Chapter six:

Kaoru turns as Hikaru returns to him. "What were you able to find out?" He inquires to the other who floats beside him.

"Well they have decided to have another kid to make as the heir. Just thought I would mention it despite knowing that you don't really care either way. Anyways to the news I know you would prefer to hear. They spoke in a way that kind of sounded like something happened with you though they could have been talking about giving up on you earlier." Hikaru informs Kaoru who glances away thoughtfully. "Kaoru… What if Haruhi spoke of is true? What if I am just some ghost of a lost brother?"

"How would we even prove that? We can't just approach our parents about this. They prefer to send us to some mental health professional than actually talk to us. They probably won't answer us if we try to ask them."

"Maybe our friends can help?" Hikaru points out.

"Well… Maybe they can. But I won't have Haruhi a part of it for now. I still am not sure what to think of her."

"I know. But maybe we should. Being a commoner maybe she'll have some more insight than the others?" Hikaru points out and Kaoru sighs.

"Fine. She can be included."

"You don't have to be happy about it. We just need to figure out if maybe she is right. I mean we might as well just check on it. I don't plan to leave you but maybe we can figure out how or why I am attached to you."

"I suppose. Then maybe we can find out if you're the ghost of my brother or something." Kaoru slightly grudgingly agrees. He doesn't actually care about what Hikaru is as he just cares that the other is there for him forever. He just knows that maybe they should figure things out since it ended coming up.

The next day the host club have gathered in the club room at lunch by the request of Kaoru.

"What is wrong Kaoru?" Tamaki inquires as they all are looking to Kaoru wondering what is going on.

"I need your help in figuring out something." Kaoru informs them as they listen to what he has to say. "Just to satisfy some small curiosity really."

"You want to know if Hikaru is a ghost or not." Haruhi realizes and Kaoru slightly glances to her slightly unimpressed only to nod. "I figured considering the suggestion I gave to you that you couldn't brush off like the rest of my questions."

"How are we supposed to prove such a thing though?" Hunny speaks up as the group glance around wondering the same thing except for Haruhi who looks calm.

"Well when I was trying to research what Hikaru could be I came across stories that sometimes figures like this are actually someone seeing a ghost. Especially kids who are more preceptive to the paranormal." Haruhi explains as they turn to her. "I could check the best way to find out if the other is indeed a ghost or not. Then someone will have to get the equipment that I find out about."

"We will cover that part." Tamaki assures Haruhi with a nod then turns to Kyouya. "You're pretty smart. Maybe you can help Haruhi with the research. Please Mommy?"

Kyouya slightly sighs and adjusts his glasses on his face with his eyes being hidden by the glare on the lenses. "Alright. I will. This is a matter that needs to be done for a friend. Haruhi we'll meet afterschool to do the research today. Don't worry Daddy. We will figure things out. Then tomorrow we will hold another meeting to discuss our findings."

Tamaki throws his arms around Kyouya who lets the blonde be all over him. "Thank you so much Mommy!"

Haruhi turns to Kaoru as Tamaki continues to happily nuzzle Kyouya. "We will figure this out." She tells the ginger haired male who slightly glances to her. "Thank you so much for letting me in to try to help with this."

"Yeah. Sure." Kaoru starts to think that maybe Haruhi isn't as bad as he originally thought. He however reminds himself to be careful just in case she tries to get rid of Hikaru. He is starting to trust her though not completely just yet.

With the decision made the host club separate to get some lunch before the time for lunch ends up over.

After school, and after the host club is over, Kaoru arrives at his home and steps inside to which he turns as his parents come over to him.

"Ah good. You're back. How was school?" His mother questions though Kaoru thinks that she is only asking to try to be seen as a good mother.

Kaoru doesn't buy it as he thinks that his thoughts are correct on this. "It went fine." He slightly shrugs it off and can guess why they have approached him.

"Come dear." His mother says putting an arm around his shoulders with his father doing the same on the other side.

Kaoru lets them lead him to the living room to where they sit down on the couch as the ginger haired teen is let go of.

"Kaoru. We have something to tell you. Hopefully you will understand. Your father and me are going to have another child. To be the heir to our family business." His mother tells Kaoru who finds that his suspicions were correct on what this is all about. "We'll support you in what you choose to do with your life. You have that choice on what you will do."

"I kind of figured that this is what happen." Kaoru shrugs as he sees some relief cross his parents faces. He doesn't dare tell them that Hikaru had listened in on their talk then told him, plus he had already been able to easily guess he'd never be the heir to the company. He thinks that if they wanted to surprise him then they should have said that they were going to make him the heir.

"That is great. It makes things so much easier on us." His mother sighs in her relief over this. "So. Have you thought about what you want to do with your life?" She inquires with an offered smile to the other.

"I am figuring things out as I go. But I might want to write." Kaoru casually tells his parents.

"That is fine. We can get you whatever equipment for it that you need." His mother tells him looking happy at how things have turned out. "And we'll make sure we have our connections open if you do end up wanting to publish anything. Magazine articles, news stories, or even books. We can line it all up for you."

"I'll let you know." Kaoru tells them and with that the little family meeting comes to an end.

"Make yourself comfortable." Haruhi suggests as they arrive to her home.

Kyouya sits by the table and pulls out his laptop as Haruhi heads to make some tea for them.

The two begin working together on figuring out the best things to choose for helping Kaoru figure out if Hikaru really is a ghost or not.

After a little bit Haruhi's father returns home causing them to pause. "Haruhi darling! Daddy is home!" He pauses at seeing that Haruhi is sitting at the table with a boy with papers scattered on it, two cups of tea, plus a laptop in front of said male.

"Dad. This is Kyouya. A friend from the school club I am in." Haruhi introduces them to which Kyouya nods in greeting to the adult. "We are working on a project together. That is all."

"I see." Haruhi's father looks right at Kyouya's eyes despite them being hidden by the glare on his glasses. "Just know that if you try anything on my darling then you are so dead."

"Dad he is fine." Haruhi tells her father then turns as Kyouya speaks up.

"Do not worry. I prefer Haruhi as a friend. I have eyes for someone else."

Haruhi's dad stares at Kyouya for a few moments then turns away. "Fine. Well I'll do dinner tonight."

"Don't burn the house down!" Haruhi calls to her father as he disappears into the kitchen. She turns back to Kyouya who looks to her.

"Let us get back to work on this." Kyouya suggests as he turns his attention to his laptop. "We need to have this finished before tomorrow."

"Yeah. I agree." Haruhi brings her focus back to the research the two are doing.

Both of them trying to ignore Haruhi's dad peering at them from the kitchen as they act like they don't see him doing so.
