MLP FIM Season 10 Episode 7-End of Era

The sun rose on another beautiful day in Equestria, as look over Sweet Apple Acres as the Apple family along with Jaden and Sugar Belle were about endue a hard's days work.

Putting her trademark hat on Applejack made its way downstairs and greeted everyone. "Morin', y'all, I see that ready for today."

"Eeyup," Big Mac replied. "Got to see if we can try and get those last few orders before the fall season comes."

Then suddenly both of them realized that Granny Smith wasn't at the breakfast table.

"Not this again, it's the third time that she is slowly getting up for breakfast." Applejack muttered.

"Well no offense AJ but Granny Smith is not as spry as she used to be." Said Jaden.

Just then Granny Smith came downstairs.

"Sorry for the delay young ones I guess my tank is running on empty." Said Granny as she was eating her breakfast until she felt a sharp pain in her chest causing her to fall seeing her mad her family and her former rival to be a concern.

"Oh, Granny!" Apple Bloom cried, hugging her grandmother tightly. "We're so glad you're alright."

"It's the fine child I'm still here. It's going take more than a health problem to keep me down." Granny chuckled. "So, what happened exactly?"

Then the doctor came in with a test results are done on Granny Smith.

"How is she, Doctor?" Applejack worriedly inquired.

"The good news is that she okay, for now, the bad news is that…"

"Come on! I can take it. I've had worse news before." Said Granny.

"Well we have discovered that you suffer a major heart attack, and your arteries are starting to grow weaker."

"Meaning?" Apple Bloom asked.

"Meaning that her body is staring fail her." Said Jaden.

As the Apples were shocked by the news Jaden as said. At Twilight's Royal Suite in Canterlot, Twilight had just completed a royal meeting and was sitting in her recliner.

"At least I have another hour until the next meeting rolls along, " She said to her herself. "Time for the supreme ruler of Equestria to some light reading." Taking a copy of a Daring Do novel with her magic, Twilight slowly began to read when she was interrupted by the sounds of knocking on her door. "Damnit," she muttered to herself as went to the door. "I may be supreme ruler, but can't the supreme ruler have a break for at least an hour."

"Twilight?" Applejack called from the other side. "Are you there?"

Knowing that it was Applejack's voice, Twilight immediately openly and saw her farm pony friend with a pained look on her face. "Applejack, what's wrong?"

"It's Granny Smith!" Applejack answered in a panicked voice as Twilight allowed her in. "We had to take her to the hospital this morning. The doctor said…" But Applejack couldn't her sentence and buried herself in Twilight's chest.

Twilight could feel great pain in the Princess of Honesty's soul and body. Right away she knew what was going to happen. "Are you certain that what he said was true?" Twilight asked. "That Granny Smith might be..?"

"Don't say it, Twilight! Applejack cried. "She's got a lot to live for!"

"Applejack," Twilight sighed, trying to see reality. "I'm afraid to say it but it seems like Granny Smith might be reaching the end of her lifespan."

"Great, now you said it." Applejack cried.

"Applejack, she saw a lot in her long life," Twilight tried to calmly answer. "Trust me we all have. But we can't live forever. Eventually, death comes to all of us."

Ugh, if I was only a unicorn-like Sugar Belle…" Applejack remarked.

"Applejack, not even alicorn or unicorn magic can prevent death. When it comes, it comes," Twilight insisted. "But I can tell you that we will all stand by you and the rest of the Apples whatever comes your way."

Twilight's reassuring words did little to help Applejack's pain.

That night, Twilight returned to Ponyville still imaging the pain in her pain her friend and fellow princess' a voice from earlier that day. Coming into her throne room, Twilight sat down at her throne and begun to think of how to address the situation in question. "Twilight?" She heard a voice that belonged to Celestia, who opened the door and walked into seeing Twilight on her throne. "I didn't hear you come in."

"Sorry about that, Celestia," Twilight stammered as she lost her train of thought. "Um, actually your timing was perfect."

"In what way?" Celestia asked as she seated upon Fluttershy's throne.

"When you were ruling Equestria," Twilight questioned. "Did you ever have to any state funerals?"

"Oh, of course, I did Twilight," Celestia somberly replied. "All sorts for important ponies of higher ranks: Royal Guard captains, prime ministers, dignitary ponies, you name it. Why do you ask me?"

"Because Applejack's grandmother…is dying." Twilight glumly answered.

Celestia let out a deep sigh, the next words to leave her. "I'm sorry to hear that. What's going on?"

"I guess Granny Smith's age finally caught up with her, " Twilight answered. "I had to be honest with Applejack, Celestia. No pony or creature for that matter can live forever. Sooner or later, we all die."

"That is correct." Celestia sighed again. "And I can assure you that Granny Smith will be honored like an important pony who contributed to the benefit of Equestria. "

Taking in what her mentor had said, Twilight mentally prepared herself for the impending death of one of Ponyville's finest and most beloved citizens.

At the Ponyville Hospital

"It's not looking good is it?" Granny Smith asked.

"Unfortunately not, all of your motor skills have been stopped completely. Sooner or later the rest of body will…" Doctor Stable.

"I think I got the memo here doc!" Granny Smith yelled. "If going to die can I least have my last moments be good moments?"

Then Apples, Sugar Belle, and Jaden walked in.

"Hey where's Apple Bloom?" asked Granny Smith.

"She at school, I told her to keep her inform if anything else happens." Said Jaden.

Later that day at Sweet Apple Acres where Apple Bloom enter Granny Smith's Room where Scottaloo and Sweetie Belle

"We tried to keep her away, but she wouldn't listen!" Shouted Sweetie Belle as she and Scootaloo raced into her room."

"It's all right, children," Granny Smith added. "I wanted to see you all before you go. I hope you continue to…look out for each other…just as I looked out for all of you." As her strength started to give out.

"Thank you for everything you have done we'll miss you." Applejack spoke as she tries to her emotions but gotten no response from her it was over the matriarch of the Apple Family was gone.

Meanwhile, Twilight stood out on the balcony of the Castle of Friendship looking out over to the west, in the direction of Sweet Apples Acres. She had a sense that something major had happened and it was apparent that what she'd been expecting to happen had indeed happened.

"Twilight?" Celestia asked, coming up the stairs. "It's late. You should be in bed."

"There been a death in Ponyville tonight, Celestia," Twilight looking over her mentor. "Granny Smith died tonight."

Celestia was startled to heat this, but immediately felt nothing but sympathy. "I'm sorry Twilight, and sorry for Applejack. What are you going to do?"

Without hesitation Twilight answer Celestia right away. "Prepare for a Ponyville funeral," Twilight said to Celestia. "I'll have Spike write to the mayor tomorrow telling that I need to meet with her ASAP!"

With those words, Twilight opened her wings and took to the air!

"Where are you going?!" Celestia asked, looking up at the airborne Twilight.

"To be with Applejack and the rest of the Family right," Twilight replied. "I'll be back soon. Don't wait up for me."

Celestia watched as Twilight flew up into the night, know that a funeral in Ponyville was indeed to take place honoring of its most famous residents.

After Twilight arrived she immediately went upstairs to help her closest and youngest subjects in such grief.

"Apple Bloom?" Twilight called in a gentle voice as she approached the sobbing filly.

"She's gone, Twilight! Granny's gone!" Apple Bloom loudly wailed. "Can't you do something to bring her back, please?!"

"I wish I could but there's nothing I can do. Even alicorn magic can't bring the dead. And even if it wouldn't be right, it could violate the natural order of things." Said Twilight as looked down on her.

With that Applejack walked into the room trying to comfort the young filly.

"So, what happens now?" asked Applejack while Apple Bloom was hugging her.

"I'll have Yusei send letters to all of the Apple family members," Twilight nodded, having deduced what Applejack was going to say. "Right now I would focus on getting some sleep. Just remember that my door is always is open if you need to talk about anything."

The Next Morning Twilight returned to Canterlot, making plans for a simple but elaborate funeral for Granny Smith. Enter the throne room, Twilight saw Mayor Mare arrive. "Thanks for coming to Canterlot, I'm sorry we couldn't meet in Ponyville, but.."

"It's alright Twilight, I'd be more than happy to be willing to accommodate your schedule. Of course Sweet Apple Acres is a very sad place. I knew Granny Smith longer than any pony; I was there for every moment." Said Mayor Mare.

"All the more reasons that we send her off with Dignity and Respect!" said Twilight.

Meanwhile at the Ghastly Gorge ruins, Jaden thought to himself.

"Man, the last couple of months have been insane Celestia and Luna retiring, the Legion of Doom crashing the party, Twilight's friends becoming princesses and now Granny Smith is gone and everyone in the family is taking it hard." Talking to himself while looking at the wildlife. "I could feel her pain of loss of a family member. I need to be there for her sake." Just as he was walking back he soon crosses paths with his old foe.

"Quake! What is the name of Celestia's mane are you doing here?" As he ready his scythe. "If you looking for a fight, this isn't the best for you, and I give the circumstance."

"Relax, I'm not here to cause trouble I'm just here give the Apples my best wishes for losing Granny Smith." Quake said as tried to calm the situation.

"Seriously, why couldn't do it at the ceremony" Jaden said dryly.

"Love to but, Applejack, and Apple Bloom is still mad after I helped Flim and Flam with destroying the farm. " Quake replied.

"Ok, TIA, please tell me what are doing here?"

"Well, obviously there are only ones who lost a family member today. This is where my mother and father died. I come here on this day every day to honor them." Said as he looks his parents' grave. "Part of me wanted them to stay alive, but part of also says that there is a better place. Though Granny Smith is gone may her spirit rest in peace. Besides shouldn't be at the funeral since your part of the Apples."

After the funeral was over, Applejack was left alone in front of the gravesite of her grandmother, directly in front of the tree where the writing on the tombstone read:

GRANNY SMITH APPLE,

BELOVED GRANDMOTHER AND PILLAR OF PONYVILLE

Touching the gravestone, Applejack sighed deeply in reflection. "Thank you, Granny. No matter what happens, we'll always love you."
