Chapter seven:
The next day as planned the host club have gathered for a meeting to find out what Haruhi and Kyouya managed to find.
"So. Based on our research it does appear that there is tactics that professionals use that will allow us to find out for sure if Hikaru is really a ghost or potentially something else." Kyouya explains as the rest look to where he and Haruhi are sitting side by side. "We went out and picked up the equipment." He didn't mind paying for it if it means that he can help a friend of his, plus he is also wanting to know if Hikaru really is a ghost or not. He puts the stuff out on the table with it all turned off right now. "We can get it set up if you are ready to figure this out once and for all."
Kaoru takes a deep breath suddenly feeling nervous about this. He reminds himself that he should quell the curiosity of if Hikaru is a ghost or not. "Okay. Let us do this." He agrees so Haruhi and Kyouya move to a space in the club room to set up the equipment.
They set up a Kinect SLS Camera and even an EVP device which will pick up Hikaru's speech if he really is a ghost.
"We'll find out soon enough." Hikaru mentions to Kaoru as they all watch Haruhi and Kyouya set things up.
Kaoru nods to Hikarus words feeling his stomach twist in knots in the suspense of what the answer is going to be.
"Okay. We are all set." Kyouya turns to the group so attention falls upon Kaoru. "Hikaru. Stay back. I want to check how Kaoru is on the device before we put you into the mix." He looks to Kaoru to make sure that Hikaru heard him to which Kaoru nods in confirmation. "Okay. Come over Kaoru. Let us do this."
Kaoru takes a breath then heads over to which Haruhi shows him where to stand.
Hikaru hovers by Kyouya to wait for when he needs to join Kaoru.
Haruhi moves away as the host club watch the screen which shows that the machine is indeed picking up on Kaoru's figure.
"Okay. Everything looks good so far." Kyouya nods looking pleased with this. He looks up from the screen to look to Kaoru. "Okay. Let's have Hikaru move in. Go to beside Kaoru but don't touch him."
Hikaru moves forward and comes to float beside Kaoru in the usual way he floats which if he was on the ground hed be on his hands and knees or feet.
The host club gasp and mummer except for Kyouya.
"We can see Hikaru." Kyouya confirms as he stares at the screen. "Hikaru please do a waving motion."
Hikaru does so and Kyouya smiles.
"We can see it!" Hunny sounds excited to finally have an answer. "Hikaru is a ghost!"
Kaoru can't believe it. He's been really seeing and talking to a ghost this whole time? He feels the shock of it hit him hard, his legs feeling a little weak from it though he manages to stay standing, though he supposes that it makes some things about the whole thing with them make sense.
Like how Hikaru is good at some things that Kaoru isn't good at.
They just aren't sure why or how Hikaru and Kaoru had become connected the way that they are with Kaoru being able to see plus communicate with him.
"Wait. That means that we should be able to pick up his voice on this." Haruhi brings the device over to where they can see Hikaru. She makes sure that the device is working as they can hear the white noise coming from it. "Okay Hikaru. Try to speak into this."
Hikaru leans close to the device and speaks into it. "Can you hear me?" He jumps back when his voice electronically comes from the device.
"Yes we can!" Haruhi's eyes sparkle as if excited that she has managed to figure out the history of Hikaru.
"I never thought I'd ever be able to speak this directly to all of you. I really appreciate all you do for Kaoru. How much you care about him. It means a lot to me." Hikaru tells the other members through the EVP machine that picks up on every word he says.
"It is okay Hikaru." Hunny assures the ghost with a smile at where the camera is picking up where Hikaru is floating. "It is cool to be able to talk to you more directly."
"Quite so." Tamaki nods looking just happy as the others to be able to be able to communicate with the spirit member of their club through the device. "And do not fret. Even though you are a ghost you are still a part of our group. We swear that we will not try to get rid of you at all. We would rather you stay with us."
The others mummer in agreement as even though before they had to communicate through Kaoru before they see Hikaru as one of them. So they don't plan to try to send him away in anyway even after that this discovery.
Haruhi looks to Kaoru thoughtfully. "Since Hikaru is a ghost then I think it would make sense that he could be your brother that didn't make it." She points out to Kaoru who looks away thoughtfully.
"We aren't sure ourselves." Hikaru admits as the others listen to what he has to say. "His parents… Well I guess our parents in a sense, don't really give us a straight answer about that. Plus they don't really bring it up."
"Now hold on. There may be a way to figure out how this all came to be." Kyouya speaks gaining everyone's attention. "We have the equipment to prove that Hikaru is a ghost that for some reason is attached to Kaoru. If the proof is shown to your parents then perhaps they will be more talkative about the whole thing."
Kaoru silently admits that what Kyouya is saying really could be a way to go about it. He is curious what his parents will say about the evidence. "Okay. Let's do this. We'll head to my mansion and show the proof. Then question them about it."
The others nod making sounds of agreement to this plan.
Not long later Kaoru is in the limo with the others sitting around him quiet as they share his nervousness about how this will all end up going. He glances to look out of the window he is sitting by as he wonders how his parents will react to the evidence. He can feel Hikaru staying close to him wanting to comfort him and it does work a bit as it feels nice to have the other close to him. He knows that Hikaru is able to tell that so he stays right there for him.
"We might get answers." Hikaru mentions and Kaoru softly nods in agreement.
They arrive to the mansion and the driver opens the door to let them out.
Kaoru watches the others climb out and hesitates a moment. He feels rather nervous as the time for him to face his parents with what they have found really is drawing closer and closer. He takes a deep breath figuring that no matter what the answer ends up being he won't let them take Hikaru away. He gets out of the limo and leads the group into the mansion.
They are greeted by a maid after they walk into the mansion.
"Where are my parents?" Kaoru questions the maid to which she points to the living room. He leads the host club into the room to which his parents turn in surprise.
It is the first time that the host club have been to Kaoru's mansion.
"Who are you all?" Kaoru's mother questions as her gaze sweeps over the group.
"We are friends." Tamaki explains flashing her a host club greeting smile. "Actually we came with our friends to bring up something that we have discovered. We wish to support our friends when we show you what we have found out." He moves as Kyouya and Haruhi set up the equipment.
Kaoru's parents exchange shocked looks that Kaoru actually has friends. They turn as Kyouya clears his throat.
Kaoru gestures for Hikaru to wait so he does. He heads over to be in front of the camera as Kyouya makes sure Kaoru's parents can watch. He is given the EVP device by Haurhi who then heads out of the cameras reach. "Okay Hikaru." He watches the other come over and hear his parents gasp. He finds that it is confirmation that they can see Hikaru on the screen.
Hikaru reaches over putting an arm around Kaoru. "I am real! And I am a part of Kaoru. No matter what happens we refuse to be separated. Okay? However I will admit that it is nice to be able to prove my existence to you finally." He speaks and the EVP device speaks out the words that he has spoken.
The host club watch in surprise as suddenly Kaoru's mother collapses to be sitting as she starts crying heavily, and Kaoru's father hugs his wife also crying just not as heavily.
