Jacob was immediately at her side. He understood now why rolled eyes scared her so much. Kuri moaned and muttered something he couldn't understand while her eyes shifted around behind her closed lids as though she was watching a scene. Jake realized what must be happening.

Kuri was having a vision.

He bent down and grabbed her under the arms, pulling her on to his back. Jake would have preferred to shift; it was faster, but there was no time.

"Come on," Jake groaned, half carrying her while she lurched blindly forward with him. "Let's get you to Kaori."

Thankfully, Kaori wasn't far away, a short walk through the woods. They staggered over and Kaori jumped forward and rushed to her.

"Kurisuta! What?" But as soon as she got a good look at Kuri, her alarm changed to calm understanding. "Help me bring her over here to my this chair here. She'll be more comfortable there."

They led Kuri to a nice soft chair, and let her sit down on it. Then Kaori crouched beside her and took her hand. "Kurisuta, with the Goddess's voice I beseech you to tell us what it is you see." Kaori's voice was soft, but compelling, and Jacob could feel the power in her command. Like Kuri's spirit voice.

Kuri's eyelids instantly began to flicker, and she drew a deep, gasping breath. Then they opened suddenly. Her eyes looked huge and glassy.

"So much blood! There's so much blood coming out of his body!" Kuri sobbed.

"Who, Kurisuta? Center yourself. Focus and clear the vision," Kaori commanded.

Kuri drew another gasping breath. "They're dead! No. No. That can't be! Not right. No. Not natural! I don't understand…I don't…" She blinked her eyes again, and her gaze seemed to clear. She looked around the room, like she didn't recognize anything. Her eyes touched Mana, at the doorway. "You…," she said faintly. "You know."

"I-I don't—" Mana defended.

"No, she's not finished. She shouldn't be coming to so soon. The vision is still too abstract," Kaori told Mana quickly, and then she lowered her voice again and assumed the compelling, commanding tone. "Kurisuta, go back. See what it is you were meant to witness, and what you were meant to change."

Kurisuta calmed. "I saw the night of Samhain. Mana cast a circle and summoned spirits she could not control, and they descended on Jacob Black and devoured him. After that Kaori banished them."

Jacob went white.

"We have to save him," Kuri cried, bloody sobs shaking her.
