Chapter 46th
It was an hour later when the body of Special Agent Hal Williams undercover working for NCIS was found by hikers in the desert when they noticed the vultures up above recently that something was dead.
Two male hikers from the observatory some 15 miles away take some time to hike as an exercise for their day off.
Noticing the body near the cactus and rocks. They saw that the body had three shots to his head and chest. It was at this point that a call to the local sheriff's office notified them of finding the body found by Doctor Avery of the Sierra observatory.
The call was made to the local sheriff having to be at the site of the Coppermine. "Damn!" there goes his break at the local diner some twenty minutes away from the mine after leaving the NCIS agents with the explosion and the two agents injured on its way to the hospital.
Doctor Avery needed to stop with the hiking to sit down under the few trees in the area. Drinking his cold bottled of water to be handed to his associate Doctor Metcalf age 56 an expert in astronomy. Lately, they had been tracking the number of small asteroids coming into this system having advised Nasa and other private companies with the new laser system to try and destroy those types of asteroids or anything else that comes close to Earth.
"Did you check his check his clothing Doctor Metcalf?" looking over with his associate having to be wearing his blue gloves and with placing items found into two small evidence bags until the sheriff arrives.
"I have and why I was able to find these items," he tells him with looking up into the sky to see more of the vultures looking to fly down to take their pickings at the body.
"When the authorities are able to get here. You're able to hand it to them in the first place?" he said with wiping away the sweat from his brow with the rise in heat and humidity.
It was at this particular time when a police vehicle pulled up to be greeted by the two doctors from the observatory. "Doctors how are you today?" he will be asked them with taking off his police hat to place it back into his vehicle leaving the air conditioning on.
"As you can see Jack we found the body over there with the vultures trying to tear him to pieces. His wallet and the rest of the items my associate found are inside the evidence bags." Doctor Avery said to the sheriff.
"Thanks, I will take this back to headquarters to have the lab go over them. I already have my hands full with the Coppermine exploding," he says to them.
"I heard the call on the scanner Jack. What the hell happened?" Doctor Avery cried out with his response and wiping his brow again.
"Two NCIS agents injured having been taken to Sierra medical center with one of the agent's wives from Washington, D.C. will be flying in," Jack tells them.
"Can you tell us the agent's name?" Doctor Avery will ask the sheriff having known him for ten years.
"Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs." Jack alluded with the name.
"I heard of him by reputation only." Doctor Avery will say to him with the sheriff to be taking the two evidence bags into his vehicle to get back into town and the lab, along with getting something to eat again and drink before going on home.
The sheriff had gotten into the front seat with locking the doors with leaving the two evidence bags on the side of him with blasting the A.C. up high before moving out from them.
