Chapter 19th
It was an hour later when Doctor Cyril Taft and Mrs. Marcie Gibbs were heading up to ICU on the tenth floor to see her husband Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Hopefully, this will give him a reality check finally!
He asked her whether she was alright sitting in the black wheelchair. "Sure I am fine Doctor! I just don't the fact that Jethro is going to have a bypass in a few days when he's not ready for it?" she noted.
"I know. But it has to be done nevertheless and we will be making sure that everyone that works on my team will be there instead of strangers."
"What the hell Doctor does that mean in the first place?" Marcie cried out.
"What I mean Marcie is the fact that too many attacks have been going on against your husband and I need to be sure that no one tries to kill him while I am operating on Jethro? I am going to have security waiting inside, out, and upstairs in the observation room just in case." he exhales.
"It's about time something is going to be done for when it comes to the security measures. Even though I am just a reporter from way back," she exclaimed deeply.
Once they moved out of the elevator on the tenth they headed out down the hallway to her husband's room with Gibbs was going to be surprised.
There was a knock on the door when Gibbs's voice could he hear. Doctor Cyril Taft walked in to let him know that he has a visitor.
"Just what I don't need after everyone has been in this room to probe me in regard to my heart and other parts of my body." he was annoyed.
"It's the procedure for any surgery Jethro. Now let me bring in your visitor?" he responded with a crooked smile.
The door opened to be his wife Marcie inside the black wheelchair. "OMG! Marcie, I just can't believe this! How did you manage it? Never mind I see the very person standing in the room?" he cried out with raising the bed with the remote.
"Jethro I heard that you're going to have the heart bypass in a few days?" she came over to him in the wheelchair.
Meanwhile, Doctor Cyril Taft decided to give them privacy in order to talk.
"I have no choice Marcie in order to fix the issues with my heart. Otherwise, I know that I will have the best man available doing the surgery." he quipped with his words with Marcie to hold his hand that was feeling warm to the touch.
"When I was told what had happened, I was waking up from when I had collapsed. I just couldn't believe that the once again is after you?" she needed to exhale for the moment.
"So what else is new Marcie?" he says with sarcasm to her with his response. "What am I to do for when it comes to my life in general?" he cries out...
"Live for the most part Jethro?" she exclaimed with kissing him again with her husband needing to take a deep breath and grimacing through the kiss from his wife. "I am sorry to have caused you to pain in your chest?"
"Hopefully when I have the surgery I will be able to be normal again after all of these years of being under stress from the suspects I was after all of the time?" he says with extreme emotion. "Ever since I was shot in the chest and knee by Luke Harris my entire life has changed for the worst!"
"Really for the worst? where do I fit in Leroy Jethro Gibbs?" she was serious this time with the question.
"You know damn well in what I mean?" Gibbs had to say at his wife with his expression.
"Do I Jethro?" Marcie inquired with her response. She wanted to hit him nevertheless but decided to wait it out talking to him further.
"What is wrong with you, Marcie to be acting this way?" Gibbs needed to know with his stress levels beginning to build again.
"I really don't know anymore Jethro. Maybe I need to go home and get some sleep?" she responded to his answer. She was able to move up from her chair to kiss him quickly onto his cheek walking away.
"Where are you going already, Marcie?" he cried out with the question as he was feeling the pressure in his chest before the alarms begin to go off indicating that he was in Cardiac arrest.
Marcie called out quickly for someone as the crash cart was arriving with the team and Doctor Silverton working the floor while Taft had gone home for the evening.
"What happened?" the doctor had to say to her standing back.
"My husband was getting upset with feeling pain in his chest while we were talking Doctor." she was scared as the paddles were readied to be used on his chest as they zapped him three times before he was able to come back to normal.
Marcie was scared as hell with watching her husband's heart rate back to normal while the team settled him back into his bed getting him ready for possible surgery.
"I will need to call Doctor Taft at home to see what he had to say on the subject. This is not looking good at all?" he said to her with issuing orders to the nurse's station contacting Doctor Taft.
Doctor Cyril's Taft residence 8.30 p.m.
He had been relaxing in the living room with his feet propped up on the couch. While his wife Catherine was watching TV in the bedroom after putting their daughter to sleep in the nursery.
His cell phone was sitting on the coffee table when all of a sudden it had gone off vibrating to make the doctor annoyed that someone from the hospital will be calling him.
"This is Doctor Taft what's up?" he asks with his wife Catherine coming out to grab a snack when she saw her husband talking to someone from the hospital. "When?" he noted with the excitement of his voice.
"Less than an hour ago Doctor Taft. Doctor Silverton thinks it's best to take him to the operating room to begin the process with the double bypass?"
"I am coming now. Please advise the operating room to be sure to take further x rays of his heart, along with the usual tests. Understand?" he had to say with a curious look coming from his wife.
"Understood doctor." she hangs up the phone. While Cyril Taft turned to take a look at his wife.
"What's on your mind?" he asks her.
"I do hope that Jethro is going to be alright Cyril?"
"As do I Catherine. I will do my best to save the man's life and have him live longer?" he exchanged with his comment to his wife going back into the bedroom getting his personal belongings together.
He walked in to change out his pajamas and his regular civies. While making sure he had all of his money, I.D., credit cards, and most of all the keys for his vehicle.
