Chapter 6: Through Viridian Forest
"AAAAHHHHHHHHH! It's a bug! Go away!" Misty shrieked what felt like the 100th time. Ash sighed at his travelling companion feeling annoyed. Riolu and Pikachu were of similar mind. The girl just wouldn't shut up! "Misty, will you please stop screaming?" Ash asked in annoyance. "NO! Not until we get out of this creepy forest which is filled with disgusting bugs." Mist screamed. Ash sighed along with his pokemon.
Just then they heard a sound and saw a pokemon coing out. It was a green serpent like creature with yellow spots and yellow tip on its tail, and a bright red antenna. Misty screamed again and ran forward to hide behind a tree. "It's a caterpie!" Ash exclaimed taking out his pokedex to scan the pokemon.
Caterpie, the Worm Pokemon. To repel enemies, Caterpie releases an unpleasant odour from its red antenna. It molts several times while growing up.

Moves: String Shot, Tackle, Bug bite
"That's one powerful Caterpie." Ash said while petting the pokemon who cooed at the touch. Riolu and Pikachu walked up to the caterpie and started a conversation. "And I think that' one disgusting pokemon!" Misty screamed. "Ignore her Caterpie. You are a wonderful pokemon." Ash said to the bug pokemon who heard Misty's words and became sad. "Why don't you come with me? I will make you strong and help you into a Butterfree!" Caterpie perked up and started rubbing it's head on Ash's leg. Laughing Ash pressed a pokeball on his head capturing him and quickly called him out." "Caterpie, I am an Aura user and I can make a Aura bond with you so that I can talk to you with Aura. Would you like one?" Ash spoke through his Aura. Caterpie nodded eagerly "Cater cate pi (Of course.)"
"Hey Misty it's evening, lets camp here." Ash said to Misty stiffly. Ash was still not happy with how Misty treated Caterpie. "Al...Alright. But please keep that bug away from me." Misty said coming to sit down on a tree stump. Ash nodded wordlessly and got up to collect for some firewood. "Hey guys lets go and collect some wood for the fire. Misty can you set our tents?" Ash asked to which Misty nodded.
Ash and his pokemon went some further and were collecting wood while they chatted. When they had returned, Misty had already set out the tents. Ash quickly brought out the food supplies they had purchased from Viridian store before leaving for Pewter. Ash quickly prepared berry stew and noodles for him and Misty and pokemon food for the pokemons. "Come out Pidgeotto, it's dinner time! You guys too." He threw the pokeball as Pidgeotto came out and called over to the three pokemon who were playing tag.
Dinner was a quite affair. Ash and Misty got to know each other better. Misty was still scared of caterpie but engaged in a conversation in him. Ash learned that Misty wanted to become a Water pokemon master. After dinner Misty went to wash the dishes as Ash sat there for a while talking to his pokemon. Not too long after, Ash and Misty were asleep in their tents. Pidgeotto had taken off to a tree branch.
Riolu, Pikachu and Caterpie were talking to each other.
(POKEMON SPEECH)
"How did you meet Ash?" Caterpie questioned.
"Well, when I was born, I saw Ash and we formed an Aura bond. And we have been partners since." Riolu answered.
"There is this old man who had captured me when I was chewing on some wires. Then I met Ash who offered me a place on his team and help me achieve my dream. And I accepted." Pikachu explained.
"I see. My dream is to become a strong Butterfree and be able to fly freely in the sky." Caterpie said staring intently at the moon.
"I am sure you can fulfil that dream of yours. And we will help you along the way." Riolu said and Pikachu nodded in agreement.
"Thank you." Caterpie said looking at his new friends.
"How did you meet Pidgeotto by the way?" Caterpie asked. Riolu and Pikachu explained the story of their first day.

Next morning Ash and Riolu were the first to wake up and quickly woke up their team mates. The pokemon grumbled still not being used to wake so early in the morning. They walked away from where Misty was sleeping as not to wake her up.
"Alright guys let's do some training. Pikachu you have almost mastered Iron Tail now. Keep practising. But first can you spar with Caterpie? That way we can boost his attacks and strength. Pidgeotto you need to rest, I know you want to train but maybe we can start your training from tomorrow. While Riolu and I are are going to run for a while and then exercise." Ash said to which the pokemon nodded while Pidgeotto was upset she didn't disagree.
Ash had totally forgotten about the book his mother had given him. He fetched it from his backpack and placed it in front of them.
How do we open it?" Ash questions.
"Rio ri riolu ri lu rio riolu(Maybe we have to push our Aura into it.) Riolu said thoughtfully.
"Hmm, let's try that." Ash gathered his Aura into his hands and pushed in the book. The book glowed blue and went back to normal. But now he was able to open.
He opened the book as two envelopes fell off. He quickly checked whom they were addressed to and found his and his mother's names on them. He placed his mother's letter in the book and he open his letter.
Dear Ash,
If you're reading this letter it means I wasn't there to help you grown up; and I am so sorry about that. However I am confident you had a happy childhood with your mother.
So, this book contains various aura techniques that one can use. And it will help you along the way while you master these techniques. I won't go into details but this book has everything you need to become an Aura Guardian.
And I am again very sorry that I am not there to guide you, my son. Anyway my friends who are Guardians will surely contact you once you start practising and sail through every challenge. I was the Head of all Aura Council in Kanto. For your information there is one Council per region. There are approximately 15 members in each council. The Council contains Aura healers, Aura Readers and Aura Guardians as you have no doubt found out in this very book.
Now onto serious matters; you need to be selective while disclosing the fact that you are an Aura User. I was indeed careful as only Delia, Samuel and select few others knew about my secret.
And the enemy we were facing is known as Team Rocket. At first the organisation was low level. They used to steal, mug people that kind of things. But then suddenly there was spurge in criminal activity that had Team Rocket at its centre. They started poaching pokemon, experimenting on them and what not. Me and my fellow Council members began getting nervous. We tried to fight them. For some time we thought we were winning. But it was false hope. Our fellow Aura users started getting ambushed and they were assassinated. We guardians started conducting raids on them but our numbers have diminished. I do hope that this conflict will be over.
One more thing Ash, there is a letter you must have found with this one. It is for Delia and I would very much like you to give it to her.
My next mission is tomorrow and I am watching over you while you are sleeping peacefully and I am writing this letter as you are sleeping. And you are the most wonderful thing I have ever seen. I wish you luck.

Ash placed the letter back in its envelope and sobbed as Riolu comforted him. He wiped his eyes and cleared his throat.
"Thanks bud. What I don't understand is why did anyone never visited us and explained this stuff. Where is this Council of Aura?" Ash questioned. He shook his head, "Come on let's start training. I want to make my father proud."
"Rio ri riolu ri lu(Yes, I want to make my father proud too.)" Riolu said. Ash nodded and they started their morning routine.
Ash and Riolu sat on a flat rock. They both had their eyes closed and their hands clasped together as they meditated on their Aura. Small Aura spheres formed in their hands and they opened their eyes to stare at their hands. It was the biggest sphere they had created until now! "EEEPP" exclaimed a voice and their concentration was broken as their spheres dissolved and they turned to the source of voice.
They saw Misty standing there and both of them paled slightly at being caught. "Misty what are you doing here?" Ash asked trying to hide his nervousness.
"What I'm doing? What were you doing? Your hands just glowed and had some balls in them!" Misty stuttered.
Ash sighed this was going to be a long conversation. "Can i trust you that you will never say another word to anyone else? Please Misty this is something that I don't want to be known." Ash said sternly.
"Oh,...Yes. Of course you can trust me. I will never tell anyone I swear."
"Truth is Misty that I'm an Aura user. It means that I have a strong Aura and those who have strong Aura can manipulate it or wield it. It means if I successfully master Aura I become an Aura Guardian." Ash said hesitating. His father's warning ringing in his head.
"Aura Guardian? Like in those myths?" Misty asked in awe. "Can I learn it too?" Misty asked. "Yes the Aura Guardians are real. As for your next question, Aura can't be taught. Even if you have a strong Aura, you need a Riolu who resonates with your Aura. And then both the human and Riolu learn it together as they practise their Aura." Ash explained to Misty who was a bit disappointed at the fact.
"Now why don't we go to our camp and have some breakfast. I'm hungry." Ash said. "Hey Guys, come on, let's have som food. You did great today. When we stop for the next training session I think Pikachu will learn Iron Tail and Caterpie will evolve into Metapod." Ash called over to his pokemon.
After Breakfast was finished they quickly packed their belongings and the gang set off in the direction of Pewter City. They had covered quite a bit a distance and decided to take a break. "Let's take a break Misty, I want to do some training with my pokemon." Ash said and Misty nodded. "Hey guys, we are taking a break how about we get some training done." Ash said and called forth his pokemon and they headed a few yards away for their training.
"Pikkkkaaaaa" exclaimed Pikachu while cleaving a rock in two pieces with his Iron Tail move.
"Well done Pikachu, you learned Iron tail and look you cleaved the rock in two parts."
However this scene was interrupted when they heard some familiar voices.
"Prepare for trouble," said the woman.
"Make it double", said the man.
"To protect the world from devastation,"
"To unite all people within our nation,"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love,"
"To extend our reach to the stars above,"
"Jessie,"
"James,"
"Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light,"
"Surrender now and prepare to fight,"
"Meowth that's right" said the meowth.
"What are you doing here?" Misty demanded.
"That's rude! Come out Ekans!" Jessie stated.
"I agree. You too Koffing!" James said.
"Not these clowns again! Let me deal with them Misty, Caterpie needs some battle experience." Ash said rubbing his temples. "Come on Caterpie let's finish this!" Misty frowned. He clearly had some strong pokemon for a beginner trainier. Why didn't he send them?
"..." Team Rocket stared at Caterpie for a few moments before busting out with laughter. "Ekans ad Koffing end this!" boasted the idiots.
"Let them come toward you and quickly use string shot on Koffing and Ekans's mouth and then tackle them hard." Ash spoke through their Aura Bond. "On it Ash." Caterpie responded.
Caterpie quickly did as Ash commanded and soon the once laughing trio were now trangled on the ground. "Caterpie come back. Pikachu use Thunderbolt." Ash grinned at the mouse who grinned right back.
"Piiiiikkkkkkaaaaaa-"
Team Rocket squealed in fear.
"Cccchuuuuuuu" Pikachu released a powerful thunderbolt and set them blasting off. Ash and co. ignored their mumbling about coming back.
Caterpie suddenly began using stringshot upon itself and Ash panicked for a moment but backed away a few steps. Suddenly Caterpie was engulfed in a white light. Finally the light died down to reveal an evolved version of Caterpie. "Metapod (hello.)" Metapod said. Ash crouched down and congratulated his pokemon.
Riolu sensed something and before Ash could stop him he had charged at it. "Riolu what are you doing?" Ash frowned in worry. Riolu was never prone to outbursts except when someone's life was at a risk.
"On second thoughts, never mind. Good job Riolu." Ash said after seeing why his partner had charged at someone. Mist nodded agreeing with Ash. He saw a boy dressed in samurai clothing with a sword next to him. Riolu had tossed his sword quite a distance away from him. "Who are you and why are you carrying a sword with you?" Ash demanded. "T...This is a misunderstanding. I am Samurai and I just wanted to challenge a person named Ash Ketchum." Samurai said.
"I am Ash Ketchum. But how do you know about me?" Ash asked as Riolu got off samurai.
"A boy who was travelling in a car told me that I could easily defeat you." Samurai said. "And now I challenge you to a battle. It will be a two on two battle, do you accept?"
"Alright I accept." Ash said rolling his eyes. He knew whom the boy was talking about. "But why are you carrying that sword?"
"Ah, that is merely a test to ee if they can handle me!" Samurai boasted.
"That's just ridiculous!" Misty exclaimed. Ash nodded wordlessly. Who in their right minds swings swords at strangers? If he continues llike this, he is likely to go in jail.
"I do not have time for mindless talk. Then let's begin. Pinsir I choose you!" Samurai threw a pokeball and the pokemon came out. To Misty's horror it was a bug pokemon and she screamed in fright. Everyone except Samurai sighed in annoyance while he looked confused.
"I choose you Riolu! Start with quick attack!" Ash said.
"Pinsir try to dodge it. And use Bind!" Samurai said. Pinsir was not fast enough and he was hit with a quick attack. "Riolu use Force Palm." When Pinsir landed he had swirls in its eyes. "Come back Pinsir. You are good trainer." Samurai scowled. "But you won't be able to defeat the next opponent. Come out!" Samurai threw the pokeball and a Metapod came out. "Riolu come back. Metapod I choose you!"
"Metapod use string shot to cover his nose and mouth." Ash said and Metapod quickly wrapped his opponent in white strings. "That attack is useless! Metapod use Harden!" Samurai smirked.
"Now Metapod just wait until he suffocates." Ash said to his pokemon. He couldn't believe that the idiot was this dense. "What do you mean suffocate? Metapod what's happening to you?" Samurai asked frantically. Sure enough Metapod was laying on his back trying to breathe.
"Now cut those strings with your Harden!" Ash commanded and Metapod complied. When Metapod had cut those strings, Samurai's pokemon had fainted on the spot. "You are better trainer than I thought. I will train and one day I shall defeat you." Samurai bowed and without waiting for an answer walked back from where he had came.
Misty and Ash shared a look and they both shrugged. "Hey Ash lets have our lunch here. As you did yesterday's dinner, I will treat you for lunch." Misty said and Ash nodded to her.
It was a few days before they saw a sign that read: WAY TO PEWTER CITY.
"I'm so happy to be getting out of this creepy forest." Misty said humming happily.
"Yeah, I was getting tired of your screaming." Ash joked. Misty huffed.
It took them little time to finally get out of the forest. Ash was especially excited for his First gym Badge!

AN: NOTE THAT THIS CHAPTER HAS SOME CORRECTIONS THAT I WILL BE RECTIFYING SHORTLY.
Should I make Team rocket appear in every single episode? Because frankly they are very irritating. Let me know your thoughts.
I was thinking perhaps making Ash a Field Researcher by giving him a pokegear to record all the things he sees. As for paperwork remember he has worked at the lab, and paperwork must be minimum for a FIELD Reseacher. Think about it and tell me or I will cancel the idea.

It is undecided but I think I will make Ash aura guardian in the movie itself. Aura is not something that can be taught by a book. Ash and Lucario will practise it together.
