Chapter 7:
"Easy now, old lass." Brigid was helping Demeter walk, with the goddess of seasons refusing to be stretchered away.
"Who are you calling old?" Demeter asked Brigid, annoyed with what the goddess of healing called her.
"Mother." Demeter stopped whatever she was saying and faced Persephone. It was an awkward silence between the three until Persephone spoke again. "I'm… glad to see you alive."
"Oh, Kore." Demeter tried to hug her daughter, but her injuries got the better of her. She dropped to the ground like a ragdoll. Persephone and Brigid were instantly on her side. "That human did a number on me. Still, I realized something because of her."
"Mother, you need to rest." Persephone said, but Demeter hushed her.
"I love you, Kore." Demeter cried. "I'm sorry it took this much to realize I'm a terrible mother."
Persephone cried as well and hugged Demeter, ignoring the blood staining her dress while Brigid called for a stretcher. "I love you too, mom."
"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!" The Void's Avatar was stomping the ground, creating a minor earthquake inside the room. They sighed in exasperation at another loss. It was still an entertaining match. "She had it until she accidentally gave Demeter a therapy treatment relating to Demeter's relationship with Persephone. Talk about bad luck!"
The Void was not too pleased about having another loss. They're concluding that maybe brute force wasn't the best way to deal with gods specializing in an all-out brawl. Technically, they knew, but they refused to activate their omniscience. Still, they went to confirm if their suspicions were correct.
"Endeavour." The Void called out the fiery hero. Endeavour stood up, thinking it was his turn to fight. "I know what you're thinking, but it's not your time to fight. Not yet. Not until they sent that goddess to fight. I need you to come with me outside."
They both walked out of the room to start their discussion. "I hope you still remember my plans with you."
"I know who I'm fighting, Void."
"Well, they're not sending her out yet. Still, that won't stop her from intruding on the next matches. They're desperate to keep that 25 bucks. Since you're the most competent one, I need you to investigate her real quick. If you find out that she's tampering, destroy the pages with your flames." The Void ordered the hero. Endeavour nodded and walked off to find his future opponent. The Void went back inside to pick which fighter he should choose next. They then received a text from a familiar person.
"They're sending Baldr next." The text said. The Void only had a vague idea of why this person is helping them, but they won't deny the help, considering this person never lies.
"One of the stronger ones? Isn't Baldr invincible? I don't have a counter for him." The Void rested their face on their palms to try and think. They weren't expecting Baldr to go next.
"Hey, lack-face." Bakugou called out. The Void turned around to see that it wasn't the Bakugou they had chosen in the tournament, but another version of him. The Void looked into Bakugou's life to see that he was part of a Botany Club in his high school days. "You want a fighter? I got a suggestion. This guy."
Bakugou grabbed Mineta and presented him to The Void. "Hey! What the hell, Bakugou! I'm not even ready to fight! Why the hell was I even chosen to fight?! I'm not that strong compared to everyone here!"
"Yeah, why'd you choose this weak ass shit, Void? I killed him in my universe and everybody gave me a medal for it!" Mary Sue Bakugou complained about not being next again while insulting Mineta.
"Shut the fuck up, boring version of me! Mineta over here is a rat, and when a rat is cornered, they fight back." The Other Bakugou snapped back. The Void realized what was going on here. Bakugou from the Botany Club is from the same universe as the Mineta they chose. The two seem to be close friends in that universe. They also agreed that Bakugou had a point. Maybe it's time to send someone who fights unconventionally.
"Fine then. Mineta, you're fighting Baldr."
"WHAT?!" Mineta from the universe where Izuku is an asshole and goes to Shiketsu panicked. Bakugou placed his hand on the short fighter's shoulders.
"Don't worry about it. If you can beat an undying clown, you can beat an invincible god."
"I'm going to die, am I?" Mineta walked away to his fight, having no choice. "I might as well expect the audience's boos, too."
"Two down and four more to go for the gods! Will they get a perfect seven win streak or will humanity win one this time around?!" Hermes hyped up the next fight. "To be honest, I'm not really sure, considering who the next god is! They requested that Demeter's forest not be removed because they liked it."
The door opened on the gods' side of the arena and doves flew out. Everything grew dark as a bright light shone like a stage light in a theatre, following the god. The next fighter of the gods walked out clad in viking armour. He also carried a shield and spear, but neither of those were important. It didn't matter whether it was human or god who looked upon the being. They all admired the simultaneous beauty and handsomeness the god emits, from his face to his perfect body. He waved and all the ladies swoon while the men gave him a thumb of approval. Even Aphrodite's jealousy was blasted away by the god's positive energy.
He smiled slightly and broke his weapons, stripped down to nothing but his pants and boots, and threw away the armour. The god intends to fight bare handed.
"Yes, you are not being deceived. Who you are seeing now is the most handsome god of light. Even my brother Apollo couldn't compare! Through his mother's quest, this god is the invincible being, with nothing able to harm him! He is the God of Bravery! He is the God of Light! This god is…!" Hermes paused as the entire arena, god or man alike, cheered for the fighter.
"BALDR!"
"Don't ya think that's a bit much, Hermes?" Baldr's beard flowed beautifully with the wind as he entered the forest.
"Go, son!" Frigg cheered from the audience. She knew this would be over in an instant. It didn't matter who would fight Baldr. Beside her was Baldr's twin, the blind god Hodr, also cheering for his brother.
The door to the human's side opened. Out came a teenager with a purple mohawk in the shape of three balls. The weebs and whoever was part of the fandom instantly lost hope of winning this round. They booed, and the rest of the human audience followed along. Only a few cheered for him.
"This kid died early. Why you ask? He sacrificed himself to save his friends! Yes, this one, much like Inko Midoriya, differs from the one you knew, yet also similar! In truth, they are the same, but a miniscule difference of another's decision changed their paths forever!" Hermes began introducing the Void's next representative. The teenage hero continued walking into the forest, feeling scared to fight, but determined not to let his best friend down. "Yes, this kid is a hero, whether you deny it or not! He is the little ball of trouble none of you want to mess with! He is…"
"GRAPE SHOT! MINORU MINETA!"
The crowd booed louder. They even threw trash at him. It would've crushed Mineta's spirit if he weren't already used to it. It was all silence to him. The only things he heard were the cheers from the Botany Club, and the clown villain he defeated.
"WHO CARES WHAT THOSE TWITTER LOSERS THINK?! WHO CARES WHAT THOSE 14-YEAR-OLD WHITE GIRLS THINK?! KICK HIS ASS, MINETA!" Botany Club Bakugou yelled his encouragement to his best friend.
"What explodey-boy said!" Botany Club Awase cheered as well.
"You can do it, Mineta!" Botany Club Ibara cheered alongside her friends. Long ago, when all three finally died, they changed back to their younger forms in the afterlife so that Mineta wouldn't feel isolated. The Botany Club shares a bond like no other.
"Bah! They're just gods! They're lower than us! Show them what humanity is capable of, Grape Shot!" Carlitos, the clown murderer, cheered for the one who defeated him.
Mineta walked until he came face-to-face with his opponent. Sweat dripped from his face as he pulled out the weapon The Void gave him, a garrote. "Uh, hey, dude."
"Ay dude, no need to be nervous. Clearly, both of us got no say in the matter." Baldr reached out his hand, expecting Mineta to shake it. Mineta reluctantly shook it, finding out that there wasn't any hidden malice in Baldr. "Say, why do your own people hate you? You done something wrong, bro?"
"Well, it's a long story. I was kind of a perv til someone changed my life. By then, it already stuck with everyone who aren't my friends. I guess these people in the audience hate me. Apparently, our lives are just a story in their universe. They had a lot of good reasons to hate me. It's kind of a downer, really." Mineta explained while sheepishly scratching the back of his head.
"Ay, don't listen to those bozos, kid. You changed, didn't you? Your friends like you. That's all that matters. Still, I wish I could have the same experience as you." Baldr reassured the Grape Hero. Mineta noticed a bit of sadness from Baldr's voice at the last part, but he paid no mind to it. "May the best man win, right?"
"Right. Thanks." Mineta answered while Heimdall blew the horn to start the match. Baldr tried jumping forward, but instantly tripped and fell on his face. He looked only to see that his boot was stuck to the ground by a ball similar to Mineta's hair. He turned around to see Mineta close to him while nervously holding the garrote. "I'm really sorry. I can't beat you fairly. We both know that."
"Ha! Cheeky bastard. That's a good one. I didn't even notice it!" Baldr smiled while Mineta wrapped the garrote around his neck. The weapon instantly snapped when Mineta tried to squeeze tightly. "Oh, that can't be good for you. Anyway, brace yourself."
Baldr grabbed Mineta and threw him into a tree, officially starting the fight.
{- To Be Continued...
Yeah I added Mineta. Cope.
