Chapter 8. Double... triple? Quadruple Date!?

It was a beautiful rainy morning. Despite the terrible weather, it was impossible to underestimate the gray-shrouded landscape that gave the surrounding forests a mysterious aura. Subaru, Beatrice and Emilia, however, did not enjoy the landscape that was visible from the window. Sitting together on the living room floor, they preferred to focus on the game the black-haired boy had been working on these days. It had a rectangular board, and on its edges were arranged boxes with the names of various objects that could be bought with pieces of paper. When one of the players entered such a field he was obliged to pay the owner. Following the example of the currency of the kingdom, Natsuki created banknotes worth: a copper coin with the image of the royal castle, a silver coin with the image of the sage, a gold coin with a holy sword, a holy coin with a dragon and an additional card with the highest denomination with the image of Emilia as the crowned queen of Lugnica. Let us not mention the fact that his talent as a painter is unlikely to equal his talent as a tailor. Subaru called the game "Monopoly" or "Destroyer of Families and Friendship", while Otto preferred the name "Hoshin game". It is not known whether he called her so in honor of the great merchant or sometimes out of sheer spite to one of the candidates for the throne. Regardless of the motives, the new name was much more adopted by the residents of the residence. The former was rejected due to the lack of the concept of capitalism or monopoly in this world, the latter was not appropriate in a situation where everyone was having a good time.

-One, two, three and ... you have to pay tax!

-Betty won't pay! Taxes are mere theft, I suppose.

-I see my little Beako developing free-market views. However, if she does not pay, she will go to jail for four hundred years.

-Then my contractor will set me free again, I suppose.

-Come here!

-Aaaa!

Subaru catches the ghost and, lying on the floor, picks it up. Emilia watches all this without hiding her beautiful smile. The scene is interrupted by the appearance of Kazuma and Megumin. They are wearing raincoats.

-Where are you going?

-Megumin asked me to practice the magic of the explosion together. Roswaal reportedly found a place for her where he would not blow up anyone's property.

Subaru looks at Megumin and she looks back with her thumbs up. Subaru repay with the same gesture. Neither Emilia nor Kazuma know what they mean.

-But ... Isn't the weather too bad for a walk today?

-That's why I'm going with them!

Leaning against one of the railings, Aqua appeared out of nowhere.

-Huh? What do you mean?

-What's what, Megumin? Kazuma also invited me to give you my divine power and not to get wet!

-Huh!? Kazuma!?

-What? You didn't think I was going to get wet in this downpour?

-If Aqua protects us, can we join too?

-Emilia! You know, but ...

-Betty will be joining too, in fact. I want to see how magic from another world works.

-HUH!?

Megumin is watching the situation helplessly. With surprise and resignation in his eyes he looks at the equally surprised Subaru.

-Sure, we'll wait for you when you change cloth. Aqua is supposed to cover us, but you know how it happens with her.

-I heard it.

-Good you heard that! One more unplanned bath and I'll get sick!

All three quickly changed into appropriate clothes. Everyone wore outfits in their favorite color: Emilia in white and purple, Kazuma in green, Aqua chose blue, and Megumin red. Only Beatrice asked Subaru to make her outfit in the same orange color as the black-haired boy wears. Of course, she didn't say it outright. Hours had to pass before Natsuki realized what the ghost was up to. This was in fact the opposite of the current situation where Megumin stared at Subaru with the intention of blowing it up. She resented him that he didn't stop the others from joining, She pouted at the boy all the way and didn't change her behavior even when they got there.

The place Roswaal chose was a lonely lake in the middle of a forest. There are no villages or other human settlements in the area, and the nearest towns are far enough away that no one will hear pseudo-nuclear tests. Another advantage of this place is that the water contained in the tank should suppress the destructive force of the shock wave. The disadvantages of this choice probably include the complaints of Aqua, who, according to Kazum, had some bad memories of lake. Everyone agreed that this was strange for a water goddess.

-Okay, I set up a blanket so that we had a place to sit down and not to get our clothes wet. The spell should protect us from above, and if it stops working, there is also a tree that should be a good roof over our heads.

-Even you Subaru don't trust me!

-Not me...

- Of course he doesn't trust you. Nobody trusts you in anything. I don't think you should trust even yourself!-Kazuma interjected.

-Stop! Stop! Stop! You know perfectly well that my followers trust me!

-They trusted you so much that they banished you from the city.

-Keep quiet both of you! I need silence to utter an incantation-Megumin interrupted, clearly annoyed.

-Well ... There is power in the deep black and red. I catch her and command her to serve her so that I can manifest my anger! EXPLOSION!

A beam of energy is released from the staff and cuts through the rain pouring down from the sky. The reflection of the spell shimmers beautifully in drops. The laser hits the surface of the lake and the explosion spreads across the water. The mixture of fire and water splits the light creating rainbows made of various types of red. The view is one of the most beautiful things that man has created with the use of light. In the final act of the performance, the mist of droplets and water vapor mix with the rain, enhancing the ubiquitous gray.

-Awesome!

-Ha! How much would you give for this explosion! On a scale of zero to one hundred?

-A hundred at least!-They all said in unison!

-Even Betty is delighted. You must have a really powerful affinity for fire magic, I suppose.

-Affinity?- Aqua asked.

-There is no parts of magic in your world?

-He is, but I've never heard of affinity.

-In our world, magic is divided into six elements: fire, water, earth, wind, shadow and light. Some possess only one, and some, like Roswaal, are masters of all kinds. Affinity, on the other hand, determines how strong you are in particular categories. You can have two talents, but be good at one, or have no spellcasting skills whatsoever.

-I learned a few types ... Hey! Does it mean that in this world I can become some powerful mage !?-Kazuma asked, overjoyed.

-As I said, the versatility or the rarity of talent does not mean that you are a powerful wizard. To confirm your strength, someone would have to check your gate.

-Uuu! Could you do that?

-I don't see why Betty should do this!

-Well, don't let Beako ask you. If we all gathered here to practice magic anyway, why didn't we ...

-I'm sorry to stop this chat, but would someone be nice and take my face out of a puddle.

Everyone turns to where the voice was coming from. They see Megumin lying in the mud, unable to even turn her face away from the wet ground.

-Eh ... I'm getting you out.

Kazuma walks over to the muddy sorceress and carries her to a dry blanket. Emilia hands her a towel and after a while she is dry, although her muscles still refuse to cooperate.

-Okay. Since my contractor asked me, I can do it. Give me your hand.

-Sure.

-Hmm ... Yes.

-So what?

-You have many kinds of magic. Water, fire, earth, wind and even a really rare shadow.

-Ha! Is luck finally smiling at me !? I really won't have to rely on a team of losers after all!

-Kazuma!-Megumin and Aqua exclaimed at the same time.

-Yes! I am Kazuma! And soon the great wizard Kazuma!

-I'm sorry, but did you even listen to me !? Versatility doesn't mean power! Your affinity is average at best, in fact. You can learn some basic spells of course, but you will never be a master of any kind.

All the enthusiasm leaves the brown-haired boy. He stands like a statue, staring lifelessly at a girl wearing drills instead of a haircut.

-Can I hear someone's shattered dreams?

-Aqua, maybe you'd skip ...

-Ha! Even in another world, loli-NEET will become loli-NEET!

-Aqua come on! Better let Beako test your abilities.

-Betty's not some magical office, lest ... Anyway! Give me your hand.

Aqua gives the hand to little loli.

-Awesome. You are really powerful in the magic of water and light.

-As a true goddess! Not like hikikomori!

-Aqua.

-Yes, Kazuma?

The boy hits the goddess right on the head knocking her down on the unfolded blanket.

- WHAT WAS THAT?

-TO HAUGHTINESS! STOP EXALTING YOURSELF SO MUCH THE GODDESS OF PARTY TRICKS!

Suddenly, Emilia stops talking to Megumin and catches the arguing two by the ears. Both the mad priest and the green-clad adventurer.

-Aaaaaa!

-Okay, that's enough. You both are going to apologize to each other now!

-Aaaaa! Okay!

-Just let go.

The silver-haired half-elf frees the unruly two from her grip. They are both lying on the ground massaging their ears to relieve pain.

-I didn't think Emilia was so strong!

-Oooo!

- And I didn't think it would really work. I'll have to try it myself sometime, if I remember-Megumin interjected.

-Well! I'm waiting for apologize!

Kazuma and Aqua look at each other reluctantly, but then shake hands.

-Sorry.

-Me too.

Emilia smiles again, clearly pleased with the turn of events.

-Okay. So if everyone has already made up, maybe we'll eat something. I brought fruit and a drink.

Everyone started reaching for food. Everyone except Aqua, who became more interested in the bottle with the promising shape. And besides Megumin and Beatrice. The former couldn't put anything in her mouth by herself, so Kazuma was helping her. The ghost, on the other hand, shared the food with his contractor. In fact, only half of the group actually served themselves!

-So out of curiosity ... What kind of magic do you use?

-I use the magic of fire.

-THE YOU CAN USE THE MAGIC OF EXPLOSION! LET ME TEACH YOU THE GREATEST KIND OF SPELLS IN THE WORLD!-Megumin exclaimed , crying out beyond the scope of her strength.

-Wow! What an enthusiasm.

-You better not move! I'm not gonna get you out of the mud again!

-Wait Megumin.

Emilia approaches the crimson sorceress and puts something in her mouth. Suddenly, the brown-haired girl gets up full of energy and ready to act again.

-WHAT WAS THAT!?

-Bokko fruit. It stimulates the gate to regenerate mana and thus restore strength.

-WHERE CAN I BUY THIS!?-Kazuma and Megumin exclaimed simultaneously, grabbing the half-elf by the shoulders.

-THANKS TO THIS I WILL BE ABLE TO USE EXPLOSION MAGIC AS MUCH AS I WANT!

-THANKS TO THIS I WILL NOT HAVE TO CARRY SHE ANY MORE AND SHE WILL BECOME USEFULLY!

-You can get it at any grocery store. However, it is not the best idea to strain the gate as much, I suppose.

-What do you mean?

-My stupid contractor used both the fruit and the gate and thus damaged it. Now it is up to Betty whether or not he will continue to live! Otherwise, mana poisoning would kill him.

-And for that I am grateful to you, Beako.

-Ha! At least in magic, I'm better than Subaru.

-You would like to! Subaru Betty is better than you at everything!

-And yet, instead of being a wizard able to burn down the country, he is a babysitter.

-We'll be able to cast magic again soon, in fact! We are developing a method to store mana for casting spells.

-Yeah? I would like to see that.

-I'm gonna hit him right now, I suppose!

-My holy me! She is so cute when she tries to defend Subaru!-Aqua spoke up.

-Beako is always cute.

-You are right to pass.

-WELL! AFTER YOU HAVE ENDED THESE SENSIBLE TALKS, IT'S TIME TO TEACH EMILIA THE MAGIC OF EXPLOSION!

-Erm, I don't think that would be necessary. I already have my ice spells.

-Ice? But you said you wield fire?

-The magic of fire allows you to control the temperature, so lowering it and freezing the water is doable with this type of magic.

-You can show?

-Of course!

Emila gets up from the blanket, puts on her white and purple coat again, and goes out into the rain. As she stands surrounded by raindrops dripping down her clothes, she begins to summon ice weapons. Dozens of sharp swords, long spears, mighty maces, great axes, and master glaives appear above her head and behind her back. The view is as impressive as it is terrifying. The half-elf directs all this jumble of blades straight at a nearby tree, destroying it and uprooting it.

-Awesome. And you can do it more than once a day?

-Of course.

-Subaru, how about a fairly lucrative trade. I'm offering three women in exchange for ... Aaaaa!

Kazuma didn't finish the sentence. Megumin interrupted him, hitting him on the head with a staff.

-I still think that no magic can equal a beautiful explosion ...

The brown-haired boy grabs the enchantress by the cheeks and starts messing them up.

-Hey! Let me show you one more spell! Ice soldiers!

-Huh?

-Emilia, maybe not here?-Subaru said, clearly confused.

-Why?

-Because you know ... I'm a little ashamed.

-What? We did this spell together and I want to show it off!

Subaru failed to convince Emilia. The silver-haired girl uses magic and after a while five soldiers armed with various weapons materialize. More importantly, they all have ...

-Is that the face of Subaru?

The black-haired boy clearly flushed with embarrassment.

-I would say the image is quite flattering.

-Hey.

-They should have eyes like: I haven't slept in five nights-Kazuma joined the goddess.

-Hey!

-And they seem much quieter than the original!

-Exactly!

-HEY!

Aqua and Kazuma laugh until they die. Even Emilia barely seems to keep from smiling. Beatrice finds it frivolous and just stares at the two idiots.

-And I find it cute.

-Huh?

-While I think a great explosion is a much better gift for a loved one, this way is also a pretty good gift.

The blush disappears from Subaru's cheeks and this time it moves to Emilia's face. The sorceress's words embarrassed the silver-haired half-elf. Mainly by using the word "beloved."

-Why did you get romantic mode turned on?

-You could get something like that too.

-What? No thanks. I'm not going to look like these two are flushing at the thought of holding hands and unable to take the most important step in the relationship.

-Maybe let's go already. The rain has stopped and we won't need Aqua's help anymore.

The whole group gathers and heads towards the mansion. On the path you can see the puddles left after the downpour. Megumin stared at them all the way, looking at her reflection and thinking. She is frustrated. Not only did she not manage to be alone with Kazuma, their date turned into a date for Emilia and Subaru. What's even more annoying is it wasn't their fault. Emilia is really poor at reading such situations, and Subaru does not have the courage to explain such things to her convincingly enough. Rather, the sorceress directs her discontent towards her old companion.

-Natsuki Subaru returned to the mansion!-the black-haired boy shouted at the entire mansion at the same time making his famous pose.

-As usual, you are extremely loud and irritating, Barusu.

-He always like that?-Kazuma asked.

-Unfortunately yes. But at least it helps me know when to leave.

-It is like a warning signal for the approaching savage hordes.

-Exactly. I'm glad you understand me, Kazuma.

-I'm used to living with someone who announces their arrival too loudly.

-FROM WHEN ARE YOU SO CLOSE!?-Megumin and Subaru exclaimed together.

-Always, because ...

-We are not. I still find him a loser and a disgusting pervert.

-HUH!?-Kazuma turns his face in disbelief towards the pink maid.

-Wow. It was a quick betrayal-Subaru said.

-You can't betray someone with whom you've never been in an alliance.

-Can you stop killing me?

-Not. You better get that tray.

-What? What is this?

-Food for your friend. She didn't come for dinner again tonight, so someone has to take it to her.

-Why me!?

-Because it is your responsibility to look after your comrades. In addition, it would be appropriate to talk about why she only occasionally leaves her room.

-Great! Another problems! Eh ... I'll see you later.

The brown-haired boy leaves the group and goes upstairs to take food to the crusader. Subaru stares blankly at a nearby wall for a moment.

-Subaru?

-Yes, Emilia-tan?

-Let's go now.

-This...

-What is going on?

-Huh?

-You are worried about something. You always have this face when you are in need and want to solve everything yourself.

-Face!?

-Yes! Face!

Subaru grabs cheeks and starts checking face.

-Come on! Say what's on your mind!

-Eh ... I blame myself a little for the state of Darkness. I guess I'm a little guilty of this situation. When we talked about her behavior, I may have overdid it a bit.

-Then go talk to her.

-Go!? It's a little embarrassing to talk to her about it. I mean ... it's embarrassing to talk to her about anything.

-I and Beatrice will wait for you in the living room.

Kazuma knocks on the door and, without waiting for an answer, goes inside. A blonde is sitting on the bed. He is wearing his usual armor and a sword strapped to his belt.

-Hello!

-Kazuma!? What are you doing here?

-Ram sent me to bring food.

-T-thanks ...

Kazuma stares at his friend's golden hair for a moment.

-Why don't you leave the room? Do you have any problems?

-WHAT! NOPE! I ... YOU CANNOT ASK PEOPLE FROM THAT IF THEY HAVE ANY PROBLEMS!

-I can, and that's what I do, so speak up before I change my mind.

-I...

The brown-haired boy sits down next to his friend. There is red on her cheeks. The boy, however, does not know if it is the result of closeness and excitement or shame resulting from the lack of skills in conversation.

-Come on!

-The thing is ... is my behavior really disturbing?

-Since when have you worry about opinion of others on this matter?

-From ... From talking to Subaru when that little killer was unleashed.

-Only he can confuse any woman in such a way.

-Did you say anything?

-Just that I don't mind your behavior.

-E-excuse me?

-I said that ...

-I heard what you said, but ..

-Yes?

-Do not mind?

-Till you don't do it in public? I'm actually willing.

Darkness turns red not only on the cheeks, but also on the neck and forehead. This time, Kazuma is sure she's doing it out of sheer excitement.

-Y-Y-you know, if you're really eager then ...

Huh!? What? It can't be that easy! But we're actually talking about Darkness, so it wouldn't be surprising. However, it might as well be some trick of the Ram. After all, she sent me here. There is a risk, but ... Okay! Let's keep playing! If she is really open to proposition, today will not be so bad, and if it is a trick, I will withdraw at the right moment. Ha! I play it right, this world will really give me everything I want. Maybe if I manage to get closer to Megumin, I will finally have my own harem and I will not be worse than Subaru, for which women are able to descend to the position of the second wife.

-Yes. I am willing. Now.

-WHAT? HOW? I MEAN!

-Why ARE YOU WITHDRAWNIG? YOU PROPOSED YOURSELF!

-I...

Suddenly, the door to the room opens rapidly and black-haired boy accompanied by a young sorceress bursts into the room.

-Huh? Megumin what are you doing here?

-What!? Subaru!? What are you doing here?

-I asked about it first.

-Silence!-Megumin peeks through the keyhole-Come here!

Subaru approaches the crimson demon and, just like him, begins to kneel in front of the door. The girl tells him to look through the lock what is going on in the room. The black-haired boy resists a bit, considering it inappropriate to look into the girl's room uninvited. Megumin replies that if Kazuma is missing the brakes then Natsuki is missing the entire engine. After a short argument, the boy gives in and begins to eavesdrop on what is going on in the next room. A moment passes and the knight in considerable shock lays his ear away from the door.

-AND?

-Akhem ... That's ... quite unexpected.

-Unexpected? I would say fully expected. Like I said, he never had any inhibitions.

-But...

-But it doesn't matter. If he prefers Darkness and its deviations, I will not force him to do anything. Ha! Let him wish he had taken his chance with the greatest sorceress alive!.

Subaru listens to the statements rushing from Megumin, or rather hears the insincerity that these sentences bring. The words seem to sound the way an explosive magician usually sounds, that is, full of theatricality. However, instead of the comedy customary in the repertoire, the boy is a witness to a drama. You cannot always hide jealousy with acting and exaltation. The boy knows something about it. In fact, he feels sorry for the young girl. It was she who turned to him for help. It was he who took responsibility for the advice he gave. It was him who failed to make Kazuma aware. He will probably regret what he will do and most likely anger his colleague, but Subaru is ready for such an insignificant sacrifice.

-Natsuki Subaru has arrived! Again!

-WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? AND WHAT DOES MEGUMIN DO WITH YOU!

-This is a question that I often hear and ask myself.

-Hey Kazuma. Hey Darkness-sorceress greeted, and the coldness of her speech was as cold as ice.

-H-hey Megumin.

-NO "HEY" ME HERE! SUBARU SAY! MAYBE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE BUT ...

-We noticed ...-Megumin interjected.

-Huh?

Kazuma stares at the black-haired boy, sometimes at the crimson demon. Darkness, on the other hand, tries to look at Subaru, but does not dare to meet his dreadful eyes that judge sins.

-Oh, I see.

-What?

-I see you found a new girl for your harem and now you want to get another one and leave nothing for the others.

-Excuse me?

-No wonder you didn't want to swap! For what? Since you can steal! Right, greedy lucky basterd!?

-S-steal!? Kazuma! Don't talk about us as if we were things!

-Don't speak, Darkness! We all know you would love it!

The crusader is immediately silent to the brutal words of the brown-haired boy.

-Backing to the topic ... I could guess! Then when she chased me away, allegedly warning me of Ram, or the gestures you were making before our picnic.

-Wait! Wait! This is a misunderstanding. I...

-You are so stupid, Kazuma-Megumin said with undisguised disappointment.

-Wow! Relax! When we calm down ...

- Stupid ... Stupid? STUPID!?

-Kazuma?

-I'M THE SMESTEST OF OUR GROUP! IF NOT I, ALL OF YOU WERE DEAD OR HAVE NEVER JOINED ANY TEAM! I'M THE ONE WHO ALWAYES PULLS YOU OUT OF TRUBLE AND RISK MY NECK OUT! NO ONE TELL ME I'M STUPID! VANIR ME LAST SAID THIS, AND NOW YOU! BUT NOTHING OF YOU ...

-Wait. Vanir?

Kazuma then realized that he had said one sentence too many.

-You met Vanir?

-Where? When?-the blonde joined Megumin.

-Why didn't you say anything?

-He came here to save us?

-Answer Kazuma!

-Kazuma, Kazuma!

-OKAY! GOOD! CALM BOTH!

Just as Kazuma took control of the situation, Emilia, Beatrice and Ram joined the group.

-What's going on here?

-You are so loud, I suppose.

-We came as soon as we heard Kazuma's voice yelling at the entire residence

-GREAT! ANOTHER MEBERS OF HAREM IS COMING!

-Huh? What is Kazuma talking about?

-Don't listen to him, Emilia-tan! He's a little nervous because ...

-THE ONLY PERSON MISSING IS THAT BLUE-HAIRED BITCH, BUT SHE'S UNLIKELY TO COME ON HER OWN LEGS!

.

.

.

.

.

Silence

Nobody speaks.

Lack of words sticks to ears.

Silence sinks in mouth.

Even the hearts seemed to drop their pulse.

And it still goes on.

Silence.

.

.

.

.

.

-Take back what you said

-Why should I? Did I tell you some lie? A bitch is probably a good word for someone who accepts such a degrading role as being a second wife? You'll never be in the first place. Your children will always be second in line after the little quarter-elves. I'm wrong?

"I said ... TAKE BACK WHAT YOU SAID-Subaru's voice is calm, but the weight each letter carries could easily be turned into a weapon.

-Subaru, maybe we'll go now?

-Emilia ...?

-Yes! Let's go out into the fresh air! This will allow us to ventilate our mind.

-R-R-right. In addition, it is always so brisk after rain.

-I don't think you should defend this loser.

-Huh?

-Petra found this burnt fragment in the fireplace in Kazuma's room today. I wanted to take this item to Mr. Roswaal because I sensed magic from it.

The pink-haired maid gives two friends a piece of parchment that has survived.

-It's the same pattern as that spell that teleport us.

-Ok. Listen and let me explain.

-So Vanir was really here!

-Look Barusu at him.

The black-haired boy, Emilia leaning on one shoulder and Beatrice on the other, looks at his friend

-You wanted to hide it from us!

-You wanted to imprison us here forever!

-Does such a man deserve forgiveness?

Natsuki listens to what Ram says and watches his countryman clumsily try to defend himself against his friends' accusations. It doesn't take long and the eyes of the two Japanese are facing one line.

-You don't know that I have a family there !? I wanted to meet my mom and dad again! With my sister! I wanted to apologize to her!

-I have a father, Kazuma! Are you saying I'll never see him again ?!

-Is someone lying to his friends for his own convenience even worth mentioning the name Rem?

Subaru's fists are clenched in anger. Emilia and Beatrice feel his hands trembling with rage. Maybe if they still didn't look at each other, their emotions would drop, but neither of the two boys would take their eyes off their enemy.

-How could you do this to me, Kazuma !?

-How could you!?

-You...

-SILENCE!

The word was not spoken by Subaru. It was also not spoken by Kazuma. It was spoken together by both hating men. At the sound of this joint ruling, everyone fell silent, and only Ram allowed herself a small smile for a second. She hadn't made it consciously. Rather, it was a momentary vent of joy that she could hate the brown-haired boy together. She, an lonely orphan, or so she had thought all her life. Always lonely, but it turned out that it was not so. Someone picked up her sister. Another dared call her a bitch. He will not allow it. She doesn't remember her younger siblings, but it doesn't matter. Subaru is the only remant left of the taken memories. Only he can defend Rem's good name. Only he has the feeling needed to stand up for the sleeping beauty. Only he...

-You wanted to hide it from us!

-You wanted to imprison us here forever!

The eyes of the two Japanese measure in one line. Kazuma looks at his black-haired compatriot and can't stop being mad at him. It was because of him that it all seemed. If he hadn't come, no one would have known. Roswaal would keep this useless passage and not tell anyone about it.

-You don't know that I have a family there!? I wanted to meet my mom and dad again! With my sister! I wanted to apologize to her!

-I have a father, Kazuma! Are you saying I'll never see him again?!

Kazuma clenches his fists in anger. Darkness and Megumin are still shouting at him. He himself looks enviously at Emilia and Beatrice. You are the hero of Natsuki Subaru. The fucking hero who goes all the way, who women will always want and who will save everyone!

-How could you do this to me, Kazuma !?

-How could you!?

-You...

-SILENCE!

The word was not spoken by Subaru. It was also not spoken by Kazuma. It was spoken together by both hating men.

-You are all right! Let's go outside

-Yes! Let's go out! And let's settle it like men.

Hello to everyone who made it to Chapter Eight and persevered with my poor English (bless Google translator). I'd like to thank you for all comments, favorites, following, and normal views. Special thanks to Maximum Rhaspody and Nat su 31. The former gave me the idea of Vanir, and the latter reminded me that I was going to do a chapter about magic.

Now let's move on to the current chapter. I was wondering whether to continue the fairly calm relationship between Kazuma and Subaru. I might have thought of one or two more chapters on everyday life, but I figured after Vanir's last visit it would only slow down the action. The chapter itself, and especially its final part, was quite difficult for me to write (probably the most difficult of all texts so far), due to several elements: how to write a meeting between Darkness and Kazuma without strange details (considering their bath scene in anime) how to write Kazuma's anger so that it comes less from a misunderstanding and more from pride and jealousy, and most importantly, that the culmination of minor conflicts between Subaru and Kazuma is strong enough. Getting Subaru angry was easy enough considering how he bases his hero status on Rem, but Kazuma is all the more difficult that he doesn't even mentally admit how much he cares about his friends. This may make it seem as if I am treating our adventurer harshly, but bear in mind that the main reason Kazum's anger is not that he is losing his own harem (well it is a bit, it's Kazuma after all), but because that he had argued with Darkness and Megumin. Thanks again for your interest. In the next chapter we will see a duel between our heroes.
