Number one rule I learned from being a demigod is, the words what could go wrong should never be used in the same sentence.

I woke up around five thirty sitting in an armchair with Drews head on my lap, we stayed up till 1 talking and turns out, we have a lot in common. She was still sleeping so I decided to go for a walk on the beach. Gently I lifted her head from my lap, placing my sweater underneath to substitute as a pillow.

I had a lot to think about, like maybe Drew and I could be friends now? Last night I saw a whole different person, someone who needed a friend, someone who was hiding from everyone, hiding from herself even.

I sat in the sand close to the water, waves touching my feet, watching the sun rise over the sky. Hi dad, thanks for nothing.

Phoebe would have loved this place, but she loved being a hunter more than anything. Maybe Artemis was right, by me leaving, I was doing her a favour, she didn't have to make the choice because there was no other option. Either way, I still dreamt of her every night, our adventures, even just nights by the campfire, she was someone I could never forget.

''Hey can I join you?''

I turned around to see who was there, it was Kayla still in her pyjamas.''Sure'' I gestured for her to sit beside me.

She looked worried ''Where'd you go last night? Ouuu did you sneak off with Nyssa? You guys are so into each other'' her face went from worried to excited in like 3 seconds

''I'm not into Nyssa'' I felt my face getting hot and my palms getting sweaty, but I wasn't into Nyssa and she wasn't into me right? We were just great friends, I was in love with Phoebe. ''and I promised a friend I wouldn't tell. I just needed to be there for her''

Kayla's face lit up ''liar''

I punched her in the shoulder.

''Ow, what was that for?''

I smiled ''It works with the hunters''

''But I'm not a hunter'' she grumbled

''No but I am''

I took off running down the beach, without looking back I screamed ''race you''

She got to her feet and sprinted ''no fair''

When we got back I had to go check on Drew, she was still asleep and I didn't want to be the one to wake her, not a chance. So I went back to cabin seven and got ready for the day. I got dressed then I braided my hair, but in two because the hunters always did one braid. I also braided Kayla's hair, because nobody else in the entire camp knows how to braid hair apparently. Well except Percy, but where was he again?

Well actually turns out he's at some Roman demigod training camp in California, and Jason Grace ended up here even though he should be there. But that's a whole other story, Leo, Jason, Piper and Annabeth had left on their quest to go find him and save the world.

After I was ready I made my way over to cabin eleven because I promised Willow I'd still braid her hair every morning and was planning on keeping that promise.

She told me about this boy she liked from cabin 18. ''He's blonde, with emerald green eyes and he's so sweet like last night he brought me flowers'' she babbled.

Honestly I think she was talking about Marcus but every time I asked if that was who it was her face turned pink and she denied it. We walked to the dining pavilion together, she held my hand and it was cute, I missed sharing a bunk with her.

I sat down with my siblings.

''And where were you last night?'' Will demanded

Kayla winked at me then pointed to Nyssa, I couldn't help it I punched her arm again and laughed like we had an inside joke.

''Ow'' she mumbled.

''I had to help a friend'' I said getting up ''I'm gonna go sit with Nyssa. No further questions''

Breakfast was open seating and I wasn't dealing with that, so I went and sat beside Nyssa, and of course I had to steal a piece of her toast. She doesn't like when people steal her food, it's funny.

''Don't touch my toast'' she hissed, snatching it from my hand.

I smirked ''oh you're cute when your angry''

Her face was turning pink again, why all the blushing? I don't get it. ''I am not cute'' she grumbled.

Then I saw Drew coming out of the infirmary, I waved for her to come sit with us and she did. Even Nyssa was surprised, I'm not sure if it was because I invited her to sit with us or because she actually came.

''Hey'' she said ''just because I don't hate you anymore doesn't mean we're BFFs all of a sudden'' and she sat down across from us

Nyssa and I high-fived ''she likes us'' I said

''She so does'' Nyssa laughed.

Drew looked like she wanted to argue, but she didn't get the chance because Pollux, Travis and Conner sat down with us.

']Eat it'' Pollux demanded, shoving a plate of fruit in front of her.

She did. We were quite the odd group of people, but we were friends now, we had each other's back. Even Drew.

Harley came running over shouting ''Nyssa, Nyssa guess what?!''

''What?''

He was jumping up and down ''Chiron said I can get a guitar! Sam will you please teach me?'' He was making those puppy dog eyes that all kids seem to master at one point or another.

''That's really more of Austin's thing-'' he didn't let me finish

''pleaseeeee''

''Okay'' I agreed

He gave me a hug and then looked at Drew, probably wondering why we were sitting together. Honestly, part of me was wondering the same thing, but I felt bad for her because she needed real friends and I was determined to be just that.

Nyssa smiled at her brother, ''it's okay buddy we're friends now''

''Okay'' Harley ran over, gave Drew a quick hug then left to go tell everyone else about his new guitar. I could see Chiron smiling, he gave a nod and returned to his conversation.

Drew looked confused ''did he- I thought- your brother is adorable'' she finally settled on

Conner started to laugh ''you good Drew? You look like you've never had a hug before''

''Thanks'' Nyssa said, watching me. Probably making sure I wouldn't steal her last piece of toast or maybe her bacon. ''

Oh and Drew? Just because we're friends now don't think you're safe from our pranks'' Conner said, rubbing his hands together in a mischievous way.

"But you've also gained our protection" Travis winked at me.

''Don't worry'' I whispered '' we'll get them back for the tomatoes''

She smiled.

I handed her a string bracelet, I'd made one for all my friends, actually I'd made Nyssa two but same thing. I'd even made one for Conner.

They were all different because each one was meant to remind them of something important, Pollux has a green and purple one to remind him of his brother but also to remind him that he isn't alone anymore, that he has us. Nyssa's is yellow and orange to remind her to have courage, to be strong, her second one is a rainbow to remind her to live a little. Travis has a blue, green and yellow one to remind him of our talks on the beach, to remind him that he's not his brother, he's loyal, kind, funny and an asshole but I love him because he's my older brother ( well not technically but still ). I made Conners to remind him that he was important too, that I loved him too.

Drew's is pink and red, the colours of love to remind her that she's loved and that she's beautiful inside and out. To remind her to eat, to take care of herself, beauty is everywhere.

She put it no questions asked, maybe this was the beginning of a lifelong friendship, maybe?

We all enjoyed the rest of our breakfast laughing and telling jokes, I might have punched a few people but in the loving way. Drew ate all her fruit and a bite of my bagel, I'm so proud of her, it wasn't a lot but it was progress.

I was practicing archery with Kayla when I had a great idea

''Okay So I'll hold the target and start running then you shoot'' I explained picking up the target

Kayla looked sceptical at first ''but what if I hit you''

''You won't, you're the best archer I know. Plus what's the point of practicing if you can't hit a moving target?''

'Okay, you're right'' Kayla agreed.

At first everything was going great, Kayla hit the bullseye every time and I was having a blast bonding with my sister. I would run left and she would shoot, boom bullseye, I ran right and she shot, boom bullseye. I took a couple steps back to give her more distance then started running again. This time I got a little too cocky, I wasn't paying attention to what was in front of me and slipped in mud as Kayla's arrow soared through the air, hitting me right in the shoulder.

I looked at my arm ''Shit, Oww oww ow, fuck Ow'' and seconds latter Kayla came running

A tear in her eye she cried out and apology ''Sam I'm so sorry''

''It was my fault'' I laughed, then I moved my arm, and went from a laugh to a scream real quick

''infirmary, we should go to the infirmary'' I whimpered, contemplating yanking that arrow from my shoulder

We walked in and Will just stared at me, then at Kayla ''do I even wanna know?'' He wasn't new to having me in the infirmary, for instance, one time I tried to climb the lava wall blindfolded. Blame Travis for that one.

"Of course you wanna know! It was pure genius" I chuckled.

Will just rolled his eyes.

Kayla explained what happened then proceeded to help Will, it didn't take long.

''I'm gonna remove the arrow'' she said grabbing shaft

I swatted her hand away ''to Hades you are'' and I ripped the gods dam thing out of my arm

''FUCK'' I screamed

After that came the easy part, Will cleaned the wound then bandaged me right up, the whole time he was babbling on and on about being safer.

''Thanks Will'' I jumped out of the chair and when to grab my bow

''Hades no'' he demanded ''your staying here and helping in the infirmary''

''But there's nobody else here'' I begged

''Well we have cleaning to do'' then he handed me a broom

I spent the rest of my afternoon in the infirmary with Will, which was both boring and interesting. We helped a couple of the Hermes kids after a fight with Sherman Yang. Apparently the fight started because Tyler from cabin eleven has a crush on Miranda from cabin four, who Sherman was planning on asking out. Then Malcolm came running into the infirmary and at first I thought one of the Athena kids had fallen out of the chariot again, surprisingly it happens a lot.

He stood in the doorway catching his breath ''huh, cabin six- huh, in five minutes tell everyone'' then he took off again.

I looked at Will ''what was that about?''

''Dunno, but it seems important''

We headed over to cabin six, telling everyone on our way. When we got there, about 30 demigods were crammed in the small cabin. Usually there were more, but it was only June third so the summer campers weren't supposed to arrive for another couple days or so.

''What's so important?'' I asked and all eyes turned to Malcolm.

He stood up on a chair '' the hunters are here, and this time we're gonna win capture the flag''

Everyone cheered.

The hunters? That means I have to face Phoebe, and see Thaila again? Just great.
