A/N: …I am a hero too~… Well technically they aren't yet but you get the idea. Obviously, it wouldn't exactly do to have Tenko not get in, but today you'll get to find out just how high he scored! As well as the rest of his friends. Also, for future reference in the group chat:
Tenko Shimura: Handy Man
Kaoruko Awata: Bubble Girl
Chikara Eikyo: Woman In Power
Hyou Arashi: Ice Ice Baby
Neru Shoyu: Binder
Tenko was sitting on the couch messing with his phone when suddenly the doorbell rang. "I got it!" he shouted, and when he opened the door, he saw the mailman standing in front of him.
"Tenko Shimura, I assume?" he asked. "This letter's for you."
Tenko grinned, recognizing UA's famous seal on the envelope. "Thanks, mister!"
The mailman chuckled. "Wanna be a hero, eh? Well, good luck to you then!"
Tenko closed the door and decided to have a little fun by decaying the seal on the envelope. He then pulled it open and inside was… "A projector?"
He laid the projector on the table and suddenly it lit up. "Ah, hello there, Shimura-san! I am Principal Nezu of UA, and I'm here to talk to you about your application!"
Tenko was on the edge of his seat with anticipation. The hologram continued speaking. "Well, your grades are excellent, and your written results were within the top 1%! But I'm sure that's not what you're interested in." The hologram went on, "Well, in the practical, you earned… 42 villain points! That's our third highest score to date! And that would be plenty enough for you to pass, but…"
Tenko narrowed his eyes, confused. What's with the 'but?' Did I break a rule?
"…That's not all!" the hologram exclaimed. "In fact at the end of your examination you hit the nail right on the head about heroics! Fighting villains is one thing, but what really matters… is saving people! And the combined efforts of you and 4 of your peers earned all of you a whopping 30 rescue points each!"
Tenko's eyes bulged. "30!?"
The holographic Nezu concluded, "Yes, that puts your score at 72, which is the second highest cumulative score of anyone in the history of UA! And all five of you have tied for fourth highest rescue point totals as well. So without further ado, I bid you welcome… to Your Hero Academia!"
Tenko was now thoroughly psyched up, and he whipped out his phone to start texting his friends.
Handy Man: YOOO I MADE IT
Bubble Girl: SICK
Ice Ice Baby: Hell yeah dude
Binder: LIT
Woman In Power: Congrats
Handy Man: Aight so how bout you guys
Binder: 27 villain points, 30 rescue, so 57 total
Bubble Girl: 9 and 30, that's 39
Ice Ice Baby: 16 and 30, should be 46
Woman In Power: 21 and 30, which sums to 51
Handy Man: 42 and 30 so 72
Handy Man: Third highest villain point count, second highest overall, and we all tied fourth most rescue points. Guess that stunt at the end really meant something
Woman In Power: It certainly must have
Woman In Power: So, I suppose we'll all see each other at UA?
Handy Man: Wonder what class we'll be in
Binder: Well aside from Bubble Girl we all got higher than 40
Binder: If I remember right they tend to place higher scorers in 1-A
Bubble Girl: Oi
Bubble Girl: There was a written exam too
Bubble Girl: I aced it
Bubble Girl: How bout you guys
Handy Man: Top 1%
Woman In Power: Perfect score as well
Ice Ice Baby: Top 3%
Binder: Top 5%
Bubble Girl: Knew it
Bubble Girl: Anyway see y'all in a few weeks when class starts
Binder: Hell yeah
Ice Ice Baby: Aight
Handy Man: See ya
Woman In Power: See you all there!
The next 2 weeks were almost like torture for the hero hopeful Tenko, but sure enough, the day finally came, and he was at the door to UA early. He headed off to his assigned homeroom, 1-A, and marveled at the sheer size of the hallways (and also the door) Pushing the door open, he noticed most of the members of 1-A were already there.
"Yo, Shimura-kun, get over here!" Neru called.
"Hey, Shoyu-kun!" Tenko said, walking over to his desk.
"Looks like we're gonna be next to each other," Neru noted.
"Yep. Hey, wait, I know that guy!" Tenko said, recognizing one of the others. "Hey, Ishi-kun, was it?"
"Shimura-kun?" Namiutsu asked. "Hey, you made it! Who's the other guy?"
"Neru Shoyu," he said. "I helped Shimura-kun with the zero-pointer!"
"That was you?" Namiutsu stared.
Tenko grinned. "Hell yeah that was me! But it wasn't just us two, actually." Looking around the room, he saw Hyou sitting down. "Hey, Arashi-kun!"
"Hi, Shimura-kun! Hey, Shoyu-kun! Who's the other guy?" Arashi said.
"Namiutsu Ishi," he explained. "You part of the Zero squad?"
"Hey, that's pretty neat," Tenko said. "I think I'm gonna steal that."
"Yeah, I helped get its attention." Arashi said. "Shoyu-kun over there locked it down."
At that moment Kaoruko walked in. "Oh, hey guys!"
"Ah, the fourth Zero squad member approaches!" Tenko said.
"Oh, hey, aren't you the Bubble girl? Name's Namiutsu Ishi," he said.
"Kaoruko Awata," she said. "And we've actually got one more member, who is… walking in right now! Hey, Eikyo-san!"
"Ah, hello!" Chikara greeted. "I see the whole group is here. Who's this? I am Chikara Eikyo, for reference."
"Namiutsu Ishi, at your service," he said with a light bow. "Figured you'd be here on recommendation."
"I certainly could've been," Chikara noted. "But I wished to show that I wasn't all talk."
"Well you certainly aren't," Tenko said. "Anyway, we should probably go meet the others."
Soon enough, the newly christened Zero squad had talked with everyone, and Tenko made a note of the lineup (and everyone's Quirk)

As they all got to their seats, the yellow lump in the corner of the room suddenly began to shift. Out from it stepped… "Ah! A hobo!"
"I'm not a hobo, I'm Shota Aizawa," he explained. "Your homeroom teacher."
Once he was out of his sleeping bag, he then said, "Alright, I want everyone changed and outside, now! Forget what you heard about orientation; we're having a test!"
The students of 1-A quickly ran out to change to their gym uniforms before meeting their teacher outside. "4 minutes, 24 seconds. That's how long you guys took. Too long."
"B-but-" muttered Kyo.
"No buts. Heroics is hard work, and you have to be ready to go at a moment's notice." Aizawa said. "Now, I'm gonna have each of you do a couple tests. Go all out with your Quirk."
"All out, sir?" asked Seiden.
"This isn't middle school where the board of education demands equality," Shota said firmly. "This is real life. And life's unfair. So take full advantage of whatever you've been given. Whoever does the worst gets expelled." The students' mouths dropped open. Aizawa continued on, unphased. "First up, we've got a 50 meter dash."
For most of the students, their times averaged around 6-7 seconds. Kyofu, however, used her wind generation to launch herself forward for a time of 4.12 seconds. As well, Neppa used a jet of fire beneath her feet and shot off for a time of 4.52 seconds.
After this was a grip strength test. Misshu manipulated the density of the grip to cause it to fall rapidly, ending up with a strength of 420 kg. Namiutsu, meanwhile, piled several chunks of rock and dirt onto his arm, netting a score of 385 kg. As well, Ugoki used his telekinetic prowess to yank it down for a score of 500 kg. Kakucho pulled a similar trick to Misshu, expanding the grip to increase the weight. He scored 350 kg. Tenko, meanwhile, disintegrated the device. Shota marked him down as ∞ kg.
Next up was a standing long jump. Yet again Kyofu and Neppa excelled, however this time Henko managed to beat her ability to clear the sandbox by bouncing off the inside lip, catapulting himself a huge distance. (He nearly hit the fence)
Next were a set of repeated side steps, and here Katsu earned a time of 0 seconds by splitting off his fingers and touching all three lines at the exact same time, all while his fingers regrew.
Then the students were ordered to throw a ball. Kyofu clocked in at 750.4 meters. Kyo launched it like a shotput, shoving more force in thanks to her spiral ability, and landed 823.1 meters. Misshu dropped the density of the ball to near zero, allowing him to easily hurl it 1526.3 meters.
After that was a long distance run, where Retsu made headway by literally shaking the ends of the course together and thus slashing his time considerably.
Next was a seated toe-touch, where Katsu top-scored again by simply popping off his fingers and giving himself extra reach. Neru, as well, used his Quirk on his legs to ensure they wouldn't move as he reached even farther.
Finally came a set of 100 sit-ups. Here, Kochi rose to prominence by not only completing the sit-ups in record time, but also having literally perfect form for all 100.
After all of that, the final scores were laid out:
1. Kyofu Kogeki
2. Neppa Tatsuma
3. Misshu Omo
4. Kyo Rasen
5. Retsu Jishin
6. Chikara Eikyo
7. Namiutsu Jishin
8. Neru Shoyu
9. Katsu Warame
10. Ugoki No
11. Kakucho Juji
12. Kaoruko Awata
13. Henko Choku
14. Tenko Shimura
15. Seiden Hou
16. Jiki Inryo
17. Kochi Sekkei
18. Ai Kagi
19. Hyou Arashi
20. Senko Aki
"Alright, Aki, you heard me. Get out." Aizawa said, and Senko prepared to grab his stuff and leave. That is, until Ai realized something.
"Uh, Aizawa-sensei?" she said. "I'm pretty sure Tatsuma-san accidentally busted the replacement grip with her flames. It may need recalibration."
Aizawa stared at Ai. "You sure?"
"My Quirk lets me examine any object and determine issues or faults with around 90% accuracy," Ai said. "Sekkei-kun even laid out a blueprint with his Quirk just to make sure."
"So, that means…" Aizawa began.
Ai nodded. "Every score after Tatsuma-kun's, possibly including hers, is null and void."
Shota facepalmed, letting his hand slowly slide off his tired face. "Of course they are. Alright, given that, I can't reasonably expel any of you given that for about half of you your grip strength score is moot. Kagi, any other potential hiccups?"
"The sandbox shifted back a small amount, a few centimeters I think, when Choku-kun rebounded off it, and Jishin-san didn't quite match the intended distance of the long distance run when she reset the course." Ai said, turning to look at both.
"Well then." Aizawa groaned. "Never had this many issues with a class before. What is it with this year?"
Tenko grinned. "Might be on me, I think."
"What are you smiling about, Shimura?" Aizawa turned to stare at him. "And why does that name feel familiar?"
"Nana Shimura, All Might's mentor, was my grandmother," Tenko explained.
"Great." Aizawa deadpanned. "That explains a whole lot, actually. Alright, so all of you, you're free to head to class. Aki, you are currently on thin ice. If you bottom out your other tests then you are gone, you hear me?" Senko nodded. Shota turned to the class. "Now get yourselves out of my face. I am going to go take a nap."
With that, 1-A filed out, and Senko breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks for sticking up for me, Kagi-san."
"No problem, Aki," Ai said. "I make it a bit of a habit to make sure things are up to code. Don't want something breaking on me or going wrong when I can find it out, do I?"
"Well, anyway, I know I've got to do really well, but it's a little hard when most of what I can do is just make myself really bright…" Senko groaned.
"Have you tried focusing your light in a particular point?" Kochi asked. "If you do that you'll have yourself an on-command laser."
"I've tried that before, but… I can't seem to do it," Senko said. "Thanks for the idea though. Sure you weren't supposed to be in the Support Course?"
Kochi shook his head. "Blueprint would make me ludicrously effective at scouting out hideouts or mapping disaster locations. I know it could be used to make devices, but personally I want to be the one out there finding people."
"Well, anyway, what's up next?" Tenko asked. "We missed orientation, so…"
"I took the liberty of examining our schedules," Chikara replied. "If I'm correct we should have Modern Art History with Kayama-sensei."
"Midnight?" Kakucho asked.
"Seems like a bad teacher to have around kids," Neppa commented.
"They don't call her the 18+ Heroine for nothing," Kyofu noted.
"Well, anyway, pretty sure we should get to class," Seiden said. "Don't want to get punished by Midnight of all people."
"I would," said Neru bluntly.
Kaoruko mimed vomiting. "Of course you, would, Shoyu. Your whole Quirk is perfect for her schtick."
"Oh, yeah, Shackle, isn't it?" Jiki asked. "Yeah, that tracks."
With the conversation sufficiently derailed, class 1-A figured it would be best to head to class.
A/N: And that's the QAT done! Now, as is par for the course at UA, two students from both 1-A and 1-B are recommended from outside sources. Notably, Chikara was not. Kochi was, but I'll leave it to you guys to figure out who the second recommended kid is.
Quirk Profile Time!
Chikara Eikyo, Quirk: Shockwave!
Chikara is able to generate shockwaves whenever she waves her hand. Shockwave intensity and frequency correlates directly to the amount of force per hand wave and the number of hand waves per second, respectively. At absolute maximum, the shockwaves have a force of 1000 Newtons!
