after this son of a bitch?"

"No, you don't Marcie! I am going to call some of my friends that owe me to help get this serial killer." Gibbs said with moving over to the corner of his basement to search for some of his weapons, ammo, and other defensive measures. He even pulled out his vest that had been hiding ever since his suspension.

"How dare you leave me out of this after I was the one to get you involved at the very beginning?" she stopped him with her hand up against his chest with a deep breath before continuing with her statement and trying to convince him to change his mind.

"I can't afford to lose you, Marcie. I have already lost too much over the years and this past year with the Pandemic." he cried out with dropping his vest onto the table.

"What about all that I have lost Jethro and now finding out who is responsible for my childhood friend having been murdered by that bastard?" she hits his chest this time with her hand as he was able to stop her before getting hurt further.

"STOP IT ALREADY MARCIE!" he says with trying to hold her for emotional support. "I love you too much to lose you, and I will be just fine having my friends along with me. I was going to ask Nick to come along, but of late his head has been in the clouds for when it comes to Eleanor Bishop."

"They are in love Jethro. He's going to do what is necessary to protect her from anything that gets in their way. And that includes with Bishop's special training this past year." she had let the cat out of the bag for when it comes to this woman named Odette Sims having worked for the C.I.A. at one time.
