The next morning I was assaulted by a combination of my own stench and the smell of the room, which combined in a way that nearly made me throw up in my mouth. I fought down the urge to barf as I swung my legs over the bed.
Standing up onto my legs and making my way to the dingy bathroom, I made a mental list of things to do in order of most importance to least.
The first and most important thing that I needed to was to somehow get legal paper work. However, in order to find a person or place to do that there's only one place I can think of to do that, and it's probably not open right now.
Another was to find a source of income, and possibly find a way to get more gahca coins in the process.
After that was that I need to find an isolated area to train, whether that with my quirks or just my body.
Finally, I need to do all of that without attracting the attention of either of the magical generation spanning wizards…
I think I may my priorities out of order. Oh well, I'll just take things one at a time.
After a shower I took one of the pillow sheets and transferred the cash into it, before hiding the briefcase under the mattress. Didn't want associates of the goons to connect me to the beatdown of their friends by recognizing their own briefcase.
I know I will need a source of income, as well as a place to sleep. There's only one place really that I can think of to get either of those, as well as the information on where I can get legal documents. I pulled out the scroll I took from the crime boss, noticing that he had a few messages from people asking where he was and how 'the meeting' went. Yeah, Definity not going to answer any of those. Luckily the idiot goon didn't have a passcode for the thing, typical incompetent, and went into the app that looked like the remnant version of Waze.
I put in the name of my destination, and luckily got a location, and made my way out of the room to the front desk. When I got there, I noticed that Velvet was manning the front desk while chatting to the now present team CFVY. She seemed to have heard me entering as she looked over shakily at me, which prompted the rest of her team to look over at me, Coco in particular stood out as she lowered her sunglasses.
I tossed the key onto the table and started to make my way for the door, and was about to open it when I felt a small hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see the slightly smug looking smile on Coco's face and she took her hand off me.
"Hey big guy, that's one of the building's pillow cases, it belongs to them. You can't just take ok." She said. I then walked past her over to Velvet, who I had a sneaking suspicion said that quietly, and then Coco proceeded to be strait forward about it.
I reached my arm into the bag, and pulled out a total of 400 lien and dropped it on the table.
"The pillow cases are scratchy and smell, buy some better ones." I said with no enthusiasm. I know these were popular characters but for now I need to focus, and this is distracting from my goal. The longer I hold on to the gangster's scroll the more I risk them catching up to me and kicking in my shit.
I once again made my way to the door, and was again interrupted by Coco.
"You know, you shouldn't steal money from people." I then turned my head to her, smirking as I opened the door.
"Don't worry too much. It wasn't really theirs either." I smugly said as I made my way out of the building and towards my destination.
On my way I was basically putting my senses in hyper mode. I was out in the open and could be found at any time, or someone would get suspicious of me and call the police, which I definitely didn't want to deal with.
I was really lucky; this place was practically right around the corner. When I got to the block the place was, I dropped the scroll on the ground and gave it a good few stomps, crushing a whole lot of the internal circuits.
"What the hell!? Where did the fucking signal go!?"
I went over to the front of the building, which didn't have a real line. Makes since, not many people go clubbing in the middle of the day. Thankfully the place seemed to be open, so I made my way to the door, and was stopped by a bouncer.
"Need to see your ID." He said with a flat voice. To which I pulled out one of the stacks of lien. He looked at it for a moment, before I saw his hand make a small raising motion, to which I slightly shook my head and clenched my fist. I'm not going to let this guy get greedy with me.
"I'm sorry, but this ID says your too young to enter." He said, smirking slightly at me.
… Crunch!
I punch him in the face and made my way in, ignoring his yells as he tended to his now crushed and deformed nose.
I made my way into the mostly empty club, noticing the noticeable number of people who were unconscious on the ground, likely from partying the previous night. One in particular stood out as he unconsciously rolled around in a pool of his own vomit. Gross.
I went up to the bar to see the man I was looking for, dropping the case on the table, causing some of the stacks to spill out. He looked up at me from the glass he was cleaning.
"I'm looking for a guy called Junior. I'm here to hire some of his services." His eyes widened slightly, before he went back to his pervious tired look. He coughed into his hand as he began to speak.
"What exactly are you in need of."
"In short, I need legal papers, citizenship, the whole shebang, done in a way that makes it seem like I've always been there." I said simply.
"I see. Running away from something?" He said, trying to get a read on me.
"I'll tell you if I feel like it. Though, that's not all I need from you." I replied, getting his attention again.
"What else do you need?" He asked me.
"For now, I just need a job, and a place to rest my head. Though I'll be good with the job, then when I get enough, I can start thinking about a roof or food." I answered, causing Junior to smirk as he saw where I was leading the conversation.
"Well… I do have an open position for security. Though I don't know if the girls are interested in sharing, they're a little picky on who I hire."
"Oh really, why is that?" I inquired. At that he seemed to slump a little.
"They don't want their dear old uncle Hei to hire any 'bad eggs'. You get what I'm saying?". Wow, didn't see that one coming.
"Bhew!" I heard an angry, bloody yell echo out from the entrance. I turned to see the bouncer from the front make his way over to me, and then looked over to Junior.
"Yew ghot to ghet hem out of here! He's crazy!" He yelled at the man behind the counter, pointing at me for emphasis.
"Hey. You were the one trying to extort your boss's customers. You should think about who you mess with." I responded, causing him to turn to me, blood dripping onto the floor as he turned.
"YEW FHUCKER!" He yelled as he threw a wild haymaker.
Thinking quickly, I brought my right hand up to my temple, and activated Barrier, while condensing it as much as I could.
The guy's punch landed harshly on the shield, and several cracks rang out as he seemed to break a few bones in his hand as he did so. He grabbed his hand, yelling out in pain as he held it in his uninjured hand. I then proceeded to drop the shield, and made my way over to him, to which he looked back up to me.
"Nice punch for a rookie, here's how you really do it." I said, seeing his eyes widen with fear as he screamed.
I only threw one punch, strait into his arm and further into his torso. This time I felt the bones in his arm snap, and the ones in his ribs crack. This knocked the wind out of him as well, and sent him down onto the floor.
I looked back over to Junior, nursing my knuckles as I did so. He seemed to have been judging my power and technique during that exchange, as well as how I riled the guy up.
"Hm… You've got a strong shield, a powerful set of fists, and a snake's tongue that can really rile people up. Quite the impressive resume." He said, picking up one of the stacks of lien, doing that thing where they flip through the individual bills. "I can tell you'll be something special in the near future."
"… Getting some rapey vibes from you right now boss. I don't think I like it."
